She squinted in the light and dangled a blurry hand in front of her face. Figures darted back and forth around the bed, the machines pulsing and chirping as they came and went. There was a shadow above to the right. It tapered to a long tube that hung down and was secured to her other arm. She began to claw away the bandages. A woman took her hand.

"Oh dear don't. We're not ready to remove that yet."
    "It isn't necessary."
"Honey you've been through a lot...don't worry. Just be patient and we'll have you back up on your feet in no time."
    "I'm not worried."

She focused her vision on the doctor. Young man. Dark features. Middle Eastern, early thirties. He caught her gaze and leaned forward shining a small light in her eyes. He mumbled something to a nurse about vital signs. He took her hand in his palm.

    "How are you feeling?"
    "Adequate."
"Adequate?" He laughed. "That's an interesting response. Any dizziness? Headache? Any strange sensations?"
    "No."
"How about temperature? Do you feel hot or cold?"
    "No."
"How is your mood? Feeling sad at all?"
    "I want to leave."
"Well you are doing very well physically but we don't want to rush things..but I do have a surprise for you."

He stood up and nodded to a nurse. The was a slight commotion as a middle-aged couple entered the room and made their way to the bed. The woman was well manicured and perfumed with a tangled nest of dyed blond hair. Her embrace as she leaned down was firm but faltered quickly. She covered her mouth as she stood back up. Wide desperate eyes. In contrast, the man was relaxed. Even jovial as he patted her hand. Like an inmate set free, some great burden lifted.

"Hi honey. How do you feel?"
The woman leaned down again. "Callie..sweetie. We love you..we're so happy...to have you back." She covered her mouth again as she straightened up and the man put his arm around her.

She shifted in the bed and smiled wanly. "Hi."

"Oh you look so pale.." The blond glanced furtively around the room at the nurses. "Is there anything we can get you? Are you hungry or thirsty? You haven't had any...." She trailed off, mumbling inaudibly. The man shrugged and put his arm around the woman's shoulder.
"I'm sure they're taking excellent care of her dear."

She raised her hand, signaling the doctor.

"Oh..yes dear what do you need."
"Can I speak to you alone for a moment?"
"Oh..um.." He looked at the couple. "Mr. and Mrs. Greene, would you mind stepping outside for a moment?"
"Oh of course not. We'll be right outside." The man smiled and led his wife towards the door. She looked back over his arm as they left.
"Dear we'll be right outside if you need us."

The doctor took a seat next to the bed and took her hand as a nurse pulled a curtain around the bed.

    "What's wrong?"
    "Who were those people?"
"Oh.." He glanced towards the doorway. "That was Mr. and Mrs.Greene. Your parents. You don't remember them?"
    "No."
"Well you were in a coma here for a week. Memory loss is not uncommon for this situation. Try not to be alarmed it will come back grad-"
    "I'm not alarmed."

He leaned back in the chair. "Why don't you clear your mind for a moment and tell me whatever memory pops into your head."

She stared blankly at the ceiling for a moment.

    "Just my name."
    "Callie Green.."
    "No."
    "Oh? What is it then?"
    "Recursive."
    "Pardon? What did you say?"
    "My name is Recursive."
  2. You are now. But it's a slippery slope, you'll start with a few boobies and end up with Naughty Nadya's dungeon. Believe it!
  3. Mr. Skinvitational is just piecing that together now? She can be doing whatever you want her to be doing Foo. Don't sweat it brah.
  4. Hola,

Here's a color piece I did of two characters, Curiously Alluring (dual blade scrapper) and Great Gadsby (archery blaster):

    http://battlewraith.deviantart.com/a...olor-120133452

Also, I'm nearing the 10k views mark. Just sayin.
  5. I don't think the prices are unusual for that kind of commission but the resolution you described is very small and delivered via jpeg. Fine if you're just going to put the image on the web somewhere but not print quality.
  6. The three in the back are looking to the right out of frame. The inspiration for this piece is basically how a lot of people, in addition to finding escapism through acting as a superhero in the game, also use the same framework to play out sexual fantasies, overcome inhibitions, etc. This could be through RPing ingame or shared fanart or stories. Occasionally, somebody pushes the envelope in a public forum and draws resistance, either from other players or mods.

This picture is basically one of those moments from the perspective of a character. The basic activity is kind of a cliche: cyber with a catgirl. The three villains in the back are looking off towards some interruption. The blurring in on the right hand side as well as the bright light is indicative of the fantasy beginning to be disrupted, hence the expression on their faces.

The character on the left foreground kind of appeared during the sketching stage. He reminds me of those people that sometimes appear in the art forum--the ones that never post any art or really participate in any discussions until someone breaks with forum decorum by inappropriately posting a direct link to something naughty. Then they drop in and say something like "post does not conform to two click rule." And that's all they say, lol. To me that's good material for an oddball, somewhat surreal character.
  7. Here is an image I've been working on over the last few weeks. It's NSFW, fairly mild as these things go but be warned. Hope you enjoy it.

    ..as do you.

As do I what? Grammer check in aisle 5 please.

saying someone elses drawing sucks is not a critique.. its a blatent insult with no helpful comments or suggestions .. period.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So what if it's not a formal critique? You shouldn't blow off negative response to your work because it offends your delicate sensibilities. As for the insult part...shackling your self-esteem to your artistic development is a great way to stagnate. Your advice is great for keeping a sheltered ego, it has nothing to do with actual improvement.
    bad advice is bad

Lipe82-- The drawings are pretty good in terms of contour lines. You might want to try establishing volume through shading. If you are going to continue with inked lines, maybe experiment with variations in cross hatching to establish depth and shadow.

NEVER EVER EVER EVER listen to people that says your art sucks when you show it to them.. no matter how good of an artist you THINK they are, or even if they have a doctorate in art history (( and unless there medical doctorate in there some place.. DONT call them doctor.. its just sad ))

    [/ QUOTE ]

If someone has gone to the effort of earning a doctorate, their title is doctor unless they are a university professor. Nobody is going to force you to address them that way, it is your god given right to sound ignorant if you choose to do so.

If you want to get better, you listen to negative criticism of your work. If someone says your drawing sucks, especially a more accomplished artist, it probably DOES suck. And it gets worse as you improve because fewer people are likely to give you an honest reply.

A general principle of criticism is tact. You try to get your point across without insulting or discouraging someone. In amateur art circles this gets twisted to mean that nothing is truly bad and that people who give you blunt appraisals are just douches who are trying to tear your ego down. That's a really unfortunate mindset that has taken root in many places.
  10. Is there some concern here over an immaculate traditional media original? If not, the proportional issues could be corrected in Photoshop in about ten minutes. His linework and shading are great. His anatomy is excellent, he just has a few elements out of scale. I would keep the head the size it is. Everything else from the waist up I would scale up maybe 5% (subsequently moving the head into the correct position). Then I would enlarge the entire left arm until the bicept was in correct proportion to the shoulder area. This would bring the left hand out of proportion, but it would make sense visually as coming forward in space relative to the rest of the body.
  11. Happy Birthday. My gallery is linked in my sig and my commission rates are in my journal.

Love it... you gonna color color?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I thought about it when I was drawing but it was lagging the crap out of my machine so I stopped.
  13. Here are my two latest:

    Nike

My rates are on my front page.
  14. Zbrush's native uv texturing is the system that causes the least distortion along uv seams, but to do so it breaks the surface into rectangular tiles that you can't really edit in photoshop.

I would recommend creating your uvs in another 3d package then bringing the base mesh into Zbrush. Or use the ZApplink plugin to apply photoshop painting to the ZBrush texture.
  15. Thanks guys,

I thought people might like to see the contest finalists. The are showcased here.
  16. Heya,

Well despite busting my rear to get this thing done, I didn't manage to make the deadline for the contest. The texturing stage was really brutal since I hadn't done anything like that before in ZBrush, but I learned a lot taking part in the contest and hope to continue with this model at some point.

Here is where I left off, with a partial pose:

  17. Thanks Larissa and Magoo,

It's actually easy to sculpt both sides of the model at the same time, but I'm doing an asymmetrical design. One arm and one leg will have an armored appearance, the others will have a more organic look.

For the purposes of the contest, Pixologic has specified one character per entry. I doubt anyone will combine their entry with anyone else's just because of the possibility of theft of shared assets.
  18. Thx Larissa!

    Here's the latest update: costume

Just starting to rough out the torso area of her uniform.
  19. Here's a couple more updates on the head, about ready to work on the costume:
