Quote:Let's also not forget that Hollywood now thinks movies can make more money if there is less competition in the theaters. At least one movie had it's release date pushed back this year because of the Avengers popularity.and the amazing thing is that all these movies came out between May and August of '82! Why does Hollywood have such a hang up with releasing quality movies like they used to? Oh yeah....they have run out of ideas....I am still waiting for Hollywood to do a full on remake of "Gone With The Wind".... That will truly be the end of Hollywood....

Quote:I recall Bats also fought the Xeno'sHeck Batman fought the Predators in comics. So did Superman. Lets make that cannon.
Yes that's xeno from the Joker
And Green Lantern
Judge Dredd ...
WildCats...
Witchblade ...
The Terminator ...
Even the Buffy comic, sort of.
Of course the first crossover I remember was X-Men vs the Brood.

Quote:I only intended to point out that the obnoxious behavior isn't limited to the faction trying to flaunt their PvP epeens. There's also a small but vocal group of PvEer's that are just as obnoxious. Also irritating, but I wouldn't call those people a reason why I don't PvP.
On the rare occasions I venture into a PvP zone, I'm fully aware that I'm fair game, whether I'm "there to PvP" or not. And I would never complain about it in chat; that's like walking around New York City gazing straight up at all the buildings muttering, "they're so huge..." over and over. You might as well have a big sign over your head that says "SOFT TARGET." If anything, it's going to make people want to come after you more, not less. -
Oh yes I can, and I feel no shame or regret doing it. There is nothing in those zones that a PvE player absolutely must have in order to play the game. If there was something they needed that made the game unplayable without, it would be a different story.

Nothing is going to be done. Base raiding has been scrapped ever since the pathing restrictions that allowed it to work were disabled and players have gleefully designed bases that prevent base raiding from ever functioning in their bases if it was ever reactivated. That was back in I13 wasn't it?

Quote:Let's not forget the flipside of that group. You know the morons that enter PvP zones and then have the unmitigated gall to get upset and cuss, moan, complain, and make threats about how they are supposed to be left alone because they aren't there to PvP. They only came for the badges, temp powers, whatever.I don't like the "culture" that goes along with PvP (again, in any game, not this one specifically). As little interest as I have in fighting other players, I have even less interest in having a fourteen-year-old pelt me with racial (and other) slurs and otherwise tell me how much I suck because he got the drop on me. Nor am I interested in hearing about how any sound smart tactic I might employ to get the drop on him is "cheap." Because it seems they all are, except when he's using them.

Quote:The only "good" is purely subjective. People that value badges wouldn't "lose" the character only badges (like the anniversary event badges) they unlocked. Please explain how this would be good with more powersets.
That's it. There is no other good that comes with it.
It's far more inexpensive to simply create a new alt by buying (if you have to) another character slot, than it is to buy all the stuff you'd need to strip a character before changing power sets.
For example I have 103 slots (includes the vet reward sprints) on a regular level 50 that hasn't run any incarnate content. For a person that hasn't purchased any extra enhancement trays, that's 9 respecs ($90 bucks) plus whatever god awful expensive price on the Power Set Respec they'd have to buy just to strip all the enhancements off of 1 build.
That's 19 respecs + the power set respec for people using two builds and 29 respecs + the power set respec for people using 3 builds.
Even if they buy all the extra enhancement trays they'd still be burning 3 regular respecs + the power set respec for the first build and an additional 4 respecs for each of the additional builds.
Then we have to consider that power sets don't use the same enhancements. A lot of the stuff you use on an Storm Summoning Mind Controller isn't going to be usable on Empathy Earth Controller. Anyone making use of store bought IO's pretty much has to throw those enhancements away if they dont have another character to use them on.
So spend all that money every time you want to change a power set, or $6 bucks to unlock an extra character slot ($20 for 5).
But if there are people that have that much money laying around burning a hole in their pockets, they can put it all on a VISA gift card and mail it to me. -

Quote:Doesn't matter if it was an accident or deliberate, and we have no reason to believe the Predator race didn't have some sort of contact with the Engineers, either by direct association or by accidental discovery.Prometheus makes it look like it was an accident. I don't see how the Predators would have come up with the exact same life form to use on humans, especially since we have no reason to believe they ever had contact with Engineers.
It is not hard to believe that one party would claim to be the inventor/creator of something another party discovered/created. After all isn't that what Weylund's been doing all along? Stealing alien secrets and developing them as their own inventions. -
Pffft. Learning the Market and using alignment merits. If I'm desperate for Prestige I'll just buy a few Super Packs, sell the ATO's I get at 1 inf a piece, and convert the hundreds of millions I get from that to Prestige.

Quote:Yeah cuz no one ever has taken advantage of someone elses discovery, creation, whatever you want to call it and used it for their own purposes. In the first AvP, we learn that Predators used to breed Aliens from ancient human civilizations for sporting purposes. If Aliens just came about because of Kraken-facehugger implanting the Engineer, then that obviously couldn't have happened.

Quote:Supergroup Transfers (Including bases)
This is something we anticipated and are actively working on, but it likely wont be ready for City of Heroes Freedoms launch. We are committing to bringing you this service in the future and it wont be just to the VIP server, it will be between any server. It will likely require the Supergroups Super Leader to actually execute the transfer.
This was taken from a post by Positron dated 6-23-11. I guess sometimes people don't blow things out of proportion. All the same, nothing ever came of it obviously.Quote:Wrong (again). Found it. Positron 6/23/2011:

Quote:I believe it was in a Ustream in 2011, and what was said was that it could technically be done, but it would take an extreme amount of time and resources to accomplish. It would also be incredibly expensive if it was sold on the market. No, you misunderstand.
The Devs have said (At least I'm about 90% sure they were referring to this) that, as well as being an absolute pain code wise, they Do Not Want to give this to players.
They want people to roll alts. Or re-roll. Or just stick with the character. They chose not to do it (for both reasons). End of.
But ultimately it wasn't on the development table because it undermines all the work they put into making the game alt friendly over the past 8 years. -
Quote:Probably a player asking for it.
Because bases are a shared resource.
Ya gotta love the forums Hyper. A dev posts he had bacon and eggs for breakfast and someone interprets it to mean the devs are creating an open world PvP feature, adding power set respecs, customizable vehicles, and level bumps up to 50.The rumors spread and the end result is nowhere close to the original dev post.

Quote:I vaguely remember a mention about transferring bases to the VIP server just before
it went live, but nothing ever happened with it.
Quote:Quote:Figure out a way for me to take my SG/VG bases with me and I will be... well, somewhat less disappointed by all this.
(some time passes as other people post)
If SG/VG base transfers aren't possible, I have an idea - figure out a way to allow a one-way transfer of earned Prestige to go with any character transferred to the VIP server. We'd have to rebuild our bases, which would really stink for a lot of folks, but it would stink less than have to do so as well as start over at 0 prestige...
That's all that was said by the devs on the topic of base transfers. -
Quote:Bwahahahahaha!I like it. It would force the PVP issue to get a serious turn around, which will likely never happen otherwise, but I do think it's silly for powerful heroes to be physically unable to travel to the Rogue Isles (and vice versa).
I don't think so.
Quote:
It's far more likely they'd remove PvP altogether before they'd allow open world PvP in this game. The devs know which faction of the player base (the PvEers) pays the bills. The best you could hope for is that they would leave the PvP zones as is. -

Quote:Not against the open world thing but Bill nailed all my issues with the idea.I'm... eh. Not really *for* just an overall sharing. (And frankly I think the "Arachnos in Atlas" bit is ridiculous. Same with Faultline, but at least there's *some* explanation for a *small* presence by the water.)
The Isles are frankly more ridiculous... "Hey, not only is there a paramilitary organization wandering around Mercy, but they've managed to *fortify* an island inside a soverign nation they weren't invited to!" Really? Hell, why aren't they rounding up *anyone* with a beef against the US and trumpeting what's essentially an invasion, then kicking Longbow out?
That said, there are some areas it would make sense to expand into... I'm not sure I'd say "co-op" but "shared" zones, since co-op implies some degree of shared goals. Crey's Folly is really the one that (to me) makes the most sense, since it's *right against* the Rikti War Zone (used to get to the Crash Site through it.)
The Shard and, I suppose, Striga would also be on that (fairly short) list, to me. Anything else that sends your character into the other side's world... honestly, I'm fine with instancing.
Start getting into a wholly shared (instead of segregated) world, and one of the next questions is "well, why don't we have full world PVP? I wouldn't let that hero/villain just walk around." (For instance.)
... so call it "limited support" from me.
