Here's my suggestion: As an organizer, don't get bogged down in the skewed sense of entitlement you'll sometimes see on these boards. Of course be open to feedback, suggestions, etc. But everything basically boils down to this:
People are volunteering their time to run events. FOR FREE.
It's disappointing when things don't work out or there is a miscommunication. I could see being pissed if you paid for it. But nobody paid anything except the people standing around in Pocket D running the damn thing.
Ice hit the nail on the head--if you don't like how it ran, get involved and do some actual work yourself.
Also, remember that a small minority of the playerbase actually uses the forums for anything. You might want to consider more ingame promotion than updating the calendar that maybe half a dozen people look at with any regularity. -

Is this going to be hard to learn and with me having little drawing skills am I just in major trouble and getting over my head?
Probably.
Good art requires skill in areas such as:
anatomy
composition
color theory
Good 3d visual art requires skill in things like:
3d modeling
rigging
lighting
rendering
People using Poser/Daz get a boost because they are using meshes and presets done by other more skilled people. But if you want to produce quality work, it takes a lot of time and commitment in terms of both technical and artistic skill. If you want to create your own texture, knowledge of photoshop (or some equivalent) and basic UV mapping is essential. -
Quote:Rubbish. I merely commented on what I saw on the page. Look in my DA gallery if you think I have some problem with nudity. You're trying to get Shia's entry declared porn and thrown out. Not even in the same ballpark.
It's no more laughable than what you tried to do. It's just not you thats doin it this time so maybe you don't see it.
Also, you're making it look like I'm out to get Chris, which is flat out ********. If I have it in for someone, I don't give them my email, phone number, and give them Photoshop tips via livestream chat. Just stop. -
A dev doesn't need to show up and listen to pvpers. By now they have ignored years of feedback from pvpers. Look at all the lists and stuff stickied in this section of the forums. Instead, the choose to speculate on changes that may appeal to players that don't pvp and who couldn't care less.

DJ1--
LOL. I never at any point tried to get Chris disqualified from this competition. Go back and read what I said. The point is/was that the disputed line looked like a nipple. It does. Do I care? No. But that is what I see and the artist can't tell the viewer after the fact that they are seeing the image wrong.
As for the rope binding, many people consider it an art form in itself. It may or may not be sexual in nature. Regardless, all three of Shia's characters are more clothed than Chris' Battlemaiden if you want to draw yet another comparison. It's fine if this sort of thing is not your cup of tea--don't vote for it. But trying to get it disqualified is laughable and you should take it up with Bayani--or maybe even ask Chris is he wants you campaigning this way. -
Quote:Oh please. This image has been up for weeks. If you had a problem with it you could've said something earlier. And it is obviously directly-linkable as it has been up for weeks.
Ok new problem now that I've had a chance to look at both pieces Shia doesn't have a valid entry.
Quote:P.S. It'll be very telling to see what the people who gave CR so much **** for a tiny black line last month have to say about this. -
Here's an update (roughed out the lower body):
Zbrush has always been problematic for me because I'm not good at modeling something in its entirety--meaning roughing out the entire object and then gradually detailing it as a whole. I have more success doing parts, even though that isn't a very pro way of working. And in the past it's been very tricky to add more clay to a mesh after it's been taken to a higher level of detail.
ZBrush4 adds new tools to make this process a lot easier. So I might be able to reasonable offer figurative commissions like this in the future once I get a good workflow down (CH is my homeboy from Protector so he's a special case).
On an unrelated note, after doing work for someone and not receiving payment--how long would you wait before considering yourself stiffed? -
I'm doing a 3d sculpt of Comrade Hero. Today I started reworking my previous effort with some of the new ZBrush 4 brushes and using CH's 2010 ref sheet:

"Tommy...did they say anything about who would be coming?"
Tommy sat on the steps outside their apartment, his arm wrapped limply around the railing. He looked back and forth, up and down the street, waiting for something to happen. Waiting for someone to come get him, even though they were late and the event had officially started 15 minutes ago. He had a sinking feeling in his belly. Everything felt heavy. It felt like the weight of the whole world was sinking on him. If he didn't show, the bullies would win. Brian Johnson was probably already laughing at him.
"Honey, why don't you come inside? I'll make you a cup of hot chocolate."
"No thanks mom."
"You know...maybe those people visiting us...maybe it scared them off you know? Maybe it's not safe for this person to come here any more..."
"Yeah..."
"Well, you know maybe we can catch a movie! Or go to-"
"Wait! What is that? Over there.."
There was something across the street. Some sort of shadow, very faint at first but now getting darker. It was walking across the street in their direction. Soon it would be directly opposite their apartment.
"What is it? A ghost?"
"I dunno. Look! More!"
There were more shapes coming. Vaguely visibly human forms cloaked in darkness. More and more bodies coalescing in the overcast glow of the morning. Becoming thicker, like a curtain of darkness slowly moving towards them down the street.
"Tommy I don't like this. Maybe we should go inside."
"Wait mom, look."
Some of the figures had reached them, casually moving past the porch steps. The vague sillhouette of a man nodded and tipped its hat to Mrs. Cullen as it passed. Tommy was standing now, gripping the railing. Knuckles white, body stiff with excitement as the silent shadow parade moved on by. Soon the area to the south was a solid wall of darkness engulfing the entire width of the street.
"I..um..Tommy..this doesn't seem..."
"Mom! Something's coming. I can feel it! Listen!"
Out of the rolling cloud of spectral shades there was a sound. Faint at first, but getting louder. It was pounding..with some sort of rhythm. It was getting closer..and the sound of an engine roaring as well.
"Is that..music?"
"Sounds like a stereo....HOLY COW LOOK!"
In that moment, everything slowed. Tommy could hear his mother say something, but it was a slow drawn out mumble. His entire being was focused on THE CAR. It slid out of the shadows. Graceful, yet roaring with the sounds of the engine and the music throbbing. It was gold, brilliant in the sunlight like a huge sword of the gods appearing on earth. What was it? A Camero? Shiny metal awesome with black stripes down the hood..stopping in front of the apartment...his mouth moving...his mouth moving and trying react to this vison while his brian was paralyzed with shock.
A man got out of the car. The biggest man Tommy had ever seen. Bigger than Brian Johnson's dad. Tall and rippling with muscles. BIG MUSCLES. He was real pale and had sunglasses on, his black hair slicked back. His clothes all black. Black tshirt, pants, shoes. He was grinning as he came around to the other side of the car. Tommy could hear his mom babbling something incoherently. The man come up to him..stood in front of the porch..right in front of them and lifted up a sleeve, flexing and exposing all of the tattoo on that arm. It was a naked, purple-skinned lady with a gun and bottle of whiskey, wearing a sombrero. The man moved his arm and the rippling movement under the skin made it look like she was dancing. Above the woman there were two big fancy letters:
FD
"Come on *******! Let's go!" -
Here's a wip of a commission I'm working on. Terratonic's character Wendy Wildstar:
-
I don't know if people realize this or not, but every time someone commissions Foo he goes out and clubs a baby seal.
-
Lol, nah. That's not a belly button. It's just a variation on the line weight. There's another one by her left armpit.

Quote:3 people started the month. You had immunity, meaning you were safe regardless of whether Shia or Pyro got voted out. Pyro withdrew, leaving 2 for the next round, for which Wassy has already given the theme. Your premise, which is false based on the way things have run in the past, is that Pyro withdrawing from the competition does not count as an elimination for the month--meaning Shia must then lose. As far as I can tell, you are the only one supportive of this outcome.
Your logic is neither sound nor valid as your premise only has merit if you completely ignore the guaranteed immunity.
Two people left, one cannot lose and the person hosting/officiating is leaving. The outcome is a win by default.
Why is this a big deal? There are two people. You have a theme. You just need to do the entries and have people vote. -
So are you saying that you don't want to do a ribbon-themed piece, so you're pulling out and declaring yourself the winner based on your immunity from last month?
Wassy gave the theme for the next month. If you don't want to do it, but Shia does, I would say Shia wins by default. Likewise, if Shia doesn't want to continue, you'd win by default. If neither of you want to continue, I'd just say the event fizzled without reaching the end. -
Is that a reference to "it's not the size of the boat, it's the motion in the ocean" or some variation? Should those sprinkles be bigger and more satisfying? I'm not really getting it.
-
I just want to say that reading IS fundamental, whether that sentiment is being used to browbeat someone or not.

Quote:It looks like the areola of her right breast is poking out. That's what I see. The reason is that the disputed dark line is in exactly the right place and it has exactly the right curvature to be that. It doesn't look like some border on the strap, and the area on the other strap you mention just looks like a variation on the line weight. It doesn't bother me, I don't give a crap whether it's edgy or anything. But I'm seeing exactly what they are seeing and it's not the result of some faulty logic or me wanting really bad to see more of her boob. It's simply because that's what the lines you put down on the paper look like, regardless of what you intended.
8. What you claim is a Nipple: It's not.
You're referring to the dark line along her right micro-kini strap I take it? ahhh but you know her left micro-kini strap has a dark line along it's outside border too, it's up near her hair, but I don't see you mentioning that one... I guess by your incredible "dark line near the bikini edge must be a nipple" logic her left nipple must be sticking out of her shoulder then. I think you and the shaper are seeing what you want to see. -
Here's another one I started on paper. Envee's Forlorn Lust. On a donut with sprinkles. Holding a cigar.
