So let me clarify what I meant for those of you who are challenged.
[/ QUOTE ]
Typical immature response. You can't refute the flaws in your suggestion that have been presented to you so you resort to name calling and denial. -

[ QUOTE ]
What does the Invention system - which deals ONLY with 'loot' we don't see, combined on theoretical platforms, to produce existing enhancements or tags for costume options - have to do with this?
Nothing. Nothing at all. We don't have any need for these things *except for cosmetic purposes*, and perhaps maybe a base item would be cool, instead of a portal you step out from your car door or hop off your cycle. Aside from a prop? It's neither necessary or implementable.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you can build rocket boots and other things from salvage why not a vehicle?
And in case you forgot this is a computer game. Everything is cosmetic. Nothing is needed.
[/ QUOTE ]
*snicker*
He doesn't know the difference between an costume piece and a travel power. -
You seem to be concerned about how much storage a solo Starter SG can hold. You can get quite a lot of storage for the startup 300k membership bonus prestige. Especially since storage units do not use power/control.
Just Storage
100k Workshop
95k Enhancement Table
105k Salvage Bins x7
-----------------------------
300k
If you want power
50k Oversight Center
25k Combo Power/Control Generator
95k Enhancement Table
100k Workshop
30k Salvage Bins x2
------------------------------
300k
If you want medical
50k Oversight Center
25k Combo Power/Control Generator
95k Enhancement Table
100k Infirmary
10k Rezzer
15k Storage Bin
-----------------------------------------------
295k
If you want a telepad as well
50k Oversight Center
25k Combo Power/Control Generator
95k Enhancement Table
50k Teleport Room
15k Telepad
10k Beacon
50k Medbay
10k Rezzer
-----------------------------------------------
305k
A player can easily earn 5k prestige in 2 hours and the Consignment House transaction slots can store salvage and recipes in stacks of 10.
Transaction Slots By Level
1 -1 (10)
2 -2 (20)
3 -3 (30)
4 -4 (40)
5 -6 (60)
6 -7 (70)
7 -8 (80)
8 -9 (90)
10 -10 (100)
12 -11 (110)
14 -12 (120)
16 -13 (130)
18 -14 (140)
20 -15 (150)
40 -16 (160)
That isn't including all the extra transaction slots you can earn by playig the game, and you also have Vault storage for Salvage.
Vault storage by level
1 -3
2 -4
3 -8
4 -15
5 -30
36 -32
37 -34
38 -36
39 -38
40 -40
45 -50
Now even tho I would love to see the devs give us some base recipe storage, they'll never allow us to store the amounts your suggesting.
They just cut the amount of salvage we could store in the salvage bins from 2,500 to 30 when I13 went live. There's no way they will ever let us store more recipes than salvage. -

The IRS realised that taxing video game money would be taxing Monopoly money.
That's another issue- RMTers could be part of a money laundering scheme. Using RMT services may not only get you banned, and possibly having your credit card and identity stolen, but you could end up arrested for aiding criminal activity.
[/ QUOTE ]
A prosecuter would find it next to impossible proving that in court. At least in the US. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Wait are you sure about that?
[/ QUOTE ] No.
I've heard random stories such as how somebody couldn't afford a certain treatment so the hospital went with the cheaper option, in this case in meant amputating a leg.
I have no proof of anything like this, as it was just some story I heard. But knowing how businesses operate, it wouldn't surprise me.

Wasn't that comment made before the invention system came into play. I'll concede that a power pool it doesn't make sense and I'll stop pulling that dead horse. But my thread is titled Vehicle Travel Pool Set or Invention perhaps. So lets go back to addressing the possibility of it being Invention. That makes more sense than the power pool anyway. All the Heroes in the comics/tv shows/cartoons/movies that have vehicles had it built or built it themselves.

No one has given a definite reason why it wouldn't work
[/ QUOTE ] The problems were pointed out in posts 3, 7, 8, and 10. None of them have been addressed beyond, "with enough money and time and a completely new engine it could work!"
What would count as "definite" in your opinion?

Perhaps no one can find the old threads the devs made on vehicles because the devs purged them because they have changed their minds.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well there's a very easy way for you to check and see if the devs changed their minds. Log on and check what vehicles you have to choose from as a travel power.
What? . . . There aren't any? I guess they didn't change their minds then.
[/ QUOTE ]
wow are you that stupid? They could have changed their minds and haven't implemented yet. It doesn't go from a no to a here it is. Goes from a no to a maybe to a yes. Then when it is a yes it takes time for them to add it to a game. You were trying to make yourself sound cool with a your mom type of joke and you made yourself sound like an idiot.
[/ QUOTE ]
No I was using your own methods of discussion against you, and now you see how the posts by Dementor and you look to us.
Just because forum maintenence deletes old threads, it doesn't mean the devs have changed their minds on any given topic, nor does it mean they need to restate their opinion. They have better things to do then rehash old arguments.
Deal with it. -

This is about a crazy challenge with giant mobs and NO exp. You know for those of us that 3-4 guys are nothing.(I'm looking at you Brutes and scrappers)
The OP said right in the main suggestion that it would be fine with no exp. This is challenge purposes not not farm purposes.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is EXACTLY what is meant by my suggestion. In other words, introduce a "Challenge Mode" to CoX. No xp, no drops and no prestige. Only thing I can see be given with this is a badge. Something along the lines of...
Badge Title: [u]Practice Makes Perfect[u]
You've spent a total of X hours in the danger, assuring yourself that when a threat arises, you'll be ready!

Yeah, without rewards of any kind that's a very useful training tool.
Now Lucky, in this post I'm addressing the OP directly. -

So, 3-4 instead of 2-3?
I think we're talking 16 man mobs.
Even without XP, it'd be nice to melt some piles without having to work to generate them.
[/ QUOTE ]
So you want to be able to make easy farms. Sorry, You'll just have to make do with what you can make with the MA.

[/ QUOTE ]
Learn to read Lucky. I wasn't responding to the OP. I was responding to DoktorMechaniker
He and I were talking about using the MA in bases for a danger room. Also if you READ what the Doktor said, you will see that he didn't say anything about no rewards being given, he said Even without XP. XP is only one reward you get from the MA. There's also Influence, Prestige, and Tickets. He also said, " it'd be nice to melt some piles without having to work to generate them. "
That is a recipe for an exploit, and we all saw the results of what happens when the risk vs reward is out of whack. Or have you forgotten the Rikti Comm Officer fiasco and the meow farms that the GMs are dropping the hammer on.
Now if the good Doktor made a misstatement, and he really meant to say without any rewards, then he can come back and make that clarification.
Next time you decide to jump into a conversation with your guns a blazin, take the time to make sure you know who is talking who.
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe you should learn to read, right from Doktor in the quote you used He said "Even without exp it would be nice to melt some mobs"
So ya learn to read and don't tell me to cause I read everything just fine.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, I'm sorry Lucky, all you've done is demonstrate that you know how to click on the quote button. However, you have confirmed that reading comprehension isn't your strong point. Even without XP does not include Influence, Prestige, or tickets. All of those are things you can earn while using the MA.
You also seem to be unaware that we currently have the ability in game to turn off experience whenever we want. All you have to do to turn off experience is click on Menu, then Options, then under the General tab scroll down to Miscellaneous, and there second from the bottom you will find Disable Earning XP and you will be able to choose Earn XP or No XP.
Once you have selected the No XP option and return to playing the game you will see that you still earn rewards. Influence/Infamy, Prestige, Merits, Tickets, Inspirations, Salvage, Recipes, and enhancements all continue to be earned. -

If you don't like the entry price, feel free to play in another MMO. I'm pretty sure both Champions Online and DC Universe Online will have a monthly fee as well, so I don't think you are going to have much luck finding a superhero MMORPG that you can play "forever" for $100 (your game box price plus times two and a little extra).
Good luck with that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, it is possible that those two other games might offer lifetime subs as a promotional gimmick for a short period of time to attract players when the games are released.
[/ QUOTE ]"Attracting players" is not the reason lifetime subscriptions are offered at the beginning of some games' runs. The purpose is to quickly make up for the money lost during development when the game had no income.
[/ QUOTE ]
I understand that, but I think it could be another factor they consider when deciding if they want offer lifetime subs. -

What country did they live int hat the doctors allowed the fingers to heal together and didn't repair them?
[/ QUOTE ] As long as it's not life threatening I believe any hospital in the U.S. would do something like that if it was the cheaper option and the person didn't have insurance/couldn't pay.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wait are you sure about that? I thought it only happened if you were unlucky enough to have an HMO as your healthcare insurance provider.
I had a friend that went to the hospital for chest pains and they sent him home because his HMO wouldn't cover it, yet that same hospital kept him for three days for observation and testing for the same condition when he was unemployed and had to rely on Medicaid. -

Thing is, there's really nothing to prosecute. RMT doesn't break any laws, only EULAs, so accounts could be banned, but thats about it. IIRC the blizzard suit wasn't really about gold trading per se, it was about spam. Keep in mind, that this was against a US firm, so US anti-spam laws would apply. i don't know that the same could be said of a foreign RMT outfit. Odds are they operate from a country with no laws concerning spam.
As far as comparisons with RIAA, MPAA, etc, keep in mind that there are international agreements governing intellectual property. I don't know that there are any such agreements that are related to the issues involved in RMT.
[/ QUOTE ] I'm willing to bet that if RMT gets out of hand governments would get involved by taxing people. The last thing any of us want is our in game currency to have any kind of significant real world value.
[/ QUOTE ]
Only trouble is how do you tax criminal activities? RMT sites aren't being run by legitimate businesses. -
[ QUOTE ]
Are vehicles somehow irrelevant to the genre?
[/ QUOTE ]
To the genre no. To the world the devs created here, yes.
What DC and Marvel do isn't relevant here. They are free to make their own games and put vehicles in them as travel powers if they want.
[ QUOTE ]
I've been around here for a long time, and I pay attention. I've never seen the devs refute the possibility of vehicles to the degree you're suggesting. Again, I'd love to see a link to the contrary.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah right, and everyone that has said they remember it being said are all just liars. Just accept the fact that you missed it, or simply don't remember it. No one has ever read all the threads that have been made over 5 years.
Unless the devs make the effort to sticky a thread they all eventually get eaten by the forum purges. -
Without rewards I think it could be a great tool to practice using any given AT. Combine it with Arena features and you'd be able to practice PvP as well. Marketed as a danger room, it could even attract new blood to the PvP community.

well if your that cheap be like a gladiator, you played that for life...or was it for your life.

I wouldn't pay for that, but I would pay for a lifetime sub to watch Zekiran and BadStorm wrestle in a kiddie pool filled with lime jello . . .
Zek can be our version of Lita from the WWE. -

So if you are not a dev don't say that what A dev may have said years ago is still applicable today.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually yes it is. There are several things the devs have said will never happen years ago and they still apply today.
For example they have said
They will never raise the level cap.
This is not City of Cars
They will never allow us to respec out of an AT.
Being able to pull 10 enhancements off of a build during a respec was generous.
They will not allow us to skip levels when creating a character.
I think they also said no to power suggestions like Wall Climbing, Swinging Travel Power, and Whips because of coding difficulties with the game engine
I'm sure there's a few others that I'm forgetting. -
