Quote:You, the OP, have answered your own question. The question behind the question would be "Why is the exchange rate on this artificially high?"
I know the PVP sets are supposed to be rare and all but it seems like the exchange rate on this is artificially high.
Hint: The answer is in this thread somewhere. Well, "Everywhere." -
I'm still getting over this line:
Quote:But I'm not like the rest of you, I don't brag about what I've done or haven't done. -
Two points:
1. I recommend getting Build Up ahead of Hasten, and Concentration the second it becomes available. Details in my Blaster mini-guide [see sig] but the basic idea is that Blasters need to do their damage IMMEDIATELY. They're the only glass character in the game, so they need all the cannon. Because if they live long enough to shoot back, that's a problem.
2. You've explained your no-melee reasoning. I respectfully suggest trying at least one melee attack. Some people WILL get in your face and an extremely fast-activating extremely hard-hitting attack, or better yet two, will discourage them with a quickness. [Bonesmasher and Energy Punch, first and second, are my recommendations.] Now, disclaimer time, I love the 1-2 combo of those two and I use it VERY frequently. [Or the Electric secondary powers which have different names, different FX, and almost exactly the same stats. Note that Tanks and Brutes have powers with the SAME name but DIFFERENT stats. There's a lot of nonintuitive stuff when you look under the hood in this game. ] -
"healer" works pretty well, in the first 10 levels of the game. It is desired for considerably longer than that, by people who learned to like it in the first 10 levels...
What's that? Experienced players get past the first 10 levels of the game in an hour and a half?
Well... I didn't start out experienced, did you? -
... and I sign everything with xxx,908 and I explain things in public and I _still_ make money off the same stuff I've always made money off. Including examples mentioned here.
Not that it matters. The real PVP these days is on the SG Top 100 lists. -

I can't tell the noise from the signal on purples. There's always been a lot more variability in purple prices on weekends, but this weekend has been extra-crazy. There are literally last 5's where four of them are 500-800 million and one of them is 327 million.
I'm starting to wonder if someone found a secret fountain of inf, like when the AE Mastermind bug was going on and people could farm up 2 billion inf in a matter of hours. -
"Stalker" was my first thought, as well.

Quote:I just want to repeat this because it is VERY IMPORTANT and some drive-by reader might see it.
you *will* lose your hero merits if you change alignment to vigilante or villain, so spend em all first! -
Quote:This. You can think of it as "Like doing Defender level damage", you can think of it as "half damage", but either way it's a severe penalty to performance.
I follow a general rule of "Slot what the power needs first, then look at any set bonuses you can get out of it"
You're hardly the first person to look at the shiny set bonuses and overlook the hit to the functional core performance... at least you didn't get a set bought and slotted before you found out the problem. -
So where's the hexfecta picture? Someone must have gotten it! I require pictures.

Quote:... I got two LoTGs in one Hero Merit roll last week. Sorry for taking your stuff.
I sort of figured after 19 days of hero merit rolls, I'd have gathered a few Luck of the Gambler +recharges, Numina's uniques, Miracle uniques. So far I have 1 of those, period. -
Quote:You notice them more, because of the rage factor.I have never gotten them in a group i have seen people get two in 1 mishion a few times.
The times i solo i have much better luck running at +2x8 with bosses.
The first thing you need to ask yourself if your not seeing purples is how often do you solo at x8 or x6.
An yes it seems like trap of the hunter an essence of cure an a few others drop a lot more then the more rare ones.
Having gone through nearly 200 "random rolls", mostly from hero merits, since I18: I didn't get all that many Traps of the Hunter or Ghost Widow's. I know, because those things take freakin FOREVER to sell. -
Quote:I don't know about the tip, but someone did once post screenshot of a "quinfecta" drop.
So you could (and people have) kill one mob and get :
An inspiration
A piece of Invention Salvage
An Invention Recipe
An Enhancement
A Costume Recipe
A Tip -
The multi-slots (Kin Crash for instance) are only mag 3 instead of mag 4. I remember slotting that once and getting somewhat more KB'd than with the 4 (which stops an estimated 90% of KB. You can still get hit by synchonized grenades or individual nemstaff shots or whatever, but MOST kb just goes away.)
There's also, in the short term, this, but it only lasts an hour before refresh. It'll get you through a couple missions before you have to run back to the SG base, though. -
People're grabby! This is an excellent time to convert tickets. Unfortunately I think I burnt all my tickets last time it was an excellent time to convert tickets...

I haven't had a lot of spare time lately. I shoulda made a lowbie emp and played incompetently a lot...
EDIT: 23X , you're welcome to join. You don't have to donate a thing! -
As far as purples: Less people playing is both less people wanting purps and less people providing them. I don't know the distribution of "less people playing" so I can't tell you which is more prevalent.
I do think you get more dramatic price swings on the weekend, both ways. More Buy It Nao, more "I'll sell this for whatever, I just need to get back to beating people up." Makes it nice standing in the middle profiting. -
Quote:... that was my point.
Its technically not zero-sum because the house keeps 10%. -
A few years ago when I did a survey I got about an even distribution of the 8 primaries [at the time] and about 20% "healers." My favorite of those was "Dr. Empath" with the search field that said "Healer". I didn't check, they coulda been a Storm/Archer or something.
