Quote:This show has become "appointment viewing" for me and my son. I'm really liking the characterization, and they've done a fine job of introducing storylines and interweaving them.
I agree with the poster above: The Hawkeye/Hulk "bromance" is very nicely done. I especially loved when Cap was giving Tony some hand-to-hand training, while Hawkeye and Hulk sat on the sidelines and made fun of Tony for getting his kiester handed to him. Repeatedly.
Couldnt agree more....my 7 yr old and I watch every Sunday Morning now as part of our weekend ritual (added Young Justice to the weekend ritual as well) and he loves it. We walk around quoting the one-liners to each other just to annoy the wife.....
Leader: I was going to remake the world in my own image
Hulk: Thats the problem, youre ugly
Good times.
I do particularly enjoy the built in drama between Stark and Cap. This was Tonys idea and like some extremely intelligent people, feels he is a natural leader when he lacks some social skills, while Cap is an inspiration to everyone around him and cant help but be a leader. Im sure thats going to come to a head, along with the Kree/Skrull War, and everything else this season.... -
Oh the difference a comma makes....to make more legible....
I have CoF 6 slotted, 5 slots of Siphon Insight (for the -to hit and S/L def) and the glimpse of the abyss proc.
As to the question of passive endurance consumption, with 9 toggles Im sitting at 1.55 end a sec, and a recovery of 3.3 a sec.
Like I said, Endurance issues really are a thing of the past. So I put procs in Death Shroud and Cloak of Fear. I do wish I didnt want the S/L defense of Siphon Insight so I could put another proc in there -
Quote:Just curious, do you have both Death Shroud and CoF on, and what is your passive end consumption with Cardiac?
Yes I run both and Im fine with it. Let me check back on the numbers when I get home in 4 hours or so.
Kinda hard to check the game from work...if it was I probably would be quickly unemployed and then couldnt afford the game, but then Id be employable again and probably could get a job, but then Id check the game from work....so its a good thing. -

But what really give me the red @$$ about this is the game's closing off a quest line that gives a prereq to something else, particularly when there is no hint of it happening ahead of time. This is, like the rest, undocumented. Had I known that the metagame clears outlevelled questlines AND that this drawing was necessary to fulfill a quest later on, I would have been more attentive to that detail. Neither aspect was known to me and I dsicovered the former at level 20 when a contact was no longer available and I found out the latter by blundering through it on a wiki.
I got this game about three weeks ago and this incident is the latest in a long line of aggravations generated not by the game, but by the metagame (i.e., the mechanics of gameplay and game flow). It's a pity, I rather liked the other aspects of the game. Comparatively speaking it far exceeds the others like this including the DC thing I beta tested. But these gotchas give me the slow burn. I feel like I'm Charlie Brown and this is the football. Sorry.
Okay I see the disconnect....I do.....
Youre talking about a quest line closing before you had a chance to do it and thats not quite accurate.
Yes, theres a story arc (we say Story Arcs in this game, not quest line...but I wont belabor the issue) red side that will give access to Ouroborous. That access is a side benefit and not the point of the arc. Once youve outlevelled that particular arc theres still a number of methods to gain access to Ouro. Snow Globe posted the wiki link earlier.
There are too many story arcs to do on the way to 50. Without metagaming to some extent you wont be able to do them all. Thats okay too...reroll a new alt and do it all again, just choose different contacts on the way up. The game also offers Ouroborous which will allow you to flashback to a previous level and do an arc you missed.
The incarnate arc is only available at 50. You havent missed it at all. Its okay. Please continue on and eventually youll get the badge, or have an opportunity to get the badge. If nothing else, youll get access to RV long before you get to 50 and thus be able to grab the badge and portal.
Yes, some extra effort to get the O-portal is required. No, you havent missed anything. No, you dont need to beg. -
Quote:Procs in cloak of fear is a terrible idea... if only because you need those slots to actually make cloak of fear worthwhile to use, being that it has high end cost, low accuracy, low fear duration compared to tick rate (every 5 seconds), and you might want to buff that to-hit debuff too..
If I'm not wrong, death shroud will break the fear effect every tick, which is every 2 seconds. So yes, bad idea to run both together.
Let me add to Dechs saying invariably by the time I slot out my character (I start putting in sets at 32) I usually have accuracy bonuses out the wazoo. Your mileage may vary of course. Once at 50 Im having a hard time justifying any alpha slot on my brutes, scrappers and tanks thats not Cardiac....which once thats in place makes endurance issues a thing of the past.
So I dont worry about Acc and End Redux as much as some. Currently I have CoF 6 slotted with Siphon Insight (for the -to hit and S/L def) and the glimpse of the abyss proc. Im not unhappy. -
Quote:Its like we're having two or three different conversations in this tangent and its hurting my head....Then you apparently didn't read the SG description, rofl. But no worries you're denial is rich to me.
I suppose some other random group dropped a massive fortune, right after I mentioned I would take up a challenge against the 88's. Of course then they suddenly decided, "hey you mean-n-v, take credit for the implementation, okay ?".
Or maybe... they are market savvy enough to build tremendous wealth in the game, but not one of them ever heard of the market forum and therefore never come here... but of course I know this some how... and can now, without worry of them calling me, out stealz all the creditz.
Or maybe ... [ please feel free to enter in your favorite colorful and wild story, so that i might drink your tears of denial ].
Btw, you have a bit more than 7 mill to make up atm.
MnV, congratulations I think. I havent been to Freedom to see your achievement but lest you think asking for proof is denial of proof Im gonna say, "Boy you should sure showed me." Seriously, I did not think you would. Absolutely thought you were all flash and no substance. I was wrong

Next up, I point out how this fell into our nefarious scheme of encouraging others to burn inf to keep up...thank you for contributing to the cause.

Quote:I wouldnt add this if this werent the market forum...I am bidding on recipes because I believe buying crafted enhancements is a rip off
Replied in game
I find the crafted versions lag behind the uncrafted by a day or two....so when theres a huge price spike cause by an obvious reason (recently it was exploit squishing) I go through and buy up a lot of buy it nao crafteds and wait for the price to rise a day later. I was so certain about Kinetic Combats this time around I bought and relisted as fast as I could and had two characters flip all their slots overnight (at 72M per slot profit). It was a good two day run.
Thats the only time I would look to buy a crafted recipe -
Quote:I missed the double dog dare post. I must've lost it in series of "nuh uh, no way posts". Thats the kind of "hurrah lets go" I was hoping to find in making this endeavor more fun anyways.

No, you missed the "I dare ya" post amongst a series of "I dare ya posts".

I double dog dare you to try to do it, and if somehow you manage to find some sort of exploit that would allow you to actually take the top spot, I will gnash my teeth and rend my clothing in anguish.

Please post a screen shot of your Top 100 and identify your supergroup and I will seriously be the first to laud your accomplishments. No Im not going to go searching on Freedom. The burden of that proof falls on you... -
Quote:Ya know...every time I try to help someone out with the market, either in my SG or in broadcast or occassionally just in tells, I invariably get the response "If everybody marketeered, then you wouldnt be able to make any influence." or "Youre just saying that as a way to make even more influence" Its nice (as always) to see someone take the advice presented and make use of it.
A while ago I made a thread about what to do with a pile of Merits. I got a lot of nice feedback and started reading some of the marketeering guides, and long story short: It finally clicked. Got half a billion on one character to see if I could. Wasn't too hard, really. Still have that, actually. Anyway, I19 hit and I started playing my old FF Defender again. She was running SOs, and it was tme to upgrade. I then had a weird idea: Could I IO her out, yet make a profit off doing so?
Short answer: Yes.
It took pretty much all of December and some criminally low bids, but I got my Defender (almost) fully decked out in sets, with a 200 million profit. No purples, and a few generics here and there, but Rose is pretty awesome now. Got one outstanding bid on an HO still to go.
How do you do this? Well... you need to understand flipping and crafting, and think a little out of the box. I need two times 5 Miracle for Aid Other and Self. That's still expensive on a limited budget, but... if I bought FIVE sets, I could craft and sell three and get the two of mine virtually for free. So I did. And I did that for a lot of the set IOs I bought. Because if I really wanted it, but was patient enough to craft it myself, someone else might also want it, but be less patient. This worked out far better than it should, really.
Congrats....the first billion is the hardest.

Quote:Ganked? Maybe once or twice.
Repeatedly? By the same person?
That's coming up on being a textbook example of griefing.
Your definition maybe...but it would seem to me that the OP was trying to get the "rewards" that are contested in a PVP zone and was defeated by the opposing side each time.
If exploits were involved, or the person verbally abused them maybe youd have a case. The rewards of the PVP zones are overpowered for a reason, because the risk is higher. You are entitled to your opinion but I would never agree with it.
/unsigned or whatever -
Once I get to about a billion and change on a guy I stop worrying about marketeering at all except with whatever Im playing. When I need inf for a build Ive found that 4 is my comfort zone. Then Im buying and marketeering at the same time....usually each character will pick a couple of high inf items and get to work flipping or crafting to make the purchases neglible on my bank account. During the 88 run I was doing the same and paying out to the 88s every week.
I also dont seed any my guys. With the current craze all it takes is getting one of a host of pieces of salvage and suddenly Im off and running. Ill take whatever thousands Ive earned by level 10 and place bids on common level 45 IO recipes and sell them a vendor. This vulturing will take me into the millions and usually I cross the 100 million line a few days after via buying and crafting. -
Quote:"Yub Yub, Commander"I didn't see it mentioned here, but a good (albeit older) series to read is the Rogue Squadron Series. It follows Wedge Antilles and his band of misfit pilots, and has one of the best uses for an Ewok ever put in print.
Highly recommended.
Let me say Wraith and Rogue Squadrons were decent reads. The Timothy Zahn "Thrawn" series was great. Add another vote for I, Jedi by Stackpole. Everything else has really been pretty crappy.
I find the EU books are hampered by the main three characters. Any prequel theyre in is silly because we know nothing bad happens to them, anything more than 10 years post-Jedi is stupid because theyre too damn old. The best stories for my money take place to other charaters around the time of Return of Jedi.
--Frog -
With the advent of gleemail I use 4 characters to place all the long term bids Im comfortable with and canvas two or three levels in the process. Ill let that sit a week and log back on. What hasnt hit in a week Ill see if there are any "buy now" options and buy that way. I have no problems buying something with A-Merits to get the exact level I want if neccessary if none seem to be available
I also print out the recipe finder page from Mids (sans the components.) and annotate which character is making the purchase. I start with the recipes going into earlier powers minus the purples and pvp ios I have scheduled to buy. That was I dont have to store those I can email them off and slot them in my new character as he levels
In other words....yup

Quote:I think you miss the point and the spirit of this challenge.....First - the main reason I haven't bothered to motivate the troops and make it a real effort is because I would find it a real pita to global that much inf from all the various characters on the various servers all over to virtue.
Second - as noted in another thread I was told, "no one would care". Apparently the "wow" factor I would have thought would be fun to get out of ya'll wouldn't exist according to various posts by yourselves. So what would be the fun in achieving it if no one cares, lol.
Lastly - since you already hit the 1 spot on virtue, if we go there now and make a run at it, would it be anti-climactic at this point ? And again as noted "would anyone care".
Now all that being said - would you all promise to be suitably impressed? I would like a cookie for the effort of course.
Do you want this to be on virtue ? Do you want to throw down the gauntlet elsewhere ?
Finally I will not allow the competitive group to be called "crazy whatevers". But in the info section I'll put "crazy 88's competitor" or some such.
In the end this challenge doesnt mean that much to me. But it seemed like a fun idea to simply get a reaction based on how much you all pat yourselves on the back regarding your efforts. That and some of you purposely antagonize the other SG leaders who take the prestige ranking more seriously. IMO the antagonizing seems to be in poor taste. So it seemed fitting.
Any other thoughts regarding this challenge ?
1) Its not to count up your moola and say I "could" buy the top spot. That is not impressive.
2) Its was not explicitly to tweak anyone. That is byproduct or fortunate coincidence. I mean if someone didnt get tweaked would the process still have happened? Yes. In fact, a month after the one (I only saw one such "unnatural" claim) thread calling us cheats we had our largest burning on the winter solstice. The timeline hardly supports that
3) The stated goal was to burn inf. There really was no endgame or machiavellian plot other than to waste inf.
4) We wanted other SGs to burn inf because that would make us more effective. If a leader was annoyed and burned inf to stay ahead of us then that made the plan was more successful. If we never made number one and leaders burned to keep ahead of us I would have been happy.
5) We did tell you to go ahead burn your inf. We would cheer you on. Would we cry when you passed us? Not even a little bit. Im sorry if thats the reaction you were looking for. No one in the 88s would care about being number 2. You would be playing into our clever plot. Maybe not. See #3.
Here...let me give you what youre looking for...

Seems like someone wants to be cool without spending the inf the get there.
Yup, I see the 88s as the equivalent of building a giant laser to carve a picture of ones face into the moon. Ultimately, just a pointless expression of wasted resources in a tribute to ones own hubris that is clearly visible to anyone who bothers to look.
You dont get cool points for "saying" you could build a giant laser to carve a picture into the moon... -

Quote:I think this has been covered...but it bears repeating. The market works both ways. Today I logged on my 50 Brute that I havent touched in a long while. He's SO'd for all he could be SO'd without an IO to be seen. I only had 12 million inf on him.
True. And yes, you're right. It'd far and far easier to obtain SOs and other vendor items then. However, there would a much larger gap in price between using IOs and SOs.
Having 5.5 million in a land where everything slightly better than the norm (IOs vs. SOs) costs 5 million at the very least isn't exactly being rich.
There was a time I had 2 million inf. and I considered myself a rich kid on the block!
Now I have a total of about 2 billion on my main characters, with most of them IO'd out to the teeth, and I don't even consider myself remotely rich. That's my concern.
The concern that the value of 1 inf. is dropping, and dropping FAST as long as anything beyond SOs is concerned.
So I logged on and ran one AE mission then another....40 mins of work and a couple of bronze ticket rolls later I have 89 million
No one only has 5 million anymore unless they want to -
I would be vastly interested in seeing this experiment again, but with a little more thought put into proposal and documentation....not calling anyone a liar or anything even remotely close to that....but others will.
A few screen shots, a better presentation format, and a better description of methodology would go a long way.....
Thanks for the information

This was such a pleasant thing to be a part of....
I logged in earlier than intended Tuesday and see we;re within 3 billion of #4. I drop 2 billion out of my intended 7 to put us within 1B. I figured Id let someone else push us to 4 while theres more people on...it was just me and Granny at the time. I come back two hours later and we're catching up to #1. I burn my 5Billion and we're close. Theres chatter, and I go scrape another billion together....(and by scrape I mean log out, log on, take down 1 billion bid, email to self, log out, log on..) and by the time I get back we've managed to take the number one spot. Color me impressed.
Happy Holidays to all....we have some really generous people out there in our group. Or bored, or wealthy beyond imagination...
To all those that say "Pfft....me and my group could do that.", please do. I mean no disrespect but the theoretical wasting of resources is a lot easier than the actual. Im sure many more are capable of burning that much inf....its the doing thats the thing.

As for the reason for the SG yes I'm aware. That really wasnt a factor in what I was saying, lol.
Really just do it for the fun of it. It wouldn't monetarily hurt me too badly as I'm pretty well set for all the toons I enjoy playing and cycle regularly. And honestly with the markets I work its not like I cant roll up stupidly big bank rolls again in a very short time.
Dude seriously go ahead....the 88s would be your biggest cheerleaders. I championed this project to prove that the most powerful farm build in this game is a patient/intelligent marketeer
To no one in particular lets start the crazy 89s through 109...and push ourselves out of the top 20....who's with me?
