I'm all in favor of having the devs run another name purge that includes all characters between levels 1 thru 50 if for no other reason than to listen/read the howls of frustration and angry posts when the whiners and crybabies find out that the name they want is still being used by an active account.

Quote:Let's see what part of my post did you not read?Well, what about the parent that plays the child's account to learn a bit about the game they allow them to play?.
Quote:<bleep>'em. Letting someone else use your account can get your account banned. Read the EULA. It's under Member Conduct, item x. If they aren't paying for their own account they have no rights. The only time this is overlooked is when it's a parent paying for a childs account. -
The game already has automatic prompts that ask us we we are sure we want to delete Salvage, Recipes, and Enhancements, etc.
You chose to turn those prompts off.
So you have no one to blame but yourself for deleting that purple recipe.
The devs do not need to add a new feature on top of the pre-existing one that does the exact same thing as the feature you turned off.

Quote:His comment was an addition to my list of questions about how they could (speculating of course) implement costume slots and the varying issues. I don't think it was specifically to say "It should be done this way", it was simply something I had not thought of.Quote:Side note. Lets say they were implemented like that, they could add them like they currently do with purchased character slots, where you have to claim them on whatever server you want them on, and then after that perhaps they would have you select which character you want the costume slot on, on that specific server.Quote:I'm opposed to anything that requires me to get empyreans to unlock it outside of the incarnate system.Quote:/agreed.
Toss one in per costume pack. Let me buy a bunch of them at once. I'd go for *maybe* one in the Incarnate system given that they're giving armor for that, but the others should be much more easily available, much earlier.Quote:As another idea for getting "costume slots via non-microtransaction methods" they could easily be retrofitted as Vet awards. Costume slots would make perfect Vet awards because they would provide an extra benefit without being overpowering or "unfair" to anyone. We already get an extra character slot for every 12 months of Vet status. They could follow that precedent by giving us an extra account-wide costume slot for our characters every 12 months as well.
If costume slots (like character slots) were obtainable as both microtrasactions AND Vet awards then everyone would be happy. You could either buy them now or get them for no additional charge as Vet awards. -
Quote:I didn't say Schindlers list was too realistic. I said I don't find it believable that Eric would attack and kill everyone in the room except the guy that murdered his mother.I'm guessing Shagster is pointing Schindler's List specifically *because* its different: its different in that Schindler's List explicitly holds itself out to be a small dramatization of real world events, whereas X-Men First Class obviously doesn't. Therefore any objection that the scene with Erik is unrealistic due to his reactions ought to go double for the actions of the people in Schindler's List. You can't say Schindler's List is too realistic to complain about the realism: at that point you're in reality is unrealistic territory.
-
Quote:Have you seen the movie Shindler's List?
If so, did you find it unrealistic that the prisoners in the camp, including the children, didn't resort to biting and kicking against the nazi guards and administrators of the camp in response to similar moments of brutality and cruelty?
Schindler's List is a film about real person. X-Men is a film about super heros/villains from a comic book. I'm sorry that you are unable to tell the difference between the two. -
Quote:With all due respect Bill, You can go to the Hollows. I refuse to set one virtual pixilated foot in there. The air smells funny and leaves an unpleasent metallic taste at the back of my characters virtual throats, and all the contacts look shifty and untrustworthy. They aren't they type of imaginary people I want my make-believe characters associating with. With the hollows, you can at least go talk to wincott ahead of time and not take any missions. He doesn't pester you with a popup, doesn't take an arc slot, and behaves properly as a contact by shuffling off to inactive after a while.

Quote:No they haven't. Only one thing was added to the game that one dev said would never happen and that was inherent Fitness.I agree with you.. Although, within the last year or so, many of these so called "Taboo things the devs will never change" have actually been changed.. So I wouldn't be surprised if they increased it... Not gonna hold my breath though.
Power Customization was never taboo.
Weapon Customization was never taboo.
Global Email was never taboo.
Side Switching was never taboo.
Merging the market was never taboo.
Joining the EU and NA server lists was never taboo.
Lowering the EAT unlock level was never taboo.
The truth is that everything other than inherent fitness that people try to point at and claim the devs said would never happen are really things the devs said they would like to do in the future but they simply didn't have either the time or resources to commit to them because they weren't a priority at that time. Other things were more important.
As soon as those features became a priority they commited the time and resources to them to get them in the game as soon as possible. -
Quote:/ThisThe only kids movies I can really get into are the ones that also have something for adults, as if the filmmakers have thrown in a couple things for the grown-ups who have to watch these things over and over. I like half of what Pixar does for this very reason, and I think the best Disney animated film ever made is The Emperor's New Groove.
But when I go back and try to rewatch stuff I loved in my youth, like Speed Racer or Yamato, I just can't get into that mindset because there's nothing adult there to hang my interest on. Whereas something like the Adam West Batman series, I loved it just as much when I saw it as an adult, because I finally got the jokes.
That's why the original cartoons like Looney Tunes are timeless. They were made to entertain adults as well as kids, and as we grow up we start appreciating the deeper meaning of the comedy. -

The only time this is overlooked is when it's a parent paying for a childs account. One minor problem. Some accounts have more than one player using it. Therefore, people that have just started using their friend's account would miss out on it.
Quote:Also, there are people that have mostly played hero side and decided to join the dark side. There are a vet, but have missed out on that content. -
Quote:Don't forget if they are per character and you can buy more than one at a time will we be able to assign them individually to characters as we see fit.I've wanted them for a long time too, but I obviously would still prefer to not pay for them. If they did add them for purchase, it would really depend on how they implemented it (ie. how many do you get? how much will they cost? would it be account wide, per server, or per character?).

Quote:Sure, but I think the whole point of Strax's mini-character arc is that he's growing beyond that view. He grumbles about his job, but he seems to enjoy it on some level, or at least takes pride in doing it well -- note how eager he was to show off his mad lactating skillz.
And when he dies in battle, he admits its not as glorious as its "supposed" to be. He's not a mindless cog in the Sontaran war machine any more. He and Rory are kindred spirits: The warrior who had to become a nurse, and the nurse who's had to become a warrior. Neither of them chose their fates, but they're making the best of it. It's one of the best moments in an episode full of great moments.
Of course Strax takes pride in doing his job well. He's a Sontaran. To do any less than strive to be the best nurse he can be would only further the dishonor to his clone batch.
Quote:And when he dies in battle, he admits its not as glorious as its "supposed" to be.
Strax - It's strange . . . I often dreamed of dying in combat . . . I'm not enjoying it as much as I hoped.
Rory - C'mon Strax . . . Don't give up.
Strax - It's alright, I've had a good life . . . I'm nearly 12.
Rory - Listen to me. You'll be back on your feet in no time. You're a Warrior.
Strax - Rory, I'm a nurse.
He said he's not enjoying dying in combat like he thought he would. He never said anything about his death not being glorious.
And what Strax said is true about a lot of soldiers. Many if not all have thought about how they might die but they have a tendency to overlook the harsh reality of what it will actually feel like to be mortally wounded. -
No offense intended but Ironiks 2 years older than me as well and I agree with his opinion about the Goonies. Nothing wrong with it but I was to old to enjoy it. Maybe if I was 10 years younger when it came out I'd have liked it.
-
Quote:I didn't say the Sontarran said "just a nurse" to Rory. I said I would have cheered if Rory said that back to him.He didn't say "just a nurse"...he simply said "Rory, I'm a nurse." I took it to mean, "I'm a nurse, I know how bad my injuries are, so don't B.S. me that I'm going to be fine."
Edit: Just for clarification. For Sontarrans being demoted to a nurse and helping the weak and sick is the greatest punishment they can endure. -

I like the way the devs have it set up now. By making it a bigger PITA to delete items it encourages all but the most stubborn people to either put their stuff up on the market, or sell it at an NPC store. -
Quote:To be honest I found that scene to be extremely insulting, and I would have stood up and cheered if Rory had told the Sontarran he was also "just" a nurse.I also liked Rory being reminded he's not a warrior, he's a nurse.
It's a special type of hero whose first instinct is to hell with his or her own safety and charge the gates of hell to save someone else. They rarely get the recognition they deserve. In America we call the Corpsmen, Medics, or just plain Doc.
That's why Rory is a hero.
That's why Amy loves him.
That's why people are jealous of him. -
Quote:The only reason I remembered the NCcoins are because of the discussions a few years ago when people were asking if they were being added to this game because our EULA specifically mentioned them.I'm reading this and going "Oh, god, not that." Since, to me, that's one step closer to the F2P trash heap. (And irritating in the same way that the Incarnate "Hey, let's add Incarnate Pizza, and Incarnate this, and incarnate that, and nothing else can use it!" salvage nonsense is in-game.)
Quote:... then you wouldn't be the target audience for this, would you. You're arguing that people who buy pickup trucks should have to go through extra licensing and fees, then going "but I drive nothing but compacts." Why are you arguing to make something more tedious/expensive that you wouldn't use anyway?
Quote:Eh?
CHARACTER slots are, sure. Costume slots? I don't recall most other games (which tend to be *gear based*) offering costume slots. More like "if you have a decorative item or want a different look, use up some of your (universal) storage. For instance, Aion - you can purchase items and "combine" them with your armor that give a different look, or wear them separately - but there's no "costume slot." Keeping it takes up storage. Or, games will have potions that act like our halloween costume temp powers and just replace your model - but that's nothing like a "costume slot." The only other one I can think of that had anything close to the same was APC, which gave far *more* slots than we have.
Now they sell them accout wide but and I was thinking individually could be a lot cheaper, but that brings us back to the CC transaction fee which I wasn't aware had such a huge impact. -
/Yes to all the above but can we throw in that annoying trip to the Hollows as well? I'm sick of wasting a drop mission on it everytime I start a new character.
-
-
Quote:Okay. I admit I was unaware that CC processing fees would make items that price not worth the effort. Although if NCCoin is still being used they could in theory use that instead. A player could buy the NCCoin in $5, $10. etc amounts then "spend" the coin on items that were effectively one or two bucks. For example say $5 bucks gets you 500 NCCoins and an extra costume slot costs 100 NCCoins.Seem to recall a prior discussion where $1-$2 charges tend not to be worth it due to credit card processing fees. So, I wouldn't expect anything under $5, minimum - and I certainly wouldn't purchase that *per character.*
The coins could be saved and spent at any time, and they could even add a way to earn NCCoins in the game. Tho I would make the NCCoin reward either very low, or the amount of whatever you need to convert into NCCoin very high to minimize farming abuse.
Quote:Besides, I know full well other NC games do that - look at Aion. Want a weapon skin? Works for one character. One weapon. $10. Dye? Pack of 5, which is just enough to do one armor set... for one character. $10. Guess what I don't tend to buy. If costume packs were being sold at $10 for a character - or even $5 - I wouldn't touch them. The only things we see charged per character are transfers and renames. Far different category than (game-internal) costume slots... which, again, go right along with booster packs, logically. ("New costume bits for all your characters to use - and here are more slots for all your characters, now and in the future, to use.)
Quote:Are you with the implication, intended or not, that the game is *not* making money now and so must charge for every little thing - much like a F2P game would?
And no I don't think the game should charge for every little thing, but I've always wondered why extra costume slots weren't included with our store because they seem to be a standard item for sale in the industry. -
Quote:/HELL YEAH!Now who else want's to see the continuing adventures of the Silurian and her maid in the 1800's.
I always knew he had it in him.
Quote:I really like what they did with Rory the last episode:
Amy talking to Melody about "he" who's coming for them. Who appears young but is hundreds of years old and is Melody's father. We are being set up for her to say "The Doctor", but she says, "The Last Centurion".
Badass standing up to Cybermen.
The scene with River where she realizes she's alone with... her dad, but can't say anything... "Rory.."
When the Silurian says the Doctor has never risen so high, and Rory turns with a look that brings to mind that "OH SH..." moment because of River saying that means he will fall so far.
Rory kissing and crying.
Rory getting The Doctor to break up the hug.
Good stuff. -
Other than generating some more income for the game.
Quote:ESPECIALLY when costume *packs* are account wide... and these are the perfect accompaniment TO them. Making them per character (in a game that really pushes alts) would DIScourage their purchase.
Quote:Oh, did we go F2P at some point?
*checks* nope, seems I still have a sub payment to make. -
