What you don't think that MMO players that are on tight budgets don't look at Lifetime Subs as a way to minimize their monthly expenditures over the long run? Sure it's $200-$300 up front today but after a year they are playing for free. And when compared to the $1260 I've spent keeping this account active. Yeah I'll find a way to scrape together the cash for an LTS somehow.
Many MMO players simply look at LTS's as a bargain that only costs the same as a years sub. -

Quote:Downloading the film and documenting when each scene starts and stops does not prove you actually "watched" the film.Green Lantern parts pertinent to the story they were trying to tell...
33:30 minutes
This excludes the party scene, Hammonds/Hal fight at cadmus, and Hammond/Hal talk-fight
Time devoted to Carol and Hal's relationship...
14 minutes
Time Devoted to Hammond... (and still badly developed)
32 minutes
Time spent with Kilowog...
2 minutes
How bout this ones... Scene time where scenes are not messed up in any way, either by acting, editing, writing, directing, bad story, or bad graphics...
2:15
I actually thought there'd be more than that but i guess not... there is a lot of really badly placed comedy, bad editing, and characters not acting right...
46 minutes could have been just removed...the Carol and Hammond scenes
here's the full time line

Quote:The best even the strongest, but not brain-dead skeptics, should be saying is "you'll see, come late 2012, you'll see."
But I guess that doesn't really have the same punch, does it.
Well after 7 years of Doomies predicting the game will fail 6 months later it's hard to find any skeptical prediction believable. -
Oh and technically there are no EU servers. A while back they were moved to the US, so all the servers have been NA servers for some time. They just finally merged the server lists recently. To everyones joy.

Quote:Don't like it? Tough turnips. The guy admitted that something was his belief and that he had no hard data and you're asking him for unbiased sources?
That's like me saying "I believe in unicorns, no I don't have any proof." Then you're all like, "SHOW ME EVIDENCE," and I'm all like... "ASDFGHJK!" -
Quote:For a solid game, I think that offering lifetime subscriptions is a terrible idea at launch. For a bad game, they probably work out okay at launch.
Well there's no way to really know if a game will be a huge success at launch so a limited time offer of lifetime subs then can help a new game recoup its development costs faster.
A popular game will attract enough players to negate the longterm effects of the few lifetime subbers.
An unpopular game will go the route of a certain other super hero game we can't mention here. -
Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the energy set originally a water set when the game was being developed?

Quote:Please provide links to the unbiased third party company that interviewed the entire CoH community, and collated the datamining that proves beyond any shadow of doubt that the number of customers that would take advantage of a lifetime subscription is as you are claiming a small portion of the customer base.I believe, in the absence of hard data, that the small portion of the COHF community that would take advantage of a lifetime subscription plan would not reach the point of negitive returns for the company.

Yeah that's what I thought. -

Quote:Nope. I was responding mockingly to another posters simplistic and nonsensical solution.Simplistic and nonsensical question. You seem to be assuming that meeting someone in real life DOES let you know if you can trust them or not.
Quote:1. Don't invite strangers
Quote:Both in real life and online, you use your judgement. Yes, that will result in some SG's getting robbed. Guess what, people get robbed in real life by people they trust EVERY SINGLE DAY. -
And I don't see the logic in giving unlimited access to people that aren't subscribing to the game.
-
I'm surprised that none of the bleeding hearts haven't called me a monster because RMTers are chinese politacal prisoners that are being forced to play MMO's and my idea will prevent them from making their quotas and result in them getting beaten by the guards.

Not making the devs do work to accomplish a task that whose end result already exists in the game is a win/win for me. That means they can dedicate their time and resources on something else that isn't in the game yet.
Quote:New players can join social networks. They just have to prove they won't abuse the privilege by making an investment in the game: either an investment of time or an investment of money. Once they've put down the security deposit, the doors to the social networks start to open. -
-
Quote:Or the devs can leave it as it is which requires no additional work and accomplishes the same thing cuz if they can't join an SG they can't be promoted. This is why I suggested that free players be allowed to enter SG's, but will not be eligible for promotions. Also, seeing as he had 3 weeks invested in the SG, it seems like limiting trial players away from SG's would not have helped stop that particular theft.
Win/Win
Edit: Also just after the Super Leader rank went live there were a few disputes where a couple trusted leaders stole SG's when they got automatically promoted by being the last/first person to logon/off. And there was one case where the new Super Leader kicked everyone from the SG and then quit himself so everything in the base was deleted. -
More access to channels seems like a good incentive to upgrade ones account/keep a current account active to me. If two people aren't on at the same time they won't show up in global channels anyway but they can send offline tells to get in touch.
-
Quote:Ah. I see what your saying now. Thanks for clarifying that.I don't either. In fact I'm all for it. What I'm asking for is that if someone else doesn't mind waiting 21 months (or whatever) to get that Samurai Armor, they have the option of doing so and getting it anyway so they can spend their Paragon Points on something else.

Quote:Oh I admit I said that about F2P more than a few times myself a few years ago, but as time passed and subs slowly got lower it changed from it'll never happen, to I hope it never happens, to if it does happen I hope they blah blah blah.I guess we'll see when it happens. I mean folks were all smarty-pants on the "this game will never have FTP" and look what just got announced. They have to draw in the subs and what better way to do it then unleash the unexpected!

Quote:Instead of silly little Rularuu the Ravager, how about something more fearsome?
Perhaps send in an AV class Willy Wheeler or Hero class Fusionette? Or an AV class Rikti Monkey who will then collapse in front of the spammer and fwoof him to death.
I suggested Rularuu the Ravaber simply because
1. he's the biggest AV in the game, so his appearance wouldn't be missed
and
2. They wouldn't have to create something from scratch to do it. -
Quote:First off thanks for taking time to clarify your question. You completely missed the point I was making to Yellowbeard.
Let me pose the question another way:
What players wanting a life-time-subscription asking for?- Is it to play the game without charge?
- Or is it to get all the bonus's of playing the game without charge?
Depending on your vet status you "probably" aren't loosing anything that you've already gained in game.
And if anything you may be able to save some cash just buying new staff out of Paragon Points.
Now, if a person is looking to get all of the bonus's for having a subscription without paying the costs of a subscription... now we are back to why Life-time Subscription are a BAD FINANCIAL IDEA.
An idea that has been shot down by anybody who has participated in Economics 001. Not necessarily graduated mind you... but participated.
Now I'm pretty confident we can assume that the answer people will give to your question is the second one and I agree that it's a bad financial idea unless there are extreme restrictions as to whom it is offered as well as only for a limited time frame. -
Wrong.
Until the game goes F2P there has been nothing preventing trial users from posting on the forums. Many have posted asking various questions and gotten answers from our friendly community.
So please post links to the threads where they have complaind on the forums about the trial account restrictions. I can't remember seeing any and would appreciate seeing them if I missed them.
