Supported doom is great, as is supported celebration.

On the other end of the spectrum I don't personally see your depiction of the "tinfoil crowd" as any different than blind allegiance. Neither is very admirable to me.

*I've been guilty of being a member of the tinfoil crowd and the blind allegiance group in this very game. It gets ugly on both sides of the fence.

This is my feeling too. The amount of redraw on my BS/shield has worn me down and it is a fraction of what any DP combo would experience. I've repeatedly tried archery blasters and they just end up frustrating me it is so clunky feeling. I know the bane I'm building will end up pretty bad in that regard, but I'm hopeful the performance it produces will override that.

Probably no Dual Pistols for me unless the performance is extraordinary enough to compensate.
  5. Proc in efense is good for about an additional 5 dps in a shriek>scream>shriek>efence chain on a rad/son. Whether that is worthwhile is up to you.

Achiles in RI works out to be about 4% -res over time. That sort of gets swallowed up amongst all the other -res you produce, but whether it is worthwhile for you is up to you.

I definitley put the apoc set in shriek and the thunderstrike set in Efence if you had to choose between the two. That will give you an extra ~12 dps over what you have.

Personally I prefer to derive my survivability from everything except my core powers if it means any kind of reduction in their effectiveness. That means I prefer to fully maximize the damage capabilities of my attacks. For instance if you can squeeze out an additional 20dps without sacrificing any meaningful survivability the time it takes you to defeat hard targets will decrease significantly.

I laughed twice due to this thread. Will check back again for future laughs.
  7. I can't address many of your questions well, but I know you'll want at least ~35kb protection or you are going to get bounced a lot. That + bane's aren't the sturdiest will probably be frustrating.

Even though elusivity is a small benefit I don't think bane's have any, so that also doesn't help.

I dunno I think surveilence+bu+shatter+shatter armor+mace epic blast will just about kill a squishy if you have procs go off, so if you play well I'm sure you can get some kills. Or at least play like a scavenger and get kills like many stalkers do.

In fact the only damage dealing, Non-Pet(Pseudo-pet) secondary power Controllers have that doesn't get Containment is Repulsion Bomb, though it used to before they buffed it (they intentionally removed Containment from it at that time). (I guess /FF Controllers getting any kind of remotely useful offense was too good... even if it was on 3x the normal recharge for a 1scale AoE attack.)

Seems rather inconsistant for one AT to get critical damage from it's secondary... but not even ALL of it's secondary(ies).
Strangely, I knew that acid arrow worked that way as I have an ill/ta and an earth/ta. Not entirely sure what I was thinking with my above comment. Well it was probably the absence of thought haha.

    Thx for the correction.
  9. You are just titling your bug report incorrectly.

Talk about a broken badge or something they care about.

Then mention in the body how the longer root of fireblast prevented you from getting the badge. Do NOT submit the bug report from within a pvp zone or the arena, that flags it for deletion by the system and won't even make it to a person.

An alternate acceptable topic would be how it is negatively affecting your RP'ing in an MA arc.

At no point should you mention pvp even if it is a pvp specific bug.

the advice i got was not to try because it would be impossible to keep my toggles up
the mezz protection toggle is too easily overcome
i'll try it out for myself one of these days
maybe this weekend if i get some free time
This sounds like the old pvp system to me. Toggle management under the new system is about as easy as it can get.

On the other hand, if you like the look of what's been announced enough that it's already put the expansion across your satisfaction threshold - i.e., you'd be happy just to receive what's already been revealed, much less the rest of the stuff that hasn't been yet - then, well, you're already there.
See the problem is that the assumption is being made that the unveiling of more information will inherently be positive.

I'm part of the doom-callers (not so secret) society of players that think GR is going to come with some very major game altercations like diminished returns implemented into the pve side. They could announce another 15 new powersets and DR would overpower it with negativity (for me).

It's logically unreasonable to wholesale accept or reject GR based on the limited amount of information. But it is entirely reasonable to point out that you like or dislike certain aspects relative to what we do know.

A person may indeed be very satisfied with what has been announced. If that was the release they would be happy. However, they have indicated there is "more". The more can (and probably will) be convincing in both a positive and negative way.

Therefore saying "I love GR" is just as illogical as saying "I hate GR". If someone tacks "so far" onto either statement they are fine, but I'm seeing a lot of people guilty of speaking in absolutes and actually getting upset at the other group speaking in absolutes. They are both wrong

And regarding Frost's response to my post:

Yes, you'd be right. But the difference between crying praise and crying doom is that crying praise does not harm to the community and the game we love, but crying doom does. That is purely my opinion, however. Feel free to disagree!
I do in fact disagree. I cried doom about sideswitching earlier. People immediately spoke up and corrected the misinformation I was going on. Had I not voiced my concern I probably would have continued to believe what I believe and been upset about the game in general and that probably would have spilled over into other areas.

A more tangible example would be how the doom horn was sounded about the epic changes that went through where they removed powers. If everyone had been happy and nice about it nothing would have been corrected. Drop rates is another "doom" thread that got us an important game change.

Generally though the voice of doom is considerably smaller than the supporting voice. A single doom calling ranting about server mergers (for instance) can unite a whole group of people together to dispel that notion. All you have to do is look to the Matrix to understand that societies need discord to function

  16. Just like in game I'm seeing a LOT more pve jerks flexing their epeens than I see pvp'ers.

OP is getting pissed cause you guys are trolling his thread...repeatedly. I'd get pissed too, he obviously put some time and effort into the OP. You don't have to read it, agree with it, like it, or even think about it. However, if you think it is in the wrong section that was covered in the 2nd POST. Mindlessly repeating it is at best displaying you have no reading comprehension, but are more likely just trolling the guy.

If you feel it is in the wrong section PM a moderator to have it moved. No one cares that you think it is in the wrong section because it was already mentioned...repeatedly.

The funny thing is (and hopefully the anti-pvp carebears can grasp this one). When you attack Ares from an anti-pvp position with some brainless rhetoric intended to inflame you are being a hypocrite. Additionally, Ares is being true to the nature of a pvp'er by "defending" himself. He may not be doing it in the most effective way, but I can understand his frustration for sure. You guys are annoying trolls.
  17. Assault. Nothing wrong w/ snowstorm, but assault can greatly affect a full team with all the -res you can throw out on a cold/son. Whereas SS just makes you a little bit safer vs an AV that is probably already putty from benumb.

Solo, I'd probably lean toward SS on a cold def, but not on a team and especially not on a team w/ sonic.

This. s/l coves the vast majority of melee range attacks (and more), but leaves you open to a decent number of ranged mezzes that have no s/l component. So ranged def covers most of them.

It might not be quite as good as melee and ranged def in some situations, but s/l does protect against a good number of aoe's too so in other situations it is better. Besides s/l + ranged softcap is a realistic (if difficult) goal to attain, whereas softcap melee and ranged probably isn't on a blaster.

Personally I'd just aim for 32.5%+ on a blaster and use a small def insp to cover me when facing more difficult stuff. That way you can don't have to sacrifice any of the blastery goodness to gain more def.

To me, this seems close enough. Would that be correct? I can easily get below 3.4s with a purple (Armageddon), but not sure it's worth it. The purple would be nice, and who knows.....someday.
depends on your personal tolerance for attack chain gaps. Some people (I fall in this category) can't stand them, others don't mind them.

Whether the expensive IO needed to address the issue is worth it is a personal matter.

I'm not very familar with Kat, but the question I'd ask is that with that gap is the next best chain a better option or is the best Kat chain still better even with the pause?

Ya no doubt, I get that a dark concept would seem strange if it was missing from stalkers, but the way dark armor is implemented in the game just doesn't fit with how the AT plays.

They really should have heavily modified dark for them. Like pulling the auras and adding powers like shadow meld (before it was put in a ppp of course).

I mean dark armor has 4 enemy based powers, 3 of which are auras . You can only remove 1 for hide...

They were pretty quick to remove ice/ice from brutes, but dark armor is rife with AT issues that eclipse that combo on stalkers.
  22. Be happy that when rain of fire scourges it does triple damage instead of double. That is pretty close to what it would be like if rof only did normal scourge and oil slick scourged
  23. These are the powers you need to destroy everything in sight:
rage, footstomp, blazing aura, burn, fireball.

hit burn, que footstomp = insane aoe damage. I just wish burn was a larger radius. Short of the aoe immobs that some FA users have access to, Footstomp is one of the best tools for keeping mobs in burn for a long time. When you add in blazing aura and fireball the duration is usually long enough for everything to be dead.

Temp protection is nice when stacked w/ winters gift
