Wasn't the last thing the devs were doing on the trial server was giving out a whole bunch of Incarnate stuff dirt cheap so players could test out the I20.5 content?
Maybe the OP is mad because he just found out he has to earn it like everyone else does on the live servers. -

Were you able to post that with a straight face?
Quote:Which of course I never implied, but don't let that get in your way. The U.S. has roughly five times the population of the U.K. On that basis alone, success in the U.S. is appreciably bigger than success in the U.K.
Nationalism has very little to do with the entertainment industry. The audiences have always been a global community. Radio, t.v., or movies you can't stop the signal. -
Quote:Which means absolutely nothing since shows get aired globally in countries all around the world.Which of course I never implied, but don't let that get in your way. The U.S. has roughly five times the population of the U.K. On that basis alone, success in the U.S. is appreciably bigger than success in the U.K.
We won't even mention the number "American" shows are in reality made in Canada. -

Quote:Let me correct one thing here. I'm not referring to nostalgia. What I'm talking about is how certain shows broke the mold and set the stage for what future shows tried to imitate and improve upon. They're Iconic.Fair enough. A solid argument. While I believe that... impact a show had on it's watchers
is an important measurement by which to judge a program.. I don't feel it should be the only factor. I don't believe nostalgia should play that important of a role. Because people can be impacted by a show... who's quality was actually rather poor at the time.
Otherwise... the original BSG would be getting much more credit than the new adaptation of it.
Quote:*edit* Might I also add that... while it may not have had 30 years to influence it's viewers... it did make quite an impact. I've seen pages and pages of text filled with nothing but theory's as to the mysteries happening on that island. People didn't just watch the show, they obsessed over it.
Quote:Wow, I thought 4400 was really entertaining. And Heroes... well... it had it's ups and downs, that's all I'll say about it here.
Quote:Agreed. A list with no explanations for their choices is not a very good list at all.
Oh and I just got a copy of Space Battleship Yamato 2010 and it's GORRAM AWESOME!
I can't understand a word of it cuz my copy is in Japanese but it's FRELLING AMAZING to watch!
I eagerly await my chance to get a copy in English or at least with subtitles.

Of course silly Zombie. Everyone that has watched Futurama knows that Humans have DNA or deoxyribonucleic acid, and robots have RNA or roboribonucleic acid.
We also know that during one of the Tales of Interest the Professor used the What If Machine to find out what would happen if Bender was turned into a human.
So robot to human mapping is really no big deal. -
Quote:There are simply other shows that had a bigger impact on shaping what we know as Sci-Fi. Impacts that spanned generations. Lost isn't one of those shows.May I ask why you feel this way? Personally, I feel that Lost was one of the better written shows out there, let alone one of the better written *Scifi* shows. Their character development alone absolutely destroys half of the shows on your list.
Quote:Granted... most of the shows you listed are good, some even great. But that's how good Lost was. I highly recommend you watch the show before you spew forth more opinions about it.
Quote:Also, thank you for this. You made me laugh pretty damn hard.
The person that posted that list made no mention of the criteria that was used to decide what shows made his list. -
-
No that's Angeline done up as Scarlett Witch. She's Flexo's ex-wife. Bender and Flexo fought over her love.
Yeah her name's Petunia. Bender fixed her up with Fry for a date one episode. -

Quote:Leela as Rogue?? You lose a nerd card for mistaking the Phoenix as anyone else.
Oh noes! I lost a nerd card I guess I'll just have to hide my shame in the ample bosum of a hot chick.
So I made a few errors. Big deal. I'm drawing on 20 year old memories. I haven't picked up an X-Men comic since the mid 1980's. All in all I think I did pretty good. -
Quote:Too bad. Your personal preferences don't change the simple fact that there are dozens of Sci-Fi shows that are actually far more deserving of consideration and belong on that list more than Lost. Hell I'd say that at least half the shows on that list need to be replaced. The posters criteria are blatantly biased and offers no explanation as to how the list was compiled other than his own personal opinion.I disagree with the people saying Lost doesn't deserve to be on the list.

Quote:Bender as ColossusPart of the reason I posted this, other than its awesomeness, was to tap the group mind and name them all.

From the bottom, left to right:
Zoidberg as Wolverine
Amy as Pyslocke
Fry as Cyclops
Hypnotoad as Havok
The Professor as... the Professor (X)
and Nibbler as Lockheed

IMHO that's the only good thing to come from that list, but even then the amount of prestige getting taken out of the system is nowhere near enough to even remotely be significant.
-
Quote:I already do this, but when the seven other people on my team are all friends from global channels it's hard to keep track of who is who. I don't want to keep referring to them by their character name or having to check globals all the time.Quote:Not attacking or anything - but I guess I don't see what's the big deal in calling people by their character names. I don't RP much, but I do RP at least to the extent of calling the character by its name and using the appropriate gender (i.e., using "she" for a female character, even if I know the player is male). I'm trying to understand why it's that important to keep track of globals instead of character names.
-
Quote:But again, that brings up the question of - "So what?"
So someone burns a few billion on the conversion. Does it *matter* that they made 150 million Prestige with a better rate as opposed to 40 million, just to make up some numbers?
They're at the top of a pointless list. So what?
They get to dainty up their base a bit faster. So what?
Why should everyone *else* be penalized - and I don't think you'll find many that say that isn't a highly punitive rate - because a *few* might be able to rush getting a *second* large meeting room or something? It has no effect on anyone else, and if it's designed as an INF sink (which, really, it is,) it has so far failed pretty miserably overall because *of* that rate.
Change the rate to make it more attractive to use, pulling more INF out of the system so some private bases can be made more "homey" more quickly.
There really *isn't* a downside here.
Since the amount of prestige an SG has earned is meaningless, how about the devs just get rid of the stupid list? -

There are plenty of tools we can use to get global names. Why not use the notes feature to Star people you like. You'll see the star and know it's a buddy. If ya really need his global after that the notes feature also tells you what it is. -
And there isn't any number of things that could also be going wrong and cause the game to crash on the players end other than memory.
Personally I think the game engine is having panic attacks over the upcoming conversion to F2P. -
Quote:ThisSo, you'd be perfectly happy if, say, you just worked up an Inv/SS tank... only to have INV completely changed? Say, they decide Inv needs an aura that has a *physical* AOE effect on the enemies, and turn Dull Pain into Safety Zone, which does an AOE Knockback instead of the heal/hp boost?
Or maybe take Kinetics and turn Fulcrum Shift into a sort of Group Fly?
"Oh, I'm not talking about that, I'm talking about minor changes." If you're talking about changes to magnitude, the ever popular-to-whine-about request to change KB to KD, or changes like Electric Aura got (which changed a power *name* when they turned Conserve Power into Energize - END discount to END Discount *and a heal,*) you're not having a problem with the cottage rule. If you're talking about (say) Hide losing its end cost, you're not talking about the cottage rule. The base purpose of the power stays the same.
Do you know WHY (hint, *especially in this day and age of sometimes very expensive IO sets, for instance,) the "Cottage rule" exists? And exactly how many times it's been violated? (Once, *maybe* twice - Fold Space getting removed completely, Wormhole being moved into place and Gravity getting a pet is the only single instance I can think of, and that was an Issue 0/Issue 1 change.)
Little history for you:
When the devs added a fifth power in the Patron (and later Epic) pools, they didn't do so because they thought "Oh, a fifth power would be great." No. In beta (closed, at the time,) they *flat out replaced* a slew of powers. For instance, my Ice/Psy/Mace Dom had her Disruptor Blast just *replaced* with a Personal Force Field. I had no use for it, they removed a source of damage, and irritated the hell out of me. And that was one of several "we think it's useless so we're going to replace it" powers. They got a VERY good, firsthand reminder of why they should NOT just do outright power replacements, as most of those in the beta at the time were calling out for blood.
You'll notice five powers in those pools now, which by *increasing* choice is a FAR better solution.
Also, you don't "get" what Null does. NULL DOES NOT CHANGE THE POWER. He removes ONLY a movement buff *from you.* The power itself is the same - and, frankly, was useful before *AND IS STILL USEFUL* (just ask a Stone tank what they'd think if the devs just did a universal removal of the speed buff from Speed Boost.) Null is as much an argument "for removing the cottage rule" as the moon being round is for buying tennis shoes.
Remember, your "terrible" power is one that someone else *likes* and *uses.* The devs have to have a very good reason (such as a power directly counteracting an AT or powerset's abilities to a debilitating degree) before they'd likely look at it. "I don't like it when other people knock back a target," for instance, is not that sort of issue.

Quote:This is also a possibility.Only time I used to have this issue was on my older video cards with some dark powers and Electric Control. Anytime say a Dark Armor toon or a fluffy would be on screen, my frame rates would dramatically drop. Anytime I teamed with or played Electric Control and AOEs from that powerset were thrown around, my screen would fill with really bad graphic animations and I swear I had single digit framerates.
Then I upgraded to a new computer and better video card and all that went away. My suggestion to you, post your system specs in the technical forums and ask there for help. Also in the meantime, make sure you have the latest drivers that currently work with the game. Newest isnt always the best. Stick with the latest drivers that are confirmed to work properly with the game and beware updating unless absolutely needed. -
No can't say that I've ever had that problem. Sounds like a bug.

Quote:Due to finances I am going to have to cancel my account and take advantage of the free option for a few months. Don't care if don't get any special rewards or what not as I have several heroes that need to continue on to 50. My question is if you are only allowed 2 heroes to play on the free option how is it determined which two you get to play. I play entirely on Freedom and I don't feel like re-rolling a hero on another server and going thru the grind all over again. Any ideas or has anybody heard how this will be implemented ???
I've seen other people ask this so I'll mention it here just in case there is any doubt. Once you pick the characters you want to unlock you can't switch them out with another character.
If they allowed that no one would bother unlocking more slots, nor would they have any incentive to upgrade to a Premium or VIP account. -
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the Inf:Prestige ratio is working as intended. We may not like the amount, but it isn't broken. Furthermore since it's stupidly easy for players to aquire billions of influence with only the smallest amount of effort, and the lowering of base rents to practically nothing it's highly unlikely that the devs will ever give lowering the conversion ratio any serious thought.
