The "problem" with teams is that there are far too many people unwilling to get off their butts and start teams. They prefer to stand around spamming LFT messages and waiting for someone else to accept leadership.
I have logged on at various times of the day on different servers and seen the same scenario happen over and over. There's half a dozen or more players standing around Miss Liberty in plain sight of each other and each one is spamming LFT for DfB.
I've even gone so far as to form the teams up for them and start a trial/TF and quit only to see them less than a minute later spamming LFT again because none of them wanted the star. -

Quote:It does cover it, but the devs have made it crystal clear that they will not make it any easier to create solo/personal SG/bases.I have a question on this...why wouldn't a personal SG with personal SG base, not beable to cover this?
The OP seems to be suggesting a space that is only open to an individual character. There would be no inviting other characters to join in order to boost the development funds (prestige). -

Someone must be pretty bored at work to necropost a 2 year old thread
-
Not a cent more than I can afford on my extremely limited budget but far less than I'd like to be able to spend.
-
You can keep asking for it all you like, it won't change the devs minds.

Quote:Thanks! I apreciate what you found. I don't really follow Ustreams so now I see why I don't recall it, AND (lol) after checking the thread you linked I see I actually posted in it back in August. I also see that Arcanaville also popped in and corrected the post Je_Saist made about what Positron actually said on the Ustream.if i can dig it up again ill gladly quote it, i dont remember the exact dev who said it but i recall seeing a dev post on this when the subject came up like 3x all in the same month like a year or so ago
the powerset respec idea is one of those that seems to come up quite often so i have been having difficulty finding it
edit: heres a post that prolly helps, this was from a thread thats dated 8/4/2011, not exactly how i remember it but the basic idea is that the devs are still not considering powerset respecs
Quote:Positron did not say that because powerset respec was a lot of work it was not the development schedule. Positron said powerset respec was not on the development schedule which is dev-speak for "we're not working on it" and separately from that said it would take so much work to implement he had no idea what they could possibly price the feature at (assuming it was a Paragon Store feature).
In jest, he suggested agreement with a suggestion by a ustream comment that suggested $50. Although that was obviously a joke, it nevertheless implies in broad strokes both the level of effort involved and the likelihood we'll be seeing this feature anytime in our foreseeable future.
Positron did seem to not be unilaterally opposed to powerset respecs, but that represents only the first of many other non-technical barriers to them being implemented. -
Quote:The devs should have known better when they decided to listen to the complaints some players were making on the forums for years about how they hated doing low level content because it was boring and too easy, and how they PL'd and Farmed their way thru it as fast as possible so they could get to the challenging 30+ content. That difficulty curve was designed for a reason. Hitting the delete key on it and doing whatever they felt like for 1-30 content was ridiculous.
But since they decided to give the players something they claimed they wanted, what the devs should have done is create a whole new faction and seperated the requested harder low level content from the original content so players could have a clear choice between the two.
Ah well, it's probably best that they didn't do it that way. There would probably be still be people complaining that the new content was too challenging.
That being said they did go overboard on the ambushes. -
Quote:I don't recall ever seeing a dev say that. If there's a link I'd love to see it cuz that's totally different from what I've seen them say in the past.IIRC i recall a dev (posi i believe) saying that powersets are hardcoded at character creation and giving us the ability to change them would be a monumental task that would not be worth the effort
What I recall them saying was a flat out no they wouldn't consider it, and that they designed the game to be alt friendly so if players wanted to try out new power sets they should create a new character. -
I wonder how long it will take for someone to pop in with the "But I don't want to lose my badges" argument.

Quote:For my Native American Beast/TA MM I went with the Gunslinger hat, a sleeveless jacket with the Eagle chest symbol underneath, Blue pants tucked in with a yellow stripe down the side (to denote US Cavalry) and Cowboy boots.I third this. While making a toon that was a Native American, I wanted to include a bunch of feathered costumes, but since they didn't exist I had to go with bones. It kind of ruins the exotic feel and instead gives it kind of an off-putting look.
Would have much preferred some feather options and a hair option that had long hair and a headband. -
1. Do the trust fund, get the cash settlement.
2. Give 1 million each to immediate family/close friends
3. Put 50 million aside as a retirement nest egg in case everything else goes in the crapper.
4. Use 25 million for various charities.
5. Use 25 million to open and run the best funded gamestore known to man. Then hire good friends to help run the place for far too much money.
6. Use 100 million to invest. Use the profit from that to pay any bills/taxes/expenses I may incur.
7. Use 100 million as fun money.- Use some of it to get the devs to add features I want to the game like new zones, new base editor, personal lairs.
- Build a zombie proof house. There's a missile silo up in upper NY that's been converted to a residence, and there's a European company that designed the perfect zombie proof house. Add a nice big thick wall around the property and a moat with drawbridge. (I always wanted a moat). Also make the entire residence as green and self sufficient as possible. I.E. Windmills and solar panels for power, a well for water, a green house for raising food.
- Buy a couple of electric cars so I don't have to scrounge for gas after the Zombie Apocalypse. Telsa Motors has some nice ones, maybe I can get them to build a zombie proof SUV.
- Buy an island.
- Buy an authentic WWII PT Boat for the island. (I always loved those things) There's one for sale in NY for only a million bucks.
- Recruit/employ a bevy of attractive, scantily clad, and well trained gamer girls with absolutely no morals to be my personal assistants, maids, cooks, chauffeurs, pilot, bodyguards, entertainers, etc cuz if the Zombie Apocalypse does happen I sure as hell don't want to be stuck surviving it with a bunch of smelly guys unless they are good friends.
- Buy the rights to some some games I always enjoyed and republish them.
- Go to some of the best colleges and get a short list of brilliant applicants that had great grades but couldn't get in because they didn't have the money/scholarships, and offer them a free education if they'll agree that I get their services for free if I ever need them.

Hey Zwill, just out of idle curiosity, if someone were to win a huge lottery, how much roughly does it cost to create a new zone, (like a Moon zone) and would Paragon Studios accept money from a private party to create something like that?

Since we'll probably never be able to change origins, at least it's very easy to write an explanation into a bio explaining a change in origins, or multilple origins.

Quote:I strongly recommend you never look at any of my builds cuz you'd probably have an aneurysm. The most important part of a character concept, to me, is conceptual development. It actually really irritates me when people say "I refuse to use X because it doesn't fit my original concept." Concepts can grow. Characters can grow. They can gain things they didn't have to start with.
I skip powers for concept reasons.
None of my 50's have bothered to finish unlocking their Alpha slots.
I never use IO sets.
All of my builds are a mix of SO's and basic IO's, because I refuse to pay the ridiculous market prices. And the only time I craft recipes is if it's something I can sell for the same prices I refuse to pay.
I have characters that I never bothered to respec into Inherent Fitness because I'm happy with their Fitness free builds.
I frequently ignore Inherent Fitness on new characters because the free slots it comes with meets my needs.
I ignore travel power pools unless a concept requires something other than Ninja/Beast Run, Rocket Board, Magic Carpet, Coyote, or a Jet Pack temp power.
Oh and I NEVER slot Speed in Speed Boost, only End Mods. -
I'd just hire some ex Marines and Special Forces members. Their cheaper and have already been trained to be real heroes.

Quote:There's a Panther travel power on the beta server right now that comes with Stealth.Yes...we've got the four legged rig...so how about putting a travel power in the store that lets you turn into a Kitten, has inherent 55 feet stealth as the bonus.
You're cute, fluffy and a tabby!
Quote:Taste the power of kittens. -
Quote:I think the easiest way around this is to create a little kiosk you can buy with prestige or make with salvage, which you can place in any room in the base (including entry way), where you can pay rent. Leave the SG registrar alone, don't implement silly licenses. That way preemies are still restricted from creating SGs/granting bases to SGs who don't have them, but existing supergroups are not required to look outside their ranks for a veep to keep the power on.
It would be nice if the devs implemented this. -
Quote:The fact that you are a VIP doesn't matter. We have plenty of VIP's on the forums that paint fellow VIP's as bad guys when they agree with the devs decisions about Freedom's account restrictions and subscription incentives. They've been doing it since Freedom was announced in June of 2011.Hmmm. What color is my name on the board?
And what does that mean?
Yeah. Obviously I'm "portraying VIPs as bad guys." Because obviously all VIPs are in terror of having their status "diminished" ... except, of course, that I'm VIP and arguing in favor of this. Sheer genius. I think the squirrel needs to cut down on his drinking. He's messing with your mind.
Quote:My issue is with people who think opening things to other people - that they have to pay for separately - somehow "diminishes" them, and so they want to lock as much away behind their "special" status as possible and fight tooth and nail for every inch, no matter how it would be convenient for others *or* make Paragon Studios money to keep developing more stuff for the game. -
Yes and Yes. The colors vary from character to character because it's enough for me just to see the conversations broken into separate color groups.

We'd all like that, but where storage is concerned I always had the impression the devs put a cost on everything they give us. And I don't necessarily mean monetary. More of a they'll give us this but change or take away something related.
