False really? Everything is supplied eventually, Im not a "buy it nao" person, so unless we're talking about something that is no longer produced your statement is incorrect. The floor is still 3million unless theres some arbitrary time frame youve decided on.

I understand its semantics really....but I think all your arguments are predicated on perspective and what you get so vehement about is just seeing things from a different vantage point....

    Extended answer

A flipper finds an item that generally sells for 20 million but people still list at below three.

He buys at 3 million and change
He sells somewhere between 15 and 20.

He has raised the minimum price by at least 12 million and lowered the greatest lower bound of the price by at most 5.

You really need to read the whole post

This example is incorrect. He raised the low end to three million and change. So by your standards he's raised the lower bound by less than a million and lowered the upper bound by between 5 and 0 million

I believe that would be a net lowering of the price
  3. That is most excellently conflicting and supports nothing and everything simultaneously....terrific

It couldnt have been a year....Jaime was born in 266 and knighted at the confirmed age of 15 at 281 before the Harrenhall tournament. So it could have been early 281 but more likely mid to late 281. Neds dad and brother died in 282 and marked the start of Roberts Rebellion. I dont have seasons to mark the early or lateness in a year but it seems to me considering transit times and such that Brandon wouldnt have heard about Lyanna/Rhaegar for a month or two, then another month transit time, then another month for Rickard to make it down to KL to be burned.

Unless theres something to the contrary Im going to assume Lyanna ran off with Rhaegar, Im sorry...was abducted by....shortly after that tourney. She just didnt have time to make it back home and the whole thing to start.

I know thats all nitpicky so if anyone points out a flaw I will give-over. Im not interested in defending it.

    On to another discussion

    From Quaithe to Dany

“Soon comes the pale mare, and after her the others. Kraken and Dark flame, lion and griffin, the sun’s son and the mummer's dragon. Trust none of them. Remember the Undying. Beware the perfumed seneschal.”
    Pale Mare= Plague
    Kraken= Victarion
    Dark Flame = Moqorro
    Lion=
    Griffon=Connington
    Sun's son=Prince Quentyn
    Mummers Dragon=
    Perfumed Seneschal=??

If the Lion equals Tyrion, why is he grouped in this with Connington like Victarion and Moqorro. Of course, if Aegon is the mummer's dragon why is he not grouped with Connington?

Is there another Lion running around the eastern lands? For that matter who the hell is that Quaithe lady?

    I have no idea.

Twrin’s plan A was to marry Cersei to Rhaegar and for Jamie to marry Lysa Tully and eventually succeed him as Lord of Casterly Rock.
Aerys for his part, was aware of these ambitions, combined with his own jealousy and to keep Tywin in his place decided to marry his son off to someone else. Then a combination of Cersei’s and Aerys efforts, got Jamie in the Kingsguard, which nixed Tywin’s plans. That and tired of cleaning up after Aerys’ messes, made him decide to resign and head home.
A short time after that, we had the events that led to Rob’s Rebellion. I think it’s been hinted that had Tywin been there, Brandon and Rickard Stark might have lived.
Jaime was born in 266 AL, Promoted to the Kingsguard during or just before the Tourney at Harrenhal, the same Harrenhall the Rhaegar disappeared from (presumably with Lyanna)...then Tywin resigned, right in the middle of the man hunt for Rhaegar. The rebellion began with Rhaegars disappearance, that was something you think an involved Hand would want to stick around for.

I have no problem with your description of motives, I think your timeline is slightly misleading.

    2) see above
    3) it also ruined a lot of plans he had for Jaime
    4) the biggest problem here is timing Tyrion is the youngest if anyone was a result of these liberties it would've been Jamie and his sister

In terms of leaving Kings Landing, its pretty obvious Tywin was a micro-manager, and on some level recognized both the strengths and weaknesses of his children, and that he coulnd't be in multiple places at the same time. He left Kings Landing with the most capable of his children( no matter how much it must have bothered him)

Really I think fundimentally why he hated Tyrion in addition to the reasons above, was that Tyrion had a lot of his grandfather in him, remember Tywin thinks kindness is a weakness.

This is not to say Tyrion couldn't be a Targ, but I think unlikely
I think I explained things poorly.

Tywin was Aerys' Hand. He left Kings Landing during Roberts Rebellion forcing Aerys to find a new Hand, which is why Connington was promoted early and then the pyromancers and I think there was a Swift in between.

Aerys and Tywin were boyhood friends. Joanna was Tywins first cousin (think about that implication for Joffrey for a sec), I think Aerys already knew Joanna at Tywins wedding and took "liberties" with her. I dont believe it was **** or anything was conceived. It would be much later when Aerys' madness comes to a crescendo or Joanna has an affair with him. Twyin packs up his bags when he finds out and takes his pregnant wife home.

I don't buy Tyrion as a Targ though.

Im not trying to convert anyone but.....

    1) When Jaime speaks with his mothers vision in whatever book that was he got his hand chopped off...she says "Twyin had hopes for his children, his son a knight and his daughter a queen" no mention of Tyrion

    2) Tywin exclaims to Tyrion "you are not my son" as he's about to die

    3) Tywin is incensed when Aerys names Jaime to the Kingsguard. Its an honor but also puts Tyrion in line for the Lannister Lordship

    4) Selmy tells Dany two things....that Aerys was fond of Joanna in an inappropriate manner, and that he took "liberties" during the wedding night. Im not saying **** or anything here just he was willing to go beyond certain bounds

    5) Tyrions hair is closer to white than blonde.

    6) The mismatched eye thing

    7) Tywin suddenly and emphatically left kings landing in the middle of a damned rebellion and no reason is given.

And there you go....think what you will

This statement was said by Rhaegar right at the birth of his son, Aegon. He said that there was another, believing that his two children, Rhaenys and Aegon, were the first two heads. Rhaenys was definitely killed, so we can rule out that she was one of the three heads. So, looking at what we have:

    1. Daenerys - There is solid evidence that she is definitely a Targaryen.
    2. Jon Snow - Circumstantial evidence is pointing to him being the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna.
    3. Aegon - While it is said that Gregor Clegane killed Aegon by bashing against the wall, babies do look a lot alike if you aren't around them enough to notice differences. Of course, we only have Varys' word on this, so we can't be sure.

Of course, we only just learned of Aegon in book 5, so it's very well possible that he isn't Aegon, and Martin may yet pull another rabbit out of his hat to be the third head.
We've kinda sorta learned that Tyrion is a Targ as well. When Selmy speaks to Dany about Aerys, he tells her of Aerys' appreciation for Joanna Lannister. Couple that with Tywins sudden departure from Kings Landing back during Roberts Rebellion and Tywins general distaste for Tyrion and its possible

Aegon is a fake,Tyrion is the mummer's dragon

The issue wasnt that the past naming purge didnt free up names, its that no one used those particular ones. Id be willing to bet an expanded name purge would result in the same effect, Im just not willing to get behind that.

This isnt a problem (for me), and while Im sympathetic to your frustration, admittedly theres only a finite numbers of names possible, I just dont think this will have the effect you want and Im not willing to take something from even a non-playing customer without proof that this will solve the problem for the playing customer.
  10. Someone with better search-fu than me can search for this because I was unable to find confirmation...

When the last name purge happened didnt the devs say that they wouldnt be doing it again, not because it didnt free up a lot of names, but because those names weren't reused, i.e. the names freed up werent ones people wanted....

It seems like we've had this conversation, no amount of discussion is going to arrive at any new point, and the devs have already stated that theres no point in running it.

And please dont cite CO as an example...I played that game, unlimited naming options and still found too many "XXxWolverinexXX" "Deadpools Mom" and "Flameguy" s to have any faith in MMO players to name their character in an in-genre acceptable manner.

The oath of the Nights Watch does explicitly state it ends at your death. Assuming Jon dies at the hands of his brothers (the irony being Bran and Rickon were not killed by their brother but Jon was) he would be free to get with Dany. If Jon doesnt die then I cant see it happening because of that oath and Jon being the type now to hold to his oath.

It just seems like the people of this story take this wall far too much for granted and it simply comes across as that much less "plausible" to me because of it. *shrugs*

Yes the waters around the British Isles can be rough. But just like in this story the Scots didn't really need to go too far out to sea in order to just skirt around the edge of the wall if they really wanted to. And like I just mentioned above the wildlings have had hundreds of years worth of opportunities to catch a calm day to go sailing if they wanted to.
    Whose to say they didnt?

In the books The Commander of Eastwatch, Cotter Pyke sending a letter that he caught some wildlings attempting to go around Eastwatch by the sea exactly as you say. My memory is fuzzy truthfully. And I also remember some wildling king building war rafts and trying to do the same thing by force in some discussed history of the books.

Regardless I was surprised reading the series that so many wildlings were going over the wall, Im not surprised that many were going around the wall.

I will say in the East, Cotter Pyke and the Isle of Skagos (cannibals yeesh) are not easy to pass, and Bear Island in the West would probably prove problematic but the truth is they probably did pass by seas and the public at large just hasnt heard of it.

Judging by the attitude of the wildlings that get screen time in the books a lot of them just dont want to come south. Not until theyre fleeing something or raiding do they bother.

I think the wall was built to keep out the grumpkins and people just thought that it was working against the wildlings in general.

If you're going to be fair, which I like to be, there should be a White Male History Month to go along with all the other <special> History months out there.

No, I think youre missing the point. I cant speak for everyone but in my History Classes in High School (California US) we covered the history and accomplishments of Western Europe and on into the US. The history of Africa was told through the prism of which "white dude" discovered what. South America too if I recall correctly. Asian history was glossed over as well....I found "World" History to be more about white America and its achievements than anything else. At the time I didnt find it odd, but in retrospect after gaining a little perspective its obvious my education was skewed.

Even in college, my only non elective history course was "Western History 1842 to present"

Regardless of educational bias I dont think that celebrating something denigrates something else. I dont think having a Star of David on a public piece of land diminishes Christianity, I dont think talking about a certain culture makes mine any less viable. When someone points out their favorite sports team it doesnt make mine less...I think kids should learn about more figures than George Washington Carver and the Alamo at school. Look at these months as opportunities and not crosses to bear and youll be happier for it
