1. Make your chat box bigger so you the text doesn't scroll out of sight so quickly and it will be easier to follow RP/chat conversations.
2. Edit your chat box tabs so you won't have any extra channels other than the channel you RP/chat in and the unavoidable occasional Admin messages, and you you'll be able to follow the conversations easier.
3. If you are using a global channel for your RP/chat channel, don't use the same color (red) the Admin channels uses. -
Quote:That analogy doesn't work, because they don't just announce the start of the event. Or even the start and occasional reminders. They CONSTANTLY SPAM THE DAMN CHANNEL through the entire event. It's more like: "APPLE PIE WILL BE GOING ON SALE IN 10 MINUTES! THIS IS GREAT APPLE PIE! JOHN SMITH JUST BOUGHT A SLICE! THE WILSON FAMILY JUST BOUGHT A WHOLE PIE! COME ON GUYS AND GET IN ON THIS! AND HERE'S ANOTHER FAMILY FOR A PIE!" etc, etc, etc for the course of the entire sale. Oh, AND SHOUTED AT THE TOP OF THEIR LUNGS SO IT DROWNS OUT EVERYONE ELSE AND YOU CAN'T JUST TUNE IT OUT.
Really?
I just tap the letter "C" and my chat boxes go away. You can't be irritated by a message you can't even see.
I guess you'd prefer if our devs decided to make those non important announcements like Cryptic has decided to do in their games. Where you get an annoying message IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR SCREEN that says something like:
@TYGER42 HAS OPENED A SUPER PACK AND UNLOCKED A BLACK WOLF!!!
@HYPERSTRIKE HAS OPENED A SUPER PACK AND UNLOCKED A COSTUME PIECE!!!
@ANOTHERSTRANGERIDON'TGIVEADAMNABOUT HAS OPENED A SUPER PACK AND UNLOCKED AN ATO!!!
on and on
Now that's $##@%$@# annoying as hell. Some red text in a chat box doesn't even register on the annoyance chart. I'm sorry to hear it bothers you so much.

Quote:Well, I must have encountered a bug then cuz a few weeks ago I was doing just that on an old Prem account.Free players are limited in what inspirations they can get from drops - including merit rolls. Large Insps don't become available until T8 is complete; they will be reduced to Medium if T4 or higher or small in less than T4.
Edit. Yep. Just confirmed it must have been a bug cuz I logged onto the exact same character and the merit5s are gone, the Inf is still there, but this time the option to get Insp isn't even showing up when she uses the merit vendor. -
Quote:I did consider that when posting but I chose to stick with what in my opinion is most thematic with the holiday in question. Also, I'd think that changing the Hearts Aura to allow all colors would be better... After all there are Black Hearts and Blue hearts as well. A "flower burst" costume change emote would work too.
The flower burst is a good idea that would also work as an Aura.
Quote:Finally, "that head piece thingy" is called the victory laurel. -

I don't think it'll happen but I really would love to have that ability. Or at least change it to a single neutral color.

Quote:I wasn't aware the term I was thinking of was French. So I'll ask everyone to forgive my ignorance of what are, to me, foreign languages. And to be honest I don't even consider myself to be fluent in this my native language.Okay, quote isn't working right for some reason..
The movie example is Russian.
The term you're thinking of if French.
Edit: Oh and thanks to you as well for another little piece of info I was unaware of. -
Quote:I think so but I could be wrong.Huh, is that right? Freebies can't make the costume recipes? I've not tested that (I've not tested any freebie stuff yet, actually, hehe).
Quote:When considering the OP's question (regardless of how old this thread is)
Quote:I'm lv25 in Liberty server who just started playing again (I'm a free player). I can't use all the functions at the consignment house, and I'm specifically looking for Draconic Wings for my character. Is there anyone who actually found recipe and salvage for this costume piece while they were just playing? If yes, then how long did it take or where did you get it? What enemies were you fighting?
Quote:it does make me realize how much of a mess such a commonly desired (and often character defining) costume piece as wings are to acquire!
Seems a shame to me, but that's just my opinion on it. So many cool wing options, but they're somewhat buried in veteran rewards and random recipe drops (very common and easy to get on the market, but still a bit obscure for a new player looking to make a character).
However, the Valkyrie and Organic wings are available right up front (for a small price), as are the Steampunk wings.
Just seems like they should, at least, get some more standard wings in the character creator... because we do have them! The way it is makes it seem like the costume creator is more lacking than it really is.
It's just a one time expenditure of $5. bucks to buy the licenses for the market and IO's with a buck left over that can be spent on a super pack which will net the person several million depending on what items they get.
A single x25 reward merits can be traded in for Large Insp and then sold for a couple million if one checks the prices and also converts 3 less in demand insp for a single more in demand insp. I can get anywhere from 3-6 million from 25 reward merits.
And a single ATO can sell in the tens of millions.
That's all more than enough to buy the wing recipe, salvage, and crafting fees. -
Quote:Ah I see the problem. I thought what she said was spelled "Bravo-Alpha-India-Sierra-Echo moi" which when used as slang has a completely different meaning. Thanks for the correction in spelling.Actually you're way off. She said in Russian "bozhe moi" which translates directly to "my god".

Quote:Prems also can't convert inf to prestige either at the registrar. All they can do is get a list of super groups. What I'm now curious about is if the devs have confirmed if it really is all or nothing, or is it a series of flags that can be individually changed if they chose to allow it. Or are we just guessing.I think he mentioned SG creation instead of rent because they are both locked behind the same door - being able to access the SG registrar. You get both or you get neither. That said, my name isn't Necrotech_Master, so I obviously can't say what he was thinking - maybe he misunderstood the question for all I know.

Quote:I'm sorry but costume recipes drop randomly from all enemies. There is no way to predict how long it will take you to get Draconic wings to drop, nor is there any way to predict which enemy you'll get them from.I'm lv25 in Liberty server who just started playing again (I'm a free player). I can't use all the functions at the consignment house, and I'm specifically looking for Draconic Wings for my character. The RNG (Random Number Generator) is random. -
The only cursing that stood out in my mind was done by Black Widow right in the beginning, but it wasn't in English. When she realized the "big guy" she was being sent to get wasn't Stark, but Banner/Hulk. She looked around the room for a second and said <bleep> moi. which translate into English as "f" word me.

Quote:I'm not the one that made that decision. If I had a say in the matter a Valentines Pack would have consisted of:Calling it a "Valentine's Pack" doesn't make it, in any shape or form, associated with Valentines.
Toga
Sandals
that head piece thingy
a Belt with Hearts on it
Cupid's Bow
a Give Flowers Emote
a Give Heart shaped box of Chocolates Emote
a White Doves costume change (as opposed to the black ravens we got during Halloween)
a Cupid non combat pet that shoots arrows at other players/NPC's which cause an Aura of Red Hearts to appear on them for 1 minute.
a Red/Pink Hearts Aura (no other colors allowed) -
Quote:Really? Paying rent is locked behind VIP access? Are you sure about that? Cuz all this time I thought it was locked behind an accolade badge. The ability to Create an SG and the ability to pay rent are both still locked behind VIP access.
But seriously I'm curious, where in my question did I give the impression I wasn't aware that SG creation and paying rent were locked behind VIP access?
I understood Necro couldn't give a definite answer, I was just puzzled as to why he mentioned SG creation since I didn't ask about it. I have not read or heard any dev response indicating that the ability to pay rent is intrinsically linked to the ability to create an SG. Or have I missed a dev response in an obscure thread or a Ustream? If so could you direct me to it so I can see what else I may have missed? Thanks. -
Quote:/This 150% I despise shaky cam whenever it's used.I'm just glad they didn't use any shaky-cam in the action sequences. I don't mind slow/fast/slow action sequences that much (though they do feel like padding in some cases), but shaky-cam fights irritate the hell out of me. If I'm going to pay twelve bucks for a movie, I want to be able to see what's happening in the damn movie.

Quote:No they actually called it the Pocket D Valentines Pack. Here's Beastyles AnnouncementWhile I knew the pack was limited time (I bought it) was it a Valentine's Day pack? I thought it was the Pocket D Party Pack. It never felt like a valentine's day pack to me.

Even in an interdimensional nightclub made for heroes and villains, a spandex suit just isn't proper club attire. Those tights, spiked shoulder pads, and winged boots might be fine when you're saving the city or hatching nefarious schemes, but you'll be turning heads for all the wrong reasons if that's what you wear to Pocket D. Plus, those spiked shoulder pads? Total dance floor hazard.
Luckily, the Paragon Market has you covered with the new Pocket D Valentines Pack! This pack contains 14 brand new costume pieces, guaranteed to make you stand out. The Pocket D Valentines Pack also comes with a Pocket D VIP Pass Teleporter, and 2 dance emotes so you can show off your new threads in style! But you'll need to hurry: these fashions are only available until March 6, 2012!

What may have confused people was that the previous week they advertised the Roman pack thusly.

Quote:I never said I didn't think it wasn't possible for the devs to put all that stuff into a new event. What I said was I didn't think it will be a big attraction. And I'm basing that opinion on my observations of player behavior during the zone events I've seen over the past couple years. And I'm putting the majority of these events and the instanced ones and saying the elements are there. To say it's not possible is to say that the individual components couldn't be combined.
Quote:And I've seen how you've responded, Forbin. You've got your opinions, you're entitled to them, I disagree with them and I'm cool with those two things not being reconciled. I'm not going to discuss this with you further because what I personally think and what you personally think are not going to find middle ground. I am really genuinely fighting the urge to take some shots at some of your comments, but I'm not going to do that, because that was never the purpose of this thread, and I see more people offering constructive discussion rather than just trying to disagree.
I think you can respect that, so we'll move on, shall we?

Quote:i doubt it, all they are allowing is free players the ability to join an sg, sg creation is still limited to VIP
Uhm, wasn't asking about creating an SG. I was asking about paying rent at the registrar.
While it makes no difference to me because I sub as well as have Prem/Freem accounts, there are a lot of Prem base owners upset that they can't pay rent in SG's they are the leaders of. -
Quote:Is that even possible? How would characters above and below 40 be able to interact outside of teaming when they can't see what the zone and whatever's going on looks like above and below the level barrier.I would like to see zone wide phasing used on PP based on level. If you are 1-39 you zone in and the park is as it has always been. If you zone in 40-50 the park is clean, children are playing, dogs are running around. There would even be plays in the amphitheater and boats fishing on the lake again.
In the alleys and in the woods where the maze is there would still be crime, for the hero to choose to stop. A place where the heroes have pretty much won. Logging out there would give the "well rested" day job badge.
What you don't know... Is that the Kraken is still sleeping under the lake, and there is a red side SF to wake him up so that he attacks the park. Why wake him up? because the Kraken is a hoarder, and his layer is full of shards and threads.
Under 40 the Kraken spawns as a GM but players over 40 can't participate because the doesn't spawn in what they see unless that SF wakes him.
Or am I misunderstanding something? -
Quote:Nope I won't argue with you about that. That's why I was careful to direct my comments to what was done to AP/GalaxyBut please let's not pretend that the old mission chains (not arcs, arcs have coherent stories with a point...) were any good. I'm sorry, but a chain of Defeat All, Fed-Ex and Hunt missions might have been fine in 2004 but it sure as hell won't cut it these days.
Quote:Praetoria set the bar for mission design and story and it set it damn high. The old stuff did NOT meet that in any way shape or form.
I just hope when/if they do replace the old content they add an equal amount of story lines to what they are removing. -

Actually I never have because I rarely speak at all in the game unless I'm having a conversation via tells with a friend, and the only times I've entered a PvP zone for any length of time was to unlock the badge for the Dimensional Vortex SG Base power source, and I did that by logging in on off peak hours when no one else was in Bloody Bay and used two accounts to farm character kills off in one empty ocean corner of the map. It took me a week to get the badge because I'd log out if other players showed up in the zone looking for a match.

Quote:You are absolutely right about there being an equally obnoxious group of PvEer's, and that's why when you mentioned them earlier I agreed they should be treated the same way as the other jerks.I'd honestly have to disagree with you, Forbin. Neither of us has data to back it up, of course - but I'll say there's a fair amount of *miscategorization* to that.
What do I mean? The following ends up under "PVPers are jerks and I'm not going back," just from what I'm used to from years of other threads:
- Someone being a jerk. Just to get the obvious out of the way. By that I mean going to the level of being insulting - not trash talking or kidding around, but being a real donkey to someone. (For the record, at some points I *loved* finding the loudest of these people - they'd almost always run away when someone told them to put up or shut up and they didn't have people to hide behind.)
- "Playing against people is hard." See also - and yes, I *have* had this shouted at me - "Stand still and let me kill you." Some people REFUSE to deal with the fact that PVPers are not NPC mobs and aren't just going to stand there and go "Hey. Fireball. Cool, have my XP."
- Entitlement issues. You want bad blood, find some hardcore badgers and tell them there's a new badge in the zone. They (not all, but some of the worst - and loudest) will *yell and scream* that you shouldn't attack them. In a PVP zone. Pointing out the absurdity of this just gets more obscenities thrown at you. And some took absolute *joy* in some exploits that would absolutely disrupt the zone mechanics (such as keeping pillboxes locked down or keeping 'mechs tied up in a corner somewhere.) Suggesting they just go back later when someone's not PVPing gets you the same treatment.
- "They took inspirations, they cheat." related to #2.
- "I'm just in for shivans/nukes, they should leave me alone, they didn't so they're jerks." No... that reward is that strong because of the risk of PVP. You're going into a PVP zone. You're warned. You don't have the "right to" the reward, you have the right to *fight for* that reward.
- "They didn't give me a chance." Yeah, well, don't stand there and sightsee. (Seriously... people standing around then complaining they got attacked/killed. In a PVP zone. Then going on long, foul-mouthed tirades against the person who... did what the zone was designed for.)
- "Stalkers blah blah blah blah." Really not worth dignifying, but one of the biggest complaints. Stalkers rely on stealth. There are ways to deal with it that aren't exactly secret, even without specific powersets. Yes, stalkers are sneaking up to kill you. *that's what they're designed to do.* That does not make the player a jerk.
Lot of crossover, but most of the "PVPers are jerks" I see are really... how can I put it nicely... PVPers don't act like fairly stupid PVE mobs and so they're jerks.
As far as language? There's also a big difference in sensitivity to trash talk. There are points I'll report someone, sure - going on some four-letter-word tirade about someone defeating (or not) you and calling them every racist or homophobic slur in the book? Yep, /petition. But... well, for instance, I had my energy/energy brute in Siren's, quite typically. (It was fun.) I got cussed out as a "*(&#*&$# Stalker" a time or two, which I found amusing, not insulting. And I would have people *repeatedly* try to TP Foe me - I think one time I counted over 20 attempts by the same group, and yes, I'd make it a point to taunt them about it (trying to TP me into a group.) Was that insulting? Someone might think so. Others - especially when I pointed out, in broadcast, that energy (at the time) had TP Foe protection - would just laugh along with me at the ridiculousness of them *continuing to try* multiple times afterward.
Some - I believe Samuel_Tow is one of them, if I'm remembering his previous comments right - have almost zero tolerance for anything not birds blooming and flowers chirping between players. But you don't know that from one player to another - and heck, I'm sure some of the semi-RP backtalk between me and others who full well KNEW it was in fun (I had a stalker my PB regularly ran into for a while) would probably have someone running out saying "PVPers are mean." (Nothing foul, but definite 'put downs' that were perfectly in character.)
TLDR version - I take a lot of the "PVPers are jerks" with several grains of salt.
And by jerks I'm not referring to legitimate trash talking, but the offensive topics (We booted and petitioned one self proclaimed pvp expert from our SG that went out of his way to offend people by talking about how he tortured a cat), vulgarity, and racial/homophobic slurs that shouldn't be tolerated anywhere in any game.
