The game manual that many boxes have out there are quite useless

    [/ QUOTE ]

You should take the time to read. The game manual is provided for free on the game website, which I linked above. The company even goes so far as to provide a manual for both factions, and the manuals are kept up to date. It currently explains how to use the Mission Architect which as you may recall was just released a month ago.

Advice: Sit in Atlas Park and Mercy Island and see what is actually going on.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh you mean where new players are being recruited into running AE farms? (Nothing wrong with farmng) The same missions that get them thousands of tickets which they then trade in for salvage and recipes that they sell for MILLIONS at the market? Thanks for proving my argument for me.

    [ QUOTE ]
Greenhorns that want relatively expensive costume parts and slots on whatever server or side they choose all while a new SG giving the ability to have those parts availible from a base storage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Costume recipes are not expensive, on either faction. 75 million for a recipe is expensive.

Whether or not it upsets the forum police, I view it like this.... once I spent a good five or ten minutes searching, if it doesn't show up, it's not worth digging up.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree with this 110% especially when we have so many examples of posts that would never come up in a search.

I don't think anyone would expect someone to find a topic under a title like "Best idea ever", or some of the other colorful titles we've seen over the years that have nothing to do with the suggestion itself.

I think most of us are just happy if the effort gets made, although there will always be a few that take things to extremes.

Oh and rereading my first sentence when I posted Bill's guide, I see I could have worded it better. Using that tiny piece of gray matter I have, it does seem confrontational.

Edit: Sometimes it's good to have a Munki on your back.

Dont expect it until after I15. Because with the way people are treatin AE now, well...let's just say you'll start hearing alot of lv50 toons asking "Wut are enhancement?"

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's already happening Rowdy. I quit a bad pug about 2 weeks ago when they started bickering and an obviously PLed Warshade asked "Wut r enahancements?"

Go! Search! Read those already existing discussions

People made personal SGs BEFORE they made bases cheaper.
    It is even easier now.

Go! Search! Read the discussion about personal SGs.
Read the guides about how to make a personal SG/base.

There is more discussion and info about this than we could ever need.
We don't need this new thread.... check those.

That's not very good advice at all. Seriously, have you ever tried doing searches with such common phrases as "SG" or "personal"? You'd spend hours sorting through the 20,000 posts that will be presented to you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Then you need to learn how to search. Here is a helpful guide provided by Memphis Bill.

    a tip on searching.
    1. Click on "Search" up at the top of the forum.
    2. On the left, under "Forum(s) to search," select "Suggestions and ideas."
    3. On the right, Keyword Search Terms. This is probably where your problem was if you did search. Try the following, exactly as typed:

    +vehicle -"re: "

This will search for anything with the string "vehicle" in the title. The -re: portion of it removes replies, so you'll see the root of every thread that comes up, letting you see just how many threads there are on this. (The last helps for other subjects, as well.)

Be sure to put the space between the colon and last quote.

    4. Click the "In subject" radio button. This is a search, not a cute blonde in a bikini. Here, you want to ignore the body.

    5. Leave Username Search blank.

    6. Date range, Newer Than, change the 1 to a 3, and the time to Months.

    7. Result format doesn't matter. Click on "Submit."

That should help you with your searches in the future.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I do know how to search, I'm pointing out that even with refinements in your searches, you can get thousands of responses.

And frankly, I don't think it matters that someone brought up an idea a year ago. If it's a decent idea, then maybe it deserves to be brought up more frequently. If only truly original, never-been-posted-before ideas/information/questions are allowed to be posted, we wouldn't have much of a forum.

Even the "search before you post" posts here have been brought up before.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If that is true then you are exagerating to be dramatic.

    1. You will never get thousands of responses. the limit a search provides is 200.

    2. No one said anyone should be searching for things posted a year ago. In the guide I provided it clearly states a person searching should limit the search to 1-3 months.

    3. If you follow the guide and only search the title using +vehicle -"re: " you further reduce the number of results.

For example following Memphis Bill's guide I just did a search using "lairs" across all the forums and I got exactly 3 results.

Three is a far cry from thousands.

I like the first part - the Terminal that can link bins.

But I want to keep separate bins with separate permissions as well. Are you suggesting that *all* bins have to be attached to a Terminal in order ot be used?

That seems to be what your second part of the suggestion is saying. I don't wnat that to happen. Adding a required attachment does not "simplify", it instead adds "complication" in that instead of having one item to incorporate in my base designs, I would now have to work 2 items in.

And we definitely need to keep some way to set aside some salvage bins with separate permissions, but I could see a system where you attach the "open" bins to one terminal and allow anyone to access those bins, while setting other bins aside with more limited permissions - either as standalones or attached to their own terminal.

    So, I guess I can /halfsign.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The terminal idea which has been kicked around by a few of us up in the base forums would work like this.

    1. It can only be linked to bins in the same room. That way SG's can still use bins for personal storage.

    2. It would only draw from what the person has permission to use. So it wouldn't circumvent storage permissions.

We used the attachment idea because we wanted to give SG's the option of not using it at all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I like this better. It preserves the separate permissions we requested and got in I13.

But I wasn't sure how complex it would be (programming-wise) to set it so the Terminal recognizes the various permissions of different bins. If that ends up being too complex, then separating bins into different rooms should work out well. I suppose you would then set up a Terminal for each room?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The devs could design it so it would be one terminal per room, or they could even limit the number of bins that can attach to a terminal. (Like they do with certain control items)

If they limit the number of attachments then they don't need to worry about permissions. SG can choose which bins get linked together by rank. Then if you don't have permission, you can't use it.

Yeah! How dare large SG's recruit new members and make new friends constantly! What a bunch of horrible social misfits.

  12. Please don't take this the wrong way, but how do you expect other players to know how long it is going to take you to get back online?

People get disconnected all the time and we have no way of knowing the cause of it.

Maybe you have an old computer, Maybe there was a storm that caused a black out. Maybe the server was just laggy, Maybe you just quit without warning (yeah that actually does happen a lot with pugs)

Some people can get back online immediately, others take a while. You can't expect people to stand around twiddling their thumbs waiting for you. They have every right to continue to enjoy a game they paid to play.

Did you bother to check with each person on the team to find out if they had time restraints? Maybe they could only play for a few hours.

Maybe they set aside a certain length of time to do the story arc or had to finish it before they had to leave for work or some other real life situation.

I'm sorry you got DC'd but you just have to accept that these things happen.

    Respec idea

There's nothing wrong with wishing for something but be aware this isn't a new suggestion. People have been asking for this for as long as there have been respecs in the game. People have always wanted to save all their enhancements. It didn't matter if they were DO's, SO's, HO's or IO's. The Dev response has been the same. They feel they were being generous when they allowed us to pull 10 enhancements from a build.

    AE "Hero" Option

Ya know for someone so passionate about calling a spade a spade because using the designation Arch Villain disrupts his ability to roleplay, he doesn't seem to comprehend simple storytelling techniques.

It doesn't matter what faction you are playing when you use the AE. redside or blueside are not relevant.

YOU are the main character of the interactive story. Everything revolves around the choices YOU make. The opponents YOU defeat. YOU are the HERO!

All the antagonists you face are the VILLAINS. They are the bad guys of the story. They are trying to stop you. They are trying to keep the hero from succeeding.

Before the OP can complain that using the term Arch Villain in the AE ruins his RP immersion, then he needs to learn how to RP first.
  18. He has a pistol because carrying an ostrich around in a holster would look silly.
