  1. So you're slotting for HALF DAMAGE because the set bonuses are "Too good to pass up"? Those had better be some damn fine set bonuses, to be competing with 95% damage.

Here's how I'd get capped range/AOE- I always overlook stuff looking at Mid's builds:

    Dispersion- 16% (Slotted)
    Maneuvers- 5.6% (slotted)
Tough, with the Steadfast Res/Def in it: 3%.
    Weave, slotted: 8%
    __________________
    32.6% range/AOE/melee

Two sets of Zephyr- 6.16% Range/AOE

    We now only need 6.25%.
Three 6-sets of Red Fortune over cap your Ranged.
5 Aegis (in Tough) is 4.6%, then you've got a lot of choices.
5 Extreme Measures in your snipe, 5 Harmonized Healing in Health, 5 Ruin in any singletarget attack, etc.

This is of course assuming that you never shoot anyone with any of your Dark Blasts and debuff their accuracy.

What would I take out to give you those three power slots for the Fighting Pool? Torrent, Tactics and Vengeance. Torrent does basically nothing but knockback. Tactics -well, everyone pretty much builds to hit anyway. Vengeance- we are seriously talking about force fields. If anyone on my team gets to 2/3 health I look around to see where they are and what's going wrong.
  2. Answer to a slightly different question:

A "level 40 set" actually drops between 20 and 40. Depending on the set, and what you're slotting, you may do just fine with level 36-39's. Which are generally much cheaper, but take a few days longer for the bid to fill.
  3. I buy random rolls (from level 33-40 characters) at 8 million/roll. I pay in advance, doesn't matter what you get.

I've paid for 3 and gotten a Numina; I've paid for 12 and gotten 12 rocks.
  4. I had a moment there where I was like "It would be cool if you took damage from helicopter rotor blades."

... followed immediately by the thought "ROTOR FARMIN TEAM FOR BORN IN BATTLE"

    *sigh*

Got a Miracle last night off a boss. Crafted it and checked the prices. Around 80mil for a lvl 39. Recipe was going for about 70mil.

I always figure if you can get [x] for a max-level, you can get very close to [x] for a lower-level that does the same thing.

... I woulda jacked that Miracle up to the level 40 price.
  6. Laugh with me ! Rha-ha-ha-ha!

Another two VG's helped out: Cybernetic Tower and Rouge Island Kick Murder Squad, for 100 M infamy each.

[previous reports of one hero and one villain group were mistaken.]
  7. Other plus side: our hovering windows on recipes are back.

There isn't really a line, FluShots. I do some brief application of sets around level 22. Some people use sets at 12, 22, 32, etc. and some people wait till 50.

I consider the latter group to be misguided and the prior group to be overplanning, but that's one of those "Everyone on the road is an idiot or a maniac" judgements.

[/ QUOTE ]I start slotting at 17 for level 20s I won't replace those till I'm at least level 32 (for 35s)... generally far later, if ever. 20s are good enough for most things... generally I'll replace acc ones with level 35s... since I only slot 2 in a power it will make a decent difference... unlike damage which is generally hitting the ED cap anyways.

    [/ QUOTE ]

... wait, what? I can see (for instance) not replacing generic level 30's with 40's, because there's not much difference between 34.6% and 38.4%. Three of either one gets you comfortably to the damage cap.

But three level 20's gives you 76.8% damage, and three level 25's gives you [before ED] 96%. That seems like a lot of damage to be leaving on the table.

    Am I missing something?
  10. ... with, apparently, a badly built defender.
  11. ... any time I've seen people broadcasting/blind inviting for a hami raid, they started planning it a week ago. Maybe that's a server-specific thing.

Ummmmm, you didnt read everything i am sure.
I repeat my 4 mains are Healers.
You obvously are not from Champion server or you would know i run my Dark Defender through the Praetorian Arc and i SOLO AV's. I am called AV Killer as a nickname and am called by teams regularly who are stuck and need help against them.
I am also one of the few who can kill Romulus 4 times in 60 seconds from the ITF, SOLO!
If you come Champion side and want me to take an unenhanced character through the Praetorian Arc (Again) i have no problem with that!
I do not use scrappers and tanks, stand and scrap is not my style, too boring (too easy). Now if you want me to tank them with a Psi/Emp (very difficult, i am currently working on that as Trauma Storm) that i can do.
    My top 5 are:
    Dark Defender - Felecia Divine
    Grav/Emp - Deep Reach
    Fire/Emp - Divine Witch
    Emp/Rad - Praetorian Plague
    Warshade - Lunatik Frenzy

If you have to ask someone "Do you know who I am?" then maybe you should get it printed on a T-shirt.

The fact that you hold up the cape mission as an example of the only thing in the game that's too hard to solo... that was a pretty stupid statement.

The cape mission is not in my top ten hardest missions in the game. I don't know what I would put in that group, but here's a handful:

    * Save the Desks. I don't know what it's really called- it's in the late 30s or early 40's and you've got to get some evidence stored in a bunch of low-HP destructible objects.
    * Stop the Redcaps From Escaping Through The Henge, in Croatoa.
    * The 10 minute mission. Tina Macintyre, I think?
    * The Vazhilok Flu mission. I suppose that's just a matter of waiting ten minutes between every fight.
    * Anything with the Knives of Artemis.
    * Any mission where you get a pack of five Nemesis Lieutenants standing around together.

Yes, there are individual characters that have less of a problem with some of these missions (controllers for the henge, stealthers for the 10-minute sprint, etc.) but for MOST characters those are really hard.

There are some specific difficulties, obviously: If you're a fire/fire blaster Infernal is going to be twice as hard, if you're a broadsword scrapper Marauder heals back 40% of his hit points while he's got his tier 9 on, etc.

... what exactly gives you so much difficulty with the cape mission? I'm mystified.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Any build without enhancements can still solo missions, Except the cape and aura missions.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I would pay a dollar to see you try and take an unenhanced */SR scrapper through that one Praetorian mission full of 7th generation Paragon Protectors.
  14. My first impulse was to say "That might be the only thing that could make me farm with a 50."

Then I realized I still wouldn't. The most I'd do would be to form a Steamroller ITF or a Rikti Respec.
  15. I already put up some salvage at a million apiece.

About four of them already sold.
  16. If you put up a classified ad here you might get one... how much would you pay for it? 50 million?

    Thank you Devs

Seems to me that if you make your set of IO's purple-level power, you should make them purple-level unavailability. If they're better than purples, they should be less available. And the devs are working on doing that.

The PVP IO's are purple-level power, yes? I haven't looked that closely because they're out of my comfort zone on price, and I don't farm diddly. . . but I have the impression that purples are more of a "once a day" thing than an "Every 5 minutes" thing.

(People do get 400 rep for badges, so there's a system in place that could be used to farm PVP io's, if it's tied to that. )

  19. I could be misunderstanding the basic "point" of the rant... I think it's "I resubscribe for a month or two at a time and then I have to leave it alone. This last time I didn't have as much fun as previous times; I had trouble finding good teams."

To which I say... sorry? Try the global channels for your server? Hope you do something that you enjoy, instead?
  20. I invited 6 people to a Manticore TF this afternoon-invited everyone I could find, took everyone who wanted to come- and it was mostly level 50 defenders and controllers.

I present to you: A Data Point.

    IO vs SO bonus

Doctor Roswell: That's true for generic IO's.

A set IO (Acc/Dam for instance) gives 25% more than "half an acc and half a dam" so two Acc/Dams from sets are better than one Acc IO and one Dam IO. So instead of [say] 36% you'd get 45% .

Around 32 I usually switch to "frankenslotting" cheap sets, and around 42 I start buying expensive stuff. Again keeping the "ending in 2" rule.
  22. I'll happily match smaller numbers. (Be aware that even with the match, your million inf is still only 4000 prestige. )
  23. Update: around 7.7 billion inf. Looks like, roughly:

    481M in currency exchange fees
269M in "overhead" inf transfer fees
3,760M in matched donations to Prestige (my 1.9 billion to their 1.86 or so)

... the other roughly 3.3 billion was presumably all Wentworth's fees.

    The numbers, they boggle.
  24. This weekend was a little weird for some reason. (Latest AE sploit? I dunno.)

Generally there are higher highs and (maybe?) lower lows on the weekend- spikes early Friday night and Sunday night (although I think some of that's moved to Thursday and Monday) with some deep valleys, I think in the middle of Saturday night.

The working theory, last I heard, was "People who play on the weekend get online Friday night, their recipe got bought sometime during the week, they want to get on and play as fast as possible, so they Buy It Nao. Middle of the weekend, people fill up and dump their salvage and get back to playing. Sunday and Monday night, people take the time to fill their empty slots and you have shortages again."
