  1. I have a high-end and a low-end marketeer: the low end guy mostly buys for under 10 million and sells for 10 to 30 million. The high end guy does some big and risky stuff. On a good week I do better on the high end guy, but on a slow week the low end guy wins. Also, if I pour several billion inf into a Crazy [88] project the low end guy doesn't slow down at all, but the high end guy gets slammed.
  2. "buy me" is the default text, I think. I first saw it on uncommon salvage in the AE.
  3. So as an official person with too much time on my hands: A level 2 can, in fact, get an Alignment Merit. I did it on vet merits and location badges, with only a couple deaths. I remember one in IP and one in Founders, might have missed one.

What can a level 2 do with Alignment Merits?

... buy costume parts. I was hoping for some insane bug where I could get a level 2 stealth IO and be unable to slot it, or something.

Hmm. Viking funeral is where you burn the ship with all the stuff on it. Viking raids are where you burn people's houses.

    "Viking investing?"

Still stuck on the original. 10% ers ?
  5. Whatever I'm playing, I do a little bit of marketing on that character- 0 to 100 million or so, just to be self-sufficient and let me make that first Hero Merit.

Plain simple marketeers? Two. Maybe three right now, because I looted one of my active characters when the 88's went Winter Solstice Crazy. I don't know if I got that inf back.
  6. What do you call it when the Wentworth's fee on something is more than you spent buying the item, buying the salvage, and crafting the item? This mostly happens on level 50 stuff that you buy for 55k, craft for 490K, and sell for 10 million. I have done it on something that sold for 50 million, though, and it wasn't a typo either.

There should be a badge for it, only I don't know how you'd actually keep track.
  7. Fire/Mental blaster. Make sure to get both the +damage powers (normally aim and build up, but one of them is slightly renamed to, I think, Concentration) and throw out the fireball/firebreath/psy scream combo and watch all the minions drop.

A more conservative [sic] blaster is fire/ice, which gives you some better active defense tools, but either way you're going to be taking a whole lot of hammering till you get the technique down.

I have high level Fire/ice, Fire/energy, Fire/elec blasters (as well as a few others) so I may just not learn from experience...
  8. The sheer simplicity of the Hellions in Mercy: "Were you standing in the oil when you lit it ? Oh, man, I gotta try that!"

Now I know the OP hates to craft/market but if you can save up 2 alignment merits (4 days of play doing tip missions), you could spend that on one of the recipes like a miracles unique or something that sell for 200 mil or so on the market. Sell that recipe and then turn your 200mil into 400k prestige. That would push you over the hump from tiny-not-quite-functional supergroup base into small-just-making-it functional supergroup base.
The principle is solid. Four hours of relatively normal gameplay by one character gets you enough inf to hop this particular, umm, stretch of nonpavement. If that's still the metaphor of choice. Certainly faster for a solo SG than playing through 24 task forces or the equivalent amount of conventional play.

You may be able to do even better. At the moment, a level 35 crafted Kinetic Combat Damage/Endurance or Damage/Recharge is around 150 million, and those are one AM each. As always, check the market before turning your AM into a recipe into a crafted item. Also check to see if I'm matching prestige, and if 23x is matching my prestige match. 150 million inf -> 300K prestige. Pretty close to the amount needed... not counting whatever prestige you get from doing the 11 missions.

  11. Two points:

The first point is that "not expensive" means entirely different things to different people. I'm a flagship example of expanding standard of living. I used to be economical and proud in my frankenslotting- I'd slot an entire character for 15 million, way more effective than they used to be. Now I just shovel money at the perceived problems. When you can buy Pangaen Soils at 1.2 million each and sell them at 3 million each*, it seems silly to worry about five million. When you can do 11 missions and get a Kinetic Combat recipe that sells for 150 million, it seems silly to worry about a hundred million.

The second point is that people have to actually put in effort to create the things you want. I made a couple hundred level-locked Pool C recipes. It is a lot of work. I went for the levels that seemed to sell well and even then, I could have made a lot more with max levels, with straight buys, with nearly anything else.

OK, I can't shut up, there's a third point. If you play hard, you end up at 50 very fast. If you don't play hard, you don't generate a lot of stuff. The market's been very hollow for a very long time. There was a moment of joy at Halloween when everyone got a Pool C, no matter what level, but it went away pretty fast.

    * this worked yesterday. No guarantees today.
  12. It does seem that all the inflation is in the top-end goods. This may be one of those great economic discoveries like "People want to buy stuff they like". Also, there is some completely crazy behavior by people who are just throwing money around. I bought [redacted] for 70 million, instant buy, added around 10 million of salvage, crafted it, and sold it overnight for 150 million. Buy It Nao doesn't even cover that. I suspect this is "people playing their 50's a lot and making a lot of inf" but I don't have an actual explanation.
  13. ok, sending off inf now. I should have 400M left in the kitty,if my math is right [and my math is sometimes right.]

EDIT: Kranik, send me a PM or in game email; your prestige donation bounced.
  14. I'm back from vacation.

MeanNVicious: If you pick up the gauntlet on this I will start a character, join your SG, donate 1 billion inf (2 million Prestige) and quit.

  15. I'm still like a kid on a sugar high.

... I AM on a sugar high, but that's only peripherally relevant. Christmas = cookies and lots of em.
  16. Respect to all the other SG's in the top spots; an especial thank you to a couple of them for joining us in our manic inf-burning ways.
  17. Last I saw we were at 504 million Prestige (that's 252 billion inf.) At one point I realized that we started this SG on 9/23/10. So we did this in just under 3 months.

And we did something over 114 billion inf in the last 24 hours. . .

you guys amazed me, over and over.
  18. Oh, we did. It was a long cold winter night and we kept warm all night long.

... not like that, you ERP freaks. With BONFIRES. Of INF.

    Inf in storage?

Here's some idle math trying to figure out, exactly, how much inf is in storage in the system:

There are something like 155 recipes (and maybe half that many crafted items) level 51-53 with bids out there. Let's call it 250 total different items. These are very very rough guesses.

Let us further guess that each item has an average of 2 billion inf bid on it. Some things have 2 or 3 bids on them; some may have misguided actual bids. I think one of the LoTG +Recharge recipes had 31 bids on it.

That's 500 billion inf in storage at Wents.

I think most of the cash inf is stored in gleemail, with "stored on characters" coming in a strong second, and "stored in Wents" a distant third. So as another rough guess there's 3 times that much on characters and 4 times that much in gleemail.

That gives me a number of 4 trillion inf total. That seems really, really low considering there was 3 trillion before the market ever went live.

Anyone got any other ideas for how to guess these numbers?
  20. 9 out of 10 delivered; one bounced. I think it was Bru'tal or Baronesa. Could you guys send me a global email if you didn't get your inf?
  21. I tossed a billion on yesterday under the impression it was the 21st. More to come today!
  22. It's been a pleasure giving feedback and, often, seeing it implemented. I understand you couldn't get the Spines Stalker power "Assassin's Hug" implemented, but other than that I have had nothing but good experiences playing in your world.

Good luck and good hunting, Castle.
  23. Oh, because I'm lazy, just post global and name of SG here, and I'll gleemail you the inf.

(P.S. There's nothing wrong with getting bonus prestige for doing the right thing that you were going to do anyway. Seriously, what else am I going to do with it, threaten the top 5 SG's on Virtue?)
  24. Karma police
    Arrest this SG
    We talk in cash
    We're buzzing like a fridge
    We're like a discounted IO...

    Thi$ is what you get
    Thi$ is what you get
    Thi$ is what you get
    When we mess with you...

/e raises flaming 1000 inf bill and sways

(( we're making our move on the Empire of Villains, and depending on fiscal momentum maybe Global Co. as well.))

Is there anything you can do about it? Well, is there?
