Quote:Actually since it would be a small claims case I kind of wish he'd take it to the People's Court so we could all watch him lose his case.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liebeck...7s_Restaurants
Please read the bit about "frivolous lawsuits"... -
Quote:And if you read the EULA it clearly states under member conduct that You agree not to use the Service to:But, that is something the child has to read and recognize to ask his parents about. There is nothing preventing them from logging in without parent consent, not even debit cards these days considering that they are so ubiquitous.
impersonate any person or entity, including, but not limited to, a NC Interactive employee, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity;
So that 13 year old that misrepresents himself as a parent or guardian runs the risk of getting his account banned if NCSoft discovers what he has done. -
Quote:You didn't buy the content. You paid an enrollment fee to join the CoH and CoV communities, and your monthly sub is the maintenance fee to keep your account active.I could have sworn that I paid about $50 for City of Villains and about $50 for City of Heroes, and an additional $30 for both with all 3-4 different versions I purchased over the years, which definitely included 5 archetypes each, "tanker, blaster, scrapper, defender AND controller" and "brute, corruptor, stalker, dominator AND mastermind".
This is no different than a gym membership. Just because you pay to join and again each month to stay an active member doesn't mean you own the gym equipment. -
Quote:I won't get annoyed but my response will be based on the rest of their communications. In game I'm a lot more lenient because I assume communications may be rushed because of combat or maybe English isn't their first language. So you'd be annoyed if someone asked which arch type would be best to go rouge with to run respects?
I will however flat out ignore people using IM or Leetspeak. If they want to speak in gibberish they can go play with the Gibbers. -
Quote:The devs have never said anything about how many subscribers we have. That info has always come from the parent company NCSoft itself. How many subscribers are there now? Have the devs said lately? Perhaps the ship has grown leakier than it appears.
If you want a rough idea of what our subs are at go read their most recent financial report, or use the search tool and read one of the posts where players discussed the topic. -
Quote:My point is, if a powerset costs 800 points and we get 400 points a month and they release a new powerset each and every month, we can never have them all without spending more money on it.
I'm not saying that is going to be the case because I, like everyone else have no idea at the pace new content will be added to the store.
What I am saying, is we need to wait and see - blindly saying eventually we can get it all for free if we are patient enough is not necessarily true and should not be advertised as such.
If the devs could crank out a NEW POWERSET each and every month I'd happily pay 1600 points a piece for them.
Hell I'd pay that if they could crank out high quality costume pieces that fast. -

Since they implemented the Super Leader rank and officially made it the defacto owner of an SG and everything it possesses they eliminated any other claims other SG members used to have. So this should be possible.

Slightly off topic, what are we going to do when Freedom goes live and people can't post rants on the forums because they let their accounts lapse?

Says, among many things, "New arcs once a month". I'm not sure exactly what is and is not included in the meaning of the word 'arcs', but if they are producing stuff faster than 'waiting for it' accumulates points to get it, then one still 'falls behind'. Further and further behind as time passes. That is the main point I was attempting to make. It may even be a tirivial/moot point to many.
I know that this is a difficult concept for some people to grasp but we don't have to buy everything they put out. -
Unexpected downtimes occur unexpectedly. That's why they're called unexpected.

Quote:Simple. The VIP's suffering "Gottahaveitnao!" whenever they see a new shiny will end up paying real money for the privilege of being the first to get it.Hmm. I wonder how this will affect the "generalist", i.e. the altoholic. I can see a possibility of 'needing' to spend one's PP on an excess of game components*, and thus the person who plays "all powersets across all archetypes" becoming less tenable than it is now. Which means that it could encourage people to "specialize" within the powersets/archetypes they do have access to.
Meanwhile the patient VIP's will simply wait a month or two and get the shiny for free. Heck the patient players may not even have to wait because they'll probably have a surplus of free points built up. -
I'm looking forward to the first dingleberry to complain on the forums that there are no names left on the VIP server because free/premium accounts are squatting on all the good names.
I give it a week maybe two at most after Freedom goes live. -

Quote:Brilliant.Well you see, the computer system for the FBSA is really old cannot handle a hero with multiple, significantly different power combinations and similarly cannot handle multiple heroes with the same name (it also can't handle four digit dates and so any heroes who registered in the year 2000 or later have a registration date of 19XX displayed on thier profile). As such heroes who have the ability to drastically alter their powers (for whatever reason) are legally required to register separate identities for each distinct power combination who are then considered different entities from a legal point of view.
This caused a major legal problem when one hero tried to sue his insurance company for damages after his primary suit of power armor was destroyed in a fight while he was using his secondary suit. He argued that since the two suits were separate legal entities the primary suit was technically owned by an innocent bystander and as such his accidental property damage insurance should cover his costs in replacing the primary suit.
In any case they've considered replacing the system but the only output drive on the old system uses 5.25" floppy disks and the entire supply of those in Paragon City (owned by a historic computer museum) was recently stolen in a surprise raid by the Nemesis Army. -
This isn't a QoL issue. It's a morality choice between being good or evil and not playing both sides. The complete names of the merits are Hero Alignment Merits and Villain Alignment Merits. Rogues and Vigilantes are not members of either faction and thus are by design not entitled to earn the merits.
You can argue all the excuses you want but it doesn't change he fact that the devs want you to choose to be either a hero or a villain in order to be eligible to get the merits. -
Yep. That's the choice Rogues and Vigilantes have to make. They can either remain between both factions and team and travel with everyone, or they can pick a side to get the benefit of A-merits. The system is working exactly as the devs intended.
-
Correct. Being told you are wrong doesn't make you wrong. The actual facts that prove beyond any shadow of doubt that you are wrong are what makes it true.
But you can believe whatever you want, denial isn't just a river in Egypt. -
Quote:No they don't.The competion gives subscribers all new 'powersets' for free.
What they are giving subscribers for free is Archetypes. The archetypes don't have new power sets, they are using specific powers that already exist in their game.
The powers they do sell are sold on an individual basis and cost half of what we are paying for 9 powers. -

Quote:The Ustream in question was on 8/4/2011With the advent of a lot of features that were once unthinkable before Freedom are now coming to fruition I'd like the developers to reconsider allowing players to change their arch type.
I would bet that a lot of people would pay a lot for this, I know I would like to have at least two of my characters change primary and secondary power sets.
Quote:okay, I just asked Positron about this subject on Ustream.
He did answer it.
According to Positron the subject of an archtype or power-set respec has been asked for internally.
The developers have done research into the possibility of such a respec.
According to Positron an archtype-respec is functionally impossible. -
No one can reserve any names on the VIP server because I have already taken them all.
Now if anyone wants a specific name freed up I can arrange it if you make an alcohol donation to the Church of the Drunken Squirrel.
