  1. One of my home servers! I can do 9 for 10 there. What's your global and when are you usually on?
  2. It's shot in Christmasvision!
  3. OK, I'm at "200 million delivered, 600 million in the pipeline." Sorry it's getting backed up...

... Depends on what you're playing and what you're fighting.

Fireball/Firebreath (depending on level, with some combo of Build Up or Aim or both) removes up to ten minions at once.

How could anybody even accumulate enough to buy something at level 20
... you'd have to stop getting XP at 20 and do nothing but do Cap runs.
  6. I don't have a global channel, but I'm temporarily hijacking TheMarket unless people tell me to eff off and get a room.
  7. Oh, I'm @Boltcutter in game, if you're looking for an invite to the SG or VG.
  8. You don't need to be in the SG to play the low level game! Come! Blow stuff up at level 35!

( I picked the name off a Bowie album. I'm old and stuff.)
  9. OK, I formed Teenage Wildlife villainside (Juvenile Delinquents was taken or something) and Midlevel Crisis heroside.
  10. My exchange rate is 600 for 750. I almost always end up having to move the inf from server to server, which is a 10% Went fee- sometimes I move the infamy AND the influence.

Hopefully you can get a better deal- if not, I'm @Boltcutter in game.
  11. Sonic primary is VERY teambased.
Rad primary is very strong, very versatile, good solo and on teams, etc.
Kinetics is a high-offense/relatively low defense set. It has some ability to heal teammates and slightly debuff enemy damage but mostly it is about making your teammates run faster, hit harder, and never stop for anything. And, to a lesser extent, yourself as well.

Elec is relatively low damage even by defender standards but has a couple of neat tricks. (good hold, Voltaic Sentinel is fun at parties, if there's another Elec on the team you can drain all the enemy endurance immediately, etc.)

Sonic blasts are pretty much the bee's knees, or whatever the youth of today is calling them.

Radiation blast didn't work out for me when I tried it, but that may have just been a bad mesh with Force Fields.

Energy blast is "sort of middle of the road" with lots of knockback, which can cause teammate whining. Sometimes, they whine even when you're using it correctly. It LOOKS mighty mighty, which is important because you have to watch it for 50 levels.

If you want to impress the Scrapper in yourself, Rad/Sonic is a big hitter with good defenses [as long as they don't mez you... curse that caveat.] There's a reason Jock Tamson's Rad/Sonic guide is called "Best at Everything".

But go with something that looks cool, and makes you feel cool. This is the most important thing.

    Easy Infamy

Seems most people these days don't want to poke it with a stick if it isn't going to make 5 mill+ in profit.
  13. 100M delivered, 300M more in the pipeline.
  14. General note to new blasters:

When you're playing Scrappers, it's like being a boxer. The work is all in the prep time. You step into the ring and you're going to get hit, and they're going to get hit, and the question is mostly who hits harder and who takes the punches better, and that's mostly in the build.

Blasters are... well, usually, your goals as a Blaster include "Don't get hit." The work is on situational awareness, and knowing when to unload an ABSOLUTE TON OF DAMAGE so they either don't hit back or can't. (When we say "100% mitigation" we mean "They can't hit back from the prison hospital." )

Some of that's in the build but mostly it's in the play. Roald Dahl flew (fabric) fighter planes. I can't remember the exact description but it was something like "Taking the most flammable things you can find and combining them and throwing them thousands of feet in the air where people shoot at them."

... feels great when you win.

    Fire/Mental?

    Pros:

Three ranged AOEs by about level 10 (Ability to demolish entire groups of minions to about +3)
Access to both Build Up and Aim [one is named Concentration or something; it's Build Up and it's good]
    Blaze
Can potentially build for "Inferno and keep shooting" with Drain Psyche
Large, stacking -Rech in each mental AOE
Very few critters resist Fire, and those don't resist it much
Many things that are otherwise tough don't resist Psi (Crey armor, Freak tanks, etc)

    Cons:
... hmm. None of these are anywhere near the "pros".

Drain Psyche seems like it might make you nonsquishy, but it doesn't really. And it goes off in the midst of a big group of enemies.
Does not have the huge singletarget melee damage of /Elec or /Energy
Slightly short on hard control compared to other Blasters.

I say burn 'em until they apologize.

(Also, check my sig for blaster miniguide.)

For me, Blasters are an exercise in aggro management.
... for me they're an exercise in stress management. I play a lot of fire blasters, because of the "BOOM! FWOOSH! Thank you, don't forget to tip your waitress" playstyle.

Now an Elec blaster has a lot of damage that is either pointblank, AOE, over time, or all of the above. Those things are highly likely to anger enemies and NOT kill them immediately. Which is one reason why the Short Circuit/Powersink combo is so good. Because they just go "SO MAD RITE NOW" and there's nothing they can do about it until their end comes back, which doesn't even start happening for... ten seconds? Something like that.

The 1-shot on Thunderstrike is definitely a juicy thing- I had it on a Fire/Elec who wasn't doublestealthed, so I never opened with it. I'm going to reconsider it. 1-shot someone, throw damage while their friends are getting up, maneuver and scheme.

My view on the Fighting Pool is, if you're going to go Defense go big or don't bother. One of my blasters is in the 30% range for smash/lethal and close to that on en/neg, and that is approaching "really good." Specifically, it's one small purple from telling everyone JUST where they can go for the next 60 seconds. But it takes a lot of tweaking to get that level of defense [or higher- lots of people go higher] and you don't even start to get there until about level 45. I did not, on my other Blasters, say "Now I have to put together a huge amount of weird IO's and peculiar slotting to get massive Defense." I tried different things and I'm quite happy with the results on them, too.
  17. Are you doing only Pool C's or are you looking for _all_ recipes?
  18. So... you're suggesting that solving a Traveling Salesman problem is EASIER than just doing a softcapped build?

    Huh.

Dark has toggle juggling that people mistake for layers, but really isn't. The massive heal is only viable with ToE +End and even then is not something to fall back on when going up against single opponents.
    BWA HA HAHAHA.

    ... oh, were you serious?

A lot of the protection of Dark Armor is in Opp Gloom.
A lot of the protection of Dark Armor is in the resists.
A lot of the protection of Dark Armor is in the heal.
... yeah, I layered on Weave and a Steadfast Res/Def and Cloak of Darkness and a few IO's, so I've got some mild Defense as well, but you can practically do that with ANY character so I don't really count that as part of Dark Armor.

If you want to REALLY see Dark Armor look good, play Kat/Dark for the additional lethal/melee def. No, I meant play a Dark/En tanker for the stacked boss-stunning. No, I meant a Spine/Dark for the slows and auras. Remember, when you look at your endurance bar: Black goes with everything.

Yeah, slotting L20 defbuff IOs at 17 does make a significant difference.
  21. I wasn't actually in the BMLS... but it's nice to know my reputation is larger than I am.
  22. As some of you know, I occasionally do a "Prestige matching" thing. You put [say] 100 million inf into Prestige, I match it with 100 million of my own.

To raise awareness of RealWorldHero.com , I'm giving away another billion inf to turn into prestige. 100 million to a customer. This does NOT have to be matched! All I ask is that you maybe mention RealWorldHero.com to your SG. (I personally gave to Child's Play but any donations are appreciated.)

If you have a solo SG you're still welcome to the inf. Talk among yourself or something.

Send me a PM with your global, the server, and the time you're usually on. Pretty much this is first come, first serve- it's probably not going to last long.

    Hero side Sale!

If I'm going to generate something like this, I'd feel a bit of a hypocrite not picking up your stuff in the 30's and reselling it. . . I've got dozens of characters and I play the market on, like, four.

I'll grab 'em and relist for roughly the same price. 10% Went fees, nom nom nom.

EDIT: Got/relisted three Slugfests (Acc/Damx2 and Dam/End) and one Scirocco (the 36 D/E).
All the 30-odd Numinas and the Slugfest Disorient were gone already. If you see a 908 price for the last sale... I relisted below that.

If yours didn't sell, Arbegla, then someone else had sales up even lower. Sorry, doin' what I can.
  24. Yup. Blasters get stunned and held and slept so much, WE HAVE BUILT UP A TOLERANCE. (In the late game it can get ridiculous...)
