Have you ever seen the movie the Spirit? In the very beginning he is running across the city jumping from roof top to rooftop very quickly. He wasn't leaping a half mile at a time, and he wasn't running as fast as the flash, but he was running much faster than a normal person and jumping further and higher than a normal person which allowed him to traverse the city very quickly. This is what I would like.

Running as fast as the speed of sound like super speed is not the same and not what I'm asking for. Jumping over entire city blocks in one leap like Super jump is not the same and is not what I'm asking for. The only way to get this more "natural" mode of travel currently is to take swift, hurdle, combat jumping, and keep sprint on and put a slot or two in each of those powers. So selecting ONE travel power than allowed to to get around like this IS different.

I'm sorry your so close minded that you feel your ignorant little opinion is law. To disagree or just flat out not like an idea is one thing, but to come in here spewing negative garbage about how I my idea is stupid and that I'm being deceptive in what I really want is both uncalled for and just [censored] rude.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The Fitness power pool is the Spirits travel power.

What you want is for the zones to have buildings and things close enough together so you can use them to run/jump across.

    Not gonna happen.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Cap au Diable has an area, near the airport, where the buildings are very close together. I know my /SR Brute (with quickness, hurdle and CJ) can run around atop the buildings without much issue.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Very true. But the devs aren't going to redesign every zone so we can run across rooftops and along telephone poles.

Even in the movie The Spirit the main character can't do that. There are open areas he has to cross. Hell, he got a ride in a cop car because it was faster than him running.
  2. [ QUOTE ]
Except the Hero Safeguard Accolades don't have a power bonus, so except for badge hunting purposes they're insignificant.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    At the current time.

If the devs wanted they could alter the accolades so they give some sort of bonus. Maybe a permanent "temp" power unique to each badge.

  4. Will someone please remember to quote the OP's before they delete a post so we can continue to mock them long after they take their ball and run home to mommy.

  5. I think the OP is talking about his Origin power.

Originally Origin powers were temp powers that disappeared at level 10. They cannot be enhanced and thusly do not appear in your enhancement screen.

They are just there to provide a little offensive boost during levels 1-10.

In issue 7 they were changed so we get to keep them after level 10.

    here's a way. Deathtraps.

Introduce a villain group with a penchant for elaborate puzzles... such as giant pinball machines where you are trapped in the ball, elaborate mazes with lots of pop up turrets and nasty little traps, living chess peices where you have to make the right moves or the captured NPC gets a trip to the hospital...

Make the death trap oponents completely optional, and normal xp for spawns. Treat them like minigames.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So the devs should pour energy into a system 99% of their players will skip?

    Huh.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why not? They did it for PvP.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
Explanations? Yeah my cat is on fire and my mother dropped a whole bunch of acid and kidnapped a school bust full of penguins and well I just have to go. That is so helpful.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hell, I don't care what the excuse is. The more outlandish or silly will make me smile and eliminate any irritation. At least they care enough about their fellow players to speak up.

I may even throw them on my friends list because they made me laugh when they left.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
Geez. Eight is unwieldy enough, but if you're willing to sit and wait for members 9 through 20 to show up, then who am I to deny you the option.
    I like options.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm just wondering what the lag would be like. Zones are big places and they get Laggy as heck during events and raids. Mission maps are much smaller.

What would a cave be like with 20 people trying to fight in it.

I'd rather see the devs spend their time on important issues than dilly-dallying around with a very minor QoL issue.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Like you said in a later post, some are for it, others against it, and some don't care. Personally, I think it's a system that people have been asking for through a mailing system or recipe/influence storage items.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't see much luck getting any more recipe storage than we already have. I haven't seen the devs say anything to indicate they changed their anti-hoarding argument.

(I'm not saying I agree with it)
  10. [ QUOTE ]
It'd be handy to have a useful in-game mail system. That would allow you to mail items and Inf to your other characters, as well as other people.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Emailing inf/loot to other accounts is probably the main reason the devs won't allow it. They actively try to restrict RMT sites ability to move things around. That's why they put draconian restrictions on trial accounts.

The best you can hope for is to be able to do it on the same account.
  11. The game is currently balanced around 8 man teams. If content can be made that is balanced around larger teams, then sure, but only the devs can say if it's feasible.
  12. I hate to say it but it's something you get used to. I'd suggest using your notes feature to one star the jerks and leave you a reminder why you don't want to team with them in the future.

They could at least have the decency to make up an excuse.

Yes I know there can be unforseen disconnects and power outages. With the former the player is usually back as soon as they can reboot and asking to rejoin, the latter is a rare occurance.

    (QR)

I've been for this change in the past, and I still am.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    That's cool.

Some are for it, some are against, and some don't care.

Throw your support here. We've been asking for this for years.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
You have a valid point about the 48 months of service. However, I believe that the rewards I earned are part of that service I paid for, and they really do provide a lot of assistance in game. The created them to reward players for playing the game for a certain period, and I've done that. I hope that somehow they can sort this out.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The vet reward program was not created to reward players for playing the game. It was created to reward customers for keeping an account active.

The only account you are entitled to have 48 months vet rewards on is the one you kept active for 48 months. When you open a new account you start from scratch just like everyone else.

Many people pay for multiple accounts. Some use more than one account for themselves and others pay for the accounts their family uses, and quite often those accounts were started at different times and have different vet status.

There is no way for NCSoft to tell if you are the only person using the account or if the accounts your paying for are being used by seperate family members.

Now IF they can transfer your EU account over to the US servers, that's a different story.
  16. I'd rather see the devs spend their time on important issues than dilly-dallying around with a very minor QoL issue.

what about a type of danger room option in SG bases to pass the time while waiting for friends to come online? what about a chess board where all the pieces are players? or checkers? yes, checkers, as it is. would not be a fun way to pass CoX time. but that is what i'm trying to discuss.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Technically we have this already. The AE is would make a great danger room, and we have been asking for a base AE terminal for exactly the purpose you describe.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
to reiterate, this is about options and immersion.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry I don't see how this idea of yours helps people immerse into roleplaying a super hero/villain.

    [ QUOTE ]
slots, card games, roulette, the monkey fight club, races

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah everyone remembers the stories of when Superman and Dr. Doom went to Vegas and hit the casinos.

    Playing the slots/roullette/blackjack/poker - doesn't make anyone feel heroic/villainous.

Placing bets on which npc monkey wins a monkey fight isn't heroic or villainous.

The Arson event in Steel Canyon is a mini game that helps players with immersion.

Safeguard/Mayhem Missions help players with immersion.

The Pillbox mini game in RV helps with immersion.

The Bounties in Sirens help with immersion. (There's a warrant/contract out on player x. Go arrest/kill him.)

The Supa Troll Raves is a mini game that helps with immersion.

Hami/Mothership Raids help players feel more heroic/villainous. (They saved the world or demonstrated the destructive power at their command)
  19. The SG badges belong to the SG not to the players.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
also city of Villains . way to be constructive too .

    [/ QUOTE ]

No. CoV is the name of the first paid expansion. The game has always been City of Heroes.

    [ QUOTE ]
The only problem some people are having currently is that they are spending too much time powerleveling in the AE. If they actually played the game instead of constantly making a mad dash to level 50 they wouldn't have any problems getting whatever rewards they wanted.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
this thread wasn't meant to be an indictment, or a troll post. it was a thread intended to make a suggestion or two as to alternatives to the limited system we have now. options, immersion and a parity to real life are parameters that i was trying to adhear to.

i could speculate as to what a lot of "problems" are too. especially the seemingly sole intent of a lot of CoX forum posters to perpetually dwell on the negative. but that serves no decernable purpose in moving the game forward.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I didn't say you were trolling, I merely explained that the reason some players are experiencing shortages is because of their preferred playstyle.

The "limitations" are not real. Even casual players have no problems aquiring whatever they want with just the slightest bit of effort.

Influence can be made hand over fist by selling drops that are aquired from regular missions.

Merits can be traded in for recipes that net millions.

AE tickets can also be traded in for salvage and recipes that net millions.

For those that prefer a farming playstyle the rewards can be earned even faster.

The only thing your idea would accomplish is to make it even easier for RMT sites to aquire things for them to sell to players.

So again I respectully say to you, HELL NO!
  21. I use safes to raise my floors in the 2x2 and 1x2 rooms. It takes patience and sometimes multiple colums of stacked safes. It also helps to rotate the floor tile by right clicking the mouse.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
maybe i should have been clearer. no critters or experience need be involved. only infamy/influence, all origin enhancements, recipies, salvage, badges and costume pieces. in other words: rewards.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Is HELL NO clear enough for you? This is city of heroes, not city of gambling.

    [ QUOTE ]
this could also aleviate some of the supply vs demand issues that a lot of people are experiencing currently too.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The only problem some people are having currently is that they are spending too much time powerleveling in the AE. If they actually played the game instead of constantly making a mad dash to level 50 they wouldn't have any problems getting whatever rewards they wanted.

It is ridiculously easy to make inf hand over fist in this game, and that same inf can be used to buy whatever rewards they want.
  23. And how about giving us a brand new zone where the 5th Column has been regaining their strength and preparing for their return.

    Someplace like . . . Oh I don't know . . .How about . . .

    THE MOON!!!
  24. 1. I hope you are feeling better soon.

    2. Thank you for providing some very astute observations about the OP.

I find myself agreeing with everything you posted here, and I must admit I'm a little envious of your ability to express yourself.
