  1. Okay, some food for thought:

Ember Legacy of Flame is for killing 200 Legacy Chain minions, we know that.

Lucent Legacy of Light is for killing Legacy Chain LTs, since someone in my SG got it after killing one. I haven't pegged down the exact number yet.

Kaolin Legacy of Earth... this one is tougher to figure out. In beta, it was one of the first gladiators I noticed receiving as it came along with getting 25 badges. I used it throughout the beta testing in gladiator matches, too. When the game went live, it seemed to have changed to being awarded with the Member of the Scorpion Clan SF badge (Which a bugged Silver Mantis was giving out), which is even more odd since you'd assume that SF would be above Legacy Chain's level range. I have contacted Recluse about this gladiator already. Not sure if he'll respond since I totally jumped the gun with by posting that last PM from him, though. X_X (yes, this situation warrants a Japanese emoticon)

My main is a Fire/Fire/Energy Tank She was going to be F/F/F but I didn't like the Fire ancillary pool as much as I had hoped I would.

And there's also Cuppa's PB alt CuppaTea that completely kicked my behind in an intern battle royale on test... until I rezed and killed her. Good times.
  3. Longbow Spec-Ops could be for a number of things.

It could come with Villain. It could come from killing 100-300 Longbow Chasers. 100-300 Spec Ops themselves. 100-300 Longbow Wardens. Etc. I don't think it's 100 elite bosses, though.
  4. I did get it two weeks go on a hero, though.
  5. Take this for what you will, but according to CuppaJo, there is NO Crab Spider Longfang gladiator in either game.

It might have been one they removed/reworked into another gladiator, likeTsoo Sorcerors.
  6. Doh!

Expect a Guide to Gladiators 2.0 when a future patch hits test that fixes Hordeling Lasher, Night Widow, Wolf Spider Enforcer, and Wailer Queen on the villain's side.
  7. If I may, Crim, add one more piece of advice:

Before you set up the healing umbrella and start the raid, please request that everyone reboot CoH in safe mode. With the graphical upgrades in issue 6, Hami Raids can and most likely will be even laggier than before. Safe mode helps reduce the lag somewhat while maintaining playability for those attacking or holding.
  8. Yeah, a few hero badges got through with my cutting and pasting. Unfortunately I can't edit the original post to correct this.
  9. Oops. Everytime I make a huge list of gladiators like this, I mess up on one or two badges.

Mob Specialist is currently NO available in City of Villains.

Cobra is from Snake Charmer, a Mercy exploration badge.

Weatherman/Outcast Slugger is available in CoV. It's just that you have to farm one specific mission 50-100 times to get it. It's the "Destroy Hero Statues" mission from Operative Wellman.
  10. I don't think Blood and Night Widows count towards Fortunata Seer. I think they might count towards Night Widow, though, when that patch makes it live.

Sorry I wasn't more clear, guys. I thought, based on the past posts in this thread about fixed gladiators, it would be assumed I meant fixed and will be coming in a future patch.
  11. According to CuppaJo, it should be availabe on the heroes' side. I could swear I killed a few Mu Guardians in Hotspot fights in Siren's and in missions when going for Fortunatas and Spider Smasher. I haven't actively looked for it in CoH since getting in CoV, though, because I moved on to trying to find what unlocks the "challenging" gladiators.

Wailer Queen is hard to say. When gladiator badges first arrived, we instantly got some of the kill 100 X badges that weren't tied to a kill badge, such as Crey Power Tank or Mob Specialist. On the other hand, I didn't get Swift Steel, Bladegrass, or Raider Engineer. It could go either way. If you are looking for a quick way to get it, you can farm an early Hardcase mission or just go to the west coast of Martial and PBAoE the water to have them rise up and attack. They spawn in the early 30s there.
  12. Wailer Queen is an educated guess since healing is the big thing that makes them Wailer Queens (All wailers have the same basic powers, Queens can heal, Kings can rez).

Mu Guardian is definitely not a guess, as I announced in the official gladiator list thread.

Calibans don't seem to be as strong as Freakshow Tanks. I know my Caliban was destroyed literally in seconds by a team of Tanks and Warhulks.

The best way to milk the system for healing badges would be two teams, each with one Freak Tank and one Arch-Mage. The Mages will keep healing the tanks, the tanks will keep fighting each other, and they will do enough damage without killing each other to make the heals worth it.

  15. Gotta Catch Em All - Friggin' Taser's Guide to Gladiators

With City of Villains and Issue 6 of City of Heroes, the arena opened it's doors for the first time to non-heroes and villains alike. Deemed Gladiators, the arena was outfitted with the finest in virtual reality technology to allow for the simulated fighting of the various enemies seen throughout the Rogue Isles and Paragon City. Heroes and villains alike use this new arena technology to unwind after a busy day. Criminals and members of the notorious Family use the gladiator battles as a crude cottage industry for gambling.

Using this guide, you will quickly learn the ins and outs of gladiator battles!

    Gladiator True or False:

"I can use the arena and gladiators to powerlevel my character."

False. In City of Villains beta, a bug was caught that rewarded players with the XP, infamy, prestige and salvage rewarded for their gladiators kills, though.

"There is no reward for gladiator matches."

False. There are at least 4 rewards for gladiator battles. For winning your first gladiator battle in the arena, you unlock the Lanista badge along with the Longbow Nullifier gladiator. The Longbow Nullifier is one of the stronger LT class gladiators in the game. There is also a second badge for gladiator badges, Grand Lanista, that hasn't been unlocked at this time. It is heavily rumored that Grand Lanista unlocks the Hercules Titan gladiator.

    "The gladiators are unbalanced."

True to a point. There are currently two gladiators that are so effective that they render gladiator battles boring. That would be the Longbow Warden 2 and Arch-Mage of Agony. I recommend those who host gladiator battles kindly ask that anyone participating in their matches please remove these two gladiators.

"I can use gladiator matches to unlock City of Villains-specific kill badges in City of Heroes."

Unconfirmed, though it appears to be false. When City of Villains first launched, it was rumored that fighting and killing 100 Cobra gladiators in the arena would unlock the Mongoose badge and the Cobra gladiator for heroes. No one has been able to actually confirm this, though.

"I can use gladiator matches to work on badges such as healing, damage taken, etc."

Unconfirmed, though it appears to be true. Logic would dictate that since gladiator matches are based on the same tech as mastermind pets, that the same rules apply. So any healing or damage your gladiators do is credited to you for badges. If you are looking for gladiators that heal, there are quite a few: Longbow Warden 2, Arch-Mage of Agony, Wailer Queen, Cobra. Cobra is the easiest to get on the villain side.
  16. What level were the enemies?

You might want to stick to sub-20 levels.
  17. I'm almost certain that you'll get some in Bloody Bay missions.

I've just never formed a team to hunt them exclusively on the hero side yet.

In the higher levels you have more bosses to deal with (Fortunata Mistresses, Night Widows, Toxic Tarantulas, Webmasters) which will make it harder for you to spawn more Mu Guardians.
  18. The ones I fought in Diable were level 18-20, so maybe Bloody Bay missions?
  19. For those interested, here's a list of my current CoV gladiator collection and their prices:

    Mook - 100
    Mu Guardian - 300

    Cog - 150
    Crane Enforcer - 200
    Caliban - 250
    Button Man Gunner - 250
    Juicer Chief - 300
    Anathema - 250
    Bladegrass - 300

    Nebula Elite Buckshot - 150
    Swift Steel - 300
    Crey Power Tank - 500
    Omega Wolf - 500
  20. Heroes side is going to be rough.

You're going to have to farm a LOT of PvP zone missions.
  21. I just got the Mu Guardian gladiator!

It's for killing 100 Mu Guardians.

Best way to get this one is an 8 man team in Diable, half in Aeon City and the other half in PTS.
  22. Just got word from Lord Recluse about CoV Gladiators:

The following gladiators were bugged and are now fixed:
    Hordeling Lasher -- bugged, fixed
    Night Widow -- bugged, fixed
    Wailer Queen -- bugged, fixed
    Wolf Spider -- bugged, fixed

The following Gladiators are tied to level 40-50 content and cannot be unlocked at this time:
    Arachnoid
    Tarantula

The following Gladiators have very challenging or particular requirements:
    Mu Guardian
    Crab Spider Longfang
    Koalin Legacy of Earth
    Lucent Legacy of Light
    Longbow Warden 1
    Longbow Spec-Ops
    Wolf Spider Tac-Ops

Currently I've gotten about 60 Mu Guardians killed. I'll report back when I hit 100.
  23. I sent Lord Recluse a PM today to make sure we're not hitting the same problem we had with CoH Gladiators with CoV Gladiators.

I'll keep you guys updated when I learn more.
  24. Destroyer of Worlds appears to be tied to victories in Recluse's Victory.
  25. There is no sky skiff gladiator.

I'm almost positive that the Mu badge only counts Mu Guardian bosses.

The Seer badge is definitely in the game. I have it, earned mostly by missions and killing Seers in Port Oakes will getting Gangbuster. Fort Hades and the Northwest dock area are good places to find them.
