Quote:Vanguard is an NPC organisation that doesn't use the games SG/Base features. The devs are allowed to break their own rules. Much like they do with NPC power sets.I'll sign this. Vanguard allows both Heros and Villains to join, players should be given the same freedom, they should be allowed to form groups that span the full spectrum of alingments this game locks you into. I don't see why the FBSA (or whatever the name of the bureaucratic office is) that tells me I must get a license in order to be a hero, deciding who I can and can't join a group with.
The FBSA's authority doesn't apply in Pocket D, DA, Cimerora or Praetoria. I don't understand why the FBSA can dictate who can be in my base and who can join my group. -
Quote:...and whoever else in the SG that doesn't 'fall in line' with your SG/base alignment change by the majority has 'what' happen to them? They become refugees of their own SG?
Just saying...prepare to loose whatever members in your SG that don't 'fall in line' should this base option be activated...*
* - obviously inapplicable to solo SGs or SGs where 100% of member choose to change alignment.
A system could be designed that automatically formed their own SG so those characters could still group together.
I think that the players that would support the OP's idea are ones most likely running solo SG's where they don't have a conflict of interest, which is why I said earlier the idea would best work with personal lairs. -
Quote:Personally I wouldn't mind seeing a system that worked like that. Convincing the devs to do it tho seems unlikely.By that reckoning, that means it would be more correct for the base's "faction" to be whatever is the faction of the majority of that base's group members.
That means if more than half of them go from hero, to vigilante, to villain, their base should become a villain base. -
Quote:It's also a perfectly valid argument that SG's/VG's that have members in the process of switching sides should incur penalties like prestige loss and other things because the actions of said "Renegade" members are ruining the reputation of heroic/villainous groups. Because any Heroic or Villainous group that allows it's renagade members to use it's facilities while performing feats that are contrary to the faction it is aligned with is condoning those actions.Claws, Forbin, kindly direct your attention to my previous post. There are perfectly valid reasons for Rogues and Vigilantes to have access to the other sides bases.
Note, access only. Yes, I agree with their not being a need for use of teleporters or storage. But access itself would make a number of the RPers on Union rather happy, myself included.
And as much as some people don't like it, the devs have made it abundantly clear that SG's are multi-player content regardless of the fact that many of us jump thru hoops to use SG's/bases as personal solo content.
Now having personal/secret lairs would avoid that argument entirely because they wouldn't rely on prestige/public opinion. -
Quote:Oookay. NOW I get why they want to do this.
The target asteroid they want to tow back - which is only about 2km wide - is 3554 Amun. Which is made up of the usual silicates, interesting ores, and odd bits of space ice...
Oh yeah, and a few thousand tonnes of native platinum, plus a bunch of tellurides, sulfides and platiniridium alloy. Yummy.
I never trust stories posted to Mashable over numbers, but if it's even a tenth as rich as the estimates then there's about two trillion bucks' worth of rare metals in them thar 'roids.
http://news.yahoo.com/20-trillion-ro...235028470.html
Yeah but it'll probably cost a hundred trillion to exploit it's resources. -

Quote:Exactly. The game is called City of Heroes where morality is a fundamental part of the game. You are either Good, Evil, or in the process of falling/being redeemed.Because:
Dr. Doom isn't invited to just wander around in the Baxter building whenever he feels like it.
The Joker doesn't get to store his stuff in the Batcave.
And hundreds of other examples of why villains shouldn't be allowed in hero bases (and vice-versa)
It's one thing to have the freedom to change morality, it's another thing entirely if you then go and make that morality not even matter.
This is an MMORPG, and like it or not we have to play the role of either a Hero, Villain, Rogue/Vigilante, Praetorian and there are consequences to choosing a faction.
It is not City of Meta-Humans where morality (Good vs Evil) doesn't have an impact on the game.
Instead what the OP should be lobbying for is personal lairs which would belong to the character and not an SG/VG which is restricted to a particular faction.

Quote:Not sure I follow what you mean by 'a political message'?Quote:I think what was meant by "political message" is that there would be a certain amount of "political correctness" you'd have to deal with in portraying a powerset with angelic overtones.
Ironically while most people can probably accept Demon Summoning as a powerset you'd probably have more people upset with the game trying to define/visualize the way angels work. Many people have many different religious beliefs and some people would be less comfortable seeing certain kinds of religious imagery depicted in the game than others. Would these angels be Judeo-Christian in nature or would they borrow from other styles/faiths? Would the MM involved be considered some kind of cleric/priest or would people come up with more disrespectful connotations?
Sadly having an Angelic Summoning powerset in the game would likely cause more tension and bickering than you'd initially expect or realize. We'd probably get a female-based MM powerset long before something like this. *shrugs*
I recall what happened a few years ago after an article was written complimenting CoH for allowing a certain group of players with a particular lifestyle to host a friendly event, to which everyone was invited, the previous month where the players in question held contests and gave out prizes to everyone that showed up.
The religious nuts and bigots exploded in rage on the forums. It was really ugly and the mods were swamped deleting/locking threads, and handing out suspensions and possibly a few perma bannings tho they never confirmed the bans occurred. -
Nope.
You can't even make the purchase unless you log into a Master account. So in order to buy it for someone else you'd have to know their Login and Password.
Then you are given the option to buy with a CC or Paypal.
Then you have to add your billing info.
Confirm the purchase
The system doesn't give you the activation code. It keeps track of it and applies it to the account.
Why? To keep dishonest people from buying the codes up cheap when they are on sale and selling them at a profit (the same codes over and over) to gullible people.
Then you either select an existing free account to upgrade or create a login and password for a new account.
Then choose a payment plan, which can immediately be cancelled if you intend to drop to premium after the free month VIP. -
/unsigned for reasons so obvious they don't have to be explained.

Quote:The devs (Sunstorm) flat out told us that the Super Leader rank was created so that CS could stay out of internal SG disputes.Basically, it comes down to the fact that they don't want to give 1 player the ability to rain on other players parades. Any one player. And that sorta makes sense, from a business standpoint. They're going to check to see if there is any hint of a dispute, and count (paying) subs on one side and compare to subs on the other side.
Quote:The new ranking system is mainly needed by our internal Customer Support team . . . This tool essentially allows us to resolve your tickets more rapidly, keeps us from getting involved in SG/VG political drama -
If the devs had the budget where they could afford to hire a separate team to work on this idea and still crank out new power sets I think it'd be great. However if they'd have to choose between new sets and adding alternative powers to old sets, I'll take the new sets.

I just did it to check. Log into your Master Account and create a new free account, then buy the kit. you'll be asked to apply the code, and then you get to select which account to apply it to. You'll only have one option if you only created 1 free account. Once you click the account to apply the code to you get asked to set up the CC payment which you can immediately cancel if you don't want to be charged and drop back to premium.
Edit:
Nevermind. -
Quote:By your own admission your laptop is over 4 years old. So I have no doubt that that it is your machine that's the problem. People on old systems should have at least upgraded their graphics cards when Ultra Mode was added. The problem is, I can't tell if it is me. It might be me, but half my SG has the same complaint: Atlas makes their machines go splut. So it might not be JUST my machine. Because it ran the old Atlas fine.
I saved up and got a new system last year (Intel Core i7 870 processor (4x2.93Ghz/8mb l3 cache), 8GB DDR3-1600 RAM, AMD Radeon HD 6850 1GB, 2 TB Hard Drive - 32M Cache - 7200 RPM - 3.0Gb/s) and I haven't seen anything you are describing in the last 15 months. Virtue is my main server and I have a sever case of altitis. So I'm constantly in Atlas when I play.
But if you want, you can post exactly what your laptop has and see if people will agree that your system meets the requirements necessary to run the game efficiently. -
So the OP's upset at the responses mini-maxers get from people that are sick of listening to them complain?
-
Quote:I'm sorry but this is not a problem the devs can fix. You are solely responsible for owning, maintaining, and/or upgrading the hardware necessary to play the game. Most of the RPers used to hang out on top of City Hall, but not as much anymore. Atlas crashes a lot of people's systems with it's crushing lag and memory leaks.
Also, devs, if you read this... please fix that. I miss being able to go into Atlas. I can't anymore because my system screeches to a halt when I get near City Hall or the plaza. -

Quote:TBH I mentioned it in case any Freems that were interested in the topic of this thread might read about the kit being on sale and decide to buy it.True in the general case, but OneFrigidWitch's gold name says that's not an option for him/her. Of course, the gold name also means "assuming you have zero points to start" is not necessarily a good assumption, but hopefully it illustrates how things work.
Heck even if they only pick up the kit I'm happy.

Quote:This is what happens when someone on the dev team decides to save a couple of bucks and buy a market feature from a third party instead of developing a market interface specifically for this game. There are actually ten different items, and you can only buy each one only once. You can put them in your basket again, but you'll get an error at the checkout.
I assume it's because the market can manage to cope with items you can buy any number of, and items you can only buy once, but isn't able to handle limiting an account to buying ten of one type of item. -
Quote:We've known since Going Rogue launched that account bound enhancements cannot be stored in base storage.
I like the new things on the market this week... But whats with the purple set not being able to be stored in the base?
I'm gonna have to store them in my tray till my toon is 50 but i was hoping to put them in my base and i can't
In future paragon can you let us know kthksbye
(Going Rogue Pre-Order thru Gamestop first introduced account bound enhancements to the game.) -

Unless a Freem buys the VIP Starter Kit which is temporarily on sale for .99 cents which gets him 400 points and then spends $10 bucks to get another 800 points netting him 1200 points for $10.99.

And I thought this was gonna be about someone that dressed their kid up in a Slave Girl Leia costume and took her to work.

Quote:If you come right out and say that you're going to ignore people telling you things you don't want to hear.......why did you bother posting this in the first place?
It's not the devs' or mods' job to make sure you don't waste slots. You need to pay attention to what you have unlocked.Quote:This was my take on the OP as well...
And I was also put off by the outright declaration that the poster doesn't intend to work within the 'rules' of posting and still wants us to care about his/her thoughts. If you can't work within the system, the system won't work with you.
