I never said they weren't trying to make money. What I actually said is that not all of their pricing decisions are motivated by the desire to make a quick buck.
  2. If the devs were ever going to consider something like this the only way they could do it would be by completely tearing out the current base feature and building a new one from scratch with this designed into it from the get go.

They would also have to find a way to insure the players with current bases don't lose anything they currently have in their bases along with compensating them for anything earned/lost under the current base feature.

The OP's idea doesn't even take into consideration the fact that thousands of the existing bases are Solo SG's. Nor does the idea take into account how unpopular zone events are with the player base and how unhappy players will be when they can't use their bases because a raid is going on.

So in addition to the raids the devs would have to also add an option that allowed SG Leaders to opt out of the raids.
  3. Been a while since I got to use this. /jpowerranger
  4. Natural because I like Throwing Knives and I refuse to learn 10,000 different names for DO/SO enhancements.
  5. 1. Base raids were already a feature in the game and disabled because it was so borked, and wasn't popular.

    2. Base raids cannot be reactivated because the base pathing was disabled which prevented players from building "illegal" (from a base raiding perspective) base designs.

    3. All those "illegal" bases would have to be rebuilt from scratch which will piss off far more players (the base building community) than is worth the effort.

If the change cost like 200 pts I would have bought them, since I don't want to do 2 days of tips and 2 more to get back to my origin. Changing sides it in game is really not that much work maybe 1hr a day tops, I'm just lazy. But not worth giving out $10 for.

Just saiyan, if you want to make money don't charge complete ludicrous prices for convenience items that you can easily get in game, and people might start buying them.
You seem to be under the erroneous assumption that some items on the market are being sold purely for profit as opposed to the truth that they are only there as an alternative option for players that don't want to use the free in game methods of aquiring them. And as such have been priced high enough to discourage all but the most determined players from buying them frequently.

If you aren't buying the alignment changes, respecs, and other high priced items, then the devs pricing is WORKING AS INTENDED. It may come as a shock but not everything the devs do is motivated around making a quick buck.

Nope. I don't personally care if non subscribers get no access, partial access, or unrestricted access.

I can see the logic behind the devs decision and it makes sense. I can also understand peoples desire fore more access.

However I'm not going to support a request for more free access just because a nonsubscriber was given partial access.

Now Goat has given us a beautiful argument that I think even the most determined opponent will find difficult to refute and I applaud his efforts.

But forums are not the game, they're an adjunct to the game. And unlike the in-game environment, the forums are 'created' by the players. Experienced, motivated players participating in forums are a resource for the game & its players, VIP and otherwise.

In game, I'm a total leech.
I enjoy (nearly) all the environment has to offer for free- aside from the dearth of character slots & incarnate stuff I haven't noticed any difference from my days as a paying customer, other than I'm not paying anything.

Here, on the forums, I am a resource. Left to my own devices I instigate discussions, I help people out with advice where appropriate, I participate in discussions. Even people who don't like me would mostly admit that on balance I'm 'good' for forums.

It doesn't make sense to me that I'm given free run of the game, the thing they deserve to be paid for, while being denied free run of the forums, where they could be taking advantage of my content creating largesse.
Now there's a solid argument that even the most devoted of opponents will find difficult to refute. Good work. It's the type of thing even cynical jacktards like myself can get behind and support.

What's the point of excluding forum access from that list?
Especially given that players with a long history of subscription are likely to be valuable community assets.

If the forum restriction is an arbitrary one (and other than possible technical limitations I haven't seen a compelling argument otherwise), the community inside the gate suffers more from it than those being excluded.

    Me either.
The internet is full of places to post, as many longtime regulars discovered following the silly ban on game chat in the culture forum.

But "this is how it is, so it shouldn't be changed" isn't a compelling defense, and forums rarely benefit from excluding informed, motivated contributors.
The exact same argument can be made about non subscribers asking for more access. Just because the devs were gracious enough to give non subscribers an inch (partial access for free) doesn't mean they are entitled to a mile (more access for free).

Wanting more access for free because they got partial access for free just isn't a compelling argument.

    Makes no sense.
It makes perfect sense. People who ain't subscribing don't get access to the same stuff subscribers get.

If they want full access they can pay for it.

Or the devs can go back to the pre-Freedom forum access where the nonsubscribers get any access to the forums. It won't bother me either way.
  12. Since some Prems have unlocked access to the inf cap and Went/BM I can see how access to the market forum would be useful.

    Just for clarification.

    1. If a player only has 12 slots on a server, and all 12 slots have characters on them then the player won't have any empty slots to unlock.

    2. If a character uses his global unlocks to unlock a character that is in a restricted AT like MM or Controller, he will have to purchase an additional unlock for MM's or Controllers unless he has enough Vet/Paragon Rewards earned to unlock the AT's.

    3. I believe cnce the player uses his global unlocks they are permanently assigned to that server and cannot be reassigned by going VIP and dropping back to Premium.
  14. If the OP is referring to the AE edition, the only thing special about that edition was that the people buying it got a coupon for a free booster pack (Magic or Cyborg). All subscribers had and still have unrestricted access to the AE regardless of whether or not they bought the AE edition.

Which also means fewer IOs on the market, since I'm either leaving them in place or destroying them with a replacement, instead of swapping them out in respecs. I have no intention of ever actually paying money for a respec.
Well considering that the devs intentionally placed the price of respecs high enough to discourage people from buying them willy nilly because they want to reclaim some enhancements, yet low enough to be affordable for people serious about wanting to do a respec I think you'll find that your not buying respecs is working as the devs intended.

So please keep boycotting purchased respecs.

In my case, I got lucky because the old name was a copyright violation.. but it took an appeal to a senior GM through the support "ask a question" system. You can try to do the same thing on the basis that the name is "offensive". Even if they turn you down, you will have a written record of what happened and why.

Please don't shoot the messenger here but I've heard this is not a trivial thing to do programming-wise and that is the reason this isn't offered as a service. That could change in the future; especially now that we have the Paragon Market and people can possibly spend points to do this. I'm sure that would help ease the pain of the overhead.

As far as supergroup perks go, count me in for anything that makes sense and makes supergroups more fun and functional for everyone. IMHO such things are long overdue.

Nice to see the interest in these matters.
Another possible reason we aren't aren't allwed to change SG names could be the ease with which they could be abused. For example a dishonest or disgruntled player finds themselves in the Super Leader position and decides to kick everyone and keep everything in the SG for himself.

An SG name change would allow that person to change the name and hide everything the SG accrued in plain sight with no other players being the wiser because Customer Service won't get involved in internal SG disputes.

I'm not sure what game you've been playing but here in City of Heroes the majority of players have altitis, and thousands of us have multiple accounts because there aren't enough character slots for us on individual servers.
  21. I'd love it if they'd get rid of the cap and let us buy as many slots that we wanted on a server.

Ya should have made 6 other accounts and created the Clown MM's henchmen and set them so they followed your main character around.

    What Gaia said.

    Difficulty Heroic/Villainous - Challenge level 1 - require a team of 6 to spawn AV's
    Difficulty Tenacious/Malicious - Challenge level 2 - require a team of 5 to spawn AV's
    Difficulty Rugged/Vicious - Challenge level 3 - require a team of 4 to spawn AV's
    Difficulty Unyielding/Ruthless - Challenge level 4 - require a team of 3 to spawn AV's
    Difficulty Invincible/Relentless - Challenge level 5 - AV's spawn even if solo

The only thing a full team accomplishes on a DFB is it prevents the queue from adding uninvited players onto the team if they aren't using closed team/leagues.

Let the leaders lead and the followers follow. A good leader is always going to find potentially good leaders to groom up for the times when they are not there and that is how that skill is passed down to those that show promise in that area.

It is perfectly fine to be a warrior following the chief.

Tank please pull Nightstar to me here. Everyone else off the court and behind me here. Thank you.

You are absolutely correct. BUT if someone chooses to be a follower and stand around with his thumb up his butt waiting for someone else to take the initiative of leadership, that person has no right to complain about not being able to find teams.
