When I worked for **&* we did both directory assistance and call completion if the number was inside the US, Hawaii, or Alaska.

Small correction. What they aired was the season finale. They never got to shoot the series finale. The show was cancelled after they finished shooting the second season episodes.

Reminds me of a South Carolina woman that called me 7:30 am on a Sunday wanting to be connected to a shoe store in Hawaii. She didn't want to listen to my telling her that there is a 6 hour time difference and the store probably wasn't open at 1:30 am there. So I connected her like she requested. 5 minutes later she called back demanding a refund and trying to complain that I gave her the wrong number because no one answered the phone there.

Then there was the woman that was having problems dialing Disney's Magic Kingdom because she thought she needed to dial 011 before dialing the Florida number. It turned out she thought she needed to make an international call to reach them. As she explained to me, "America is a democracy and doesn't have any kingdoms."

It may have been disabled to make sure it worked smoothly. We haven't been told.

Pie in the sky wishful thinking has me hoping they have more discounted transfer fees planned or dare I say it maybe even (pretty please) some free transfers, and they don't want any impatient players complaining that they feel cheated because they bought their transfers before the "surprise" was activated.

But the most likely reason is that they want to make sure there are no bugs.
  5. No transfers are not working yet between NA and EU servers.

No we haven't been told why.

Yes this is the 7th or 8th thread asking the same question and the answer has been the same each time it's been asked.

I don't want to be draining myself for silly ammounts of end. I don't want to have to herd team mates just so they can get their mez shield which makes my life easier as well as theirs. This way, I can pick those who need it NOW, like the squishies, and cast exactly as many times as I need.

This is as bad an idea as the one where MM pets get AoE buffed (insane end cost, doesn't scale for when you only need to buff the two that died mid fight, idiot idea...)

I'll leave the details like that to the people that actually work with the code. I wouldn't presume to think I knew how to do it.

Sorry to disagree with you A_F, but this is no different than the character name purge they have run twice in the past. Same rules should apply here that applys to them.

    Salt.

Plain ol' iodized salt. Useful for cooking and preservation of both vegetables and meats as well as being necessary for survival. Also makes a handy currency if needed. Throw in a couple 50 gallon drums of the stuff and you'd be well set. Maybe get one drum of unrefined sea salt for variety and micronutrient need.

Salt falls under the sub-heading of supplies which I hadn't bothered to list because there are just too many different things to stock up on.

One of the things I forgot to mention was a decent sized septic tank. Say 60,000 gallons with pump and an aerobic treatment system.

Thanks. I don't remember that, but I didn't watch every single episode.

It's not as straight forward as that.

SG1 and SGA are different show types. And they are different genres.

    SGU is a drama serial.
SG1 and SGA are more comedy one-shot stories

When you switch like that you are going to get a massive negative feedback and it's going to take a while to get numbers back, much longer than a new brand.
I'm not disagreeing with you about that, because a lot of what you said is right. Just pointing out that going by what keeps a show on the air which is the number of viewers the previous shows had it while SGU didn't.

People seem to have that problem from time to time. Try using paypal.
  13. All in favor of running the script again, but no need to limit themselves to 3+ years. Just don't be surprised when you still can't get the names you want because they are still being used by active players.

The devs datamining from the last name wipe showed that nearly all the names freed were garbage names like kjygfkuyrtut or SG Filler 1 from throwaway characters on trial accounts or RMT sites.

What about them? They never went into detail about what their powersource was as I recall. If they did need to recharge off the city's grid they wouldn't use more than a fraction of power, and then only when they need to be recharged.

But for all we know they have their own power cells on a much smaller scale than the ZPM's and just like them they could last for years before needing to be replaced.

So sorry to disappoint you but that isn't the huge Gotcha you want to think it is.

as for the likeable characters... bwah hahahahahahahaha, good one, well written, an excellent lampooning of cliché ridden drivel.

Awww sour grapes huh. No matter how much you want to trash those two shows the simple fact remains that they had fanbases large enough to keep them on the air for years. (SG1 - 10 years, SGA - 5 years) While SGU which aired Oct, 2009 didn't have the fanbase to keep it from getting cancelled 1 year later in Dec, 2010.

So as much as it galls you, yes the viewers felt the shows were better written and had more likable characters.

Now that the city is on earth at some point they will finally figure out the trick of it and be able to manufacture them to order.
Weren't they also getting power from that underwater facility after they found it?

Like Memphis_Bill said way back before this game even launched it originally had a more "free-form" power scheme. But it quickly became clear during beta testing that everyone would simply min/max their characters and there was no good way to balance that. They scrapped the idea in favor of the AT/Powerset system we have now.

Champions Online arguably tried a free-form powers system as well. It also arguably failed, at least in part, because that system ultimately proved to be too problematic. That game has now fallen back to a more "archetype" class structure in its reworked F2P format.

I'm honestly not too familiar with DCUO so I don't know anything about the "fight style" thing you mentioned. Still I'd have reservations about any kind of free-form power system, even one that was only kinda, sorta free-form like you're implying here, based on the relatively bad track record they've had so far.

Bottomline I think free-form game systems work much better in "pen-n-paper" settings because you can have a human GM control things directly and make rulings on the fly to maintain balance. I've yet to see an automated MMO game manage the same flexibility required to prevent "tank-magery" from taking over. I think this is one of those ideas that always sounds better on paper than it actually is in reality. *shrugs*

They reworked every melee attack set in AE specifically to ensure that no custom enemies could be stuck in a situation where they're unable to attack, and yet it's still okay for players to be in that position for some reason? Makes no sense to me.

As I've mentioned in other threads, I'd like to see a new Assault/Defense AT at some point... but I've got no real desire for a pick-your-own-power system.

    Transfers

Now this is just wild speculation on my part but maybe they plan to do something special with transfers like another discount or <fingers crossed> dare we hope some free transfers and they want to make sure they work before giving them to us.
  21. I know we could do it on the old forums because I did it, but I don't know if we have that option here.

Sorry to sound callous to your personal situation but intentions don't pay the bills. Furthermore you don't own the characters, names, or costumes. Read the EULA.

Nope. They had much better writing staff. Good writing, likeable characters, and solid entertaining episodes makes the fans much more lenient and forgiving.

The only thing that irritated me was when they realized they screwed up and made Zats too powerful (1 shot stuns, 2 shots kill, 3 shots disintegrates) then pretended it never happened. They should have realized that was a bad idea to begin with.
