  1. And what do the villains get as new VEATS to balance this out?

If new Epic AT's are to be introduced the devs should give them to both factions at the same time.

So unless you can suggest 2 additional VEATs i'm gonna have to /unsign this.

    Recipe Storage

    [ QUOTE ]
I have been in modest favor of revising existing salvage storage to allow storage of enhancements and recipes, something like a 1:3:5 set up, where each recipe requires 3 salavge spaces, and each enhancement requires 5 salvage spaces. This gives players flexibility without increasing overall storage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just to be clear, you're referring to vault storage not base storage right?

    Recipe Storage

The devs don't want us storing recipes. Good luck tho.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Ah, thanks for the clarification, I had missed those changes coming in i14... Sounds like an interesting way to sort out the salvage and keep it locked down so that only those you want can get to it... Just seems like, with the storage limitations in place now, that if you lock a few racks down for the upper echelon members, it will get even more frustrating for the regular Joes, trying to find a place to tuck away some of their excess salvage...

And, you know, my list idea didn't need to be summarily shot down... With some clever filtering and such, it could easily be formatted to provide tabs of storage, with individual racks having the new rank assignments, which would give X number of storage slots to specific ranks, and those things in a set rank would only show up in the list for someone of that rank or higher. All without having to resort to creating security zones and extra architecture just to safeguard your precious horde... My whole idea was to eliminate the frustration of everyone having to run around the base, checking every storage rack, just to find somewhere with a slot or 2 open to dump something - or having to run around everywhere to find what you need. It's a rather sloppy method of storage now, and my thought was that a big SG with the means to build a base and maintain it would probably have the means to keep it organized.

So, in a related query, any good news as far as the ridiculously small storage limitations in the base itself? I mean, we have an SG with 50+ members, and only having 18 total storage racks in any size base, with the 30 piece per rack cap put in as of i13, gives like a 10 pieces per member storage capacity... Almost not worth it, when it all gets added up. Are maybe bigger racks or maybe a loosening up of storage component limitations in the bases on the horizon?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The basebuilding community has been asking for this feature since the day bases were put into the game.

The added security from being able to wall off portions of a base is just a side benefit. The base builders have also been asking for the ability to make apartments for their characters. We'd rather they be seperate from the bases but until we get apartments (if we ever do) each person with access to the architect can use a part of the base for their personal tastes.

Depending on the room they use they have the option of including their own storage bin. They might design a bar motiff around an enhancement bin. Buried treasure around the arcane inspiration bin.

A smart SG will have a common area where all SG members have storage access of some sort.

Now I think you'd be hard pressed to find a player that wouldn't appreciate an increase in allowed IO salvage, but we'll be extremely lucky if we ever see that happen.
  7. If we had that feature already, I'm looking at it from what happened with the trial account restrictions. We accepted a minor inconvience to be rid of a greater one.

If we already had a global mail system in place I'd have no problem giving it up because we have other methods in place for moving stuff between characters.

However we don't have that feature so what you or I are willing to give up doesn't even apply.

[/ QUOTE ] Thats so thoughtful of you to be willing to give up other people's convienences and luxuries.

    [/ QUOTE ]

He asked. I answered. But it still doesn't change the fact that we aren't giving up anything at this point because the feature doesn't exist in the game.

We can't give up what we don't have.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
The raging paranoia about exploits on this board never ceases to amaze me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It isn't paranoia, We all have seen numerous examples of exploits the devs have nerfed and people then complained loud and long when it got taken away.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
But the bigger point is, how many conveniences and luxaries are we going to sacrifice for the sake of making things harder on the RMTers? These guys aren't going away, we are kidding ourselves if we think they are. They are a part of this game and MMOs in general, I say make the game the players want and stop worrying about a small population of undesirables.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    1. Just like to point out that you can't sacrifice something if you don't already have it. We're not giving up an existing feature that the RMT sites are using.

[/ QUOTE ] Some people use the email system. Optional filters would be a much better way to handle the problem. People could choose who to receive emails from.

    [/ QUOTE ]
To elaborate, our spam problems would be solved if email was changed to only allow messages from friends and SG/coalition members.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I would rather see us get tools to block emails, than get rid of the system entirely. While I may never use emails, I know players that do.
  12. And theres an even bigger difference between wearing RL flags as clothes and an animated character in a video game wearing a countries national colors.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Oooooooooooooooookay.... Now show me people wearing the Russian Flag, the Afghani flag, the Spanish flag, French flag, Union Jack (that'll be easy, I think?) Portugal, Brazil (again easy!) and all the other flags of ... Well let's -just- do the United Nations!

I'm less worried about right wing America chewing hats over it than I am -other- countries screaming and raving.

Technically it would be constructive in informing the OP of a way to get information on this subject themselves instead of rehashing all the same old stuff. Sort of a 'I don't have the time/inclination/etc to hunt it down, but it's there and here are the tools to find it yourself' type deal. With the knowledge that there's already a large thread or 8, it should be easier to find.

    With that being said... /unsigned.

I'm assuming the other threads have better points than I'm about to make, but for me personally... while it would make a lot of things easier for the players, I can also see how it would make things easier for the... you know, RMTers. I support restricting ingame e-mail more than it is now, not giving it more features.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why should actual players have to sacrifice user friendliness and convenience because of a small undesired population? And by the way, the RMTers can transfer their influence and what not just fine so far, all this reasoning does is let the small amount of RMTers ruin it for the rest of us...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because experience has shown us that most players are more than willing to put up with a minor inconvienence if it gets rid of a major inconvienence.

The Trial account restrictions are proof of that. Before we had them RMTer's were running amok abusing the system. The restrictions went into effect and overnight the chat channels fell silent, and the RMT sites could no longer use trial accounts to shuttle funds between accounts.

The doomcriers ranted and raved at the draconian measures. The game was going to die from this. The restrictions were going to let the RMTers ruin it for the rest of us.

Guess what. The games still here. Everyone is still enjoying it. No one wants to return to the bad days prior to the trial account restrictions. The inconvienent restrictions didn't ruin it for the rest of us.

Giving us the tools we need to restrict or block emails entirely will benefit the majority of the customers and only frustrate the RMT sites and the losers that use their services.

No, what got this board moved to this section was the behaviour of Shiverwraith and KittyKrusader

    [/ QUOTE ]

If trading resources is already fairly easy, then there really isn't a need for the devs to waste time on this idea.

They can use their resources on more important issues.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If a number of people want it, then it's an important issue. All QoL features are low-priority. This one is no different. And this response is almost desperate. If it doesn't affect your game, you have no legitimate reason to object. Other than trolling, but then I think half the people who spend time on this board are here to down any idea for the fun of it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just because people want something doesn't mean it should be done.

Some people want to be able to respec out of their powersets.

Some people want to merge the servers.

Some people want the company to sell influence.

Some people want to eliminate PvP altogether.

Some people want to get rid of co-op zones.

None of those things will affect your game. They are all optional features you can choose not to use. So you have no legitimate reason to object, other than trolling.

So if you voice any disagreement with those ideas it's solely because you enjoy downing those ideas for the fun of it.

[/ QUOTE ] Just throwing wanted to point out that a few of the things you mentioned would effect everybody.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually they would all affect a lot of people, the same as a global mail system. I was just trying to illustrate that just because there are people that always ask for it doesn't justify it's implementation, nor does it mean you are trolling if you don't want it implemented.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
I don't care if people like the argument, because I'm tired of people on this board downing basically every idea on the most specious of reasons. It's what got this board banished to the dregs.

As far as I'm concerned, base salvage racks are [u]public[u] storage, and when I put things in the racks I'm putting them there to benefit my fellow SG mates as well as possibly myself later. There is only one major fix for bases, along with a SG fix.

Storage containers now have rank based permissions for each storage container. So each container can be set so specific ranks can add or remove items from that storage container.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The devs are giving us the tools to thwart dishonest players abilities to rob SG's blind.

    1. Now that the pathing restrictions have been removed we can build bases that have security zones that no one can access without base architect permission.

    2. When I14 goes live, we will be able to restrict storage access to certain ranks on an individual (bin) basis. So while everyone may have access to one bin only Rank 5's may have access to the one next to it.

    3. Also when I14 goes live, SG's will have a new rank called Super Leader. Only one player can hold that rank and the player that has it will have total control over everyone else. Promoting the wrong person to a leadership position will no longer be a problem.

The devs obviously have a different opinion on how storage bins should function. If you want unrestricted access to all bins go make your own SG, then you can dictate who has access.

Something I am all for is being able to create Titles or Labels for Storage Racks so that people at a glance could know which rack is designated for what type.

IE - Common Magic Salvage, Training Enhancements, Set Enhancements, etc.

Either a predefined list or preferably the ability to label your own would be awesome.
