I just hope none of the earth assault ranged attacks take hella long like impale otherwise the attack ends up being useless.

The mallets+seismic would be very nice though. Hopefully Seimsmic goes the way of total focus for doms rather than the way it went for animate stone.

Earth assault has the potential to be the way elec would have been if they didn't make it fast asnd "softer" last issue.

toe bombing at lvl 26 is nice. It will definitely be a very solo friendly defender primary, which is always nice to be able to toss around when people gripe about not being able to solo their defenders well.

I hope they actually bothered to redo some of the pseudo pets to use more AT appropriate numbers and while they are at it Corrs could use a review on some of the powers as well.

    Orly?

Fire/ta really makes me wish OSA worked most of the time It would be astoundingly impressive aoe output.

Glue arrow right away makes using rain of fire viable from the get go. Not as potent as fire/dark out of the gate, but still. Nice.

    So, /Cold

    qr

looks like you should be able to get the imps up to 37% def (sheilds, manuev+ 2 def procs, arc fog). That is some pretty tough imps. I like my fire/storm troller, but fire/cold seems like the 2.0 version of it.

The thought of playing another fire troller with bottomless endurance (other than kin) is tempting.
  5. Some concern of seeing cosmic burst go the way of willdom. I hope not though as rad only has 3 st blasts, whereas psy was better equipped to handle the change with 4 blasts.

Something about the best attack in the set also having massive control has me concerned about how it will be for blasters.

Rad/em seems like the clear choice as powerboost is going to mesh very well with it.

Rad/fire has me thinking too about the pbaoe goodness (similar to elec/fire, but with an actual t3 attack.)

Stalkers - Could have gotten Ice, Fire, Invul (ok lol to that, but still) but only got a primary (Broadsword).

    [/ QUOTE ]

I wonder what Ice armor will be like for stalkers cause hibernoob is already in the ppp's for them.

Agreed Ill for doms would be ftw, but overall it is a decent and long overdue round of proliferation.
  7. Frosticus

    So, /Cold

fire/cold or ill/cold for me. This is very good news. I really wanted /cold for trollers.
  8. qr

This should help the market quite a bit. You get a LOT of drops doing stuff spawned for multiple people when you run it solo.

My post is from my experience soloing Dark Astoria with my Fire/Storm in the mid 20s. No self heal, endurance heavy Primary and Secondary. Yes I have char, but it was much easier killing all the mobs in a group before I got Bonfire than it was after. The ones Fire Cages misses ( it's going to miss 5% per cast, so you WILL lose at least two during the duration of the Bonfire, more likely 3 or 4 ) get thrown a long way off in multiple directions, so it's not easy to see them while you are in the middle of the ones you managed to root trying to drop them before Flashfires wears off. Before Bonfire I had to chase one or two down, after I got it, I had to chase 3-5 down. Yes, Five minions sniping at you for the time it takes to get to each of them and drop them individually will hurt you. After the initial kill of the main group, you are low on endurance, and trying to drop things. Applying Char to 4-5 different mobs while trying to kill one at a time is a losing proposition.

I had similar experience with my 48 Fire/Rad. She has much less scatter and much quicker kill speed when she doesn't use Bonfire so I'm going to stand by my contention that it slows kill speed, and is a very situational power rather than something you would use to increase you kill speed vs anything but AVs.

On teams it may not matter so much because the blaster or scrapper can track those guys down and drop them easily. For soloing large spawns, Bonfire hinders more often than not.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've found this to be accurate as well with one exception. Even vs AV's it lowers damage output if you are talking about a tricked out AV killing build.

I was hoping it would be a viable replacement for LS on my fire/storm AV solo'er after Castle defiled it, but it is a very poor performer due the exceedingly long cast time in a sinlge target scenario.

The aoe damage it does has potential in a long fight, but as stated it is usually misses at the beggining that are a concern rather than as it goes on. Once they are knocked out of the patch they are out and will more than likely require mouse targeting.
  10. Hopefully low. The only reason I say that is the constant redraw while playing /thorny (draw sound and the way it makes you stutter around) drives me absolutely bonkers. There are many assault sets I'd prefer over it.

Same reason I can only play weapon sets on the melee ATs and not on blasters/corrs/defs, too much juggling between prim and secondary compared to a melee just toggling up and going.

If they ever make is so I don't need to put away my weapon to cast a power like rad infection (which seems possible based on the nem staff bug) then I'm all for it.

I think I've heard mention of Arena organized cooalitions taking turns killing each other (but I'm not sure if the arena actually drops or not). Also someone previously mentioned that you could just login a new toon instead of waiting for the 5 min mark. This would require two accounts preferably with multiple 50s to choose from (I think)...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yuck, logging in a new toon for a ~1 in 100 chance of getting a drop.

If you have a nice rig and a solid connection I guess you could log all your toons in one spot of a pvp zone and do this, but I don't see this being very viable for arena.

pvp's last night with new patch for 3 hours straight was a 4 on 6 us on the team of 4. got a total of 14 rep out of 3 hours of steady back and forth. No one on our team got a drop at all.

Unless I am mistaken with each rep kill all 4 of us on the team get a chance, for a chance to get a drop.

As in team mate "A" kills enemy "B" to trigger rep. this kill allows each of us on a team to get a chance for a dop. butr since we are on a team that chance is diluted between us all.

  13. [ QUOTE ]

And I'll notice no one's brought back a definition for griefing :P

    [/ QUOTE ]

We don't need a definition, we aren't the ones whining about getting attacked in a pvp zone.

    But here you go

Definition: anything you think is griefing in pve is ok in pvp.

Off the top of my head here's what you can't do "legally" while pvp'ing:
    -use map glitches.
-verbally assault anyone (ie racist comments).

Anything else you might think constitutes griefing does not and you are wrong.

  15. yes please.

I wouldn't mind seeing FF gen fly a lot faster too. Sometimes it just zips along, but other times it's like it is stuck using hover

I have the famous ABko fire/ss on freedom. The 2 builds posted above are terrible.. you need hasten on fire/ss and u will need better endurance than 2.21 and 2.46.. even with consume coming up every 65 sec u will run dry. 2.65 final end use and over i suggest. Plus slot out those sets! whats with 4 slotted posi blast? u scared of better recharge for heal flames and rage stacking? and for the Smothers child build try 4 or 5 slotting a set in stamina. 5 slots of normal IOs is a waste..u only gain 0.01 end per sec and miss out on 1.88% Hit point buff or 10% regen depending on the set you use. I play my tank like regen scrapper..u will get hit and take damage ..u must be aggressive enough to kill and be able to heal back the damage b4 u are overwhelmed. also slot better Acc IOs in KoB. even with rage 26% acc will miss enough times for dark armor stalkers to laugh at u.

    [/ QUOTE ]

First. Paragraphs are your friends. Walls of text are hard to read.

Second. Your advice is contradictory and confusing. First you insist that the build requires Hasten to speed up the attacks and then also insist that there isn't enough endurance recovery in to to sustain what is already there.

As the build already has Consume, Stamina, the +recovery Miracle IO, the Numina +heal/+recovery IO, a Performance Shifter Chance for +End IO and 16.5% Recovery bonuses from IO sets I really don't see where much more is likely to come from in that area..

If possible, could you elaborate as to where the extra endurance to power the extra attacks from Hasten is supposed to come form?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The best way to play a fire/ss is to its strengths. That is what he is talking about.

It is "strongest" when paired with a lot of recharge to maximize the very high damage and to get your key survivability tool firing as much as possible.

He is absolutely right when he says it is a lot like regen. Fire/ss feels and performs like a super scrapper ime, just takes a long time to get there.
(well actually, the combo is absolutely devastating by lvl 30, so not so long, but it is pretty lame until 27 and then just explodes with FE and then Rage)

With regard to the first build posted:

A hasten free fire/ss isn't a fire/ss that is playing to its strengths. Protracted fights aren't why you play fire/ss. Get in, mosh everything fast enough to make scrappers and some blasters jealous and then get out. There are far better tanks for prolonged engagements that withstand sustained debuffs and damage far better than fire armor.

It is running weave, but only pushing ~7% def (10% w/ hover)..why?

Shoehorning extra survivability into fire armor is a fine goal (after you take care of the strengths), but if the goal is to increase defense then it needs to actually be increased. Anything less than 20-25% is effort better spent increasing recharge.

The second build listed just has some weird slotting choices. Really weird.

You also want temp protection and the slow resist travel proc for 40% slow/-rech protection. Nothing says "you're dead and you can't do a thing about it" like -rech on a fire armor toon.

High recharge to get damage through the roof and to get healing flames up more often is the "best" way to improve the toon. -rech protection ensures you can continue doing what you do best.

    PvP Corruptors

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
As a hero, I usually try to keep a lot of +end insp on me because of all the elec/therm corruptors out there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Insp... only n00bs use insp. I wait for geas to recharge like a real man.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I run to the base and then call the /thermal a nub.
  18. meh, no worries. I don't think there is much left to discuss with regard to the direction this thread has gone.

You could try in the pvp forums regarding the pet, lots of corrs are running lev ppp now, maybe some have taken the pet for a spin against real targets.

I only gave my /colds a brief foray into the "new" pvp. When I discovered my slows were of little use anymore (-rech still works though) I said no thx. I think it is ridiculous to disable multiple effects in pvp just because they don't have the ability to figure out how to balance them.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
This thread is now about Blazing Aura, GO!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Is there anything left to discuss regarding LF? I think it is ok to open it up to other blaster damage auras... there really aren't many to talk about.

I'll add this for /fire. If blazing aura was 20ft like LF it would work a lot better in conjunction with hotfeet. 8ft practically requires some tiype of mob packing from the player. Hotfeet by design tends to disperse mobs (slowly) due to the "afraid".

Not a fan of two powers within the same set actually being counterproductive.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Even more of a reason traps needs a pvp buff. Since its defense is gimped, why not make triage beacon a pulsating heal instead of regen.. Although this is still gimped, would add some survivability to it possibly. I would play the set if I could use time bomb as a snipe, as described. Stick it on a squishy and then snipe them to finish em off. Would at least keep me entertained since It does nothing else well.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If triage beacon "healed" rather than regen in pvp it would likely be subject to heal decay and gimp itself into the ground.

See corruptor Soothing aura for reference.

Ya timebomb would be pretty sweet if it was actually a sticky bomb with a remote detonator, but having it work as a seriously gimped version of trip mine is obviously WAI

Ok, I made a new elec/Nin stalker and I plan on PvPing with it. So the question is, how much defense above 45% would I need to achieve the softcap after DR kicks in?

I know there are no exact numbers on how exactly DR affects everything but if anyone could give me a round number of how much over 45% i would have to go, I would be very thankful.

  23. Squishies haveing a DR defense limit of about 20% total defense means lol /traps.

Well more than that means lol /traps, but it hurts cause /traps is pretty easy to get to above 40% def otherwise.
  24. bonefire does identical damage to caltrops. Not something I'd write home about, but if you have nothing else then ok. It also doesn't benefit from containment, which would make it a lot better imo.
