I want to say Red Tomax's City of Data as well but I cant get to that site from work so I wont post the link as I cant verify...

But seriously, download Mids...so incredibly useful for character building...I cant waste hours trying to tweak a build....only to come back to 2 days later and wonder what I was thinking as I retweak

Its clear you and I define need differently....

Regardless I refuse to have any sympathy for a level 47 Fire/Shield Scrapper not being able to afford all the IOs he can possibly want....really? Cant afford rare salvage? The AE is in virtually every zone...set diff to X8 +0 No bosses and go crazy. Theres an opportunity cost to teaming...salvage and drops, but this opportunity cost is not insurmountable.

He had reached level 30 ish before he joined us, and had no clue how to make cash. He then had a subsequent avoidable disaster where he spent most of his cash saving costume designs in Icon not realising this cost inf

I put together something softcapped and not totally excessive in terms of what it used, the only thing in it that would cost 40M+ would be the oblit quad, but he's a million miles away from being able to afford things like the touch of deaths and the other oblits. Too many things that even for a year or two after I9 were available for relative peanuts are costing 5-10M each for the recipe.

The player in this discussion has been playing a couple of weeks and you think its sad he cant afford top-end IOs? ToDs, Oblits, etc cost that much because people want them. People that want them pay Inf for them. This has nothing to do with flippers but with people wanting things to smack things better.

I dont think anyone was disingenous about this...Goat ticket thread, Fury Flechettes 0 to Billions thread, et al all mention playing solo. If youre talking about levelling 1-50 and not having inf, then people arent being as genuine as they can be...theyre doing something wrong. Even teamed as much ascould, my latest Defender hit 50 with 93 million inf, no flipping and 328 merits stored. Amazingly enough, never lacking in common IOs or SOs to perform well on any team.

Im not the be all end all guy for brutes...I like them...

My build for my Elec/SD is much more expensive than the one I threw up there.

Your priorities are Soft Cap (45% Def to all positionals) Recharge and then Regen.

So with being said...I swapped out your 6 slots of red fortune with 3 slots of Gift of the Ancients. Consider Luck of the Gamblers for the Recharge if you can afford it.

Thunderstrike is made for 5 slots of Scirroco for the AOE defense and the rather inexpensive Force Feedback proc. Some people do other things, I love that one...

More than one slot in Phlanax Fighting is a waste, its not enhancable. LotG mule and there ya go

Pulled those slots out of taunt, you didnt need them.

Made Havoc Punch viable with a ToD set.

Stamina I six slotted. You dont actually need the AOE def from Performance Shifter, so when you tweak thats where Id start

Removed Stealth. Added Unbounded Leap Stealth IO to Sprint. Does the same thing. Not as annoying. Added Combat Jumping and the BotZ. Do what you want there.

Removed Electrfying Fences for Mu Lightning. Consider the Soul Mastery Patron Pool though. Gloom is as good a Single Target Power youre going to get...

Made some other changes. Much closer to all three Def Caps...

And Active Defense, you want to change that to a recharge and not a end reduction IO

I am planning on doing farming with this character as well, and I know the main Villain farm, Nemesis, just busts through defense anyways.

First off, everything is a farm nowdays...but if youre goal is the Nemisis farm your priorities should be Recharge Recharge Recharge +HP/Regen in some order. Recharge would help Footstomp and Rage as well as energize....and killing things is the best mitigation

If you have other plans consider getting about 30% or so S/L defense. That would make anything not named Nemisis ridiculously easy.

But really why not just find a nice Rikti map and play to /Elec's strengths...anyhow, good luck and all that

Youre saying game economy differs from the real world doesnt detract from the point that supply and demand are still the major forces moving this market. The lack of any real expense means 100% of the players income is placed on the "discretionary" side of the ledger makes those supply and demand swings a lot wider than the real world but its the same basic forces. I will agree that theres differing factors at work between the real world and game world but its the same principle and once thats understood it becomes kind of easy to use the market. Its a tool, not an enigma.

No, instead there are more like 10 sellers with 100 alchemical golds each that control that market and buy up any of the 'under priced' supply with the dozens of standing orders they have placed.

The problem is that any single player has access to way too many bid slots. Stacks of 10 are too many. I'd start there, cutting that number in half, to begin to curb the inflation.
Your example is horrible. Theres X number of supply being sold at 10K and 0 bids and you think these evil flippers are driving up the price? You do realize its stupidity and sheep-like behavior thats driving up the price. Theres 0 bids. Bid 100 and wait a sec, Ill bet you get one. The constant influx of supply will put these people out of buisness. You can pay what they want or bid something more reasonable. And I have to tell you, red side you can do that with just about every piece of salvage. Occassionally all the lower hanging fruit of a given item will get bought by this player called Demand and then the over priced ones that another player (We'll call him Supply) put up to gouge people will get bought and youll end up with some horrendous 300k selling of Demonic Blood Sample....but thats to be expected.

    Uggh dude, just uggh.

  10. oohh...

So I was in a relatively static SG of 5 people. We made some new toons to go from 1-50 with...I decide to make the teen age angsty guilt ridden DM/DA scrapper named Kid Vengence. Right about level 14 one of the others points out I mispelled Vengeance. Im not a stickler for spelling so I couldnt let that stand. I rerolled and put in a marathon session solo to catch up.

I joined the team for the first time and theres a number of snickers on vent. "Wha?".....someone replies..."You killed my parents, so I baked you a pie". Laughter ensues....Then I notice in my haste to get rerolled I had spelled Vengeance correctly, but missed on Kid. I had named my new Dark scrapper "Kind Vengeance"

People may follow or not at their own discretion. What does annoy is when we have a strategy thats working well, then all of a sudden 7 other people take a left turn behind me and I hit the next mob solo. I usually figure it out pretty quick but yeah...thanks for the warning.

Fair enough...but I would ask, why is this arbitrary equally skilled players such a stickler for you? Unfortunately, you stand a good chance of now being labeled a build nazi as I was.

This is because people think it's ridiculous for you to expect players to come to the table with a build intended for teaming, and a team focused approach to playing when they want to join a team.

On a side note, I'd be much happier if veteran players would send you a tell that their build has skipped X, knowing it's an important skill - I'd even be more apt to invite them since they were upfront with me.

I find that in the majority of the cases, it simply doesn't happen.

Not letting the team know beforehand is deceptive, and selfish.

Basically from my perspective, they want on a team to reap the rewards of teaming (faster XP, merits, etc.) but were unwilling to build for it, as well as unwilling to be upfront about the build decisions they made skipping powers widely considered essential. (Obviously if this is a new player, this isn't the case, I'm much more lenient with new players.)

While I respect the opinion, it always is hard for me to enforce.

    1. At what level do I expect people to have these "team" oriented powers? To be honest TT: Manuevers doesnt help me level solo at 6 or 8 or 10 as much as another attack or movement power might. Defense is largely ineffectual until you get DOs at the very least, and if someone made the case for SOs I wouldnt argue

    2. Whats the difference between a well-played aggressive anticipatory build with poor teaming choices and a poorly played team oriented build in terms of xp? Id rather have the former before the latter.

    3. If we as a team are having success, how much is in spite this solo-oriented build and how much is because of?

    4. How do I know the next guy will be better?

If I can answer those questions I may be okay with kicking someone who builds a certain way. Im pretty sure I cant answer those questions effectively.

At the end of the day if the guys an ****** Ill kick him, if he's not then he stays.

Not agreeing or disagreeing....theres a few odd attacks that do more than 4 pts of KB.
