Breezes through normal pve (minions, luts) thx to sirens song.
Destroys AV's thanks to rad and sonic -res
Actually useful (and very powerful) in pvp
edit: AM is also so nice

1. Zone mechanic that buffs/debuffs faction base on the amount they outnumber the other faction
2. Selectable maps (or just remove cage map plz it is horrid)
3. Inspiration tier selection for match
4. Patron vs app review
5. Review unresistables, likely subtract some from blue, or add some to red (or both)
6. Brute fury
7. /pvp count, or a /whoall that counts hidden
8. Stalker placate
9. Make fly workable (remove suppression, up speed quite a bit, and a bit of -fly resistance or pull a whole crap load of -fly powers)
10. Remove boss class mobs from pvp zones -
well tanks/brutes cap at 90% res, and 3200 hp
squishies cap at 75% res and 1600 hp
Now i'm very tempted to agree that squishies shouldn't cap at 75%, considering scrappers cap there too.
60% res cap for squishies would proly be good imo. -
[ QUOTE ]
how about instead we just normalize the respawn time and add the placate effect to the person who is still in "only affecting self" mode (by placate effect, I mean you can't click on them at all, so no anchoring debuffs on them before they can fight back, and no spawncamp stunning with an auto attack)
[/ QUOTE ]
Makes too much sense... and takes away too many "i wins"
I suspect the real solution is to make a second cage map, but 6 lvls, each half the size of the current floor plan. More lights and more tables/chairs.
Make it spawn way more often than other maps like the current cage does most of the time. -

Number-fudging aside,
[/ QUOTE ]
It's not really very hard, he's not lying about the numbers really.
@lvl 50 MM hp = 803.17
accolades 20%
IO's ~10% (on most builds)
803.17*1.3 = 1044.12hp
Yes MM's cap at 1606 like normal squishies, but their low base hp means they benefit less from +hp accolades/IO's than other toons.
I don't play a MM, i've fought plenty, some are nasty, some not so much.
Poison is similar to cold, in that if you let them survive and kill you first, you've likely just lost the match. So a poison that manages to summon and pop bg before getting hammered is gonna be a tough opponent (for most toons).
I don't have a MM (have a project lvl'ing slowly), but I do feel they could use some arena tweaks. Yes it will benefit poison.
Faster summons - standardize these across the sets, some are quick, some take half a day. Make them all faster.
Faster upgrades - recharge on the upgrades seem ok more or less, but again faster animations across the board.
If a MM could get his t 1 and 2 pets out in like 2.6 seconds, then they would have a lot more options. And might even be able to recovery if they die once. -
If you have nice tohit powers like rage, aim, bu or good -def powers like radinfection, infrigidate etc AND you like fighting CoT or BP then the axe is a solid choice.
Considering most teams shy away from cot and bp are generally only found in a pretty narrow lvl range on the hero side, I would say axe gets outpaced pretty quickly by sands.
Sands is 50% neg energy damage which for the most part is seldom resisted by most mobs that people fight throughout the game. And it is very easy to line up 2-3 people for it and it will generally hit at least one of them, thus making it still worthwhile.
So if you use sands well it almost always hit "a" target, whereas axe is st attack so you really feel the 75% tohit rate. -

lets put it one more way: anyone without stealth - what do they do to complete missions? they have to grind through the mission, regardless of what type it is. they might get past a few mobs here and there, but mostly they have to fight through it. stealth and invis already bypass this.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not totally true. On both my tanks and scrappers I very often bull through missions, ignoring all mobs until I reach the final room. Stealth is not essential when you have defenses and can just brush off the trivial amount of damage you get from the passing mobs.
I would never try this with a non-stealthed squishy, but the point is that not *all* non-stealthed types have to grind through missions.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed, it is quite possible to "ghost" most missions with any toon with just hurdle+cj. Having actual travel powers just makes it very easy.
With a stealth/invis power it is more just a luxury that allows you to stop at more or less any point, rather than going full-tilt to the final room.

I don't mind that he can solo trials and TFs. I don't mind that he likes to brag about it. I mind when he comes around and tries to get the drop rate for the rest of us nerfed because if everyone has access to rare recipes it'll make him feel less 'special'.
[/ QUOTE ]
I could understand your resentment if inventions were live but they aren't. The developers have stated the drop rates will get tweaked and I am trying to point out an early flaw.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then why don't YOU wait until Inventions are released and see if the game becomes 'flooded' as you say? You are making huge assumptions about a system not even implemented yet not to mention a potential influx of so called farmers. You are also making an assumption that a large enough subscriber base plays at your level.
The only one making huge baseless leaps about broken mechanics of gameplay is you.
<why do I get the feeling my first paragraph is something Ultimus loves to hear no matter how much he denies it. I just get the feeling he really soaks up the comments that no one else plays at his level.....please note this musing Castle>

Boss I have identified a problem with the braking system on the new cars; it might result in abnormal breaking under stress and may result in a total failure of our new system
Boss: I think we should let this go live, if enough problems pop up we can do a recall of the whole system (nerf) cause that is better I think
oh I c
So what happens if system does get flooded with purple lewt for cheap and it degrades the whole lewt system that the devs spent god knows how long neglecting everything else in favour of?
[ QUOTE ]
Well, seeing as my post went by the wayside again--I'll address the newest topic. I can't get nukes or shivans, either. Again, I'm just trying to put things in perspective--but why am I going to be nerfed if I can't solo anything--can't do mayhems, can't do safeguards, can't get nukes, and can't get shivans. Again, I think all this discussion is a bit skewed and premature.
[/ QUOTE ]
Any changes made to shivs, nukes or TF limits would have no effect on you then if you cant get shivs, nukes and do mayhems at such a pace, then I doubt you would be attempting to do multiple runs of the same TF in one day
[ QUOTE ]
I don't see any problem, 1% can solo with a shivan, 99% can't or don't. Just because someone is so good in CoV that he has figured out how to solo with a Shivan, does not mean the average Joe or anybody, more than a hand full could do the same.
[/ QUOTE ]
The problem is: if it becomes recognized as a fast, reliable and relatively easy way to get rares (purple) lewt, then more and more people will exploit it. The devs have the reaction time of a tortoise, so what will happen when the system has more purple lewt then it was supposed to? They bring in the sledgehammer sized nerf bat. And we all cry and the devs cry cause they just spent god knows how long on this project while neglecting other things. That is the potential outcome anyway, we know from other games that people love duping rares and exploiting easy to get uber lewt, this issue raised potentially undermines the system.
[ QUOTE ]
Except Castle already said they weren't planning on nerfing Shivans.
[/ QUOTE ]
He also said the range on impale was fine at 80 and it was cut in half like a month or so later lol.
For the record I think shivs are the problem and the only problem in this whole equation. Hopefully the devs recognize the problem and fix it rather than ham-fisting some other solution into the game that wreaks a bunch of other stuff

I would do it too Ultimus, but 2-3 mins is too long
If I can't complete something in less than 2 min then the game crashes and I have to start over again
Na I'm just kidding it's more like 5-7 mins between crashes usually, but you still have to get to the end of the mish so I don't think I have enough time to do anything other than blitz paper mish's.

Forcing pvp is probably not that wise. However, introducing more adaptive npc's could help usher people into a more pvp style of play.
They already started with nightwidows using powerful -perception. Bane spiders with their "AS" power. Succubus using confuse. These kind of things force the pve'er to think beyond tank herd, we nuke.
Take it further by introducing *some* mobs that react according to imput. Held.... it pops a bf. Acc debuffed.... it pops a yellow. Give it a limited amount of these "npc inspirations" of course. Make a few npc's specifically target "support" like pvp'ers do, so they learn to evade and support. Then maybe they won't wonder why they get AS'd ever 5 seconds while they stand in the middle of the street casting RA
Mainly pvp needs dev attention though. Yes fixes are absolutely needed and paramount, but even with the broken system dev sponsored events draw tons of players. Red names can advertise pvp in this game far better than even the most determined group of players ever could.....
Frosticus -
It's funny I've argued both sides of this before. Both the "it doesn't make sense to spend on pvp" and "pvp needs attention"
The RV event was huge. I remember a ton of pvp occuring during it too. When I was logging on there was over 20 instances and most of those were "full". I know all the ones I got into were rank with pvp and very little pve occuring.
RV is dead on live though
How many instances of faultline are there right now on test. When I checked it out there was 1 and it was no where near full. And it IS the main feature of i8 imo (before they stuck in vet rewards a week or so later).
I'm honestly in the "if you build it they will come" camp. Have the previous attempts at implementing pvp been failures? ya, kinda, but that's because the dev's screwed it up imo, not because of a lack of interest.
If the pvp population isn't significant enough to warrant attention then one could question why a zone that according to my surveys has less than 2 people in it at any given time, would be completely overhauled with new art and tech (cause a bunch of cov stuff is on that map now). I know that took a lot of time and given the amount of 15-25 content already in coh that zone will likely be sparsely populated in the future as well. Is that a waste of resources?
Grandville is a graveyard most of the time and a ton of marketing and resources went into that zone. Waste?
I agree 100% that pvp is an advertised (quite heavily too) feature of this game and should be given attention soley on that principle. Does it make sense from a business perspective? Not immediately no. But if a dev supported event like the auto level rv event can pull in upward of 20-30 zone instances (most full) I would say it has potential to attract new customers. Cause lets face it pve in this game isn't attracting many new people anymore and it will only get worse as the next gen mmo's start comming out. But pvp is a unique marketing tool and coh is a unique gaming environment. The combination of the two could prove successful. WITH SUPPORT.

I feel for you, I have video evidence from my toon in i6 and then again in i7, showing a major decline in endurance performance. It is crippling to pretty much any toon that hovered near a balanced use of endurance:recovery.
That idea of the power either using the original cost or double the slotted cost kind of makes sense. I know a number of times I've been like "dang bitter ice blast just used a lot of end", but I've always just shrugged it off and figured I was just seeing things.
Anyway, check my sig to see that others feel the pain too. It's not fun and the fact that they can't pinpoint it is disheartening.
Frosticus -
Suppression not working in RV.
Anyone else notice this? -
Horray for posting 8 months after the last response. Where the crap did you did up this thread from?
You have just earned the mortificator badge, for rezzing this dead thread.

Good vid, some decent fights. One thing I noticed is that you use buildup as soon as it is recharged, often while ET and TF are down. For even more pwnage I would adjust that technique. Good fights otherwise though.
I do no inspirations fights when it is requested of me, but overall I think inspires are an important part of the game.
I wonder how you would feel about the use of inspires if some hami'd out troller locked you down faster than TF animates.
I play mainly squishies, so bf's are a nutritional part of a balanced diet.
Frosticus -
I have to say this is pretty fun. It takes the hours spent envisioning builds with hero planner and lets you actually try them out at a very high level.
I would not enjoy a pvp server than let you do this all the time though. I don't feel any connection to the toons I am building. I haven't suffered through the ups and downs to hone the toon into a destructive force. I even build a spines/regen scrapper very similar to the one I have on live (but included mog to give it a whirl) and I just didn't like him as much as MY scrapper.
None the less, wicked event. Wish they had put in a inspiration vendor that sold at least bfs, maybe greens too, but they don't matter as much.
I have a number of squishy builds I would love to try out but the mez-fest is too much for me to handle. I tried a mind/rad but only scored a couple kills as it was usually an insta-mez followed by death shortly after.
I would zone to the arena/pocket d, but the zoning is taking upwards of 5 mins when the server is busy. Just put in a bf vendor during the event then I would be

I wanted to try out a few squishy builds, but with no bfs accessible what's the point? mez.... dead.... mez .... dead etc etc. If you rolled in with some of your sg/vg buds and built to protect each other ie. clarity/thaw/Cm then it could be alright. But just to try out some builds by myself is out of the question.
Rolled an inv/em tank just to check out that beast in the late game. I was very impressed. Squishy killing ability close to that of the BS/regen scrapper I made, and a butt-load of survivability with tough and aid self. Against other armored AT's it was good, but nothing like the scrapper as the big hitters recharge so slowly.
Fired off unstoppable and tangled with ghost widow. She wasn't hurting me much and if she didn't haxxor (lol may recognize that name if you were on test tonite hehe) with uber perma fear it would have been fun. Not like I could ever hurt her though. LOL mako stealth attacked me too (his version of AS I suppose) I laughed at his sharky face and went back to fighting ghost.
I will say this though: perma -travel power is not really fun (even though my corr is looking forward to it). I am waiting for the announcement about -travel power suppression.
Also rolled up an em/regen stalker. LOL was that ever a kill fest. Never have I had an easier time killing toon upon toon and I have a spines/regin scrapper and an ice/elec blaster on live. I spent most of the time just hunting scrappers cause the squishies were soooooo easy (some were good though, but generally speaking).
I was just running around almost non-stop killing, wouldn't even wait for build up or placate. Who needs them when you have EM?
And landing an AS? get out of here, I didn't find it to be a challenge at all. Some toons moved around too well to easily get them, but that's what intimidate is for. I killed a couple regens without even using AS, just out bursting their healing with ET, BS and TF and a few well placed intimidates. Granted neither of them used IH, but neither did I.
Kinda fun for awhile to absolutely decimate squishies, 3 shot an invul tank (no DP) and rip through a ton of scrappers. But the fun subsides because there was almost no challenge to it. Now I realize FA can and will change a large part of this domination as landing an AS will be much more difficult. But I was still able to scare alot of scrappers with just ET and TF and intimidate is a god send for stalkers.
I realize EM is pretty sick, but I wasn't entirely prepared for just how devastating I would be with it in my hands.
Gonna try a spines stalker tomorrow to see how well that toon kills and survives in comparison to my spines scrapper.

Ya I'll have to make a goto macro/keybind then because they don't have that command available in stock form. I did notice that they do a butt-load of melee damage, but didn't even think of making a goto command to maximize it (I've only tried them a couple times now and mostly for giggles).
Any comment on how the seeker drones spawn for the heroes. Do they spawn in additon to the mechs or intead of the mechs?
Frosticus -
I've seen the freedom phalanx show up a few times now. Sometimes teh heroes let us do it but a few other times we took the zone. I tried soloing positron with 2 spider bots at my side. Let's just say that his /rad is more powerful than mine hehe. But I did manage to put a bit of a dent in his hp's (maybe 5%) before he got angry at me and 2 shot me.
I haven't logged my blaster onto test yet, but it seems that the heavies on the hero side may be more powerful than the arachnos ones (big surprise considering how much more powerful longbow is than arachnos in the other zones). They seem to cycle high damage attacks faster, whereas the arachnos decides to toss in some web stuff instead of big orange numbers. Also do the hero heavies spawn those seeker drones in addition to the mech? So you have a heavy and a seeker or two floating around? Or is there a chance that when you hit one of the heavy station you just get the seekers? idk, I guess I could load my blaster and find out, but I'm sure lots of people know.
Frosticus -
I think a large part of why they didn't make any of the brute primaries weapon based was because the redraw was putting a damper on fury building (stone being the exception, but stone has really fast animations and seems to draw differently than the sword sets). This sounds like the same crappy deal for brutes. I wish they could just give it a quick draw animation and short activation, then everyone would be happy more or less.

One downside of this set for corr's...I noticed that the shield is defense (useless in RV) instead of resistance.
[/ QUOTE ]
Quite true, though it may make those of us that are acc debuffers feel like we did a month or so ago before tohitdebuff got nerfed.
However, considering the amount of non smash/lethal ranged attacks it will probably be useless in most non scrapper/tank fights as well as against FA users.
So basically, ya it will proly be junk in pvp, but you can't have your cake AND eat it too I suppose.

It is going to be a glorious time to be a corruptor. I will smile when I see pages upon pages of nerf calls in the forums. Heroes crying out "They took errr jobs".
Seriously though, it will be tough to build two anti AT templates on one toon. With all the anit stalker powers on builds most won't have room to fit in some counter measures to what corruptors are going to be doing to them.
The other villain AT's will get good use out of the -travel of BS, but the corruptor is the one to watch out for. If you get nailed by siphon speed, LR, or almost any /cold power etc. it will seriously put a damper on your movement.
I was hit by a kheld's -jump and a troller's snowstorm the other day. I moved so slowly that I had to keep glancing to my status bar to see if I was held. That was with superspeed going too.
Pretty crazy stuff, I hope they don't nerf the powers too much when the whining starts. -Travel suppression would be a bit easier to swallow because that would effect all AT's globally, rather than just attacking one PPP.
