Pointing out the simple fact that prestige has no meaning other than how much income a base has to spend on does not remotely equate to hate.
Quote:As a sometime SG leader, I like to know. If only to say "Hey xxxx you've forgotten to toggle SG mode."
Quote:I guess the nay-sayers must have had some negative SG experiences. -
Quote:Sure as long as the test server is restricted to VIP players. Why? Simply because if they let free players access to items that have to be purchased on the live servers they will simply play only on the test server.Incidentally, I hope the Test server can be used to...well...TEST stuff before we buy it for real on Live.
VIP's are already making a financial commitment and will be less likely to use the test server as a way to get access to stuff without paying for it. -
I need to see all the new stuff being added before I make any commitments. I already have all the existing booster items.

Quote:/This.I agree with the overarching sentiment above: the update is somewhat ugly and unnecessary.
I will say what I said in another thread as well: Were these pieces used in smaller doses (a few pieces per character) and a global update to the CoT was done, I would likely LOVE the change... but to overhaul them completely and just slap them in head-to-toe of a single set... with a single set of colors looks bad. This outfit does NOT befit the CoT I know. -
Quote:It's much easier to do that in real life than on the internet. I've long past the point of trying anymore and accepting that people will feel whatever they want regardless of your intentions. That comes from a mix of experience and old age but I accept blame for my own part in the attitude.Valid point... the important thing, I suppose is that you know you are being a mite unreasonable in your expectations... the fact that I sorta knew that helps. But I suspect a great many people get so frustrated with you (from what I have seen) because they have no clue how you are actually approaching a topic. Dunno if that at all matters to you, but it might cause fewer arguments if you make that clear now and again.
I guess I'm abrasive like sand paper. Ya don't want to wipe your butt with it but it sure can smooth the rough edges off of things.
Edit: Just to clarify on when I said, "I've long past the point of trying anymore" It's because I came to the conclusion that it's an exercise in futility. -
Quote:You have valid points but from my perspective my pessimism allows me to be pleasantly surprised and even thrilled when what the devs give us is better than what I anticipated and merely resigned instead of outraged when they don't.@Forbin: While the general angle you are coming from relating to global storage is likely accurate... I think the specific things you are saying are a bit off the deep end in terms of magnitude and overly pessimistic with regard to the devolpment team's thinking. I would advise that you consider the history yourself a bit, because your assessment of the situation seems to be angled toward the most negative possible interpretation of everything that could happen were this suggestion to come to fruition (which it likely won't).
When life hands you lemons make lemonade and when it hands you limes cut them into slices and stick'em in your beer. -
In my prediction they didn't remove the Vault Reserve storage completely. Instead of having 50 available for each character they would change it to 50 global slots for the account.
This would be no more drastic a change than when they reduced the SG salvage bin storage capacity from 2,500 to 30.
Quote:Besides, wasn't there a "Remote Vault" perk listed on one of the Paragon Rewards tiers?
66 Month Rewards
- Enduring Badge
- +5 Salvage Inventory Slots
- +5 Recipe Inventory Slots
- +1 Auction House Inventory Slot
Under the new system they can break down the vet rewards into a whole lot of individual perks. -
Quote:NEWSFLASH!I'd be happy if this change happened. It seems unlikely to affect me, as nearly all the SGs I'm in are composed of myself and a few friends, but I know the frustration of putting time and effort into an SG, having a nice big number to show off as proof, and a simple mistake wiping it all away. I'm not sure how there could be any negatives tied to this change.
dit dit dit ditdit dit dit dit . . . Individual Prestige Earned does NOT represent how much time and effort a player puts into the game. Any SG member can easily get a high individual prestige earned by simply going to the SG Registrar and converting inf to prestige.
Individual earned prestige means squat. -
Quote:The thing is that if they go that route they will probably decide on the upper limit that they will allow and break it down into purchases accordingly.I could see them adding a small shared inventory as a purchaseable QoL perk once the new store launches.
For example
Say they pick 50 as the over all limit. They would then probably make the initial global inventory 10 or 20 slots with the option to buy extra slots in groups of 5 or maybe even 10 up to the maximum of 50.
And there's still a good chance that they'd still take something away from us in the process. I'm betting on the Vault Reserve because it's already set up with several access locations and it wouldn't break their rule on not letting us store recipes, which is another unilateral decision many players don't like. -
Quote:If anything I want the timer removed from sending items to MYSELF. I can see the timer being in place to cut down on gold farmers spam emailing people and spam in general but if its an email to myself then please let me send them to myself as quickly as I can type.
Yeah I never understood the need for the timer. We have filters that can block gold farmers and spammers. And there's a simple solution to blocking friends and SGmates from spamming you which is kicking them off your friends list or SG. -

Quote:Regardless what the logic has been for petty and unnecessary time wasters, I find them to be.... Well, petty and unnecessary.
Quote:In the past, you also used to have to pay your sub fee to log in any of your characters. Pretty soon that won't be the case anymore either.
Premium players will only get 2 character slots plus however many slots they purchased or unlocked.
Only VIP's will retain their 12 slots per server, all the extra slots they purchased or unlocked, and they will be given an additional 12 free slots and the ability to buy 24 more via the new VIP server.
Quote:All I'm saying is that moving forward, the devs should really consider the fact that we have all these inventory slots available to us anyways. With the exception of inspirations, all they are doing by making us e-mail one item at a time between characters is wasting our valuable in game time. Inspiration storage actually effects game play and should probably stay how it is.
Quote:So because the Dev's have shafted the community in the past in terms of an inventory increase, it means it will automatically happen again?
The devs do what they feel is best for the game and the direction they want to take it in. That means that there will always be people that disagree and feel like they are being screwed. -

Quote:Funny. The offending word in the movie title wasn't actually banned in this forum until the last round of policy changes.
You could use it just fine without the system auto-censoring it for years before that.

Well to be accurate profanity has always been against the rules, it's just that the enforcement of them has become much more draconian. -
/unsigned
I'd much rather they stop listing the prestige earned altogether. The days when it actually meant something haven't existed for years. All it does now is encourage elitism and snobbery. -
Amy didn't post the name because profanity is still against the forum rules. Just because the addition of "bad" and "dom" at the front and back of the word gets it around the profanity filter doesn't mean it's allowed.
Edit: and the mods already deleted one post where someone linked to the film after Amy declined out of consideration of the rules. -
If you are talking about the points you will get to spend on vet rewards, yes you will get them in advance when you prepay.
If you are talking about the 400 points they give to VIP's for having an active account, the last I heard was they get awarded each month on the date your account was started. So if you started your account on the 9th then each month on the 9th you'll get 400 points as long as the account is active. -
If it comes down to replacing the current base system with a new one the devs are in the unenviable position where no matter what they do some players will end up getting screwed.
There simply isn't any way that they can make sure everyone is notified and takes the time to get their bases in order for when the switch occurs. There will always be someone returning and pitching a fit because their base is gone with all it's stuff.
Heck, we're still seeing people return and getting upset because they got auto demoted from their SG leadership and the new SL kicked them for inactivity. -
Which is why NCSoft's EULA mentions copyright and trademark rights separately as well as regular IP rights. They are protecting themselves and putting us on notice about using names, costumes, bio's, AE missions . . . the works.

Below is the section of the EULA that addresses this topic.
Quote:You may not select as your Character Name the name of another person, or a name which violates any third party's trademark right, copyright, or other proprietary right, or which may mislead other players to believe you to be an employee of NC Interactive, or which NC Interactive deems at its sole discretion to be vulgar or otherwise offensive.
According to the above rules of the EULA we aren't allowed to use
1. Peoples names, meaning famous people.
2. A third parties Trademark, Copyright, or other IP right.
3. Anything being used officially by an NCSoft employee.
4. Anything vulgar or offensive.
I'm not saying I agree or disagree with it, just providing the info so the OP is aware of what is and isn't allowed.
Oh and it doesn't matter how long a person has had a character name. It can be genericed at any time. If you had a character name that isn't allowed for a while it just means you managed to stay under the radar for that long without getting brought to a GM's attention. It doesn't mean you have a right to keep the name. -
Saw the movie and loved it. I was actually upset when it ended because I was so caught up in the movie I never noticed the time passing by. I left the film wanting more.

Quote:Personal storage is already independent of SG's/bases. The Vault Reserve locations are as follows.Simple solution to that is to make personal storage be independent of SGs and/or bases. Put a vault in some building in each zone, problem solved.

Quote:Not a problem here. It's not like I can't simply take the stuff I have stored in my base an email it to my other characters. SG storage doesn't come remotely close to what we can store on an account using alts as storage mules.I wonder how many of those people with fancy yet illegal bases would be willing to have them wiped and start over in return for an actual solution, or if the time for that has (long) passed.
My only concern is that I hope the devs would consider compensating Super Leaders with pre-existing bases that get wiped so they don't have to start from scratch with the new system. -
Quote:Sorry but that's total bull. If they were separate games how were players able to create characters and "accidentally" be sent to the wrong faction? Many vet Virtue players remember going on blueside Hami raids with Saros an elec/elec Brute. I was in the same SG with him. I also recall doing a sewer run in AP with a Ninja MM named Master of Assassins.Separate game with completely different content. Not the same thing at all.
If the games were truly separate players wouldn't have been able to do that and the devs wouldn't have been forced to rewrite the code to stop people from making heroic villains and villainous heroes. -
Epic Archetypes are restricted to faction. Praetorians don't have any Epic Archetypes yet so you can't make any. We have no idea if the devs ever intend to make Praetorian EAT's and if so when.
