Thanks Agge. I forgot to check back in on this thread.

Quote:This reminds me of a thought that's been dancing around the back of my mind. Now I'm not trying to take away any of the focus or awesome away from the Avengers, but when we see something huge like this invasion take place in a Marvelverse city known to be home to several popular Super Heroes, I can't help but think it could have been cool to see them make a few cameo appearances helping out on the sidelines.I couldn't help but tease people in the main General Discussion forums about having zone events like the big climax of the film in New York city....I mean, wouldn't we all want something like that where pretty much every character gets to shine in a specific way?

Quote:Ah I see, thanks for clarifying that. However I have to be honest and say I haven't seen very many people behaving in the fashion you describe outside of the occasional "Merge the Server" rants on the forums.Woah woah woah! I never said they should lie. However, galavanting around proclaiming they are moving to blue doesn't fix anything though, which is what I was saying they shouldn't do.
Quote:Also, if everyone who ever left redside due to population stayed... it wouldn't be as big of an issue either. Which is sorta the point of the thread.
Now if they were all from the same server I'd believe people would notice their absence. -
Quote:Fine with me Bill. I have no problem with staking out every single one of the foul mouthed pancakes (be they PvPers or PvEer's) on top of a fire ant colony and covering them in honey. Those obnoxious players are a bane to all aspects of the game.To be brutally honest, I've /ignored, noted and /petitioned *far* more people in PVE for acting like that than I ever did in PVP. Yes, even when PVP was fairly active.
So unless you want to do the same to all PVE players, let's try to avoid painting groups with such a broad brush, m'kay? -
Who said I was joking? Have you met some of the obnoxious {pancakes} that shoot their foul little mouths off in PvP zones? Those little creeps should be sterilized in the most painful way possible to keep them from reproducing.

Unannounced Zone Event
Gigantic Anvils and Toilets rain down from the Heavens everywhere in a random zone.
Being struck causes instant perma-death and automatic deletion of the now deceased character. -
Quote:Respectfully I loathe and despise 99% of open world content because:Okay, so, maybe it's not a lot. But the loss of the "open world" part would really throw me off, personally.
1. On populated servers it's a PITA to complete your missions while competing with other players/teams for the same objectives.
2. It brings out the absolute worst behavior in some people. -
Quote:On this you are absolutely right. I know for a fact it was possible back then because I was in the same Hero SG on Virtue as Saros. One of two players that managed to find the loophole that allowed their Villain AT's to become Heros. "Saros" was an Elec/Elec Brute, and the other player I ran into ran a Ninja MM called "Master of Assassins" as I recall.edit:
know what, scratch that, there's no real reason they could not have made the ATs not be side specific sooner then they did. and 'settling' as i had to, to-many times over the years, has pretty much left me fed up with it taking as long as it did to get to the point where it should have been around I8 /vent -
Remember how to Fix PvP folks.
Spay or neuter PvP players. -
Quote:See there's my disconnect. I play on "Nebula" all the time and I don't have trouble finding teams, but then I'm a member of several global channels (global channels provide cross server communications) and when I've asked for help I've had people I know on them more than willing to switch servers (or factions) to run something with me. Global channels are a great tool for finding teams no matter what server you're on.Nope, okay, see, right there is my disconnect.
Let's say I'm on Nebula, the "nobody's here" server. (See? You've never even heard of it, that's how few people are on Nebula!) I want to team. I click "Transfer to Other Server", make my choice, and within moments, bam. Teams. Invites. Costume Contests. More players than I can shake an Endurance bar at.
I have my bit of fun, and when I'm done, if I want, I click, "Go Home", and bam, I'm back to Nebula and solo-style play.
That seems like a lot less coding for the Devs than "cross server teaming", but accomplishes about 95%+ of the same things in my mind.
It does vastly reduce the "server transfer token" use, but wouldn't cross-server teaming mostly do that anyway?
Again, I'm not trying to be difficult. I honestly feel like I'm some sort of blind fool, who can't see how obviously awesome cross-server teaming is, because I can't think it's much more than "free unlimited server transfers".
Memphis_Bill - Valid points, I suppose. But again, those can be addressed by making those properties "sticky" when you click "transfer to other server" button.
But aside from that, if this feature is possible and helps the game be more profitable, then I'm all for it. -
Quote:So they should stay where they aren't happy and they should lie about it? Sorry but that sounds like a recipe for disaster that will drive customers away from the game. He's only blaming the players that see population as an issue... then, instead of staying as a small boon they leave making it worse... and then telling other people that's why they did it. Which, arguably, is worse than just doing it.
I'd much rather them come blueside where we have pie and bacon and they are free to be happy and honest. -
Quote:Sure thing. I'll even toss in the one where an OP was worried the Science Booster was encouraging people to cross dress in real life and was a bad influence on children.Forbin, will you PM me the link to that other thread? I need a few more laughs.
Thanks. -

Quote:Ah. I see. I'm not sure exactly when I'm supposed to get my 8 year vet badge cuz active time has been thrown off schedule from the free months I got each time I bought a newly released edition of the game.I think the confusion here is that people who've been here fully subscribed since the beginning of the game (like myself) should be getting the annual vet badges at just about the same time as the game anniversary badges, give or take a few days.
To be perfectly clear I just logged in and got the 8th Anniversary badge (Rhapsodic) for my characters but I'm overdue for my 8th year Vet badge by a few days now (should have had it on April 28th).
Is it possible your vet schedule was thrown off balance the same way? -
Quote:Sorry didn't mean to imply the devs were against the idea of offline promotion/demotions. Just wanted to share the last official info on offline SG invites in case anyone was unaware of it.The offline promote/demote suggestion relates more to characters already in the SG. I feel it would be helpful in reorganizing a roster rather than simply removing people especially in cases where a player holding an officer position has a RL situation preventing them from logging in at a convenient time for the SL to demote them.
Also if SG titles are used more so for RP purposes, the offline promote/demote feature would make rearrangement a very simple matter. This would favor very large SG's; its easier to delegate tasks to one or two people rather than trying to coordinate efforts with a multitude of people. -
Quote:Because they don't want us inviting our own characters into solo SG's. It's that simple. They trot out the standard SG's are team content excuse, but they simply don't like us making solo SG's/bases.Did they say why?
Okay, I get that they didn't design supergroups and bases with the idea in mind that they would be utilized by a single player. Therefore,I understand if the Devs wouldn't go out of their way to make it easier to manage a solo SG. But to go to the effort of adding code that insures solo groups can't benefit from a new QOL feature? I don't understand that.
And to be clear none of the players like this. This is one of the few topics I've never heard anyone agree with the devs on. -
Quote:I guarantee there will be whiners complaining that what they wanted was a vehicle with it's own powers that they could customize.I gotta say, the idea and execution are both pretty neat IMHO. Certainly provides a solution to those who've wanted vehicles since forever.
Now if we can just CUSTOMIZE that vehicle...hmmmmm...
Quote:I really like this idea, though it would be nice if we had more vehicle models to choose from, and the ability to choose which model would appear when we trigger the power (much like how a selection window comes up when using base teleport).
Of course, the game does not currently feature any other aerial vehicles ... so providing more options would be a problem in that regard. But I'd still like to be able to choose from among the 3 listed. -
Quote:First off, I just checked the store and the SSA'a and they are only 400 points a piece ($5 bucks USD).That really puts into perspective how hideously overpriced these were. 70 quid!!
Second I was under the understanding that the SSA's were account wide unlocks. SUre if I had to buy them for each character I'd agree that was horribly overpriced, but If every character I currently have and will ever make gets access to them it's a bargain. -
Quote:1. The devs have flat out told us this will not happen, and if a player wants to try a new power set they should roll up a new character.so i had an idea a week ago or so, maybe longer, for a second type of respec, a 'super respec' if you will.
basic idea is that you take a character, and re-pick the AT and power sets with out having to delete and re-roll and start from level 1 again.
i bring this up cause I'm sure I'm not the only one that has older characters that they had to 'settle' on, Blasters that should be Corr's, Scrappers that should be Brutes or Stalkers, and so on. or maybe you don't have many character slots thus you want to preserver your progress instead of starting totally over, or your in a themed SG and the people with invite powers aren't around when you are and you wanna re-roll.
a few things though. the 'contact' to redeem these should be in Ouroboros (for thematic reasons, since it would be rewriting your history), with a min level of 20 to use them, (i figure lvl20 is good cause you have a fair chunk of your powers by then and can tell if the sets are working for you or not)
anyway, that's my idea. a time saver and potential new source of money, cause i know i'd buy a few of these if they showed up in the market
2. The game is deliberately designed to be alt friendly and it would be stupid of the devs to undermine their character slot sales.
3. It is ridiculously easy to level up in this game. Getting to level 20+ can be done in an hour by running DfB/DiB's and even faster using XP boosters and 2XP tokens.
4. The only remotely legitimate argument ever made was by Badgers that don't want to lose specific badges that aren't awarded any more. And that argument could be resolved by the much simpler solution of making those particular badges account wide rather than character specific.
So /unsigned -
Quote:I was under the impression that the # year vet badges were completely separate items from the anniversary badges as I have both up to 7. The anniversary badges are awarded for participating in the anniversary celebration, and the # year vet badges are awarded for every 12 months you subscribe.OK, so not only do you seem to be one of the only cases I've heard of of ANYONE getting these badges since CoH:Freedom launched but you also got it earlier than it should have been possible for ANYONE to have gotten it given that April, 28 2012 was the "official" 8th anniversary according to the rules laid out by the original Vet Award system.
Don't you feel special?
Or am I mistaken and have been given 7 badges in error? -
Quote:I admit I wasn't in prelaunch beta testing so I have no hands on experience with that system, but both the devs and players that were there confirmed it was tested and scrapped because it horribly unbalanced characters. But was that with or without usage limits and enhancement slots?
Oh and for the record I'm not necessarily against the idea, just sharing that the devs have looked into letting characters have access to powers that are now restricted to power sets.
I have a few characters whose concepts could be polished with a power or two from other power sets, even if they were drastically toned down to the equivalent of temp powers. -
Quote:I stopped listening to movie critics back when The Empire Strikes Back was released and I watched one idiot complain that the movie was bad because it raised more questions than it answered. He must have been the only person on the planet that didn't already know there was going to be a third movie.Yeah laughing at the negative reviews is probably appropriate for this film. But I often find it fascinating to read the "minority report" reviews whenever a movie is either strongly positive or negative. Sometimes their points of view on why they disagree with everyone else is surreal.
One of the classic ones I remember was this reviewer who absolutely hated the first Matrix movie because they didn't like the "imaginary" parts when Neo was on the ship as a normal human but loved the "real" parts when Neo was in the city flying around and dodging bullets while fighting the agents. Somehow this reviewer had completely reversed which parts of the movie were supposed to be in the "real world" versus which parts were in the Matrix. And somehow that person had a "job" as a movie reviewer. -
Quote:So you didn't get yours from Longbow/Arachnos.Neat concept! It's too limiting for me character wise, I don't associate most of my characters with either faction but if I end up making a toon that is really all Arachnos or Longbow, I may get it when it's on sale for sure.
- You bought it from Honest Achmed's Used Flyer Dealership.
- You got it by saving up 10,000,000 proofs of purchases from Hami-O's breakfast cereal.
- You stole it.
- You found one that was shot down and abandoned and took it home and fixed it.
