Quote:Hey Nal, aren't you glad we have Psi Cops like Mister Bester there on the forums that can tell you what actually meant to say despite your explaining otherwise. Why don't you go ahead and tell me where exactly I said we owned our characters.
I'm not talking about ownership. I'm talking about something already being registered in a system that does not allow repeats.

Quote:I disagree Neko. I believe the only way his analogy could be in any way accurate would be if the pro-unique naming faction actually believed the devs were going to change the naming policy.Mislabeled? No, that's actually what it is.
My character names ARE mine, and NO, you CAN'T have them.
For example when the devs announced the server lists being merged and the EU players were told that their global names were going to be changed if there was an NA player that was using it.
So their understandable anger could be mislabeled by someone that wanted their global name for themselves.
Without any "threat" that we might lose our unique names we have no reason to behave in the fashion that was portrayed in his analogy. This is why the pro change side of the discussion always resorts to playing the victim and accusations of name calling.
Remember the person you responded to revealed his defensive, dismissive, and one could say hostile agenda clear in his first post when he made this accusation
Quote:I agree with you. But you're going to get a number of responses:
i) You suck at naming (and I am awesome at naming), so the naming system is perfect.
Quote:One more thing: Before this goes any further, can we please pledge to break the cycle of how these threads usually go?
A: "I think that we should have a more open naming system."
B: "You suck."
A: "No, I just think that with the age of the game, we should take into account that the perfect name is no longer sitting out there."
B: "That's because you're stupid, unimaginative, and you suck."
When these guys can't discus their point of view on it's merits they always try to derail the threads with their verbal shenanigans. -
Quote:I believe Romana has established that Time Lords can regen into other species as well, cuz some of the bodies she tried out appeared to be more humanoid than human. It's established that some Time Lords have far more control over regeneration than others. Romana could select her appearance at will. The Master's backstory suggests he used regeneration as a disguise, and he deliberately chooses a younger (John Simm) appearance to parallel the 10th Doctor.

Foresaken Death If I follow the instructions, but I get Satan's Henchmen if I reverse my initials.

Quote:Unfortunately the game can't determine a players intent when choosing a name, and far too often assuming the worst about censoring certain words turns out to be the right thing to do.The game itself acts like a censor. I wanted to name my three MM thug pets as Tom, Dick and Harry. It would let me name Tom and Harry but not Dick - even though Dick was only a shortened version of Richard, in this instance. (Any Tom, Dick or Harry used to be a favourite expression of my mum's). So I guess Dick is one of the censored words in the game.

Quote:You sure about that Iron? I highlighted the part in green where the devs mention a random free item woul be given away, and where they said the selection of the item wasn't automated. It wasn't. And no one ever said it was. Well, the devs never said it was. Random internet crazy people may have said so.

Oh and Hit Streak was the one that explained that they weren't relying on an automated feature to pick a random item.

Because the skins have to match up with the existing MM skeleton for that particular power set and use the exact same animations for powers. Otherwise we will see powers going off in the wrong locations, and bodies that don't fit the skeletons they are on.
-
Tough. Walk was created by one dev on his own time specifically for role players that wanted to be able to walk around and RP when they weren't fighting.

Anything that will have to be purchased from the store when it goes live, has to be unlocked thru the Beta server market interface on the Beta server.
And no, unlocking it on the Beta server will not mean you get it for free when it goes live if that was your next question. We don't get charged real money when we unlock things on the Beta server market interface. It's just testing to make sure the market interface is working properly when a new item is added to the market before going live. -
Quote:Not sure what you mean by that. They explained from the beginning that the random element wasn't an automated feature. A human being was at Paragon Studios was making the random selection each week. That was a (felt like atleast) short pilot program. If it really was random, then Loki must have been rolling the dice each time.
All they needed to test was whether or not people were able to claim whatever was marked as free each week, and check to see if people were claiming it at all. -

Okay apparantly this movie is so bad my computer won't play the trailer after 30 seconds, so I am definitely seeing this movie.

Quote:Not gonna happen.Yep I want to be a Pitbull name Buddy and have a sidekick Chiwawa name Taco
1. The devs would have to recode every single power in the game so it worked with an animal skeleton.
2. Many powers simply won't work on an animal skeleton. A pit bull can't swing a sword, shoot a gun, etc.
It's possible the devs could create a shape shifting power set that has a couple of powers that turns a character into a four legged animal, but there won't be a wide selection of skins to choose from, an there will most likely be power sets that cannot be used in conjunction with it. For example if you take Shields you can't take Dual Blades, Titan Weapons, etc. -
Quote:I think this is the most amusing post in the thread because the pro-change faction hasn't been able live up to that ideal in this thread or in any other thread on this topic. It's a pity, I asked upthread if we could have just one of these conversations without the pro-status-quo side resorting to attacks. Apparently, it *is* too much to ask.
Just another example of them demanding that we do as they say and not as they do. -
Quote:Sorry but Green Lantern isn't an individual name it's a job title, like Detective, Senator, Governer, Fire Marshal, Federal Agent, etc.Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, John Stewart, Kyle Rayner. All known as Green Lantern, all on one world.
Quote:Jay Garrick, Barry Allen and/or Wally West and/or Bart Allen (At leastBarry and Wally together at the same time), all known simply as Flash, all on one world.
Quote:Bruce Wayne, Richard Grayson. Both known at the same time as Batman.
Quote:The Eradicator, Hank Henshaw, Conner Kent (at the very beginning), all calling themself Superman at the same time.
And that's just core Justice Leaguers. -
Quote:Unlocking the Rularuu WeaponsDo Rulu-Shin count towards the unlock on the weapons? I'd run that part of the Sig daily for an easier way to unlock the Rulu weapons redside.
There are five possible ways to unlock the Rularuu weapon models. Doing any one of the following will unlock the Rularuu weapons:- Get the Visionary Badge for defeating 100 Overseer bosses (Heroes and Villains)
- Obtain the badge or souvenir from any Shadow Shard task force (Heroes only)
- Complete Technician Naylor's level 35-40 arc "Last Stand on Mole Point Bravo" (Villains only)
- Complete Scirocco's level 40-45 arc "The Hammer of the World" (Villains only)
- Complete Efficiency Expert Pither's level 45-50 arc "Alone in the Darque" (Villains only)

Slightly off topic. I just noticed the new posters at the movie thaeters and I love them.
-
If you think that a person who chooses to use unique names means that you don't have common ground to discuss the naming conventions with that person, then your dismissive attitude negates any value your opinion on the subject has and can be dismissed as easily as you dismiss others.

I want more tattoos, as well as controls that allow me to control their size, place them anywhere on the body, and rotate them.
-
Once again I remind you that 80% of English language are words taken from other languages. The concept of a purely English name is a fallacy.

Quote:I don't mind a system that allows duplicate names IF the person who had the name first sees no alteration of THEIR name.
In other words (not that I think anyone would choose my name but using it as an example)
My main toon is: I Burnt The Toast
If someone else came along and wanted that name I think their name should appear as:
@Global:I Burnt The Toast
If this were the system.. I would make damn sure I never had a name that had @Global:Name because frankly I think that looks about as stupid as it comes
If a new naming system came that made all my current toons have @Global:Name even though I chose the name first... I would be a lil upset. I personally think such naming systems are stupid looking and take away more from the individualization of the game than anything. But hey if Joe Schmoe is happy with @Global:Mecha Man then so be it.
I truly am tired of all these "name" threads though...and wish they would just go away. I see people create toons on a daily basis with some very cool names and a lot of the time I think to myself "Wow... I am surprised no one had that name before...."
I'm not saying people who support new naming procedures are lazy or unimaginative, but I just hope IF something ever happens to allow more "diverse" names that it does not affect me and my already unique names. I take great pride in my names...and if a new policy were to come along that butchered them ala putting @Global in front of them... I'm not sure if that would be the final nail in the coffin for me, but I do know it would push me away from this game.
Only problem with that is it would open a new thing for GM's to police for coppyright violations.
Can't get your favorite comic super hero name? make it your global and pick a character name that's in use.
So, sorry but I'm against this idea because it would cause more headaches for the GM's.
