Quote:Yeah being offered a free gift to use in a video game is a terrible thing. Curse the devs for being black hearted villains.Unless of course the shared pain is something you disagree with...then its a terrible thing to even bring up and the poster should be drawn and quartered...
Amazing how you spin things.
Oh and where exactly did I imply any sort of physical harm should befall people that don't like Freebie Fridays? Please quote it.
The only spin being put on this feature is being done by the ones that don't like how Freebie Friday work.
People are free to believe whatever they like and post about it. Just don't expect the rest of us to keep a straight face. -
Quote:I never said the idea was any better or worse than what the devs already think of it. All I have done in this thread is notice it's being suggested again, and repeat what the devs have told us are their reasons for not adding this as a feature. And it is still just as valid and as good an idea as it was last Friday and the preceding three hundred and seventy five Fridays since it first came up.
So far I've kept my own opinion on the topic to myself.

Quote:Uhm, That's exactly why I want it. We're getting the new stealth pussycat vanity travel power, so I wanna be able to select a target, shoot bananas out my nose at them and fly away while laughing maniacally.Only if you have to shoot bananas out your nose whenever you activate it.
(Panthers are pussycats. Big pussycats but still pussycats) -
Quote:At the pummit, they said they would be starting this, that they'd put a item ont he market for a day that would be free.
We got, what, 2 days notice? Yeah, it's a kind of hype-y PR piece, but I don't see the build-up.
Well Zwill did say in his announcement that this was a test of a pilot program. It makes perfect sense that you aren't going to blow a test out of proportion nor give away anything uber-awesome.
You are going to save that for the actual launch of the feature, and hype that up. -

Quote:This is also true to some extent, Some places/people rarely get nutters while others are nutter magnets. (see Psychoti for example)Eesh. I've seen your horror stories. Not all retail is like that, but I imagine that your sort of business gets more crazies than most.
Quote:Though honestly, now I'm realizing that there's no way I'd want to read the developers' inboxes. With the kind of crazy pancakes that get openly posted on the forum, I'm wondering how much insanity goes straight into PMs? Anonymity is a terrible, terrible privilege sometimes. -

Quote:A blatant lie? Hardly. Maybe too general in the time frame, but if we're going to be that specific then the truth is, it happens many times every second. Too often for me to guesstimate. And I'm basing that opinion on my years of experience working CS in various call centers. It's also a blatant lie.
I WISH it was only daily, and not hourly... -
Quote:I see a lot more, in life in general everywhere, of the people who complain about complainers like some old man saying: "in my day we got nothin' and liked it you young hooligans /shakecaneshakily".
And honestly, you're the ones blowing it out of proportion and making it sound like we're protesting inside the NCSoft offices when I made exactly 3 posts on this entire topic and only in this thread.
I just said my piece and promptly went about my business, while you have to come back and complain complain complain about "imaginary anger".
You just invent a reason to complain, which is much worse than just a simple "this is disappointing" post.
Hell, I just complained about you complaining.LOL
That's it for me on this topic. Either they give a bit better thing next time or we don't even bother checking after a month of "next to nothing".
Game developers never learn. You can't give too good of an incentive or too little because players will tire of both and end up pushed farther away from whatever the developers want them interested in than they were before the incentive was added.
They need to give something a little better than "a single one of their cheapest and most unfulfilling consumables", but not something too good.
(Edit: How does Firefox not know that "unfulfilling" is a word when it knows of "unfulfilled"?)
Another hilarious post from the complaints department Notice how this one tries to paint other people as the bad guys, Denying that he's complaining while still making a complaint and turning a general observation into a personal attack?
Too funny. -
Can I have a new vanity travel power that lets me do this?

Quote:The devs have told us that the amount of work required would be a lot but it could be done if they wanted to do it. But they don't want to do it because they don't want players doing regular respecs for the "optimal" build or flavors of the week. They have also explained that such repecs invalidate all the work they have done to make this an alt friendly game.i actually remember it being partially due to technical reasons, i believe when this was brought up a year or 2 ago it was stated it prolly wouldnt happen because it would require an immense amount of work because our powersets are essentially hardcoded with character creation so allowing us to change it would require an infeasable amount of work along with the balance reasons you mentioned

Quote:Thor's not hard to kill if you use the right weapon and don't care about the collateral damage. Actually the method I'm thinking of would eliminate all of the Avengers.Hmmm, Terminators sent back to stop Banner from ever even becoming a scientist, Stark from ever being born and Thor... Well, ok that one could be tricky.
But then again, Terminators are really crappy at fulfilling such missions so I have to go with the Avengers due to Terminator incompetance if nothing else...
Skynet simply ends back a few hundred Terminator's that have been designed with internal ADM's (Atomic Demolitions) and programmed to go off as soon as they get within killzone range of their targets. There's no reason for Skynet to announce hostilities for a stand up fight. Just quietly and peacefully approach the targets and BOOM as soon as they are in range of ground zero. -
Quote:With all due respect, it's not just Electric Mastery. When Loki sent the golem to kill him in the first movie he created a controlled tornado to suck it up into the air and he fried the flying whale thing with storm summoned lightning in the Avengers. He may prefer smashy being raised in a warrior culture like Asgard, but his storm powers are no weak sister APP set.Eh, I'd consider his storm bit to be an APP style thing, Electrical Mastery if that was available to tanks. His main thing is smashy and taking the hits.
It would be much easier to create Thor in the AE as an NPC rather than as a PC.
Or as a dev. I've seen a couple of their characters builds at events in game and they can have every power set all at once if the want. -
Go work customer service for a while It's not a preview of the future, this type of "customer" behavior is a daily occurrence.
-
Thor's a little hard to place only because his Storm Summoning powers are just as powerful if not superior to his Tank powers.

Quote:My comment was intended to include all posts I've read on the forums rather than single anyone in particular out, but if I had to choose one as an example of what I meant it would be this one.In review of this case we have a thread that's a complaint not really about the free item itself, but rather the build up to it and manner of distribution. The response to which has been some rather incorrect (and occasionally half-joking) assertions that free is always good, along with some folks pointing out that free isn't always good (in a likewise half-joking fashion). It doesn't look like a whole lot of real mental gymnastics or genuine naivete is involved.
Quote:It was a slap in the face to me as a 7 year VIP customer that has dumped alot of money into the game to get a free item I have no use for. -

I just love watching the Olympic grade mental gymnastics some people go thru to justify complaining about being offered stuff for free.
