I figured out what was bugging me. Your imps are not slotted for damage are they (or very little of it)?
My imps on do 49 dam + dots of 19 to a lvl 50 death mage. I have 3 acc/dam HO's slotted.
That should easily shave off a few seconds for fire as would having them out before the fight starts (but that could be said for all the pet sets)
I suspect they will be just a hair slower than ill w/ PA out if you slot them for damage.
I'd rerun the test w/ fire myself, but I don't have the st immob on my build.
edit: I didn't look too closely at the other pets in the vid, but hopefully they are all slotted to maximize their purpose. Unless this really was supposed to a "lvl 32" test where you'd only have the default slot? -

Wait a sec, this game has sound?!

apparently it does, I checked once. And to my disappointment the sharks didn't play the Jaws sounds at all. After that epic fail I probably won't listen to the game sound again. -

Meh, I had the mako PPP way before all this happen. Mainly just cause I think they looked cool
[/ QUOTE ]My spine/dark Stalker's first of the dual build has soul mastery for shadow meld and dark blast but my second build is made for ITF and has cloak of fear, spirit shark and water spout and the shark throwing can be a riot, I can see why it's handy in pvp.

Sharks do High damage and when a stalker is hidden it crits. I have been hit for over 600 on my tanker by a stalker shark attack. I stepped out the base 2 days ago and my tanker has 2804hp (Not Accoladed Yet) and I was hit by 3 stalker sharks and Impale, 1 bane sharks and a sonic corr and I was dead in 3 seconds. It was a WP tank and he doesnt have high resist like a invul, but 3 seconds?

6 vs 1 how long should you survive when 5 of them are "very high" damage AT's and one is a "high" damage AT.

Probably makes sense. I wouldn't do it 1:1 though for def debuff/elusivity debuff. I'd say off the top of my head if it debuffs defense by 20% it should debuff elusivity by 5% or so. If the power's def debuff is enhanceable then so should its elusivity debuff.
I'm not 100% convinced pff alone is broken (though from the quick numbers I've ran 60-70% elusivity on the power would be better than 80%). However, stacking the elusivity of scorp sheild w/ pff certainly is, same goes for troller ice sheild+pff of the FF set. -
send castle a pm saying he failed at pvp balance 101. I'm sure he's gotten plenty of those though and the epic thread of pvp negatives vs the small thread of pvp positives is quite revealing.
Balancing around cast time when powers were poorly designed to begin with is probably not the best thing to do -
Talk to Castle, shark hits harder than almost all other attacks.
stalker 154 (can full crit)
brute 161
widow 191
As a point of reference such high damage attacks as:
brute KO blow 167
stalker ET 228
widow subdue 126
corr shout 150
As you can see it hits as hard as or harder than most of the "big" hitters from damage sets.
It hits considerably harder than stalker impale from more range. For them it is like going back several issues to when impale had an 80ft range heh.
edit: maximum shark cheese seems to be:
bu impale crit + placate+ shark crit which is good for about 1680 damage before resistances.
Squishies get a free 28% res in pvp, which is boosted to 40% if they take a res based epic armor.
So the stalker can expect to net anywhere between and 1k and 1,200 damage. -
I find I usually shave off about 3 min when I log my storm/sonic def compared to my fire/storm, earth/ta, mind/kin, or cold/dark toons.
/sonic defs make Mary drop insanely fast. Most pugs I'm on with that toon finish around 20 +/- 1-2 min.
<didn't read the thread, so not sure if /sonic has been included as a staple> -

As long as "Fixing" PvP does not involve wholesale NERFAGE of PvE, as it has to date, I'm all for it.
Otherwise... the only "fix" to PvP I could support would be to break it out into a completely separate game.

Name 5 nerfs directly caused by pvp that had no pve reasons...
I seriously doubt you can, others couldn't in a thread about it earlier.
Actually don't here, this isn't the right thread, but start one somewhere it will be hilarious.
That's ok though we know pvp stole your baby and all that.
I agree the interview focused on the char creator too much -

The Merit System sounds potentionally Game Breaking. It'll destroy the price structure of the BM and WW. If the dev's are smart they'll keep the Uniques and Ultra Rares out of the reward choices otherwise it'll take a lot of fun out of the game. Part of the reason for me doing Tf's is that i dont know if i'm gonna get something uber rare or not.
[/ QUOTE ]
exactly this could make things like building a perma dom a joke to do.
I'm concerned with how they will be handling this as well, as this could have substantial repercussions for the player market. Do LoTGs automatically cost more merits than a sting of the manticore? If so, why? It has the same chance to drop, but its bonuses are considered better by players. Will the devs formulate costs based on their bonuses, or will they all cost a flat (high) rate?
hm...
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly this has some bad vibes coming off of it. This could make difficult build's like a perma dom a joke to do. I hope the dev's think about this one carefully. i'd hate for issue 13 to be the expansion that killed city of heroes.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll bet anyone right this second that getting the LoTG 7.5% def/rech is going to take a LOT of merits. It's probably going to take 50+ Katies worth and probably several of the harder TFs. I suspect it will still be quicker to just farm for the money.
I expect market prices to go somewhat lower, but not crash.
[/ QUOTE ]
I honestly think all recipe rewards should cost the same amount of merits, a flat fee. After all, the chances of getting any specific recipe as a random drop are also 100% equal. By making one recipe cost more than another, the devs are making a concerted effort to skew the market, something I believe they have said in the past they wish to avoid.
I think all recipes should cost the same, flat price in merits, though how high that is will be a decision for the devs.
[/ QUOTE ]
Who said they won't all cost a ridiculous amount of merits? Let's say it takes [arbitrary number] or merits to get any specific Pool C recipe. That number of merits can be earned by doing the:
KHTF - 50 times
ITF - 30 Times
Positron - 15 Times
Shard TF - 5 times
Then that would mean that for most Pool C recipes, you'll be better off either just trying to win them or buying them off the market. Because less recipes will be generated after this change (because presumably people will be taking merits as a reward), the costs for the cheaper recipes might rise a bit, the crap ones will still be super cheap, and the super expensive ones will stay super expensive because in the time you can earn one with merits you can earn the money to buy one.
[/ QUOTE ]
I guess we'll see, but those requirements are not very casual friendly and that seems to be what they are attempting to address because casuals don't like to play the market games and can't farm TF's.
If it costs 25hrs of total TF time to purchase a recipe that isn't very casual friendly (30 mins/ katie x 50) + you have to factor in the manditory 3hr wait which would be anywhere from an additional 15hrs (5 shard tfs) to 150hrs (katies).
I'm interested to see how they will balance this out so hardcores aren't able to abuse the system, but still make IO's easier for casuals (which seems to be what they are attempting).
I personally see more value in this system red side where even with funds some recipes just aren't available, but then again way less SF's are run to earn the merits...
I actually hope it drives prices way down, I'm not a fan of purple gear in this game. -
Overall looks decent enough, nothing I'm that stoked over, but a good update so far.
Pain domination - just call it Pain, the simplest things are the most effective.
day jobs - seems like a very hero only thing to me, I don't see my villains being caretakers or city council members, unless they can be "evil cartakers" meh.
was really hoping for the next round of powerset proliferation, too bad.
Patron respecs are a big yes, unfortuantely that should almost go under "bug fixes" imo.
Don't want to crai doom, but these player created missions might flop horribly. limited rewards is a big drawback (yes I realize they could be exploited). I just see it as something you do a couple times and then meh over it from then on. It really depends on how customizable the content is though, if it is create your own mission equiv to "excite bike" prepare to be dissapointed. If it is more like Unreal or something it could be pretty cool.
I expect it to be kind of limited though given they only use a handful of tilesets and layouts already. -
does it pick up player damage buffs? ie hit harder when cast from domination and/or for 9 seconds when used with bu?
-
I don't know how to say this, but I'm kind of a big deal
-
nice work, you need two fire/colds instead of ice/colds, shave nother couple mins off.
-
isn't fozzilie closer to double dominates cast time?
-
confirmed ingame 10000% res to knock and repel
-
I think domination provides the huge res to kb (similar to armored toons), tho the hard number is lower, the res is all that really matters, unless unresistable kb is introduced to the pvp game.
I could be wrong, but I don't think i've ever seen a dom in domination get knocked. I know i've mezzed them plenty with my mind troller, but levitate never did anything iirc.
edit: mids data window (which is pulled from an earlier version of CoD iirc) is displaying:
-5 to knock, repel
-8.3 to hard mez
-8.3 to soft mez (confuse, fear)
and
10000% resists to knock and repel -

Mez I have a different kind of question. I am making a dark/cold Corr for dueling. Can you give me tips how to beat Doms? as i assume you know their weaknesses as well as the stregnths.
[/ QUOTE ]
1. Don't let him get domination off
hard to do if he FoN rushes so if he does that just slow/run continuously, if he doesn't then just debuff his acc until he can't hit you anymore. Always keep him in sleet, tough fight for you if your opponent has high recharge.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd say if he FoN rushes hit him with HL right away and then run away for the last 30 sec of the accolade. All the rech in the world isn't going to overcome HL+infrig.
Another trick is to fight your best right until he pops domination and then HL him, that is very frustrating because they "should" be taking control at that point, but with dominate recharging evey 24 seconds that is pretty tough to do. Some will have trouble shifting from offensive to defensive mindset and may make a mistake.
I would say the advantage is not in your possession though.
One big mistake colds make though is not using HL offensively/defensively. Make your build good enough to not really need the +recovery, so that you can use it when you need it the affect THEM the most.

Here you go ladies and gentlemen: The Art of Jump-cancels.
Use your newfound power wisely.

wow, that was pretty cool how easily you replicated it. I've always just stumbled upon it.
great clip. For whatever reason I'm not bothered by this like I am by respawn camping, though I think they are both similar scaled bugs.
This should be entirely possible on an ice/elec dom, with charged bolt (insta damage, short animation) leading into shiver, block of ice or even iceslick when desired.
I'll have to remember this one to reduce the number of drive by ET's to da face
[/ QUOTE ]
The fact that you see me putting powers on auto like you would for the respawn bug is because I jump with control and click my powers. Setting a power to auto has nothing to do with jump cancels.
[/ QUOTE ]
you lost me there, I didn't see you auto any powers in the vid. I just saw some interesting timing tricks, which I plan to practice for my ice/elec dom -

Thanks M3z, much appreciated
-
I'm pretty stoked for /elec. It will provide doms with a great early maturing secondary. It will be awesome for sc if zone pvp is up your alley.
Also the snipe comes in time for sc so snipe dom building will be an option in that zone which is pretty cool.
Not only that but /elec will be one of the top tier shw dueling secondaries too because of high damage and tohit buff.
Looks to be a home run on behalf of the devs and the first time in the game where elec attacks > energy attacks lol.
I'm torn between mind/elec and ice/elec though. I can see with the kb changes (while in domination) hitting bu>lev> and then 3 shotting them before they even get up.
But I've already got a 50 mind/kin and have never played ice control.
What do you feel is going to be the better zone build M3z and the occasional shw arena duel toon? (assuming of course the broken confuse gets changed soon). -

Castle, can you go into more detail on the cage suppresion nerf, thanks.
[/ QUOTE ]
It operates exactly the same as Hold suppression. Initial Cage will take full effect. Any additional cages will not take effect until the "suppression" period ends.
EDIT:
FWIW, we reverted out the "Not affect players" change to TK, and changed Break Frees to 50% Repel Resist, and 100% resist for Medium and Large inspires.

Nice work, ty for listening and compromising it is very much appreciated. -
Devs must have felt bad about pulling blaster unresistable pvp damage so decided to give them nearly 100% unresistable pvp damage with psy......
Not only that but boost range and double stacked boost range, good night cruel world
I honestly thought dark would go to blasters, it is a great set and would actually perform very well for them. I certainly didn't see the devs outright giving up on pvp in one fell swoop.
They'll proly give trollers cold or poison too, lol @ -special +hard mezz = perma dom degree of mezzing pretty much vs single targets.
Wonder what powerboost will do in conjunction with -special, that is a pretty big number swing. Same goes for fenders with pbu.
Then again traps would perform great on a fender, but lol @ trip mines on a troller, that is pretty crazy aoe damage imo.
That leaves dark for trollers (if they aren't completely trying to break things), but dark is a control set of it's own. In any event trollers are going to make out like bandits in either pvp (poison or cold) or pve with traps or dark.
thermal is proly the most reasonable choice imo, but that set will be huge with fender modifiers -
Meh I worked hard post invasion because I forgot to get the psy accolade on my toons.
Once I realized it is a mere shadow of demonic/archmage in terms of def and resistance the invasion has very little meaning to me personally.
