  1. If all itrials were like the Respec Trials ("one and done") I might try them. But the way they are set up now for doing over and over dozens of times to get the rewards, NO THANK-YOU.
Go through them once to get the ultimate rewards and then be done with them - that's my idea of how epic content should be constructed.
  2. I've found that a simple "No thx" to all invites gets no arguments or at best a simple "k" in return.

And, yes, it is selfish in that I am spending my free time the way the way I want to without impinging on anyone else's privilege to do the same.
  3. I love a variety of AT's and switch playing several times a day. The only commonality would be they must do decent enough damage to make it solo all the way. On any given day I might pull out a Brute, Mastermind or Dominator. The next day it may be a Scrapper. Controller or Corrupter. It all depends on my mood and which one hasn't played in the past few days.

    As for 50's, I have:
    1 DM/WP Brute (Incarnate)
    1 DM/Regen Scrapper
    1 Sword/Regen Scrap
    1 Spines/Regen Scrap
    1 Thugs/Stormy MM (Incarnate)
    1 Ninja/Stormy MM
    1 Merc/FF MM
    1 Bots/Traps MM

In the 40's coming up thru the system are:
1 DM/WP Brute (different character concept)
    1 Bots/Stormy MM

    In the 30's are:
    1 Fire/Elec Brute
    1 Spines/WP Scrapper
    1 Mind/Psi Dominator
    1 Mind/Energy Dominator

A ton of variety for sure and all quite capable solo builds.

  4. I hated it when ED happened and did quit until August 2010.
Now, I love IO's and IO sets but not so much the ATIOs, Purples and PvPs.

The Alignment and Tips missions dramatically changed how I play as completing them are the central focus of every character. With about 200 banked A-Merits, I enjoy the feeling of being able to get whatever I want from the system.

Another play changer is totally avoiding the Incarnate trials and finding alternate ways to solo play my characters into gaining (stealing) some of the Incarnate powers. I really really really really loathe gimmickry tarnished content.

Over the past month, I've come to a new appreciation for the Mission Architect and all the creative possibilities there. Not the Fire Farm crap, but the real content that is often very imaginative and better written than the official stuff. All my new characters go straight to AE at level 1 and have more fun and are better rewarded with solo play than anywhere else in those first 10 or so levels.
  5. Up until a month ago, I had 4 under-appreciated characters but I found a use for them as AE mules collecting tickets on really simple non-exploitable missions.

It was fun to bring them to life again and re-discover what motivated me to create them in the first place. Now, once a week or so, I run each one through the AE missions; have a bit of relaxing fun and bank 300-500 tickets per session.

Forewarning: don't try this arc with a squishie unless you are willing to take multiple trips to the infirmary. That's all I'm going to say about it.
  7. I bet they regret not producing a single user version. With blockbuster sales of certain sp fantasy & war RPGs this month taking in $bn & CoH trying to squeeze a few more cents from their user base.
  8. Down with your suggestions!

I am an old timer who has characters that I love to street sweep the hazard zones. Few things in the game are more fun for me than a rough and tumble hour in Crey's Folly carving up all the mobs with there with a Brute or Scrapper that can handle it.

And the BEST part - aside from the stray solo doing a door mission, no other players are there kill stealing and spoiling the fun.

Y'all have plenty of other zones and trials and task forces to do your teaming crap so just leave my hazard zones alone! I am glad you don't like the zones and happy you stay away from them. May it forever be so.
  9. And what's with this new bug with floating Inspiration Trays being moved to center screen with every zoning? Can't you guys leave the UI alone and stop mucking it up with every new release?
  10. I play CoH because:
    1. it's a great place to hook up with women
    2. none of my friends or family play here
    3. no one gives a bleeping bleep that I play alone
    4. upon logging in, I just love reading red letter notices about the old drivers on my 2 yr old Netbook
    5. the continuing comedy of the Incarnate system provides more and more unintentional laughs with every "expansion"
    6. I hope one day to see Golden Girl post an honest opinion instead of saying only what she thinks the devs want to hear
    7. nowhere else in the MMO genres do I get so many opportunities to say "No Thx" to teaming
    8. it's one of the few places on the Internet where I can pretend to be a dumb, rude, a*****e and pull it off (it's all an act, folks)

    Other reasons I play:
    1. it runs on my Netbook
    2. it is the most enjoyable thing for this retired grandfather to do between visits with his grandchildren
    3. I can FLY/travel anywhere in the open world with no forced pathing
    4. the character development process is fun and a good outlet for creative urges
    5. I can take my time playing and not feel rushed to do anything in the game
    6. it's Okay to take 6 months or longer to develop a character to their full potential; it's Okay to NOT power level a new character to 50 in less than a day
    7. to experience the joy of living the games brings me each day
    8. I like the toy chest/sandbox feelings of being able to create your own style of play; only do the things you want to do and pretend to be who you wish you could be if you lived the life of a comic book character
    9. to witness and experience the few new good things the dev staff is doing these days (there are some gems amidst all the muck)
    10. it's the one game I always wanted to play when I was away playing others. It just gives that feeling of being something special in the gaming world and I like being part of that.
  11. Not one bleeping thing in this release that I can use or applies to any of my characters.
  12. Ran both sides with 50 Rogue DM/WP Brute.
Chose Incarnate threads from both reward tables. Running only the SSA's for Incarnate drops, this character has opened and slotted first level of both Judgement and Interface (Alpha was opened with Ramiel arc and slotted with shard drops from TIP missions).

I thought this was easily the best written of the SSA's. Both sides are remarkably similar in their wit and humor. It was actually fun, for a change, to read all the dialogue.

The Villain side can take a bit longer to complete due to a long run through a sewer filled with Hydra and an extra EB, neither of which are in the hero version.

I agree with another poster that one particular Hero ambush does hit kind of hard and without time to properly prepare.

It will be fun to repeat these on a weekly basis to continue expanding the
Incarnate stuff on this Brute. In my iPod Touch reminders, I post the dates and times the SSA's are done so that I will know when to do them again. Method has worked fine for me since SSA's debuted.

This. I toyed with a concept using TT on Beta and will not be getting on live.
  14. Best Lowbie Arc:
    1. 468738 The Blue Devils
    2. 470181 Tutorial Arc 3
  15. I'd be happy to help you with that. I keep my iPod Touch 4G next to the computer while gaming for quick and easy reference to the Paragon Wiki; Twitter and other resources.

Currently, I have the server page bookmarked in iOS Safari. It is a quick and easy to see status - hope your app can improve on that.
  16. Like the OP, I am annoyed by the new opening arcs that I skip them entirely. Now, it's:
    street sweep to 5 (less than an hour);
    go to KR and do the 3 Radio Mish and a Safeguard (now almost level 7);
and then either do (a) contact mishes or (b) continue doing Radio/Safeguiard mishes until 10.
After that, contacts in Steel or Skyway open up quite frequently.

I did the new stuff a few times (including Twinshot @ 10 and 15) and now cannot stand the thought of ever doing those arcs again. They are not well written and fail miserably in their objective of being an all inclusive introduction to the game. Most of what new players learn, they will learn from other players and not those boring arcs.
  17. LOL LOL LOL on the new stuff. Wish I could provide more constructive feedback but everyone else seems to have summed it up better than I can.

Might buy a piece or two but whole set....nope.
  18. Mind Control for my Doms.
Willpower secondary for Scrappers and Brutes.
Any combo/class of Electric and Fire for melting Arachnos
Stormy or Traps secondary on my MM's

I like lots of others but those are my faves.

Yeah, I did a search for terms "wisp" and "aura" but did not get results for patch notes confirming.

IIRC it happened on one of those odd mid-week day patches about 2 weeks or so ago. Like I said, it is working on my toons now and is available for choosing from my auras.

I see this as one more step to becoming City Of Purchases, let us mourn the death of City of Heroes.

I feel same way about spending $$$ on electrons. I've got billions of inf in-game & will use them to get enhancements the usual way.

I have absolutely no problem saying NO to RMT transactions.
  21. It's working just fine on my 3 chars that use it including one created this past week.
  22. Probably for the reasons stated above, but FW just annoyed the dickens out of me. I took a dm/wp brute through there at launch and not had any desire to go back with any other character.

We've already got 4 that are live, 2 more in beta, 1 more coming with the next Issue, strong hints of an 8th one for fighting Tyrant, and then there's ther whole Coming Storm to deal with - the endgame system has no end, so there's no end to the Trials.

They will be - but because they're easier to do than the Trials, they'll give slower progress than the the Trials.
The Trials take longer to start, need more organization, and have harder enemies than solo content - so they give the best rewards.
To the contrary, little one, there will be an end to the trials - an end to their being an ill conceived impediment to whatever progress the solo players seek. My guess is that solo able iContent will have no end either - it is not a 1 time quik fix to a glaring omission of content for vital segment of this community.

Get over it, GG, and admit the trials are not very good; are not the ultimate creative effort of the dev staff & are definitely not for everyone.

So true, which is why I find things using the one feature they haven't effed up - the search field. Finding things any other way is just too ponderous to be practical.

I said that's what I wanted - now let's hope they do right with the implementation. DA is a fine zone for the conversion.
