What's wrong with rotating the stories they have published? They could easily use 2 arcs for new material and use the third to rotate their archive of published arcs
[/ QUOTE ]
I would just be hazarding a guess, but, the loss of the Stars for the unpublished arcs.
Note: If I had more time to make arcs, I would be doing what Forbin sugjests. Just posting what I think others would have a problem with.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah. I'll admit I hadn't thought much on the star issue. When I find an arc I like I look for more arcs by that person. I don't really care what other people have rated them. I've run into too much crap to believe what the stars might claim. -
[ QUOTE ]
I completely acknowledge that that scenario would be easy to work around. But that wasn't my point.
Guy2 wants to show Guy1 the cool base Guy2 and his buddies have. And he can't if their server is closed to new characters. Thus closing the highest pop servers to new characters to increase population on the "wasted" ones would be Not A Good Thing for the game. It would send a very negative first impression to that potential new customer.
But as others have pointed out, Tongo is acting like the only answer that will satisfy him is the one that does what HE wants, and [censored] everyone else.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, I think I see where we are misunderstanding each others points, and it's simply a matter of perspective and not any ones fault.
Since I13 I've been playing a lot with the base editor and I honestly think it's very possible to have a cool looking base on a very tight budget. The removal of pathing restrictions has given everyone the ability to craft truly impressive bases. We can now impress people with quality rather than quantity. -

Ok what if they suspended people from making toons on Freedom and Virtue for a couple months. I mean damn...theyre filled! Seriously there really wouldnt be any harm or fowl, and the other servers do need a boost
[/ QUOTE ]Dude, think about it for a minute. Your buddy has been harping about this really great game for, like, YEARS, trying to get you to just come try it. He'll help you get started, giving you a bunch of influence and helping you level up so you can join him on raids and stuff with all his buddies and they got this really cool base and everything!
So you've finally given in. You've downloaded and installed the game, you sat through the HUGE update download, and now you've got him on the phone as you're creating your first character.
"Okay, so now I'm supposed to pick a server? Which one are you all on?"
"Freedom."
"Says it's not accepting new characters until further notice. Now what?"

Preventing people from playing with their pals is Not A Good Thing.
PS It's "harm or foul".

I'd just like to point out that this really isn't a valid argument. Don't get me wrong, I think preventing people from creating characters on any server they want is a horrible idea.
But say Freedom was locked out. Why couldn't the Vet player simply, god forbid, play with his buddy on a different server?
They could easily team together doing regular content, or if the Vet wants to help his friend level real fast they can go play in the MA.
[/ QUOTE ]
"so you can join him on raids and stuff with all his buddies and they got this really cool base and everything" -- last I heard, the devs were still working on the "transfer an entire supergroup" tool.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry Tripp but that argument won't fly. The vet and all his buddies could easily make alt SG's on more than one server. (This has the added bonus that the bases they makes will grow faster because they are already starting with a dedicated core of members) Many players already do this, with the exception of the few Freedom Fanatics that prefer to whine that their server is locked out like it is today.
(Not all Freedom players are fanatics.) -
I'm always happy to sign any suggestion that includes using the shoulder kittehs as missle weapons.

Its supposed to change to accommodate me. I bought the Universe for $6 just last month. Bought it from the previous owner who was strapped for cash and needed to buy lunch. Of course there was that 11% universal sales tax, so it was a tad bit more than $6...but still.
What? Why are you looking at me that way?

Why do you say "no"?
[/ QUOTE ]
Simply because I think the three arcs we are allowed to publish right now are too many.
In fact I'd be in favor of reducing the number of published arcs allowed to one. I know it wouldn't eliminate all the crap arcs we currently have to sort thru, but it would reduce it by two thirds. -
Additional arcs?
No.
Now if the OP suggested additional Maps . . . -

As for the names thats easy to fix. Whoever has a name used by others has a # put at the end of their name depending in what order their toon was made. No way to get around SGs though.

Anyone that tries adding a number to any of my characters names and I'll introduce their kneecaps to my baseball bat.

There are too many servers. Im willling to bet if they released server population numbers youd see theres room for improvement. I think the switching servers at will is a good idea, and would make for some interesting situations.
[/ QUOTE ]
This only your opinion, and you are basing it on faulty information.
[ QUOTE ]
Right now two servers are overcrowded
[/ QUOTE ]
And the solution to that is to add two more servers and move half of the players from each of the overcrowded servers to the two new servers. That way no one loses their characters name and if they could move SG's that would be swell.
Let's even go a step farther, Let's bring over the Euro Servers and reopen the Korean servers. -
[ QUOTE ]
What about players willfully being able to switch their toons for free. Server to server whenever you wish. Yes that would mean the game couldnt make any money in that area anymore, but the increased volume of players activity would make up for it. Might be technically nightmarish, but it might not either. SGs would stay where they are though. Idk. Just thought Id share.
[/ QUOTE ]
Did you see what happened to the NCSoft store when they released the Magic Booster and everyone tried to get it all at once?
Or how bout this weekend when it crashed?
Now imagine what would happen during the next 2xp weekend when everyone starts transfering their characters at the same time.
When the system crashes, and it will, what will those people do when their characters are lost/corrupted?
Do you think those people will be happy if they have to get their characters replaced with a back up and all the special IO's purps whatever they had on the character are missing because that older version didn't have them.
Oh and what happens when Superdude goes to another server for a few hours and when he returns to his preferred server his name (which he had for 3 years) has been taken by another player? -

[/ QUOTE ]Hey, they may do it. The rest of their game seems to be "Things found in the CoH suggestions forum", why not this?
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually since the OP has told us his suggestion if for Cryptics super hero game and not NCSoft's City of Heroes, I have to admit it has a better chance of being implemented. The best time for Cryptic to put a maibox system into CO is before the game is released. -

Fewer people running missions and getting salvage to put on the market = Decrease in supply = higher prices.
[/ QUOTE ]
However more people are trading in tickets for salvage and then selling it on the market causing an increase in the supply, and thus lowering market prices. -

Right now Virtue and Freedom are the only flush servers . . . Seriously today on Protector nobody was on Perigrine Island. Ghost town.
[/ QUOTE ]
Here's the funniest part the OP's suggestion.
He wants to make all servers more like Freedom yet he chose to play on Protector because it's less populated than Freedom.
He doesn't even understand that the reason Peregrine Island is empty is because all the farmers and PLers are are using the MA in the other zones. -
[ QUOTE ]
Or that people are running mission architect missions and there's less salvage dropping, period.

Now don't be bringing things into this that will burst their bubble. -

You can trade more than 9,999,999 at a time. Other than that, I agree completely. I would be happy if it was limited to only being able to transfer stuff to your account(leaving out friends, etc).
People already transfer stuff to their alts, why not make it more secure? Some will claim just because people already do it, that isn't enough reason. OK, I can buy that. But why not? How does it harm ANYBODY ELSE for me to be able to move an enhancement(or influence or recipe) from one of my characters to another one of my characters? In fact, other than me jumping through less hoops, what difference is there at all? Tell me that. How does it hurt anybody else? How?
[/ QUOTE ]
Just some friendly advice, you aren't going to get much support if you go around calling the people who are agreeing with you [censored]'s
It is however a great way to get your post locked or even deleted. Then your idea will fade away into obscurity never to be seen again. -

We have too many servers for COH/V. Drop em to 5 so theres a real population in each one rather than 2 or 3.

Shut Freedom down.
Merging servers, as brought up in the cut-paste someone else put up therewill, I *guarantee,* give less population.
Why?
Because people will leave, for all the reasons mentioned in that reply.
