  1. I just can't delete a 50 - too many good memories are attached to each one. I have 8 - 4 each on 2 servers - so plenty of time and servers to fill up first.

My first - a Sword/Regen Scrapper - reached 50 soon after the level expansion in 2004. He still has all of his pre-ED enhancement slotting. I still take him out to play once a month and to pay the SG rent and maybe "arrest" a few PI baddies. I tried doing Tips with him but he is just not very fun to play with the ED nerfs in effect. Fond memories with this character.

I am very grateful for all the server space so that I probably will never have to make a delete decision on any of my 50's.

  3. Meager crumbs. They've shown nothing but contempt for soloists wanting incarnate content that I expect nothing to substantially change. Instead of 10 years to achieve tier 4 stuff maybe they'll reduce time needed to 5 years.

They will need to give us a whole lot of fabulous solo incarnate content to ever gain my trust again. Overlaying the Tip system with iRewards would a step in right direction but not nearly enough. I want to see an Incarnate zone populated by an incarnate society that has substantial content for everyone.
  4. RMT scum drove me away from one MMO. They won't do it here. Therefore, I removed all talkie channels from chat and never post. Only do 1 to 1 Tells. Sorry guys for missing your unforgettable chatter but only way to forever be blissfully unaware of RMT existence.

This thread: am I the ONLY person happy to see something brand-new in the game yesterday? I mean -- a four-legged rig! $6.25 for a dog companion, but more importantly, now that the rig is in the game -- think of all the things that can be done with the new rig!

Charity is all the "free riders" I support each month with my 7-year subscription. Business is hoping some of them (in addition to you and me) eventually buy something to support the game as well!
I'm not bitter and have no problem with others buying the dog. I play with the GS on Beta which is more than enough to satisfy my curiosity about it (and other stuff) without spending an extra dime of my limited retirement income.

On live, I buy only those things I've already tested and for sure know I want for character concept development and improvement. No PP's are wasted on things I may grow tired of too soon or regret buying. That thinking has lead to a steadily growing surplus from the monthly stipends.
  6. Thanks for all the responses. Good stuff!

Guess I'll just let the Spiny fight within her limitations and not waste resources trying to make her into something she wasn't meant to be.

A boost from the time and player proven Spiritual tree seems the better course of action for now.

Given that, the answer is that it won't give a huge bonus at that level but if you build up the tree then it will. The tier 2 Alpha slot abilities provide a 33% boost of which one-third ignores ED. Now as a regen scrapper I would assume you're already ED capped for heal in most of your powers. Given that the total increase in your healing enhancement will be about 14.3%. Taking Reconstruction as an example, this will increase the number of hit points regained by about 48.

Now if you build further up the tree to the Vigor Core Paragon level then it will grant 45% of which two-thirds ignores ED resulting in an enhancement increase of about 32.25% and a bonus to Reconstruction of about 108 hit points.

That being said unless you are feeling a strong need for the accuracy and/or endurance granted by Vigor you might want to consider a Spiritual Alpha instead since that will increase the healing granted by your powers but also decrease their recharge time so that you can use them more often.
    Good feedback. Thank you.

Edited to add: boost is for a 2005 pre-ED Spines/Regen Scrapper that was recently reworked and outfitted with IO's and sets and is at the soft cap for all the regen powers.

More info: Although Regen is very good for longish fights, it is lacking for good defense when absorbing alpha blows and mass assault. I'm looking for a way to improve the defense from the initial blows of bosses and EB's.
  8. Can anyone confirm if Vigor Core Boost will significantly improve all the healing powers of the Regen secondary set for Scrappers?

Description: "For all powers: Increase Healing and Accuracy by 33%"

Yes, quite happy to have it back and available in the costume creator for all my new and old characters.

But I still have the old stuff, and once in a while the devs add in something I like.
I am so in agreement with all you say.

Funny, isn't it? When the Incarnate system first came out, I was hopeful. But it's evolution since then has totally weaned me from even giving it a second thought.

    It is a disappointing trend.
  11. I prefer a slower leveling curve. On all my characters now,in order to maintain a steady but not fast rate, leveling from 35-50 is done exclusively using the SSA's, Tips/Alignment system and RWZ Borea missions. And each character is limited to play time of no more than 2 hours per day.

Often, I am quite sad when a character does reach 50 because, other than opening the Alpha slot, it means the end of my run with that character. So, I go to another server and create a dupe and start the whole process over again. On average it takes each of my characters about 6 months or longer to go from 1-50.

The Incarnate system simply does not provide enough incentive to level faster or take characters deeper into the system beyond Alpha level.

In order for the game to stay interesting, I try to have multiple chars at various stages of development. At any one time, there will be 2-6 below level 10; 2-6 @ 10-20; 4+ @ 20-30; 3 @ 30-40 and 2 @ 40-49. 75% of all my chars get played on at least a monthly basis.

I do have a couple of favorite level 50 chars I play weekly (including one who reached 50 in 2005) but I do not identify with any one character enough to call any my "main". I simply like a lot of concepts and have fun experiencing their variety.

As is quite evident, the process of leveling is far more important and enjoyable to me than the end point itself.

Yes, things can be easier in a team, but requiring teaming is the antithesis of any game company that wants to make money. Some of us don't like teaming. Some of us only want to play when our friends are on. Some of work weird schedules and are only on when no one else is.

I work with the public 40+ hours a week, on the weekends. I get off work at 7am EST/EDT. After dealing with those people all night, the last thing I want to do is deal with more people, especially in something I'm paying for that I want to enjoy.

I respect and enjoy reading your opinions, Celestial Lord, but this comment is way off base in thinking MMO= team. MMORPG just means, there's a bunch of people online. I it does not mean "Team or lose!"

Solo comics sell as good, if not better than group comics. Why? Because solo heroes have just as much fun, if not more, than groups.

That's why Spiderman can team up with The Avengers for a few issues, yet still go back to being Spidey. Because teaming does not always mean fun.
Thank-you for restating this for the benefit of those who are still unsure of the concept.
  13. Devs try this:
    A. Open your database of NPC's
    B. Do search for "Security Chief"
    C. Press Ctrl+A then
    D. Delete

Next, open your database for Missions
Perform steps B, C and D as listed above.

Seriously those annoying Security Chief missions are totally out dated for today's players.
Back in the days when teams of 8 patrolled all the neighborhoods and zones for hours at a time, it was okay to tell a level 8 to go to Perez Park and defeat 10 CoT or a level 12 to go to Boomtown and defeat 20 Clockwork because he would more than likely have a team ready to do those sorts of missions. But almost noone plays that way anymore. Now, those missions are usually dropped or auto-completed because, seriously, who wants to get a team together to do them? We simply don't fight that way anymore.

I know, I know, those missions were originally setup to teach people about the hazard zones, etc, but isn't the teaching stuff supposed to be in the capable hands of Twinshot and perhaps others like her? If not, it should be.

Plus, it is so very annoying at level 12 to have a list of 6 good contacts ALL only offering the "Talk to the Boomtown Security Chief" mission. Grrrrrrr.

I certainly hope dropping these missions is one of the improvements we can look forward to sometime in the not to far future. I, for sure, will not miss them when they are gone.
  14. Maelstrom always stands close to the Vampire Commander - and there is only one of those in the mission. Should not be hard to find after VC is dead.

The Knives of Artemis mission is by far my least favorite. It is just a badly conceived mission with the KoA slowing down everything to a crawl and having to lead an invisible target back through 3 floors of ambushes. This one I always skip or auto-complete.

My non-Master Mind characters also skip the Malta "Save Panther 952" mission. Too many darned irritating Sappers for the Scrappers and Brutes to deal with.

  16. Wow. Folks sure can get into a hissy over virtual goods, can't they? To me it's just a game and I can wait as long as it takes to accrue the allotment of default PP points I need for whatever. There is no life or death issue associated with any of this stuff. So much ado about "I want pretend stuff nao". Patience, grasshopper, patience.
  17. My generation - post war baby boomers - has lost one its titans. RIP Mr. Jobs.
  18. I like it and agree with the style comment above. It does look cool on either male or female characters. I'm currently playing it on Beta server only because I don't want to shell out RT$ for a power set that isn't going away anytime soon and I can wait until the free PP are there.
    Highly recommended.

  20. Created a couple of new characters and Exalted seems like a fine server. Of course, I play alone with Help, Broadcast and Local removed from active Chat. If there is any fuss going on, I am totally unaware and immune to it.

Interesting - maybe not so rare at all. It doesn't interfere with play or anything - just an extra little bonus Tip to do.
  22. Yes, I took an iPhone photo of that portion of the screen.

I was playing solo - alone - not sharing anyone else's Tips. I completed all 6 tip missions then did the morality mish within a 1.5 hour time frame.

This was a totally freakish occurrence - no explanation other than an obviously rare server glitch. Just thought you all would like to know about it.
  23. I'm not complaining about this very odd occurrence.. I really did get 6 Tip Alignment missions + a Morality mission in one session.

Was able to complete the 6th mission but received no "credit" for it. Even more odd, the 6th mission was a dupe of one I'd completed earlier in the session.

  24. My goal with any new character is to have a highly survivable build @ Lvl 20 so that they can begin to solo any and all of the Tip and Alignment missions as soon as they are eligible. With this concept applied, my characters generally have few problems exempting downwards for any other type of mission. As a result, I found the Signature missions to be not much more of a challenge than normal 20ish Tip missions w/Bosses.

Optimizing only for lvl 50 play just seems so short-sighted and limiting with all the cool lower level stuff to do.
  25. I fight from outside the borders of the spawn areas with a "safe" area to my rear that I can pick and pull into. I try to stand equally between two spawn points that I can switch between. When one is done, the other is ready.
