Quote:Go back in time, and get a young Samuel L. Jackson to play him.this may be the wrong direction to go for Luke Cage, however I have always imagined Michael Clarke Duncan playing the part.
After his steeliness in Thor, I could see Idris Elba playing Luke Cage. Of course, I'd want to see a Heroes for Hire movie, so they could bring in Iron Fist as well. -
Adaptions are tricky business. I'm going to cite a few, as we are talking about an adaptation of a novel that's been around awhile.
1. The Walking Dead
There's a lot of criticism from fans about the direction that the show takes, compared to the comics. Some people like how the show is going, some don't. It is not a "purist" adaptation; however, the basic storyline is still the same, the characters pretty much have the drive as their comic counterparts, and they are still moving along the same plot as the comic.
As far as myself, I've read all the comics; in fact, I just finished rereading them recently. I'm okay with the changes; I just hope that nothing fundamental changes with the coming season.
2. Game of Thrones
Again, lots of criticism here. A lot has been left out; there is so much source materiel, it would be difficult to include everything without having a very long season. The show seems to have hit all the major plot points, while still keeping some character development.
Me? I missed some of the character development, especially Arya. While I can understand the crunch of time necessitating some constrictions, it feels that we sacrificed some good character stories to keep a brief season. (I just finished rereading all 5 books, so I do have some perspective here.)
3. Starship Troopers
When the movie was about to come out, I went and reread Heinlein's book to be ready for the experience. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the movie. It was a somewhat entertaining movie; it just wasn't Starship Troopers.
That said, I plan on rereading the book and watching the movie again in the next week, to get a refreshed perspective on this. I will report my findings once I have done so. -
Talk of resolving plot threads? I'm more concerned about more plot threads that seem to keep emerging with each book. We still have a lot from the first 3 books, to introduce in books 4/5:
1. Griff / Jon Connington
2. Aegon or Faux Aegon
3. The Sphinx
4. Not Pate (also not the Pig Boy)
5. Warrior's Sons / Poor Fellows / newly militarized Church
6. Dr, Frankenstein, i.e. Qyburn
7. Tycho Nestoris, envoy of the Iron Bank
8. The Martells
(I included books 4 & 5 together, as essentially they are one book divided into two.)
Granted, some of these are fairly minor characters, but, in my experience, Martin doesn't really spend time on a lot of minor characters. It may be that some will just disappear with no more than a hand wave, but I expect each of these will have some important role to play, so that means more storyline. I just hope that we are nearing the end of introducing new characters, and working more towards resolving any lingering ones. -
Saw this article on Cracked, which made me think of this thread...

Does anyone else hear an acoustic guitar strumming after saying the name El Gato Blanco?

What, no Great Lakes Avengers movie? Strike while the iron is hot!

Quote:Venture wasn't saying that there wasn't a movie called Starship Troopers, but that, in fact, had nothing to do with the book by the same name. Much like I Robot.Wrong.
In fact, it's had 2 sequels released and a 3rd in production.
I have to admit through, it would be nice to have one that's actually, y'know...good. -
Giant mushroom cloud found in Beijing; soon after, an anthropomorphic turtle began throwing spiked objects down on the populace. Bowser was not available for commentary.

I solo whenever I'm not on a team.
Seriously, I solo quite a bit, on both sides. As I usually alternate gameplay from hero to villain back to hero etc., it tends to keep arcs/missions/etc. more fresh. The times I will team up? TFs, trials, or giant monsters. Or if I happen to see cries for help from someone. -
Looks like we are losing Wasp, Giant Man/Ant Man/Hank Pym, and Black Panther in favor of Black Widow and the Falcon.
I can appreciate that they are trying to line things up with the movie, but I thought the line-up in EMH was a good one. They had good story lines that are spread out over multiple episodes. I even liked the unlikely buddying of Hawkeye and the Hulk.
Unfortunately, Earth's Mightiest Heroes couldn't beat their true nemesis: Nielsen. -
Next up, the Simon Pegg - Edgar Wright comedy, "Hot Fez".

Quote:Homer: Aww, twenty dollars. I wanted a peanut!Wait, i only get one thought for the day?
And I wasted it on peanuts.
Brain: Twenty dollars can buy many peanuts!
Homer: Explain how!
Brain: Money can be exchanged for good and services.
Homer: Woohoo!
And there went my thought for the day... -

I believe the correct phrase is:
"Wonder Woman movie has yet another writer"
This movie is running the gamut of the Hollywood writing scene. -
Sad news. I remember watching the cheesy TV version of the Martian Chronicles when I was younger, which prompted me to read the book. I grew to love quite a few of his stories; it was great to read such hopeful-yet-wary stories of his. He looked forward to the future, yet was cautious of what the future might bring to us.
R.I.P. Mr. Bradbury, thanks for the tales. -
Richard Dawson loses it
Funny, funny man. I loved him in Hogan's and on Family Feud. I grew up watching him; it was great to see him step out of his "normal" character to play Killian on the Running Man. A true entertainer.
You will be missed. R.I.P. -

Quote:Yes, my human only PB is an angelic bounty hunter, sent to find a specific fallen angel, and happens to help out humans in the meantime. No alien background whatsoever.Well, Human-Only Khelds can be quite effective, so that's an easy way out of the 'alien' thing. I've played a Human Only PB quite a bit, and I don't consider her a Kheld. She's a Hero with light-based powers. Easy Peasy...
My WS, however, is a triform, and is the fusion of a Kheld with a 8 year old boy. In fact, the innocence of the boy is what changed the Kheld to fight for the good of humanity. -
You know, this wouldn't be a problem if Andromeda would learn to use her blinker signals...

Geez. Just plain wrong. Bad strain of drugs? Serious mental imbalance? Some kind of rabies? A combo? Whatever it was, it makes me wonder if it is affecting more than just that one person...
