Just got my Ill/FF to 50 over this past Double XP weekend. I love playing her either solo or team; of course, I never really upped her difficulty, so I've got no info for that. However, on teams, I found that Spectral Terror and Flash were good controls to prevent a lot of damage, as well as the shields.
Repulsion Bomb, while a weak damage power, does have the added knockdown feature, which can be helpful in certain situations.
I went with the Primal Forces mastery, so I could get another good ranged attack in Power Blast, Conserve Power, and Power Boost. Power Boost + Confuse can confuse some Bosses.
I almost went with the Stone Mastery for Fissure and Seismic Smash, but I didn't strictly for RP reasons. My troller is a Faerie who doesn't walk; she either flies or hovers at all times. Really didn't want to have to land just to Fissure, and then go back to flying. -
As I DVR this show, I always skip the into. I listened once, didn't care for it, so I move on.
I am liking the show. I would love for some of the storylines to be more developed, but I may be a little spoiled from all the different storylines I've read over the years. (The Kree/Skrull war lasted 8 issues, the Korvac saga around 10 issues, and the Avengers Under Siege lasted for 5 issues.)
Gotta say though: love that they have Hawkeye in it. He was always my favorite Avenger as a kid, I've loved the verbal sparring he would do with various characters over the years. (Cap, She Hulk, etc.) -
My projects for this weekend:
Lvl 47 troller to lvl 50 (already halfway there)
Lvl 18 widow to lvl 30 (already to 24)
Lvl 41 Warshade to whatever he can get
Have to work part of the weekend; just hoping to get some quality teaming in to get as much benefit as possible. But mostly, just want to enjoy the time. -
You can complete safeguard/mayhem missions and get the contacts that way. Obviously they will only talk to you if you are the corresponding alignment; hero/vig for blueside contacts, villain/rogue for redside.
You can also get some contacts by levelling into that range, like Keith Nance, Roy Cooling, etc. Also, some contacts don't need to be introduced through SG/Mayhem missions, like the 1st contact in Croatoa. -
I've been playing an Ice/Ice blaster since Issue 3 and have gone through many respecs since; I have never respecced out Ice Storm.
Like others have mentioned, Shiver + Ice Storm is great for slowing mobs and killing them. And, because it is up more than 10 seconds, if you slot a Damage Proc in it, it will get two chances to proc the extra damage.
All in all, it's a great power. -
Widow: Widows Peak
Soon-to-be Bane: Emerald Huntsman
Crab: Christmas Isle Crab
As for that last one? Christmas Isle has huge crab migrations, so I went with the idea that a mutated crab attached itself to the back of an Arachnos soldier. -
Just lost a couple of purple recipes for me; worst part is, I can't remember which recipe one of them was...
May have also lost some influence as well, but I'm not sure how many emails I had with inf in them... -
Caleb is hatched from the egg of a serpent, which is laid by a rooster, and then hatched by a toad, but only during the days where the star Sirius is in the night sky.
...
Wait, maybe that's a cockatrice? Maybe it was because Zeus had a terrible headache, and had his head split open. Caleb immediately sprung forth from Zeus' head...
Nope, that's Athena.
Seriously though, Caleb should despawn during the day, but I've defeated him during the change over, so it's not immediately.

Quote:I know that quite a few people did earn the old ones. My point was just that changes have been made before to badge amounts, and, I'm sure, that changes will made in the future to amounts needed. We just now have precedent. Then again I was one of those "dedicated" people who actually earned badges like Empath, Leader and Immortal -before- they were reduced. Ultimately I agree that those badges were reduced because for the most part they were ridiculously too high, but let's just say your point is semi-wasted on me.
-
Quote:You could argue this exact point in regards to the previous epic Achievement badges like Empath and Leader; they eventually did cave in and make changes. If they are willing to make changes on things that they previously had said that they would never change, who knows what the future holds? If the Devs were ever going to tinker around with this they would have done it like 18 months ago.

Quote:Asking politely =/= begging. The majority of the people playing this game are helpful and friendly, and will be more than happy to help you if you just ask nicely. I have frequently asked for help and given help when asked. There is no activity vis a vis chatter or requests on the server I am on so, again, I hate begging. This is one area we will have to just disagree on.
If you haven't already, join a SG/VG, as there will be people there who can help you out with this and other things in game. -
A snipe is any of nearly 50 wading bird species in three genera in the family Scolopacidae. They are characterized by a very long, slender bill and cryptic plumage. The Gallinago snipes have a nearly worldwide distribution, the Lymnocryptes Jack Snipe is restricted to Asia and Europe and the Coenocorypha snipes are found only in the Outlying Islands of New Zealand. The three species of painted snipe are not closely related to the typical snipes, and are placed in their own family, the Rostratulidae.
But, in game terms, it's a long range attack, typically a single target attack (although there is a Targetted AOE snipe). Usually it's used to pull either a single target or a group to your location. -
Quote:They can actually have an affect on the game, but it is a good effect. They do give bonuses to prestige, experience, etc. These are good effects, IMO.They're optional badges that really have no effect on the game itself. If you feel you have to get these badges, that's your problem and not the developer's.
The argument is about their design and implementation, which is contrary to how all other badges are designed.
While you may have no desire to collect badges, please do not discount that there is a community within CoH who are avid badge hunters, who will analyze any badges that come out. It's not a problem; it's a different point of view. -
Quote:Sewers / Abandoned Sewers? Terra Volta? So unless some new zones are added I can't see any new Day Jobs being brought in.
Thought it would be funny to have a Plumber (Sewers and/or Sewer entrance) and an Electrician (Terra Volta or the TPS in Cap) day jobs, with an Accolade named Union Man.
But yes, DJ badges are tedious. I left the game right before day jobs came out, and came back right before Going Rogue. As a result, I've been slowly working through the DJ badges... -
Happy Holidays to one and all; best wishes for the year-to-come!

Quote:Did it the hard way on my first badger, but wisened up a little for my second. Here was my route:Did you do the Paragon City sewer explores? That hurt far more for me. Something about feeling like a Hamster in one really messed up tunnel cage... at least the Praetorian underground areas had a ceiling you didn't hit when you stood up straight. ;(
1. Enter the sewers in Atlas, travel to the Boomtown entrance, getting the badges in the middle as well.
2. Switch to the Abandoned Sewers in Boomtown, and trace my path back.
3. Exit out to Atlas, and use the train to go to the other entrances (Kings, Steel, Skyway).
4. Get the badges at the entrances of each one.
It made it a lot faster.
EDIT: And, I'm 8 away from 1000 on my main badger; hope to get there soon. -
Quote:Thanks for the tip!I logged in a new(ish) character earlier today, and they got the Festive badge on logging in, so I suspect that's this year's holiday default, too. Which means it might not be purchaseable.
I actually got it as well on log in, just didn't register through Hero Stats for some reason.

Am I missing a way to get the Festive(Holiday 2009) badge? I was able to buy the Frostbitten badge (Holiday 2008) from the store in the Pocket D lodge, but I didn't see the Festive badge listed...

Quote:While possibly true from the game mechanic, I wasn't actually spamhealing, as my guys were rarely taking damage. You're a necro/dark /dark has the heal which counts as a "hit" to the baddie. (since there is a tohit roll) You were "participating" while you were spamhealing. :P
It was very weird in a way; I'm used to my zombies being quickly hurt, but the ghouls and/or experiments weren't doing that much.
That said, I also had out my Dark Servant, who was doing its normal things. Did he spamheal off the boss? If so, that might be considered the participation on my part... -
I ran these this week on my Necro/Dark MM, and succeeded in getting all 3 zone event badges.
The Nova event I got on the first try, and was solo for it.
The Imperial event I got on the first try, and was solo for it.
The Neutropolis event I got on my second attempt. The first I was duo'ed with a Brute, and I suspect that the Boss escaped at the end. (I'm not sure either way.) I only got a small reward selection screen, so I chose merits. The second attempt I was solo, and defeated the boss. This got me the large reward table, so I got the badge. Did it again a third time for the Failed Experiments badge, defeated the boss again, and got the large table again.
My MM rarely uses any attacks; I only have the one from my PPP and my 2 vet reward attacks. I usually use debuffs, heals, etc. So, it is possibly to receive it just based on pets taking down the critters. -

Being in a group huddled around Miss Liberty, surrounded by Rikti; firing nonstop, sometimes at things you can't even see; wondering if that was the last wave, when another pops in; seeing a group of 6 elite bosses go down as fast as they showed up; feeling jubilation that you managed to stay alive during an intense 10+ minute battle.
I LOVE IT! -
To be clear, it's the portal behind the blueside ramp in the main room.

Quote:It's not all of them, as I can get into Freedom, Victory, and Virtue, but my home server, Infinity, isn't done yet.I'm not getting past server selection, but at least I'm seeing an error message I haven't seen before.
No big deal. Gives me a good reason to work on some classwork, anyway.
