What is the best way to go about using salvage and recipies at early levels in the game?
Sell. Invention enhancements do not 'wear out' like the other kinds, but they are 'scaled' to your level. So, the ones you can make and slot at early levels are relatively shabby. I would not even consider using invention enhancements before level 25 and, generally, I really get into them in the 30-35 range.
[/ QUOTE ]
There are a some exceptions to this rule though. There's a small number of enhancements that always provide the same amount of bonus regardless of the level of the enhancement.
But...if you're interested in learning more about that I suggest you located a good resource on the invention origin enhancements. The system can get a bit complicated once you start delving into IO sets and procs. -
I'm not sure if I'd really use Fusion or Parallels for the primary means of playing a game ...3d support is there, but it's still not as solid as running either the mac client or natively in windows.
The biggest issue is you're splitting system resources between OS X and your virtualized windows enviornment, meaning it's not going to have as much room to expand into memory or as much CPU power availible since it's running both OS X and Windows at the same time.
I'd avoid it for resource intensive applications. It might work, but you'd get better performance and most likely less hassle either going boot camp or the mac client. -

There once was an accuracy penalty on superspeed, but that was shortlived and a long time ago. They changed it to the suppression that the other posters explained above.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep. As I recall correctly it was the first early attempt at stopping people from trying to attack something and speed away before it could respond. And it was intended to make it more on par with flight which originally had an accuracy penalty associated with it.
Needless to say, that change didn't go over very well and was quickly removed in favor of suppression. Which also didn't go over very well, but it didn't make nearly as many people angry as the accuracy penalty did. So here we are. -
The guide to the mac edition stickied up at the top of the forum has the answer to your question (and more!)

Hi guys.
-Spent lots of time in RWZ; just finished Serpent Drummer's ark.
-Barely scratched the surface of PI, I have done maybe three portal mission tops.
-Haven't touched Cimerora yet.
-Haven't touched Croatoa yet.
-Haven't touched Firebase Zulu yet.
-Haven't been in Eden, ever.
-Load of contacts in FF still active.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just going down through the list...
Rikti War Zone is content you can never outlevel.
PI has some contacts that you can outlevel but your 45+ contacts will be availible to you after 50
Cimerora is another zone you can never outlevel.
Croatoa is outleveled, but as mentioned you can use flashback to get to the arcs you missed
Firebase Zulu is designed for level 40-45ish characters, but the only thing you're missing is endlessly repeating missions with no story content and 4 task forces that you can do at any level anyway.
Eden...not really much to do in eden except for the Eden trial which is open to you at any level
Your Founders Falls contacts are probably going to finish you out on their story arcs and tell you to take a hike at this point. You've most likely outleveled them all. -

Hey, just to point out... that PERC contest. Didnt leave any instruction on where to apply/submit players story arcs.
It didnt leave a PERC name to even message about it. You all may want to post something about that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Due to a delay in publication the PERC contest submission deadline had already passed. So it would be too late to submit entries. -

Secondly, I'm not sure how patrol XP interacts with the MA. While doing MA missions, you don't seem to burn through your patrol XP at all...as far as I can determine. I'm not sure about this, but that's certainly how it looks. The patrol XP bar still functions as a buffer for debt, though, so you're getting something from it.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is correct. You don't get any XP bonus from patrol XP in player created content (unless the arc becomes dev-choiced). It will still negate debt though. -

Your mistake is really in labelling Defenders and Controllers as squishy. Depending on powersets, a solid Defender or Controller can outlast and out-damage a Scrapper in the upper levels. Not every Defender or Controller can do that to just any Scrapper, but it's noticeable enough.
So, more appropriately, it should be everyone vs. Blasters and Squids or everyone vs. Tanks and Dwarves.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think the term squishy is referring to the fact that if you can get a shot in, they're pretty much doomed.
Like...a Fly is squishy. it may be hard to hit but it only takes one solid whack to take one out. It might be able to dodge your swats long enough to tire you out, but if you get one shot in, it's all over.
If that scrapper can find a way to negate what the controller/defender uses for protection (holds/debuffs) taking out the controller/defender is easy. Whereas the other way around, even if you can negate the defenses of a scrapper or a tank, they still have buckets of hit points to go through. And their defenses are harder to take out anyway. -

Unless you can "swim" a few feet up and "float" in the water, then there is nothing new about it, and nothing to test.

It's been a while since I've been in there...but...if I recall correctly, that's exactly what we're talking about here. -

As it should be ^.^
Actually.... Frost can vouch for this behavior as well....
Anyway, sorry to threadjack... again (I think I did it before because "skinvitational" is now my favorite word)

Continuing the threadjack...
Yeeeeah. I wish that wasn't true...
EDIT: Foo, you have every right to be scared... -

No.
Just download the Mac Version from the NC Account page. The clients are interchangeable, you can use either, or both. You don't need to remove anything, just download the client, and login with your account info.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just wanted to stress this.
If you have an existing account you do not need to buy anything at all to use the Mac client. The only reason to buy the mac edition box is if you want to get the valkyrie costume bits. and the mission door teleporter power.
That said you might want to poke around this forum a bit before deciding. The mac client has a few extra issues that the windows client doesn't have, so if playing CoH in OS X is a big deal for you, you should know what you're getting into. Nothing terrible, really...but there's some known issues.
And if you do switch and the mac client has issues for you, you can always use Boot Camp to dual boot a copy of windows along side OS X and run the native windows client. -
Does it happen in other games? Or just in CoH?
-
This restriction has been in place LONG before the magic booster was released.
-
Oh, one thing in support of Macs is that if she's interested in doing digital photo manipulation or video editing type stuff, the software that comes pre-loaded beats the crap out of anything windows itself comes with or anything that the computer manufacturers typically bundle in.
But it's starting to sound like you're backing away from the Mac thing (probably a good idea), so I'll back out and let the other folks assist. I haven't done PC laptop shopping in years. -
*shrugs*
It's designed to make buying lots of accounts/codes at once harder, which in turn throws up a barrier when Influence sellers try to register their accounts.
It also prevents somebody from using a stolen card and purchasing hundreds upon hundreds of codes.
It is annoying, but in NCSoft's business, not really unreasonable. -
[ QUOTE ]
Well I'd also hope that with all I hear about Mac's there wouldn't be any issues to call me about, but that's likely wishful thinking on my part. Just really looking for something that won't necessitate me feeling guilty because I can't walk my mother through the solution over the phone.
[/ QUOTE ]
As a Mac user myself, Macs have issues just like windows based machines do.
The one thing I would say though is that OS X isn't targeted nearly as often as windows is when it comes to internet adware/malware/spyware. You know that kind of thing that pops up messages when you're on websites that say "your computer has a virus and you need to download this program right now!!!" which ends up totally killing the computer. That's pretty much a non-issue in the mac world at the moment. Which, I'd hazard a guess is the number one reason behind parental tech support requests. So that's one thing.
But there's still stuff that can go wrong and require a more knowledgeable person to come in and help fix it. It's just like any other computer in that regard. It's a complex machine and the more complex something is...the more likely it is to break.
But this may be moot as her specialized programs for work might not run under OS X. And I don't want to be the one who has to explain dual booting or Boot Camp to somebody who's not terribly computer savy.
EDIT: You just need to get one of these: http://www.thinkgeek.com/tshirts-app...trations/388b/ -
You're basically allowed one purchase per 24 hour period per credit card on the NCSoft Store. It's supposed to prevent fraud.
You'll have to try again tomorrow and it'll most likely go through. -

My wife and I were ahead of the leveling curve of most of our friends up until about 20 or so. Then they slowed and passed us. Took me about 2.5 years to take that 1st redsider (a stalker) to 50.

Sounds very much like me. I rushed to 20 to get my cape by Monday and then got up to the mid 30s and stalled out for about 1-2 years. Finally did it though. -

None approved but I use
- Vidiot Maps (Puts badge locations etc on map)
- herostats (tracks powers and xp per min)
- Glycerine (Tracks badges on city inof tracker)
- Mids hero planner (character design tool)
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd classify these products as "Tolerated" Well..the first three. Mids really doesn't interact with the game at all. -
Pretty much, yes.
If you can run Boot Camp I'd recommend doing that as you tend to experience less issues. It's what I do.
But if you can't use Boot Camp (no windows license/limited hard drive space/something like that) or don't want to for some reason, the mac client will cover you.
The mac client is pretty good, but there's still issues that stem from it running through the translation layer that has to run through. No getting around that unless they made a true native mac client. -
It happened in one of my missions (non ITF). It's not just a co-op zone issue...it's an everywhere issue.
-
I'm currently looking for a job and I'm fluent in C/C++...that Game Engineer position looks mighty tempting but I can't move out to Mountain View
-
All right. More power to you then! As long as you know what you're getting into
