  1. Within spitting distance of 7.5 billion. Grr.
  2. OK, I should have said this in my original post.

If you want goodies, let me know hero or villainside, how much you'd like matched, and what hours you normally play.
  3. ... maybe they should restore it to the original 3-4 second activation time?

    Careful what you ask for.
  4. Nobody's ever said it will. So... it might.

    Thank you Devs

... harder to farm, don't you mean?
  6. "old topic is old"- and everything's new to someone. Whatever.

It hasn't had a big buff, but apparently it was enough that Invulnerability is now very good.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think the main buff was to the way IO's treat typed damage. You can now easily get very high smash/lethal/fire/cold defense [and probably get en/neg as well, I just know Aegis and Kin Combat off the top of my head. ]

Regen's always struck me as a "spectacular at level 10, mediocre at level 40" set... but I've always been playing other scrappers instead. My wife loves Regen, but she started on Blasters, so it's a survival-fest to her, by comparison.
  7. I've got a "matching Inf" offer going. If you want to turn your inf into Prestige, I will match that inf.

    Frequent Answers:

Yes, the 500:1 ratio is high. Even 250:1 is high.

    No, it's not a trap.

    I'm crossposting because it's a new audience.

I match up to 100 million inf (I give you 100 million, you convert 200 million, your SG gets 400,000 prestige.)

I am doing this for my own weird reasons.

Virtue seems like it would have a disproportionate number of supergroups and villain groups, and some of them could probably use a hand.

    Any other questions?
  8. I'd probably have just gone with "Forever Burning" but, hey, not my mind.
  9. Eldorado: Yes, that was my point. It wasn't working and they changed it.

Whisper: Well, yeah, if you knew about the 60-day rule and you got called up, you could have done something about it. There were at least two people who posted on the forums because they didn't know about the rule, went off to get shot at and came back to a surprise. It was like some lame RPG jodie.
  10. Kendo: I gave you two alternatives.

    1) Build up your Defense.
    2) Build up your Recharge.

... or are you trying to pretend your Firetank doesn't get a good chunk of its mitigation from Healing Flames?

txpoodoo: You aren't actually understanding MY point. Someone once said "Every complex problem has a simple, easily understood answer... that is wrong." Your simple, easily understood answer, is wrong. People would make characters that were both Defense monsters and Resistance monsters, at the same time.

Why do people try to become an ebil billionaire selling crafted enhancements?

I see things that cost 1 million to craft selling for 7 million or so.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ... because it WORKS.

I know people are stupid and rich, but I still have trouble believing that anyone would see "20 mil, 20 mil, 60 mil, 20 mil, 60 mil" in the SAME "last 5" and pay the 60 million price.

Whereas a week or two ago, Blessings of the Zephyr/knockback had recipe prices at 20 mil constantly, and crafted prices at 50-60 mil constantly. It didn't last but I made about 200 million inf that way (and destroyed around 50 million that way, as per the Inf Destruction Project. )
  12. It's a number. They had to set it once, and they chose 53 instead of 50. Not exactly a ton of work.

Besides, resetting 51-53 HOs would literally be a nerf for no good reason.
  13. One of my friends used to hold "costume and bio" contests back in '05.

He said it was really, really funny to see how many people showed up with typo-filled bios they had clearly made up between the time he announced the contest and the time he held it.

I'm pondering having a "second costume contest": winner gets a set of halloween salvage and an escort to the nice lady in Croatoa and back.

    CoX Lite?

Just wanted to mention that CoH on dialup was "problematic" since maybe CoV went live. I had a friend who finally had to get my help with a mission because he'd get most of the way through and then get mapserved on the last room. It happened to him about six times in a row.
  15. Maybe it's really cool to give you an incentive to work hard at SOMETHING in this game.

    New to Ebil

During the event, common IO's will sell for ridiculous prices.

During and after, almost anything that normally makes money will make around twice as much.

    I'm not doing much differently.
  17. Fireball + Fire Breath will drop most minions, if used correctly. I know you can't melee them if the're dead... but personally, I can live with that sacrifice.

I remember Inert Gas selling for over 200k each about a week ago on Redside.

    Yeah, someone broked the market.

    [/ QUOTE ]

yup. And with ten minutes of waiting you could get it for 20K.
  19. Your Blaster didn't get "many times more durable as I can get at least 30 % def with little effort. " Your Blaster got about 2.5 times more durable.

So what can I do to make a Firetank 2.5 times more durable? Hmm... let's see. I could give them 30% defense! Apparently that's "little effort."

(Note: the Aegis set mentioned by Dr. Mike also gives 4.65% AOE defense, and I believe you have places to put at least 4 of those. Seems to me that it would be even EASIER to get high Defense on a firetank.)

Or you could go with the high-Recharge option. I notice you didn't mention that Firetanks can heal something like half their hit points every 30 seconds. If you spend a lot of money on getting high Recharge, that could be half their hit points every 20 seconds... so you'd be another 50% tougher.

Really, I think that the IO system makes firetanks TOO tough. But, hey, I'm willing to hear arguments from the other side.
  20. I believe (with no proof) that it did not match the design goal.

DESIGN GOAL: "Abandoned" stuff gets deleted and clears up space on the market server. People learn about the 60-day limit, take measures to avoid it, unless they quit the game. It becomes one of those well-known things like "Get stamina at level 20."

ACTUAL RESULTS: Some percentage of people do not learn about the 60-day limit (10%? 50%? 80%? I don't even know. The people who, when you tell them 'read this', don't.) Or forget about it. People run 132 characters and don't get to them every 60 days. Stuff gets lost. Sometimes, very valuable stuff (full sets of Numina's) gets lost. Turns out that people learn about the 60 day limit by experiencing it, not by being told about it. And a LOT of people get really upset when they get, and it looks like this to them, mugged by the devs.

Sometimes, people can't log in for two months straight for good reasons, like THEY ARE IN AFGHANISTAN SERVING THEIR COUNTRY, and they lose their stuff.

You ended up with a lot of customers who were really unhappy over what was, to the devs, a very minor benefit. If you're unhappy because the game is balanced and you are mortal, the Devs should have no sympathy. If you're unhappy because a minor technicality cost you your LIFE SAVINGS TO DATE, then maybe the technicality needs looking at.
  21. Would the tequila lie to you?
  22. Basically: That. You don't get salvage unless you specifically ask for it, in AE content. And you get salvage *instead* of recipe rolls. So instead of "22 million for the recipe, 22 thousand for the salvage" you get some sort of measurable ratio.

So this is the bizarro universe where you can get any rare salvage for a million, but sometimes pay 200K for a common.

The ability to do fistfuls of common, low rolls has dropped the price for low-level -KB recipes to a couple million or so.

And there are still people doing normal missions... so there's some limits on the insanity. Not many, though.
  23. With the [presumed] disproportionate representation of Miracles in the rolls, twelve 40-45 rolls gives you considerably more than a 1/3 chance (I guess about 50%) of getting the Miracle ANYWAY, plus you have around a 1/2 chance of a Numie and a 1/2 chance of a LoTG. (I think the "weighting" goes from 1 to 5 depending on number of them slotted when they did the math, and I'm assuming that the average of those 66 recipes is about 2.5 because there's so much crap-that-nobody-slots there and the superjuicies are weighted at 5. No experiments have been done to support these assumptions. ) And if you figure the odds of an Impervium: Resist, an Obliteration Quad, a Blessing of the Zephyr: KB, and a bunch of "only" 20-million-inf items like Celerity: Stealth, it's lookin' pretty good to roll random.
  24. ... I get pretty squanderlicious when it's for my own use, as well.
  25. This is a far digression from the Original Post, but you don't _have_ to spend millions and millions on IO's; a few millions will do you.

And a few millions are easy to get. If you want to know more about making money, we on the Market forum love to hear ourselves talk.
