  1. Q: Which is better, a pickup truck or a Porsche?
A: Depends if someone's going to dump a half ton of bricks in the back.

    They do different things.

    Sorry if that sounds snarky.
  2. ... I just soloed Countess Crey at level 42 with nin/nin. Admittedly with inspirations and base buffs, but still. My first AV.

    /em stabbity
  3. I've gotten a couple "Welcome to the SG" type emails . I've sent myself emails reminding me what i was in the middle of.

    So... not many.
  4. ok, I'm changing this to 10 gets you 9 inf->inf, either way.
  5. I like to make close to double my money, in case I screw up and have to eat a listing fee... or an entire item.
  6. From reading your response a few times, I *think* you're trying to "combine" enhancements. You're going above and beyond.

To put an enhancement in an empty slot, just open the manage window and drag it from your tray to the empty slot.

To combine enhancements, open the manage window and drag an enhancement to a slot that has an enhancement of the same type in it. Or, from the manage window, click the power and it will let you combine something from your tray with something in the power.

... which sounds exactly like what you're describing.

If you feel "overly new" consider that I once spent several minutes trying to go in the "exit only" door of the Paragon City Tram.

This is the only situation I find myself in where I wish I could pass down inf from a higher level toon. I've had a few VERY lucky drops while playing in the 10-15 range - recipies that are selling for 10-20 million - but I've been burned by not having sufficient inf to set a decent asking price. I've "lost" 10-million inf recipies by having them sell for "only" 1-million.

Not to say 1-million inf isn't a lot of money for a level 11 toon, but it's not 10-million.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What I do in that situation is hold onto the 10 million inf item and post other smaller/cheaper item to raise the post money. If I'm lucky enough to have a few items I'll find the lowest "big ticket" item and sell it low but still high enough for the "posting" price.

Another good thing is the AE. <who'd've thunk?> A few missions will net enough tickets for a nice rare tech salvage or even uncommon salvage. Sell one at ridiculously low price for your "post money".

    ...just sayin

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you fear tickets, or going out and hitting things, or whatever, you can make about a million inf an hour buying unpopular set recipes (level 36-46 or so; snipes, confuses, slows, sleeps, what have you; anything with no bids and a couple dozen for sale) for very cheap and selling them to a vendor for 100 inf/level, or 200 inf/level if they're orange.

It's boring as hell, but if you need a little money in a hurry you can get it that way.

I cannot help but reflect that there are a number of things two or more people can do acting in concert that one alone cannot.

Much more classy than the answer I was forming... well done, sir.

For the OP, here are two or three guides so that you don't need to sugar-daddy your new guys.
here is how to do it if you don't want to "play the market" for whatever reason (you will lose 10%.) I have personally used the influence transfer system described for up to 800 million inf at a time with no losses.
  9. One other "So you played other MMO's" warning- not to jump on you...

as I understand it, buffs and debuffs and enhancements and inspirations are much stronger in this game than others.

Dark Defenders used to stand in the middle of twenty or thirty badguys reading the paper, for instance. Now they get interrupted after five or ten seconds by someone landing a hit.

(I would add Rad/Sonic defenders to "Good soloers", or Rad/anything really.)
  10. What's this? A horn? for me?
    /em blows horn

I may be able to restart my "matching grant" program on inf -> prestige soon. 250:1 is still pretty unappetizing, but it's half as bad.
  11. Madam Enigma: I only had one point in my last post. You quoted that post. And then you answered [sic] three entirely different points.

    I'm putting you on /ignore because you're not having a dialogue. You're a write-only device.

    AT suggs.

build up, aim, fireball, firebreath, psy scream (? The cone in the secondary, anyway), blaze, inferno, fitness.

Those are the ingredients for a balanced breakfast.
  13. [ QUOTE ]

Oh, and I'll also point out your inacurate statement and why it's inaccruate.

    [ QUOTE ]
It takes around 5 of those hours to get to level 12, around 20 to 20, and so forth.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That is only true if your on a large team that's steamrolling things. In fact, I've actually tried going from level 1 to level 12 in five hours. It didn't happen with normal game play. Not for me at least.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Everything goes better with patronizing, don't you find? Let me just skim over two misspellings of the same word in the same sentence, and point out that if all my times are doubled- 10 hours to level 12, 300 to level 50- you're still spending 3% of your time in the sub-12 game.

A Corruptor hits its stride later. Yes. You may not want to wait. We get that. But saying that you "have played" Corruptors implies you know how they perform through more than the first 3% of the game, don't you think? Imagine someone was making a pronouncement about how Tanks perform based only on the 1-12 game. How would you react? Really, now, how would you?

    Enjoy. Your. Period. Separated. Sentences.
  14. You are correct about the gut.

That's why we no longer keep track of average prices for rares at Went/BM.

Well, why other people no longer keep track. I got a free ride on their hard work.
  15. Mn4evabrng

... still too long for a license plate. "Fulmens" fits perfectly, though.
  16. Actually, prices take amazing short-term dives during the weekend as people dump their stuff for 1 and run back out to hit more badguys.

Then they bounce back much, much higher.
  17. Flipping works when you're putting in low bids and listing for Buy it Nao prices.

Crafting works when you're putting in middle-of-the-road bids and listing a different item for a different price.

It's normal to see recipes for 5 million and crafted for 10 million; it's plausible to see recipes for 2 million and crafted for 10 million.

Crafted, pretty much the entire market are Buy It Nao people.

That's great for Stalkers, since you're under a lot of pressure to take AS, BU, a Travel Power prerequisite AND (mostly likely) Swift or Hurdle all before level 14.

    [/ QUOTE ]

...wait, what? I have late-20s characters who just went to Grandville and bought their second jetpack. I don't see people loooming, chanting "No Swift No Play" either.
  19. [ QUOTE ]

Apparently you missed where I said I HAVE played, and do play corrupters, just takes too long to get the yummy powers I really want so I haven't gotten one past 12

    [/ QUOTE ]

These days it's about 150 hours to level 50, if you play "traditionally" . It takes around 5 of those hours to get to level 12, around 20 to 20, and so forth.

"I visited Washington, DC" and "I got lost in Washington, DC for a couple hours" are different statements. You haven't played a corruptor- you got lost in one for a couple hours. .
  20. Dave_P: I had something to say but then I saw you throw in Combustion to improve performance and my brain collapsed.
  21. There's nothing that formal. RP'ers tend to have something in their bio that says ((RP)) or whatever... heck, the mere fact that they HAVE a bio puts them in that camp. And they will say things like ((anyone got a wakie?)) in between the "Foul foe! I have fallen! Fie!" statements.

As far as I know from doing missions with them, they mostly just try to lead by example.

Maybe there are all sorts of deep RP'ing exchanges that I haven't gotten into.
  22. Tyger42: Appalling "new" exploit. New to me, that is.
  23. Fulmens

    Back to Basics

... well, you can buy jetpacks in the shadow shard (or grandville).

My midlevel villains are like "Travel powers are for chumps!" They have a lot of time to work out their punchlines, taking the jetpack to the far end of Nerva...
  24. I was getting greedy in the Inf Destruction Project, trying to shuffle things with really high priced tags AND make money. I've pulled in my horns a little (where does that phrase come from? It makes no sense. They're HORNS, they're fixed, that's how they work. Right? ) and gone back to making 5-10 million on a 5-10 million investment, per item lovingly handcrafted and sold. (I don't like "Crap" as a portmanteau word. For some reason.)

I would like to go through ten slots a day a character. Also I would like a pony.
