    FORBIN

I almost ALMOST almost was about to take a sip of hot coffee. ALMOST.

Thank goodness I didn't quite have it up to my lips, because this made me bust up out loud.

    *SWAT* with the broom.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry, Timing is something you have to sacrifice when posting zingers on an internet forum.

My only regret is that I couldn't say that in a loud voice at the NOW headquarters. Of course I'd have a car running at the door for a fast getaway from the raging feminists that would be chasing me.

  2. I think a broom stick power would be awesome for female characters! The devs could pair it up with a dust pan power. After all street sweeping is womens work.

When the finish sweeping the streets they can hurry home to do our laundry and cook us a steak dinner. And if they ask nicely we'll take them to Icon so they can buy a pair of shoes.

Well, mini-games would be fun, but there's a legal issue. Unfortunately, there's some one shortsighted enough to have made any form of online gambling, including ones that have no interaction with real cash, either illegal, or heavily fined. I'm talking even places like NeoPets had to pull their games, and they don't even have a monthly fee.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Mini games are one thing but any type of gambling opens the company up for all sorts of unnecessary legal headaches.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
It struck me as an idea while wandering in the in-game casinos in St. Maritals.. why don't we have an actual casino-esque minigames?

Well I understand the possible implications with gambling acts, but assuming it's not real money being spent, and only infamy/influence it shouldn't be an issue... (so we can avoid the Second Life issue, and get it more akin to say.. Yohoho Puzzle Pirates).

Either way, the games could carry a number of badges, and be a downright awesome money sink (Afterall, the casino ALWAYS wins), and even opens itself up to a few missions. There's always competitive games too, such as poker.

    --

And yes, I realize my idea is rather silly and a large amount of work. Not to mention it doesn't fit into the game's genre.. but hey, it gives a place for the Gambit wannabes too!

    [/ QUOTE ]

As long as there is no way to win influence/infamy, merits, tickets from playing the games no objection.

But only after the devs finish their other priorities first.

Technically, a solo friendly task force is a story arc. If the task force is solo friendly, it defeats the purpose of making task force instead of a story arc.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm going to have to agree with the sentiment here.
Story arcs are designed for a single player with the help of small groups on occasion (for EB/AV situations). Task Forces are, by their definition, designed for a group of players to tackle at once. If you want to solo a Task Force, you should go into it knowing that you're trying to solo something designed for a group.

It's not the fault of the devs that most players are purposefully skipping over the stories just to get to the rewards faster. If you really want to take it slow and fully enjoy the story, get together with some friends who all want to take their time with it. You're not being forced to PuG.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    /this.

Sometime after Croatoa came out, there were specifically... the one on pinn was called a "Smell the roses" run. Time was taken, the story shared, oohed and ahhed over.

That and, really, the majority of the content in this game is able to be soloed. A little (very little) team specific content isn't a bad thing. Could they use reviewing and revamping? Sure. Put in a solo "cliffs note" side arc if they want? Fine. But a task force of one isn't a task force. It's a mission.

Don't want to bash the guy but if you know your leaving and coming back keep in contact with your sg members at least.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Good advice. He could have easily set up a free SG website at Guildportal.com and the whole SG could have kept in touch with eachother.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
If you really can't think of anything you want to do in the game anymore, taking a break might actually be a good idea. Let it run out and don't resub just yet, spend the money on a movie or something, try some other games, maybe pop back to check out the next big expansion.

We can't force you to have fun, and you probably can't force yourself. Don't let yourself get burned out on the game. Maybe you find you'll miss it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    This.

Personally, I think being able to turn off experience is a inane idea. What sort of sense does that make?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It makes perfect sense. Players were leveling too fast. Contacts storyarcs were being left unfinished and they were clogging up the contact lists.

Being able to turn off the XP allows them to finish an arc. then the contact goes inactive and removes them from the active list.

Being able to stop XP gives us the ability to enjoy Rikti/Zombie events, Task Forces, Mission Architect, GM fights, Holiday Events, Mothership/Hami raids, work on badges/accolades, etc without having to worry about leveling past the regular missions.

Being able to turn off xp allows us to participate in the 2xp weekends at our own pace.

Just accept that you came up with an unpopular idea based on your misconceptions about farming.

i think i'm gonna budget cut this game next month. it was fun though. i'm just that cheap. soon i will try out age of conan, and warhammer after i get my new computer that i'm buying with a credit card next month. pass the pipe. share the wealth, and the love. bye. bye.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't think that word means what you think it means. You are implying that you are . . .

    cheap - stingy or miserly

Yet you have told us that you are on a limited budget of $900 for disability and you are unemployed. but each month you spend $504.15 on frivolous items things like Xbox, PSU, WoW, alcohol, restaurants, adult entertainment, maid service, sf4, fightpad controller, defense grid, castle crashers, ssf2thdr, gambling, and movie theatres.

You spend more money than you bring in. If you add up the numbers you yourself gave us for you necessities (groceries, rent, car insurance, renters insurance, life insurance, and gas) you get a total of $694.

    Do the math.

    $694 - necessities
    $504.15 - Frivolous expenses
    ------------
    $1198.15

You also tell us you just spent $735 on a hospital bill, you intend to get a credit card and spend another $1200. on a new computer, and you need cataract surgery, and dental insurance.

That isn't cheap. The words you are looking for are . . .

squanderer - A reckless extravagant consumer

Spendthrift - One who spends money recklessly or wastefully
  14. <QR>

Anyone notice how the OP is avoiding the fact that we have the ability to turn off xp and we could use that feature to keep our characters at level 49.

Nope, all we have aree Taco Bell or Taco Gringo. We did have a tiny little taco place open up on main street not to long ago. My wife wants to try it but I'm a bit scared by it.

Once again, your suggestion would do absolutely NOTHING to stop PLing and Farming. It would AT MOST slow it down temporarily until people with level 50s got a new level 49 up to level, and then would turn off the XP and continue doing what they are doing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not familiar with the possibility of turning off XP. How's this achieved, and for what reason?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Menu - Options - Disable Earning XP - Enable/Disable (as I recall the wording.)

Introduced a few issues ago, by player request as there were people feeling they were speeding past content too *quickly* with XP smoothing, debt reduction and the like. (Don't recall if it was the same time as patrol XP - I believe so.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
You can turn off XP gain by clicking, hard enough as it seems, the Disable XP button in your options menu in-game. It was put in so that people could stop gaining XP to prevent outleveling a contact, or other level-locked aspect of the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So Amish. Why are you avoiding these answers? Is it because of the fact that by off xp we can prevent any benefit you imagine would be gained by your flawed suggestion?

If the devs do get rid of characters once they achieve level 50, what is going to stop players from turning off their XP at level 49 and continuing to play the game using that as the new level cap? No characters get deleted and they can continue to as you put it "farm".

Another thing you claim that your idea will stop people from running thru the same content over and over yet you seem to be conveniently overlooking that each and every single time you start a new character you are running thru the same content again.
  19. Just remember that while you can lower his rank and block him from taking things from storage, you have to do it on EACH storage bin. As of I14 each bin has seperate permissions.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Of course the bio and costume were wiped. If the name was wiped then that doesn't make much sense but the rest of it was just asking to be removed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You've hit upon the part of the story that doesn't ring true too many of us here. If this was a simple case of a costume and bio violating copyright/trademark, then the issue was resolved once the generic occurred. The player changes the costume and bio and that's the end of the story. The GM's aren't going to delete the character.

A deletion will only occur if there is more to the story than we are being told. For example, instead of making a different costume, the player keeps remaking the costume that got genericed and disregards the repeated GM warnings until the GM finally says enough is enough and deletes the characeter.

Or maybe the real issue had nothing to do with copyright. Maybe the player was using the character in the recent MA exploit fiasco.

There's more to this story than the person in question wants to share with us.
  21. We don't even know how we will be able to get to the other dimension yet. We may be able to create characters in the actual dimension, or we may have to use a portal to enter like in the Portal Corps or Vanguard Buildings.

As far as we know the other world may not have ever developed an AE company.

Again thank you to the haters out there. I enjoy your letters. I enjoy erasing your letters. In fact, the next person who harasses me is going to get a letter themselves. With a notice about their harassment. So think about.

As I said I am not going to handle this out in public or put anything up for the trolls to read. The character is gone. End of story. I've taken the actual advice that the rational people here have given. If you want to continue to hate on myself, my friends or my characters I will look at you each sadly and walk away.

Thank you to those who have been a voice of reason here. I appreciate it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah. Sorry but I find it highly unlikely that anyone here is sending you hate mail. If you have recieved any PM's that you find offensive then you should petition them to the mods. Threatening to send a nasty letter back if you get anymore lowers you to their level.

I also question your definition of the word hate. Disbelieving accusations of highly suspect behaviour without evidence to back it up doesn't come anywhere close to being hate. If the letters contain more than that you will need to provide proof.

It's easy to make accusations and refuse to provide proof that doesn't exist. If you honestly wanted to keep this out of the public eye you never would have posted in this thread in the first place.

You got caught doing something wrong and you were held accountable for it. If you want to fight that decision you have been told what steps to take.

Certain powers should be able to be refused and set for an option where they can always be either refused or prompted. IMO the list is short.

    Team Fly
    Team TP

I know some will cry, but I don't want to look like Jack Frost or have the flaming turds floating around me. Tough. They are buffs with only visual side effects. Deal with it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I would be satisfied if they made buffs affect teammates only. That would remove 99% of the irritating misuse of the buffs.

I would prefer a toggle to accept buffs or to block them. They could be done in two ways.

We could be given a choice to:

    A. Accept all buffs
    B. Accept buffs from teammates only
    C. Block all buffs

Or it could be broken down into specific buffs and we could select which buffs we accept/decline, in a window similar to the one we get when we /hide.
