    Cottage Rule

It took years of campaigning and complaining, and I suspect some datamining showing that Moment of Glory was taken and used less than any other power in any other scrapper set [or close to it] for the MoG change to go through.

    Seriously, it used to SUCK.

I have all kinds of nasty tricks up my sleeve to make MA missions literally impossible.

You say that like it's hard or something.

... do I need to read the original post?

There are times when I wish Bitter Ice Blast came back a little faster, but I like the boost I get from slotting damage when I'm solo.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Suggested slotting:

    Two Acc/Dam/Rech
    Two Dam/End/Rech
    One Dam/Rech
It's three Thunderstrikes, one Ruin and one Maelstrom, but I can never remember which triple's the ruin and which one's the Maelstrom. If you get things at close to level 40 (one set caps at 35) you should be at just around 95% dam, 95% rech, around 37% acc and end.

    Yours,

    Never Shuts Up About Frankenslotting.
  5. Half the time, if you're on a team, it seems like there's someone with a +Recharge bonus for you. Can't throw a rock without it bouncing off a Kinetic and hitting a Rad.

Speed Boost is a +70% global recharge bonus until it's time to go to your dealer for the next hit.

(Best advice I ever heard to a Kin, who was complaining about being yelled at for letting speed boost lapse: "Dealers don't take backtalk from junkies." )

    Can't decide...

Stone [major] tank is something that changes abruptly at level 32.

I'd make both, honestly. One or the other will end up getting cast aside, most likely.
  7. Consider also that you got "4 of the same type of thing" so the first one really could have been anything. The others are 1/6 * 1/6 * 1/6 so it's about a 1 in 200.
  8. What _does_ the Goat do in his professional life? I'm curious.
  9. I agree with Gamma Guardian, although I don't know if I'd get as intense about it.

Moore's Law says that what you get for the same dollar doubles about every two years. [I had heard 18 months; I'm not going to quibble over small things like that.] So look at what you get for half the price (a lot more than half the performance) and double the performance to see what you'll get for that price in a couple of years. Quadruple it to see what you'll get in four years.

Now sometimes it's a lumpy curve... 486's lasted about 5 years if I recall before Pentiums really got manufacturable, and there were a couple moments there where it moved a lot faster than 18 months. But basically you have to figure out what you're willing to spend, and accept that it's going to be mediocre in two years.
  10. You probably know this, boardthug, but to mention it out loud:

Critters "Scale up" in HP and damage from level 1 to 35, to match the [originally planned] scaling of enhancements. Level 12 critters are designed to be fought by people with very few slots, and those slots filled with DO's. Level 35 critters are designed to be hit by people with 6-slotted powers full of SO's. And to hit people with defensive powers full of SO's.

So if you're autoexemped from 12 to 35, you're going to have to hit a level 35 even-con about twice as much as you would a level 12 even-con. And it will hit you really hard with a ton of mez and pain.

( I got on a team like the OP's once. It was slow and miserable.)
  11. ... I was mostly teamed with a Kinetic. So if those were problems I didn't notice them.

    Info Question

I'm going to mention another common WoW-vet misconception.

You don't need a "perfect team" and there isn't one way to do things. You _can_ succeed using tanking, healing, and straight damage. It's not exactly the most efficient way. You could build a team out of the first four people you find with their "looking for team" flags on and probably do just as well or better. (The most powerful teams in the game are either all-defender or all-controller. They're also a LOT more powerful than the game actually requires.)
  13. DocOz: I started out thinking you might have a point but I now believe you don't know what you're talking about.

The Devs have about three choices to stop farming:

    1. Allow players "Too much freedom" to use the AE to build farm missions. This is the current status.

    2. Allow players "not enough freedom" to use the AE to build farm mission. The extreme case being to only let in missions which have been OK'd by a dev or a GM, dropping content to a trickle.

    3. Attempt to build some sort of mind-reading code that determines whether something is REALLY a farm or if it has actual story. I would estimate this would take ten programmers three months, and would be outwitted by farmers within 24 hours (probably much less) of going live.

Am I missing an option? Do explain.
  14. Elec felt kinda weak until about level 33. Then I loved loved loved it.

Lightning Rod has two AOEs with different radii. Radiuses. Things.

You hit "a lot of spread out people" for respectable damage, and "people right underfoot" for a TON of damage.
  15. ... but the "10 to 30 levels below the level that the enemies were designed for" IS fairly relevant.

Good luck finding a better team.

    So frustrating

    [ QUOTE ]
Another thing is lucks are kinda useless against the cimerions because most of their attacks do minus defence so you would be better off popping oranges.

    [/ QUOTE ]

... sort of. If they hit you it cascades fast. If they don't hit you they won't hit you.

Four small lucks will floor the chance-to-hit of your typical anything. Now floored chance, for an EB, still means they'll hit you 7.5% of the time, more if they have ToHit bonuses [as a few EBs do]. So about 1 in 15 times, WHAM.

In 60 seconds, when your luck runs out, take four more.

One medium luck = 2 small lucks. If you can't buy medium lucks at the Black Market, buy [for instance] three medium accs and convert them to one medium luck.

I'm about 50/50 soloing EBs on most of my villains so far. They go down on either the first or the second try. I may be some sort of superhuman CoX genius but... I don't think I'm that good. If I can do it, you can do it.
  17. Perez Park is still there.

I like to build a small team -4 or so heroes- by luring newbs in there and running the racetrack all the way to the Steel Canyon entrance. Usually they come out level 10 or so.

Something I occasionally PM people who are particularly incomprehensible:

"You're right. I'm not your English teacher. Nobody's PAYING me to read your stuff."
  19. What server are you on? I can probably hook you up with some.
  20. A /Mental blaster can hit the recovery cap frequently. I've gotten enough recovery to regain END through the -1000% nuke crash. Each guy you hit with Drain Psyche is like a Speed Boost.

But it's not up 100% of the time unless you build a high-cost crazy-recharge build.

If we're not settling for "burn less than we recover" that's my vote.
  21. [ QUOTE ]

Thanks for fixing that....got the numbers all wrong

so, its actually more than what I reasoned?

so, the hp/sec of this would be:

    30% res, 1600 hp, 1.6 regen rate

    1600 x 1.429 = 2286.4

    22.864 x 1.6 = 36.58 hp/sec

    that would be correct?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    It's the equivalent of 36.58 hp/second.

Some of that comes in "damage not taken" so it won't show up in-game that way.

    The Challenge...

The experience from two of my friends has been that World of Confusion does not seem to work much, if ever. I haven't messed with it myself.
  23. I learned my fireblaster techniques on /Energy and /Elec. So even though I _could_ live long enough for Rain of Fire to do its job, it still seems like a waste of time to me. I should be done with that spawn and moving on to the next one.
  24. I don't know that much about economics and markets. It's nearly impossible to lose money in CoH. . . if I was that smart I might be rich f'real.
