    Netbook and COH

Yeah, I think my post should be amended slightly. CoH should start up on your netbook, but you're not going to want to be playing it that way primarily.

To put it into perspective, I use a laptop with a Radeon Mobility X1600 which is considered, these days to be a class 3 level video card ( class 1 being the best). I have to have the settings so they're middle of the road and it's still pretty laggy (not willing to sacrifice the eyecandy any more than I already have).

The GMA 3150 is in class 5 territory, two steps below where I'm at.

Looking at the Specs of the mini 210... I'd really doubt if it's up to the task of running CoH. The GMA 3150 is basically only able to run older games well (we're talking Quake 3 from 1999 here)

  3. I'm unsure if this point was made (I kinda skimmed through page 2) but there's one major benefit for everybody if more people are playing the epic ATs:

More people are playing the epic ATs!

Why do you think the VEAT's arcs kinda slowly vanished as levels increase? The Devs write content based on who benefits the most from it. So they're not going to devote tons of time working on content for an AT a very small fraction of players can access. And they frontloaded that content because, statistically, the largest number of the VEATs are going to be level 20 and below.

So more people playing them = larger benefit to making more epic AT specific content in the future.

How, exactly, is this a bad thing?
  4. I have an Radeon X1600 that is borderline playable. Can't imagine playing it on any less.

Also your RAM is going to be a huge issue. 1GB recommended minimum. 2GB or more is best.
  5. Regarding question number 2, you can find more information about the respec trial than you can shake a stick at over here:

    http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Respec_Trial
  6. They have to go *poof*.

They basically had to alter the way the entire system worked (code wise) to set this up. Note how it is impossible to actually buy a transfer now, even if you go through all 6 free ones.

When it goes back to normal, they'll be taking the free stuff out and re-hooking back up the pay version of the service.

So unless they did some dev work in the past couple months to support it, chances are you won't get to keep any free transfer tokens.

We found the one person who actually uses the mouse!!

Sorry, my totally unused, never taken out of the box mouse is of the Bamboo Fun variety

Does anybody know anybody who actually uses the wacom mouse thingy?
  9. The biggest difference between the old bamboo and the new one is the new one has 1024 levels of pressure sensitivty and the old one had 512

    Feral Kat artz!

I'm sure Bayani's just teasing as well.

Seems like it was too good of a comment to pass up.
  11. We have...52 minutes left to vote.

Think you may have missed a couple votes there. Looks more like 83 to me.

Of course Clutch has a 46 point lead on everybody at the moment, so he's blowing everybody away.
  13. I don't mean to be a junior moderator here, but if we could move that *points up (a couple posts)* particular thread of conversation out of the voting thread...that'd probably be a good idea. Lest we go down roads that cause our voting thread to get locked and/or deleted.

Me too. I'd prefer to get some feedback from folks on what I can do to improve. But getting feedback that says that my entry wasn't pin-up-y enough doesn't help at all. All it does is make me feel annoyed and arbitrarily dismissed.

I've got no problems with not making the voting cut (I honestly don't care about votes. They're nice and all, but it's not why I'm doing this) and I'm not disputing the fact the he has the right to vote however he wants. Heck, vote based on the best use of the color red for all I care! It's all valid to me.

The comments on why certain pieces didn't make the cut are where this whole situation annoys me. If you're going to try to provide feedback, provide it on the pieces individual merits, not on how they conform to some arbitrary restrictions you placed on the voting. It's mostly unhelpful.

EDIT: Just wanted to make mention that I'll be leaving this subject alone from here on out. Don't want to contribute more to the derail Just wanted to try to explain why I found the situation annoying.
  16. This one's going to be tricky for me...

I have a couple possible ideas though *finishes reading current book to start reading Alice*

Yup. A pixel's size is variable depending on the display. Case in point, the original apple mac in 1984 had a screen res of 512x324 pixels on a 9 inch display. Today's 9 inch netbooks have screen resolutions of (at least) 1024x600.

3.5x more pixels in the same amount of space.

All depends on the number of pixels you're displaying and your PPI value.

Yeah. I'm kinda wondering how I can graphic design up a pinup (With my particular skills being more in the layout department and less in the illustration area) You're lucky you got what you did!

Still, it's a reasonable criteria for this month.

    You too, huh?

I think the point of bringing DPI into it was that it's a good thing to have in the back of your mind when you're deciding how many pixels to use. It's easier to make sure you can print something at a decent size (even if you don't plan on printing it when you make it) than realize you want to print something that you did small originally.

Much easier to shrink than it is to scale up.
  20. My votes:

    1. Juggertha
    2. Johnny Kat
    3. Lousy Day

I think the honor system works here. Wassy posted up above that it's basically one vote per person playing the game, not per account. Hopefully everybody here is willing to abide by that, as hard as it is to police. Again, it's not like there's an actual prize involved at the end, so...making an end-run around the rules is pretty...cheap.

Anyway, my vote will be coming. I'm still trying to pick between them all.

    NCSoft Staff?

IIRC, that was an old picture of the original Cryptic dev team. Most of those folks are no longer working on the game.
  23. Wow, I never would have thought everybody would get something in. Came right down to the wire!

Some great stuff this month. It's going to be very hard to pick who to vote for...
  24. They're excluded due to...er...insurance premiums. Yeah, that's it. It'd be way too expensive, what with the Red Caps stabbing people all the time.
