Quote:I'll look into that; thanks. I kept the side panel off for better ventilation, but now there are two fans on the computer, and one on the game card, plus the side's open. I hope that helps to keep it cool.One of the common comments on Newegg about your card was that it got hot... you may want to snag a slot fan to increase airflow over the card. A slot fan is simply an exhaust fan that fits in an expansion slot... they're cheap and should help if you have airflow issues.
I went with a Radeon HD 4350 card from VisionTek. It's been working well. -
Quote:The hard drive isn't full at all. I originally bought the game on disk, so I used that to reinstall the game. I just want to kick my computer sometimes.....it's been giving me a hell of a time recently.I have had a similar problem. What fixed it for me was to uninstall the game from my small C drive and move it to my bottomless hard drive. I know you tried to uninstall and reinstall already. Is the hard drive that your game is on nearly full? Because my C drive was very nearly full. So, I cleared a bunch of stuff off of it and uninstalled the game. Fortunately for me my .pigg file problems happened just a few weeks before Going Rogue came out in the stores. So, I bought the GR game disk and used that to reinstall the game, but this time on to my Terabyte HD. I haven't had any problems since. I am sorry for your trouble and hope this helps. If not, please don't be discouraged. Better techs than me, will answer your problems tomorrow. Good luck

Ok. I've uninstalled and reinstalled CoH after running a disk check and all that and the same error comes up and sometimes crashes the game. What now?
-
I tried it out on CoH earlier. It seemed to run it smoother than my old GPU did. Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone.
-
Great. I already bought one. I'll install it and see how it goes. I'll be keeping the receipt.

Reading the posted articles makes me want to avoid NVIDIA if at all possible. I guess I'll be going after a Radeon.
I found this one for not too much: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150390
Will it run CoX pretty well? -
Quote:I might go scrapper so I don't have to worry about getting the Fury bar up to whup butt....I dunno. I started out on CoV and I automatically think "What would it be like on a brute?" when they come out with new melee sets.I haven't tried the Brute version of KM (I just don't like the AT's play-style), but I do have a Stalker, a Tank and a Scrapper. All three are WP secondary... Of them, I think the Stalker has it best.
Siphon is interesting from a mechanical standpoint, but I really prefer the plain old BU Stalkers get, and the attack they lose to shoe-horn Placate into the set isn't much of a loss. -
I have a couple of blappers because they are fun. With my fire/energy and elec/elec blasters, I hit the mobs with the ranged AoE attacks and then focus in on the bosses with my melee attacks. As a blaster, I just view my job to kill everything, and blapping is just a more efficient way of doing that with many primary and secondary attacks. Instead of primary attacks and then defensive or support secondaries. Blappers are all damage, baby!

Thanks a lot for all the info, and your responses. I'll do some more research.

Mainly I'm trying to find a card that will run on 250 - 300 watts. Yeah, I'm trying to be a bit cheap, but I'm willing to go to $ 100 or so to get my comp running well again, but I'm limited by that power supply for the new card.
And the reason I was shopping Bestbuy.com was so I could just go to the store and pick one up and not have to wait on the new card to be shipped to me. -
Thanks, everyone. I'm going to do some shopping.
Edit: I chose the linked one, based on price and my 300 watt power limit.

Will it do the job? What should I look for specifically when looking at what will run CoX? -
Yeah. The tech support guy said 250 or 300 watts. So, I'm going to have to increase the power supply as well?
-
Sorry. I have a PCI Express x16 port with 300 watts. Thanks for the responses.
Also, I usually play CoX at the minimum graphics settings, and I like it that way. It looks more comic book like. So Ultra mode isn't a big deal for me. -
My NVIDIA Geforce 6150 LE GPU burned up and I'm having to use the computer with it disabled just to be able to use it without the resolution and color being on the lowest setting, but I can't play CoX. HP technical support says that my comp has another slot for a video card, and that installing another one will fix things where I can play CoH and other stuff. My computer is 5 years old and I don't want to spend too much money on it, when that money could go towards a new computer at some point. I just want to know if there are any good, cheap video cards that run CoX well, so I can make getting back to playing cost effective. Thanks.

I went Stalker, with Willpower as the secondary. I'm enjoying it so far. I'm planning on trying the other version with a brute, as the stalker set is a bit different. I think I'm going super reflexes for the secondary on the brute. Conceptually it fits the best for me.

I'm playing an Archery/Trick Arrow Corruptor, and it's been fun since the start. I'm at lvl 37 now and each new power just adds to the fun. I've been waiting for that combo on a corr for years though since I was frustrated with a lack of killing ability with TA/Archery Defenders. Anyway, I'd give it a try if you just want a fun corruptor.
-
Sorry. I should have been more specific. Dark is my secondary.
Got them all.
I currently have several partial sets that grant defense bonuses and other things. I even had the purple set slotted and wasn't happy with the damage output. I replaced the sets with regular IOs to up the damage percentage, but I'm still not happy.
I've tried slotting a damage proc in the past, but saw that it only hit when I summoned the pets, and not during their attacks. Was that just a bug that's since been fixed?
Anyway, the advice about the procs was what I was looking for. And any other advice would be helpful.
Thanks everyone.
Quote:A note regarding damage procs in pets: they don't. I put Explosive Strike: Chance for Smashing Damage on my Genin and Touch of the Nictus: Chance for Negative Energy Damage on Dark servant. Neither has ever proc'd. The latter works fine on my Twilight Grasp, but never on the Servant's. Pretty sure this is WAI. Though I don't think I personally would consider it OP, the powers that be apparently do feel that way.
I'll 3rd a desire to know the secondary in play, and would also like to know what PPP/APP you plan on adding, if any. -
Please tell me what would be kick-butt enhancements that would make my Ninja do tons of damage. I have all three of the pet powers 6 slotted, so please help me out. I've done all IO sets, I've tried Frankenslotting, and still I'm not satisfied, but I don't really know what I'm doing with all the IO slotting. Please help with some suggestions of what sets or IOs would make the Ninjas be lawnmowers on maps. Thanks.

Quote:I hate the gun drone. A placeable, automated, chain-gun turret would be awesome. I'm thinking with a damage like Automatic Fire from the AR set. I guess that really isn't an alternate animation though; more like an alternate power.I want to say Blaster's Devices Gun Drone . But then on further thinking, you can still attack while the gun drone is summoned and that a holdable chain-gun would not work.
But on a second though, why not have the character place a mounted gun instead of a floating one? Its just an idea I'd like to mention..
Let's make it 18, but I'm going to suggest that the wrist crossbow that the Joinin use from the Ninja Mastermind set use be made available. -
I'd love to see a Shield Melee set, but in stead of that, howabout alternate animations for the melee sets that are paired with Shield Defense where the shield is used to deliver the attacks. I'm mainly thinking about Super Strength here, but it could be used for many of the attacks for many of the sets. Hurl = throwing the shield would be awesome!
-
I would say "why not?" to it if they replaced Rage with Build Up. Is super strength much different conceptually than energy melee? I think not. I think Footstomp from Hide would be awesome as well.
-
I had a 50 thugs/poison mastermind and had a lot of diffuculty soloing AVs when I don't have much with my ninja/dark.
-
I named my ninjas after characters from the Big Lebowski.
Oni = The Dude
Jonin = Walter and Donnie
Genin = Mr. Lebowski, Jesus, and Brand.
My thugs are from Aqua Teen Hunger Force
Bruser = Meatwad
Enforcers = Frylock and Master Shake
first tier (I forget the name) = Carl, Dr. Weird, and Urr (change the other two names often, but Carl is a constant) -
I think that you and I have different opinions of what "grind" means. They certainly were a grind for me, and for many others. That's why so many people were so into powerleveling and farming, to try to get past those levels. For a long time I was sick of creating new characters because they were not fun at all. Having to sprint all over the place and not having any endurance....they were a grind. For a long time all people wanted to do was farm at lvl 50 so I didn't play my high level toons much, and the low level ones were a pain, so I wasn't playing much at all for over a year and if I wasn't so lazy I would have shut off my account. After Ninja Run was available, I finally started playing new toons again and the grind wasn't such a grind. Although, the not having any stamina was still a pain.
