Quote:Not at Level 8(Widow), not at Level 15(Defender). I agree more powers mean more options. I have all my options as slotted as I can. I don't have the Infamy/Influence to slot more. Hitting everything as it comes up. Not taking on more than one or two guys a time. Simple, basic, sensible. Hitting everything at the right times. I do not understand WHY I am dying, but I am. It's part of why I'm asking 'What am I doing wrong'?
Power picks:
Defender Build 1(Initial):
Cold Domination: Ice Shield, Glacial Shield, Infrigidate, Snow Storm
Radiation Blast: Irradiate, Neutrino Bolt, X-Ray Beam.
Speed: Flurry, Super Speed
Defender Build 2(Offence, after taking some licks):
Cold Domination: Ice Shield, Glacial Shield, Snow Storm.
Radiation Blast:Irradiate, X-Ray Beam, Neutrino Bolt, Electron Haze.
Leadership: Assault, Tactics
Most random packs here in Steel Canyon are twos and threes, sometimes four for Minions, one or two Lieutenants or Bosses. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong other than attacking in the first place. No difficulty mods. In the missions is hard too.
Maybe I'm missing something.
Have you tried lowering your mission difficulty? One of the alts I'm currently soloing is a level 15 Emp Controller (hard to get any squishier than that) and +1/+1 seems to work best for him. And that's focusing on offensive powers. I've used the second build for the team support power choices. -
Quote:And if the issue is that $2. bucks once a month is a financial obstacle they have trouble overcoming, then they have bigger problems to worry about than a video game.Given how many people frankenslot, I think this is a bad idea. I believe providing warnings about the lack of IO functionality when a preem logs in would be worthwhile, and pointing out second build options as well. However the gating which IOs are behind is a really short gate to be honest. Anyone unwilling to shell out $2/month is unlikely to have much interest in shelling out anything at all.
Oh and in regards to the hypothetical question "What if Mommy and Daddy won't pay for it?" That's called parenting. Mom and Dad have every right to tell their life sucking parasite that if he or she wants to spend money on a video game then he or she needs to get a job, get good grades, whatever conditions they want. They even have the right to say "No." without any explanation.
The EULA still requires players be 18 or have a parent/guardians permission to play the game under Section 9. ACCOUNT ACCESS AND PERMISSIBLE ASSIGNMENT. -
Read the responses in this thread. You've already been told exactly what you get, and you were given two links that also give you that information.

If it had been an accident he'd be clumsy not funny. Since it was deliberate he's just another [pancake]. -
Quote:It is not a flat argument, it's common sense and you know it.What if the person claiming it has never seen a Catalyst before? They won't know. That's a flat argument and you know it.
If you don't know what something is or how it works don't claim it until you've done some research first. (I.E. Asked your friends in the game or in Help, Check the forums, Look it up on the Wiki) -
Quote:But Lyc, There was a warning, and you quoted it in your first post. That's all I was asking for to begin with. There was nothing seperating it from the "this is given to this character alone (that can sell, trade, or do whatever with)" vs "this is given to this character alone (and that's it, no take-backs in any capacity!)" I think the destinction is worth some degree of recognition that doesn't currently exist in game.
Quote:You are claiming a Character Item. This item will be delivered to this character and this character only. Do you want this character to have this item
That's what I did with the ATO's I got from the Super Packs I bought. I assumed they were character bound until I confirmed otherwise. Then I only claimed 1 on a character that could use it and tested to see if it was character bound by placing it in base storage. When that worked I took it to the market and tried selling it. When that also worked I claimed all the others.
I do agree with Arcanavilles' idea.
Quote:At the very least, since the rewards use the email interface there's an entire email body that is mostly wasted except for the item count. They could put the entire text description of the item in there, or alternatively they could put a Real Numbers hyperlink for the item in there. -
So according to another of the OP's threads the OP has just bought and registered a copy of Going Rogue. Now all he has to do is join some global channels and he should find it easier to find teams.

Quote:No, we had to futz with the bubble helmet's weighting quite a bit to get it to work for standard heads without clipping so badly that the head was literally outside the bubble many times, getting this to work with the more unorthodox heads is simply not feasible.
So does that mean there's absolutely no chance you guys could look at the Halloween Brain in a Jar and give us an option that had the Fish Head inside instead of the Brain?
Cuz that would make for an awesome space alien. -
Quote:I have one of each type of account, and I can state from personal experience that I have encountered no problems playing any of my characters be they VIP, Prem, or Freem.Admittedly, I really haven't seen the game from a Premium POV
No one here has, it looks like. That's a problem in itself. There is no one with experience of the trip up without anything or very little. Hyperbole-It's much like 'rich vs poor' or 'haves vs have-nots'.
In fact I find it refreshing to be able to play the original basic game again since it's the game I first fell in love with.
Quote:Quote:The takeaway shouldn't be "Premiums are second-class,"
Quote:the game is miserable
You said it, not me,
Quote:Many are the posters who come back saying basically, "You have screwed us all over, the game is miserable, the devs are idiots, and you OWE us a better game, even though we aren't paying anything!"
Quote:though the words are harsh, they are also true as I've seen it. The experience has been a poor one.
Quote:The restrictions on premium do not lead me me to desire VIP. They lead to depresion and annoyance.
Quote:Whilst this can be effective tactic for purchase, it's...the game should be saying '"You rock, but VIP can make you rock MORE!" Currently, it's "You want no not suck? Go VIP!" as it crushes you into the dirt.
Quote:Can't explain it any other way, what with the deaths I've been taking on my weakers. You hit your buttons and still die against things your own level. Dunno why.
There is more to the game than mashing buttons. If that's how you play you have no one to blame but yourself. -
Exactly. And the people that they'd be pissing off the most are the long term vets. Those loyal customers that have supported the game for 5, 6, 7, and 8 years. You know the ones that spend money.

Quote:No they wouldn't. They thought no one would get upset over possibly losing their global names and they learned otherwise. They would never be so stupid as to force character name changes. People will cancel their subs over that.If they were to hypothetically merge servers, I don't count those as limitations blocking such a move. Chances are they would handle them just like they did with the EU global merge, as in "not". One set of parties (probably the smaller server that's getting merged into the larger one) would likely be forced to change names.
Similar for SG bases, they would probably be left on the floor rather than try to move them. The only real hurdle would be a database script to move over the prestige and SG roster, and I don't think that's a particularly high one.
Thus the technical problems become PR ones instead.
Furthermore you are ignoring the problem of what happens to characters that can't be transferred because there isn't enough slots for them on the destination server. We only have 48 slots and
And you if think players aren't going to quit if they're forced to give up the bases they've spent hundreds of hours designing and told to start over from scratch your not being realistic. -
Quote:Hey we aren't using Galaxy City, the original Faultline, or the Rikti Crash site anymore. Move those zones over to Praetoria. That'll give them 7 zones like redside started with. Explain it as a Nemesis Plot, or Rangle's fault.3) adding more Praetorian zones, all the way up to 50. Yes, I am aware that this would be colossal work which would take up an enormous amount of time and effort. So VIP/Point lock all but one basic story arc in each zone, so everyone with Praetorian access could still see these zones, but only those who are paying for it can fully enjoy ir, thus helping to justify the work put in with a payoff, while premiums would have their interest in these zones whetted by the basic arcs.

Quote:It's always nice to have a witness come forward when the reputation of a server is maligned. On the day of your post there was a league of at least 16 doing LAMDA/BAF/etc one after one. Later there was a Hami raid that drew a large crowd. Meanwhile a team of squishies took on Romulus in the 'Hot Desert' ... And those who shouted out "I need a villain to break my lover's box!" were met with 'OMW!!!"
Checking the channels, we were being schooled by BLA (who has wayyy to much info off the top of their head). Help channel is always answered quickly... eh, you get the point.
Protectorites are among us... -
Quote:Well you are wrong. If your post history is any indication of the type of account you have (You only post in the All Access sections so I'm guessing you are a Freem or Prem) the problems you are having stem fromLike no one plays on that server and especially the villain side theres no one there =(
1. The fact that you aren't a member of any global channels. and
2. Villain side has NEVER had a large population on any server (Most people that play a super hero game want to be Heroes. Go figure.), and once side switching was added the majority of the players that did have villain characters went hero side. -

Quote:No you don't need to stay a VIP once you've created a base. However there is a catch. Only a VIP can pay base rent. So that leaves you with 2 options if you want to drop back to Premium.Ah ok that explains that ...
so i can become a VIP and create one ... but then i don't need to stay a VIP??
1. Invite a VIP to your SG so they can pay rent. (there are SG permissions and you can allow him the ability to pay rent at whatever officer rank you like)
2. You can choose not to permanently use items that generate rent.
Here's the list of base items that generate rent.
Storage Items
100 prestige (per bin)
Auto-Doc / Tree of Wonders
100 prestige
Combat Logs / Contemplation Charts
100 prestige
Robo-Surgery / Spirit Signal
100 prestige
Advanced Worktable / Advanced Forge
100 prestige
Expert Worktable / Expert Forge
100 prestige
Robotic Fabricator / Flames of Hephaestus
100 prestige
Radiation Emulator / Enchanting Crucible
100 prestige
Linear Accelerator / Arcane Crucible
200 prestige
Supercollider / Mystic Crucible
300 prestige
Now here's a little secret. You will learn that some base items like Teleport pads require the use of worktables to create them. Worktables generate rent.
However . . . You don't need to keep worktables after you are done creating things for the base. You can sell the worktable back for the same amount of prestige you paid for it. It works like this.
1. Buy worktable
2. Craft what you need
3. Sell the worktable
4. You don't get charged rent for the worktable
Now if you wanted to make a base for the extra storage then you have a problem. You have to either be a VIP, or invite a VIP to the SG who can pay rent.
Why? Well the reason is that the devs maintain that SG's (and subsequently bases) are intended to be multiple player content. And as such SG base storage is not intended to be used as extra personal storage. So if a person wants to create a solo SG/base and use all it's features he has to be a VIP.
None of the players like this, but the devs have refused to compromise so far.
Something else to consider when deciding if you want to temporarily upgrade to VIP in order to create an SG. You will unlock a lot of other features permanently thru the Paragon Rewards you'll get. You won't lose access to them if you drop back to Premium.
- Access to Tell, Supergroup, and Coalition channels

Quote:Thanks for responding and clearing up the confusion I was having about your post. To be honest I thought there might be a remote possibility you were making a judgement based on the difference between both your and toasts forum reg dates. It doesn't happen often but it does pop up occasionally. Very glad to hear that wasn't the case. You're making a lot of assumptions. I didn't give a lot of detail as I didn't think it would matter. I didn't mean to imply any sort of constant subscription, only that I played the game from as early as I could because I was excited and wanted to support a superhero game. From there, I was with the game for over a year, then came and went periodically as I felt the desire.
When Freedom went live, I had a nearly full T6 (game time, paid xpacs...). I started spending on points (some $15 lumps, some $5, buying costumes, character slots, powersets...), but haven't subbed and now T7 is one slot from full. I've spent a lot more than $45 since the game launched Freedom. That $45 is just the last 30-day cycle. It's more than normal and I've spent - on average - a bit more per month than I did when I was subbed, but I'm happy playing this way.
What I was objecting to was the idea that Preemies are all whining freeloaders. Maybe some of us are, but I'm seeing the attitude on the forums often enough that I just finally snapped. It's frequent enough that it makes me want to just walk some days. To be fair, he probably didn't mean to paint so broadly and I likely overreacted. Luckily, I like the game and people in it enough that I can get past the negativity of the forums most days, and I rarely do anything too rash (like my previous post).
Also, if anyone inferred from my post that I think I contribute more than a VIP, that was not my intent. I only meant to point out that some of us contribute on a comparable scale, or at least a not-inconsequential one, and would like to be considered relevant members of the community.
I can understand why you can get frustrated by the generalizations, but please keep in mind that part of the reason they get made is because being more specific can bring down the wrath of the Mods. So someone will say Prems or Freems instead of Player A, B and C. I honestly think people only mean to include the group of players making the complaints rather than sweeping all Freems/Prems under the same umbrella. -
Quote:A pair of return questions - if the kicked players started summarily boycotting kicking team leaders {thank you, note system} on all their characters, don't you think that sentiment would quickly be blunted? Finding and waiting for a player who would say "oh hey, you're that guy who kicked me for not good reason" would waste the kicker's time and effort as well, and that sort of appeal to self-interest tends to get a person's attention quickly.
I do boycott build nazi's (with 1 star and notes) and quit teams whenever I encounter them. The trouble is most people don't either because they don't know about it, or they think it's too much effort to bother with it.
You can't force people to educate themselves on game mechanics, or use the tools at their disposal.
Quote:And on the more principle-oriented side, does that mean that the influence of build nazis, however many there may be, should dictate game development?
Yes. The devs have already altered game mechanics based on the behavior of individuals abusing game features. Why would they stop now?
1. RMT spam motivated the devs to implement draconian restrictions on chat channels, SG membership, Email access, etc.
2. AE exploit abusers motivated the devs to implement changes to the Mission Architect. -
Quote:Seriously? Because if the majority of Veteran/VIP's avoid it like the plague and complain about it being too hard and ambush happy, then obviously the new/F2P players will get the wrong idea about the difficulty of the rest of the game from their first impression and stop playing. Why not make it all F2P? Seriously, I see no logic behind keeping it premium/VIP.
And the devs are perfectly aware how desolate Praetoria is from their datamining, It isn't a case of a small group of disgruntled loudmouths venting on the forums. -
And I think you are naive if you honestly think there aren't a lot of build nazi's in this game.

Quote:I only mention this because I just saw this happen in January. If it is a gift card the OP is referring to, does it have Visa/Mastercard on it or is it a store specific gift card.I use giftcards exclusively and am having problems with my newest one...it's a vanilla visa.
The visa ones i was getting that activate through mygiftcardsite have never had any problems.
I was in a checkout line a few people behind a woman who went ballistic when she learned that the grocery store wouldn't accept her Best Buy gift card to pay for groceries. -
I wouldn't mind seeing some soloable incarnate content for those of us that can't stand monstrously huge Trials.
