Yeah I hope the devs get rid of that minimum requirement before next year.

Quote:/This 150%honestly the new tutorial is just crummy all-around. I'd rather rescue Flower Knight from Contaminated than plink away at a Giant Shivan all by myself, it was certainly faster.
Uhm you actually bother shooting the giant Shivan? I kill of the little guys because they are the ones you need credit for to advance to the next map, and then read a book while the giant Shivans dies like it is programmed to. -
Quote:No, I'm not ignoring them. I'm just acknowledging the simple fact that they didn't have as big an impact on the majority of the player bases decision to avoid PvP as some would like to believe.Again, I agree with you that bad attitudes is a reason some folks avoid PvP.
It isn't the only reason.
You are ignoring common complaints like: Powers working differently, being defeated before you can react, Arena simply not working, steep learning curve, no real rewards.
It's sad that what PvP community we do have is frustrated because they can't enjoy it. Even tho I can't stand PvP myself I honestly wish they had something they could enjoy like the rest of us. -
I heard Hulk say "Puny god" thru the laughter but the scene I missed the dialogue because of the laughter was when Loki tapped Stark on the chest with his toothpick of destiny. Everyone started laughing at Loki's expression when he heard the "clink ...clink" and I missed Stark's response.

Quote:1. Prestige is meaningless. If a player foolishly thinks it matters its very simple to write down the prestige amount before transferring and upon returning and rejoining the SG he or she can convert some influence to prestige at City Hall.Although it is true that you can use 2 tokens to move the character and force the rename through that and then back, but you lose things in the transfer like conneciton to SG, prestigate level, rank in SG (even more difficult when you run a solo SG).
I would just like to be able to convert the transfers into something different. Maybe character slots at some rate.
2. Getting SG invites back into an SG is relatively simple if you let an SG member know what you are doing and ask them to invite you back in.
3. As long as your having someone invite you back in they can promote you as well.
3. Solo SG's are even easier. Simply use a second account to invite your own character back into the solo SG and promote him up to the previous rank. Prestige is even more meaningless in solo SG's.
Don't have a second account? Well it only costs $5 bucks to upgrade a free account to Prem and join your solo SG. Or a person can simply ask for help from one of the thousands of friendly and helpful players in the game or on the forums.
All that being said it would be nice if the devs decided to give us a pop up window where we could choose from a selection of options.
1. Server Transfer
2. Character Rename Token
3. Character Slots (I think 2 are the same value as a transfer, but my memory could be wrong)
4. Respec -
Quote:Congrats, as Kitsune already explained you have enough transfer tokens saved up to get the 4 rename tokens you want.Hello Everyone and Devs: I like to asked Devs/Support if we can get transfer token one month and rename token follow month and so on. Why I asking is I have like 8 transfer tokens and I like to get 4 change to rename token. They cost the same in store. So if we get 1 of each in 2 months then just getting transfer I be happy. Want to change couple of my character names

Quote:Ya know if the devs asked he'd probably love the idea of an MMO doing a parody of him.Someone likes Dr. Steel.
I see it as a common RP concept, though. It's still better than clowns.
Dr. Steel
His Nurses (female NPC's)
His Scouts (female NPC's)
His Toy Soldiers (male NPC's)
Finally a variety of Toys
Heck give players a chance to earn badges (Toy Nurse/Toy Soldier) giving them (based on character being Male or female) an unofficial membership to the the Doc's toy army.
I wouldn't be surprised if it helped draw some of Doc's real life fans to become players. -
Sally is our devs tribute to the Loch Ness Monster. The "attack" is the game mechanic the devs chose to simulate our attempts to get evidence she exists. It's also why we have to "find" her twice to get credit.

Quote:That's funny T_A, cuz I feel the same way about the new content. I wish to god the devs hadn't castrated the origin content in the starter zones and left players with no options but to farm DfB's or run those mindnumbingly boring Matthew Habashy/Twinshot crap.Funny, because once I'm out of the starter zones my reaction is to want to skip to 22, especially Blueside, because the legacy content is so mind-numbingly BAD.
Do you see where the other side is coming from, Sam? And the whole 'my game' thing is starting to feel a bit...well, it's not helping, lets put it that way.
The old stuff may have been run thousands of times but at least it gave me the illusion of variety and different scenery. When I got tired of AP, I could switch to Galaxy.
The new Atlas Park content reminds me of Kalinda/Burke and that boring linear content path is exactly why I stopped playing redside, and Praetoria. -
Quote:When I see players leaving zones when raids start, or raids in progress where a handful of interested parties can't find enough people to participate to meet the objectives then I define that as not being a big attraction.Wow, aren't you a little ray of sunshine?
Did you get up on the wrong side of the bed or something? 'Oh, yawn...not a big attraction.'
Quote:In what alternate universe where apparently breaking all these components up into seperate events become somehow more fun than putting them logically into one continuous scenario?
Quote:Are you seriously going to compare a moving, dynamic event such as what occurs in the movie to something like a Rikti Raid where the 'strategy' is 'stand in one spot and wait for the waves of spawn to appear in the huge cluster of heroes that stand around for the free XP?'
Quote:And you didn't even attempt to answer my question...instead, you sidestepped it by saying 'oh, nothing new.'
Quote:We don't have anything like that scenario in the game and you know it.
Quote:You're just being disingenuous at this point because of that.
Quote:And you're also talking about a zone event when everybody, including myself (the originator of the thread) agreed it'd work better in a Trial or a TF.
Quote:If the concept doesn't interest you that much that you're simply just nitpicking, then it'd be better to just say 'I don't like this' and move on, because that'd be better than what you're doing now. -
Quote:You've got to be kidding. Attracting and retaining the PvE players is the single most important thing PvP has always needed to do in this game. Without them you get the very situation we have right now where the devs refuse to waste time and resources on a feature 90% of the playerbase avoids.[Citation Needed]
Did anti-social jerks in PvP zones drive away newbies? Absolutely. But why would you focus on that one issue and *completely* ignore all of the other issues (past and present).
If PvP had a decent following the devs wouldn't have given up on it, but by their own admission they told us that even when PvP was at it's most popular, only 10% of the playerbase set foot in the PvP zones/Arena or participated in base raids.
Quote:At least with the *** you can turn off the opposing faction chat. Or do what you do in PvE, only play with folks you know or hit the ignore button.
Quote:The truth of the matter is that there were, and still are, many things wrong with PvP. Idiots (one of the problems) can be dealt with easily by newbie players. Players can't do anything about broken and/or stupid mechanics. When you say "verbally abusive PvPers drove away more PvP curious PvEers than broken PvP mechanics ever did", you're either being disingenuous or you honestly don't understand how frustrating PvP was and still is in this game.
Pray tell us how people that refuse to enter this games PvP environment because they wish to avoid the verbally abusive minority were frustrated by broken game mechanics they never encountered.
The truth of the matter is most of the playerbase couldn't tell you whats broken in PvP. At best they've only heard second hand complaints, but the most common response as to why they avoid PvP will be the desire to avoid the obnoxious minority.
Anyway back to what to do with what's left of PvP. If the devs do design a cross server teaming feature they might be able to use it to give what's left of the PvPers a way to more easily find each other. That way PvP could be removed from the individual servers to it's own separate server.
But rather than Co-op zones make them Villain zones with new content, to give redside a much needed boost in variety. Blueside could stand a good pruning of seldom used zones. -
I think their position on offline SG invites also qualifies. As we were told if they added such a feature they would design it so we cannot send SG invites to our own characters on the same account.

Sorry bout that, from the power descriptions it sounded like you were aware of it. Not only are attack toys part of their gadgeteering power set, but their Winter Event big zone event is a giant killer Teddy Bear.
-
Quote:So nothing new just put everything into one event. That's what I thought. Don't see that being a big attraction. And from what I've seen our Events are already comparable to the movie invasion as long as they occur in a popular zone for players to gather. Less popular zones frequently have no one show up at all.Okay, be nice first of all to people who haven't seen it yet and may appreciate no spoilers (I and others have made an effort here...) and please refrain from any more?
Alright, of the above list...how many exist in the same scenario? You only get destructable environments in Safeguards. You don't get the nukes, you don't get the alien invasion, nor the side-switching, nor the apparent inability to get along, nor a base nor a base raid.
The specific scenario I mentioned has all of those in the one package. CoH does not.
Or are you now going to tell me we're somehow better off because we can't combine or have multiple of the things above? Because if we could, we'd have what appears in that scene, everyone would have a moment to shine in a team environment and you'd have not only an exciting and dramatic scenario, but also an entertaining one.
Those things you listed are often isolated. Rikti raids. Bases. Safeguards. Nukes. Destructable environments are so isolated I'm not sure if they even get used much anymore. You can claim we have them, but in this case the sum of the parts do not equal the whole.
So to turn the question back on you: What do you think we do have that's comparable?
S.
Event starts, the majority of players go somewhere else leaving a handful to fight off the enemy.
Aliens invade New York, only six super heroes show up. All the other NYC based heroes in the Marvelverse are mysteriously absent. -
Quote:Why do you assume the people responsible for the exclusivity policy are Positron, Warwitch, or any of the other devs rather than some upper management twits that are using their authority to remain nameless?Of course, I know this means they'd have to get rid of Positron and WarWitch at the very least and possibly some others (Crosscheck? Giant Monster? TheDarkWatcher? Ghost Falcon? Maybe others?).
I don't think the idea of getting rid of those people so they can change plans would go over very well.
I've never heard any names mentioned. -

Quote:Actually I figured X-Men were to far away to show up. I was thinking Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, FF, and Spidey.Alas, the X-Men, Fantastic Four and Spiderman aren't owned (movie-wise) by Marvel, or you could bet your bottom dollar they'd make appearances. That's what Marvel wants, it's just that 20th Century Fox and Sony just see what they have as cash cows instead of really respecting the source material.

And I get the movie rights thing, Just think it'd been cool if it could have been worked out. -
Quote:Okay I can see how people who aren't sci-fi buffs might not know about the John Carter Barsoom books, but for us it's like not knowing who Tarzan, Superman, or Conan is before seeing the movie. Even if you don't read the books you know who they are.You know it's kind of sad that I think it's the last part that would have been the least likely to happen. I work in a bookstore and I can't tell you the number of times I've heard people say they're not going to buy a book specifically because it's either going to be released as a movie soon or already is a movie.
Personally I'll admit to having started to watch the movie before reading the book, but that's pretty much so I don't have to spend the entire movie noticing all the little things it did wrong or important bits (in my eyes) that it left out. The fact that some people see watching the movie as a replacement for reading the book though just makes me sad. -
Quote:I was surprised that people got bent out of shape over who died considering who it actually was.My job took me overseas last week and before I went home I made a detour on the way to the airport and saw the Avengers.
Yes, someone does die. I won't say who as I don't want to drop spoilers, but I don't think the death ranks down there with M. Night Plot Twist
Toss me a PM if you want to know who it is.

Paint me as the bad guy all you like but the truth of the matter is that the minority of verbally abusive PvPers drove away more PvP curious PvEers than broken PvP mechanics ever did.

Meh I don't like having to go to Champions Online to steal ideas for new Power Sets.

Quote:/ThisWant to trade? I'm somewhere north of 300 characters. >.>
Once you hit a certain point, it's better to just pick a few you might want it on and say the heck with the rest of 'em.
I only worry about my alts that have everything back to the first anniversary badge. -
Quote:Seen the movie, but didn't see much that we haven't already got somewhere in the game first. And why do I put that in the title?
Go and see the movie. Go and see something that happens in the film that I will simply call a zone event and then ask if you want to see something like that in the game.
Maybe not to the same scale and technical level, but in the way it's structured and the way it responds to a group of heroes and not just one.
People will want to have something like this, I think. But like I say, when you get to go see it (this includes you, Devs) cast a thought to if you'd want to see something with the zone event structure I mention and I think you'll find a lot of people will want it.
Fair warning, like I said. Feel free to respond if you've already seen the movie or after you do.

Aside from

Hulk sucker punching Thor (PvP) during the invasion.
Loki being thrashed like a rag doll
and actual buildings blowing up instead of just cars and stuff. -
Quote:This is not true at all. There are actually very few things the devs have said would never happen. There is a huge difference between saying they'd like to add a feature right away but they can't because of the amount of work involved will take a long time and no they aren't going to develop a feature at all. There were many things in this game that we were told would never happen due to time and tech restraints and slowly but surely they have made their way into the game. Power Customization anyone?
Power Customization was always on their to do list some day. It was players on the forums that twisted what the devs actually said into "it'll never happen" in their responses to the frequent Power Customization request threads.
Some items the devs have actually said would never happen are
Total respecs out of Power sets and AT's
Open world PvP
Allowing players to send offline SG invites to characters on the same account
