Well I for one didn't think you were being serious but I've learned not to be surprised at the way some people feel entitled to things or the arguments they use to justify their desires.

So while you were making a joke, there is more truth in what you said than you'd think.

The reason it came up for me is that the leadership in supergroups I've seen have actually been pretty inactive but middle and lower ranks couldn't pay rent, so there was no way to actually turn power back on until leadership transfers to someone who could pay. Seemed like a bad design to me in supergroup hierarchy. Paragon didn't choose it, the group itself did.

I do appreciate the rent free base building tips though. I believe that will be useful to a number of people who find this thread.

Also appreciate the responses as to why SG's would limit who could hit the pay rent button. I'd argue if you will be active enough to micromanage it, that system works, but once leadership isn't paying attention anymore, then it hinders the group.

    I do see
SG management has it's downsides. Some leaders are control freaks, some leaders have been burned in the past and are skittish about getting burned again, and some leaders are just unreliable. Then there are people you can always count on.

I inherited an SG/base going on 4 years ago and I still have players on the roster from when it was active. They still show up every once in a while and the bae is still there for them to use. The roster has dwindled doiwn to 12 members 8 of whom haven't logged on in 367 days. But I keep the lights on and the rent paid anyway.

Of course I must admit if the devs ever add a feature that lets us transfer an SG/base to another server, I'll be putting a lot of thought into clearing out the roster and moving to another server.

Anniversary badges: I don't think these should be able to be "earned." There's nothing to earn them WITH - it shows your account was active at a certain time. HOWEVER:

    - I wouldn't mind them being account-wide. So you were in COH, but didn't have COV/it didn't exist yet, and your main badger is your villain? It's an account indicator. Give it to every character on that account, so your villain on the account you had at launch gets it.

    - The gladiator (yeah, I know, nobody uses them...) gets awarded for two consecutive anniversary badges.

Things like Efficiency Expert? I happen to *love* that sort of thing, quite honestly. And I think there should be more of them. (I've mentioned in the past things like "prevented X fir Bolg from escaping" - get whatever it is from your first attempt.) Especially with most badges meaning nothing. Yes, I do have sympathy for those who lose connection and whatnot - I'm in the middle of storm season and have lost power on occasion, sometimes for a few hours. If there were an alternative - and I *am* on the fence about this - it should be visible. "Efficiency expert" - you did it the first time, great. If you have to ouro it, "Not so Efficient." And you can't lose the first, even if you ouro and lose connection or fail while doing that.

I'm not sure what you'd even do for an "alternative arc" to earn Passport. It wasn't just hopping servers, it was transferring from the US to EU servers (which is, of course, impossible now.) That, IMHO, should stay just as it is. There are some things that just "are."

    /Everything that Bill said.

No problem. No harm no foul. Thanks for taking the time to clarify what you meant.

That being said...you are using an outdated argument. This was the whole reason I brought up the DFB and AE missions. The game is already set up with ways to keep players within one zone.
No it isn't. If that were true there wouldn't be AE buildings all over the other zones, nor would we be able to form a DfB in any zone we liked. We'd be forced to go to a specific contact.

People gather in Atlas Park because it is the player established social zone and has been for 8 years. The devs did nothing to entice and keep players in the zone.

People have fun grinding DFBs...grinding AE...running radios...running story arcs...teaming...soloing. This suggestion opens up so much more of the game world for people.
Actually it does the opposite. Implementing this allows players to delude themselves into thinking Atlas Park is all there is to the game. That in turn curtails their freedom from experiencing all the various content that cannot be encountered from Atlas Park.

We have already witnessed what happens when new players think that Atlas Park is the only zone in the game shortly after the AE went live and new players cancelled their subs after getting bored of grinding AE missions, and again with DfB trials never realizing there was more to the game than Atlas Park.

The other two power sets are also "real things" as they are also being tested on the Beta server at this time just like Water Blast.

They will all go live when the devs are ready to release them. Not sooner.

That's been explained by several people with different opinions. Your refusal to acknowledge or inability to comprehend those explanations isn't our problem.

I mean...we have a DFB trial that potentially keeps players out of Atlas Park...and not to mention AE.
I don't know what game/server you've been playing but Atlas Park is the zone heroside where most players that want to run AE misions and DfB's gather. You can always find high level characters looking for those teams in AP.

You're using a very outdated argument to go against something that, I believe, would bring life to other zones.
No I'm not, you are living in denial. I personally have encountered several players that had no idea there was more to the game than Atlas Park. One of whom was a running a 40+ level Kheldian Warshade.

    "this is just an idea!!!!!!"

All if you forgot this already. It's just an idea so i don't have all the answers!!!!.
I just want the devs to read my idea.
But you haven't suggested a powerset or an archetype. All you've done is repeatedly say you want an abstract concept, and mentioned some costume/skeleton concepts that could be added to the costume creator with a lot of work.

The devs aren't mind readers and if you don't make an effort to explain how you visualize this "idea" working, they won't know what you want or even if the game engine would support it.

The following is an example of power set suggestion.

Author’s Notes: I always wanted this set after getting my 1st scrapper to 30. When I first thought of the set, I was thinking ‘Psylocke’ but after really putting thought and imagination into the set, I was getting a sort of ‘Green Lantern’/ ‘Necrid’ vibe because it would make different weapons with psychic energy. The draw animation would have to be nullified and only last for the instance of the attack.

    1. Psyblade- Wraps a blade of psychic energy around your hand for the instance of the attack and slashes at a single opponent. This attack does a combination of psychic damage and lethal damage. Has a chance to slow enemy movement speed and recharge.

    2. Mental Blade Strike- Creates a katana of psychic energy and slices twice at the enemy. Same animation as Gambler’s Cut. This attack does a combination of psychic and lethal damage, no additional effects.

    3. Telekinetic Spike- Creates a large spike in front of you that hits at a slightly longer range and hits a few in a cone area (maximum of 3). This attack does a combination of psychic and lethal damage. Has a chance to slow enemy movement speed and recharge.

    4. Concentrate- Increases accuracy to near perfection and greatly boosts the psychic part of your attacks and increases additional effects.

    5. Mind Probe- A taunt.

    6. Mental Trap- Your character crouches down and puts both hands to the ground and a bear trap clamps around the target’s feet(maybe all in a small AoE?). This ranged attack does only psychic damage, immobilizes and has a chance to slow enemy movement speed and recharge time.

    7. Psionic Guillotine- Creates an axe of psychic energy and swing at neck level to deal a devastating blow. This attack does a combination of psychic and lethal damage and has a chance to slow enemy movement speed and recharge. Animation would be like Beheader(is that even an attack? I’m using the really old version of the game manual for names and what-not) from the Battle Axe Tanker set.

    8. Piercing Thoughts- You send your thoughts out in a series of painful spines that pierce all around you. This attack does a combination of psychic and lethal damage and has a chance to slow enemy movement speed and recharge. Animation would be either your character crouching down and sends our huge triangular spikes that extend from the character’s body looking like a spikeball/porcupine OR just use the ugly Spine Burst animation.

    9. Telekinetic Sword Slash- You create a broadsword of psychic energy and strikes your enemy upward, dealing lots of damage. This attack does a combination of psychic and lethal damage. Has a chance to slow enemy movement speed and recharge time as well as knock enemy up. Animation would be like Disembowel .
And this is an example of an archtype suggestion.

    - Primary: Melee

    - Inherent: Power Play
    - Damage: Medium
    - Hit Points: Medium

    - The Wildcard has the tools to effectively play offence or defense whenever necessary in an up-close and personal manner. With his combination of Melee and Buff/DeBuff powers along with his special Power Play ability to boot, this well-rounded archetype is great for teams or playing solo. Although they have more hit points than most classes, Wildcards tend to be lacking in defense.

Called a "Paladin" in other RPGs, this archetype is basically a melee healer, or a cross between a Defender and a Scrapper. The inherent Power Play system works in a similar fashion to that of popular fighting games; dealing and taking damage slowly builds up a power meter that fills to three stocks. These Power Play cards can be used to significantly buff the damage and/or all effects of whatever power or Inspiration is used next (within reason, some high-level powers and large inspirations may have diminished effects to avoid over-powering or, in other words, some nerfing may apply). Base hit points are the same as a Scrapper, although neither power set provides much in the way of personal defenses. Many Buff/Debuff powers’ range have been shortened and/or work at lower levels than their squishier archetype’s counterparts, however, others have been retooled as PBAoEs for the player's benefit (mez protection and such). This makes teamwork and creative use of the Power Play cards a recommended strategy. Wildcards receive basically the same Ancillary and Patron Power Pools as Scrappers.

    Aggressor (Villain/Praetorian)

    - Primary: Assault
    - Secondary: Reinforcement
    - Inherent: Zero In
    - Damage: High
    - Hit Points: Low

    - The Aggressor has one objective: destroy the current target. With a varied assortment of single-target Assault powers, secondary Reinforcement powers to back him up and his Zero In capability, running away won't help anyone in this archetype's cross hairs. Despite being a Jack-of-all-trades that can definitely take care of himself, the Aggressor is still somewhat low on hit points and can easily get himself in over his head if he's not careful.

This archetype uses the Dominator's Assault power set as its primary and pairs it with a somewhat new secondary set, Reinforcement. Just like the Assault power set is an amalgam of the Ranged and similarly themed Melee power sets, this secondary set combines certain powers from the melee classes' Defense sets with similarly themed Blaster Support powers to give shielding and boosts to the player along with some tools to trip up opponents (typically 4 or 5 self +DEF/RES toggles and autos, 2 or 3 self buffs, 1 or 2 mezzes and a nuke). Although Reinforcement provides melee class armors, they tend to function at slightly lower percentages. The Zero In Inherent power works like a Corruptor’s Scourge power, except it raises the Aggressor’s To-Hit chance rather than Critical Hit chance. Base hit points are the same as a Blaster or Stalker (the highest end of what the game considers low hit points). Aggressors receive vaguely the same Ancillary and Patron Power Pools as Dominators to provide more multiple-target powers and mezzes.

    Harbinger (Hero/Praetorian)

    - Primary: Command
    - Secondary: Support
    - Inherent: Loyalty
    - Damage: Medium
    - Hit Points: Low

    - Using concentrated mastery of his powers, the Harbinger uses a helper of his own creation to aid him in battle and deliver justice to his foes. While selflessly protecting his master and obeying his commands, his pet’s abilities can be further augmented throughout this hero’s career. Although the Harbinger wields a variety of attacks and defenses of his own, he is somewhat lacking in hit points and relies heavily on his pet and teammates for protection.

This archetype is can be summed up as a cross between a Mastermind and a Blaster. Unlike Masterminds, Harbingers rely on a single pet (many from the Control sets) and tend to be a bit more active in battle. The pet can be controlled like a Henchman, though due to its toughness and the Harbinger getting down and dirty in battle, it can easily be left to its own devices. Their Primary Command set is arranged much like the Mastermind’s with their pet as a level 1 power and similarly-themed ranged attacks in appropriate slots, with the latter two summons being replaced by appropriate melee attacks taken from the Blaster's Secondary Support set, which themselves are replaced by Buff/DeBuff powers. The Loyalty inherent power grants your pet a damage and to-hit boost if your health falls below 25%, plus you have a damage and to-hit boost yourself any time your pet is within a 60' radius of you and maintains line-of-sight. Harbingers have the same hit points as Corruptors, their personal base damage output is about Defender level and they receive the same Ancillary and Patron Power Pools as Blasters.

    Command Power Sets

    Clone Command (with Dual Pistols)
    Dark Command
    Earth Command
    Electricity Command
    Energy Command
    Fire Command
    Ice Command
    Technology Command
    Psychic Command

    Support Power Sets

    Dark Manipulation (New)
    Devices
    Earth Manipulation (New)
    Electricity Manipulation
    Energy Manipulation
    Fire Manipulation
    Ice Manipulation
    Mental Manipulation

    Saboteur (Villain/Praetorian)

    - Primary: Buff/Debuff
    - Secondary: Ranged Support
    - Inherent: Critical Effect
    - Damage: Medium
    - Hit Points: Low

    - The Saboteur’s biggest delight is to be as annoying to his enemies as possible. Although his wide assortment of tricks, traps, and ranged attacks can make him a valuable asset to any team, his team will in turn need to protect him from the resulting ire of their enemies.

With its combination of buff/debuff powers and the newish Ranged Support secondary set (an amalgamation of Ranged and Control attacks, making it a Dominator’s “Greatest Hits” set), this archetype mirrors the team-friendliness of the Hero’s Controller and Defender and is more or less a combination of the two, also echoing their hit points and high-level Power Pools. The inherent Critical Effect ability works much like a Scrapper's, except instead of double damage, the result is a decent buff to whatever secondary effect the attack may cause, such as a longer Hold or Disorient, further Knockback, or higher percentage debuffs.

You'll have to go to MMORPG.com to find out. They are the ones holding the contest, not NCSoft/Paragon Studios.

Congratulations! Your suggestion has been implemented. There are already two AT's that allow Shapeshifting. Warshades and Peacekeepers. Now you can revel in paroxysms of joy as you shapeshift into a squid or a lobster.

  13. Oh and /unsigned.

The current system not only gets new players using radio/newspaper missions to navigate to different zones it also help teach them what landmarks are in the zones and where to find various NPC groups.

Okay so they used a poor choice of words. Big deal. All they have to do there is change it to something like, "The police have everything under control here, Report to Detective (insert name) in (insert zone). He needs your help, so you're being transferred to his Precinct."

And that solves your problem with the phraseology.
  15. What could draw me into a PvP zone?

The infrequent desire to unlock an SG badge in order to get a piece of equipment I want to add to a particular base.

Fixed that for ya. Since the rent overhaul it takes maybe 3-4 missions to earn enough prestige to pay rent.

These days the biggest prestige loss occurs when an SG roster is under 15 members and a character is booted or quits. -20k prestige.

It's not silly from the companies point of view.

First off the devs want to discourage people from making solo SG's and
using them for extra storage. They have frequently stated that SG's are intended to be multi-player content.

Second there's the financial reasons for the restriction.

SG bases allow players the ability to store up to 540 pieces of Salvage, or 1,800 Enhancements, or 1,800 Inspirations, or a lesser combination of all three.

Now what Free/Premium player is going to buy extra storage from the Paragon Store if they can get hundreds/thousands of storage slots for free just by making a solo SG/base?

So the devs restrict Free/Prems from paying rent so they have to choose. Do they buy extra storage from the Paragon Store or do they subscribe and get extra storage with bases.

But wait, there's more to the story. The devs, out of the kindness of their hearts, decided to make this offer to the nonsubscribers. If you don't sub, and you want to use base storage, they are willing to grant you access if you use the SG/Base as it was intended by inviting a single VIP into your SG and use it as group content.

However if a person choose to be an anti-social cheapskate, he can go spit in the wind and pay for his extra storage.

Oh an by the way you do realize that it's very easy to build a base that doesn't pay any rent right? These are the only items that incur a rental fee. If you don't have them in your base when rent's due you don't get charged rent.

Storage Items (per bin) - You only need these if you want extra storage
    100 prestige

Auto-Doc / Tree of Wonders - You can buy insp and sell stuff at the NPC store's
    100 prestige

Combat Logs / Contemplation Charts - You can buy insp at npc stores
    100 prestige

Robo-Surgery / Spirit Signal - You res to full hp/end by hitting the hospital
    100 prestige

Advanced Worktable / Advanced Forge - you can use this then delete it and never incur rent
    100 prestige

Expert Worktable / Expert Forge - you can use this then delete it and never incur rent
    100 prestige

Robotic Fabricator / Flames of Hephaestus - Base raids are disabled so you don't need this
    100 prestige

I've been playing 8 years and I have never used the buffs from any of the three following items so you don't "need" any of them either.

    Radiation Emulator / Enchanting Crucible
    100 prestige

    Linear Accelerator / Arcane Crucible
    200 prestige

    Supercollider / Mystic Crucible
    300 prestige

So it isn't hard to craft a base with Teleporter access to all the beacons, and have a functional medbay without ever paying a single point of prestige for rent.

I would also like to have at least a 2 bill inf storage added to the vault (Guild Wars storage can also store gold), so if I need inf on a character I don't have to switch to another and mail it.
If the devs did give us a global vault I could see them allowing more storage potential than the current vault contains is by selling extra slots in the store.

There would probably be some other restrictions based on account type as well.

One way would be to give everyone the same basic vault with absolute minimum storage, and sell storage expansions.

They may choose to exclude Free accounts from having Global Vault access until they upgrade to Premium accounts.

Another possibility from looking at how they restrict Premium accounts access to making solo SG's for storage, they may restrict Global Vault access to VIP accounts.

It's also possible they could add unlocks to the Paragon Rewards table which would allow Prems to access the Global Vault, and get more storage as they aquire more rewards, much like how the Inf cap increases as one rises up the tier ladder and eventually allowing Prems who have unlocked the upper tiers to use the Global Vault without having to subscribe.

Never underestimate the greed and stupidity of some people.

I can easily see some dishonest persons using the free allotment of points they get with their subscriptions to buy these VIP/PLEX tokens and them selling them for real money to stupid fools. I can even see auctions on ebay where they'll be making bids that are higher than the actual price of the tokens.

And who is going to get blamed and badmouthed when their account is banned for RMT abuse, and/or their CC info is stolen and abused?

The stupid fools won't accept any responsibility (they never do), no instead they'll blame the devs and CoH by claiming their accounts were hacked and they were innocent victims of a criminal and an uncaring corporation.

EDIT: Ok, I think I fixed it and made it look good.
If I'm reading it right I don't think you have much hope of this idea being added to the game.

As to the SG invite issue, keep trying. We all want this, even tho the devs have told us they won't consider it. In fact it was just a few months ago they told us if they ever added a feature that allowed us to send SG invite bu email, they would block us from sending invites to our own characters.

They simply refuse to make it easy for us to make solo SG's. Hopefully we can one day change their minds.
