And you *shouldn't* really just chat in /help. It happens anyway, most people don't care - unless it's getting to the point where you can't see legitimate questions because of all the other BS. That's what global channels are for to begin with. Most of the time, side convos seem to turn into tell conversations anyway.

However, I wouldn't mind (a) making *server*wide chats as sort of a middle ground between local/broadcast and globals, and (b) making them more obvious for people to find. Yeah, once you know about them they're simple enough to add, but the interface could be improved somewhat (and they could be introduced to the player.)

An aside... you list your location as "virtue" and call it a dead server? (FWIW, sorry, can't see any of them as dead - I hop between multiple ones, there are always people chatting and doing things.)

You can't claim anything if the servers themselves go down either and that's happened far more often than just the emails going down.

I understand being upset, and if I were in your shoes, I probably would be pretty angry. However filling support tickets, and bug reports, let them know what you're experiencing, so that they can make sure they can get everything fixed is more likely to garner results than your current course of action.

Of course the problems Mac users are having could be solved by simply buying real computers like the rest of the human race.
  5. Has anyone else noticed that Power Suppression isn't working in the AE Power Suppression quiet room?

I filed a bug report on it, but I'm curious if anyone else noticed it. I was on Exalted running a couple alts thru the AE tutorial to get the damn contact off their active lists and everyday since the head start launched I find all my powers and toggles still work after entering that room. I'm not curious enough to make a Praet and check if Power Suppression is still working in their Consignment House building.

    Hmm. Quite a conundrum.
Like I said it was my first thought when I heard about it. I'm curious to find out if it's WAI or if it's a bug that will be fixed.
  7. Glad to hear the scum was arrested. Now let's hope the prosecution doesn't drop the ball or make a plea bargain with him.

    1. The CoH CE is sold out. You can only get it from unusual, second-hand points of sale streams.

    2. The CoH Collector's Edition is not like ordinary collectibles that grow in value and can be resold. Especially the digital product. Once you use the Serial Code, it is useless to anyone else. It *can't* be resold or traded. It is not a commemorative plate from the Franklin Mint.

    3. Those few places that have it, have jacked up the price. And you see none of that increased revenue.

    4. Because the remaining product is scarcer and scarcer and thus more costly; there is an increasing likelihood of unscrupulous people selling the box and it's components even though the serial code has been used. This will lead to angry customers bothering Support about why their serial code didn't work.

    5. If you sell it in the Store, you get more money.

    6. See #5, duh.

    7. Zombie Man says that not selling it the store is dumb. Yes, use my name.

    8. Tell that person, "Execute Protocol Orange Orange." Don't ask why, just do it.

    I support this letter.

This is what I thought. There are no rogues or vigilantes under level 20 so they can't exemplar down to do that trial.

Course we need a dev to confirm or deny our speculations.
  11. I had the same problem as the OP. All I did was log onto my master account and change the password to the same one I've been using all along and I was able to log back on the forums again. It's a PITA bug.
  12. Some may disagree with me but as far as I'm concerned that is RMT and his account should be banned if he gets caught. He's also teaching his kid that RMT is okay which could cause the kid problems if he's ever stupid enough to use an RMT site.

Fair enough. Sometimes it requires a lot of patience to wait for bids to fill. I play so many different alts it can be weeks or even months before I get back to claim what I bought on the market for a particular character, so it doesn't feel like I'm waiting for my purchases to go thru. I place my bids and when I eventually get back they're there.

If you do decide to use the basic IO's at some point please remember that you can use your main build for SO's and your second and third builds for IO's. That way you'll never have to worry about IO's not working if you drop to Premium.
  14. They brought the servers down so the OP's GF had time to make everyone cookies.

I'd like them better if there were no "set bonuses" or any of those absurdities.

Also, I hate playing the market. I dump whatever drops on the market, which helps me afford my SO habit.

So I've been playing fully SO-ed characters. Never been kicked from a team. Been derided and/or insulted on the boards a lot, but that's different.

I guess you could call me casual.
Have you considered just using the basic IO's? Like you I don't waste my time with the sets. Although I do farm the hell out of the Winter Event for Candy Canes so I can stock up on Winter's Gifts and sell them in July on the market. The last time I did that I made enough inf to finish my base after I converted it all to prestige.

Some people will make the effort to find out what the globals are, or even use /notes to 1 star the real jerk. Far too many however will simply fail to check the facts because they're pissed, blame the wrong person and trashtalk an innocent player.
  17. So the planet is nothing like Tatooine. This is what happens when you let Star Trek fans make Star Wars comparisons, and vice versa.

Heck if they are under the age of 18 they are supposed to have their parents/guardians permission to play the game in the first place. So if mom and dad don't want to open their wallet then little Timmy is going to have to put his big boy pants on and learn to do without. Now if he's made an account without their permission he should be subject to the rules of the EULA he agreed to and not rewarded for violating them.

No. A legitimate Travel Power is one that gets you to your destination much faster than the various Sprint powers. Rocket Board does that and that's it.

First thing that seperates them from anyone on the boards, the global.

And really, I don't think most of the players out there know the people on the forums from a hole in the wall.
No if they go around acting like an ***-hat, then that behavior is petition-able. Not because of the name they snagged but because of the ***-hattery.

Me, I'm looking at the guy(s) that snagged 4 versions of my global as my fans. Whether they like it or not.

Maybe they assumed your name was taken already cuz of it's coolness factor. Did you check to see if "Death Penalty", "Lethal Injection", or even "Electric Chair" were taken? How bout "Hangin' Judge"? Seems they would also be good alternative names for Texas Justice.

In the days before global hide I would sometimes want to chat with a few people but not show up on global lists. So I decided to make a character called OFFLINE so that in all global lists while I was logged into that character I would show up as OFFLINE.

I thought it was clever at the time.
I have a character named Off Constant Lee who is undefeated in combat because no one wants to admit they beat . . .

I know I have some characters that would really 'work' better as a different powerset combo, or maybe a different AT, but they also have something like the 1st aniversary badge. Something like that always seems to make me not quite want to delete the character to reroll it.
It'd be a lot easier for the devs to just make the anniversary badges global like the Vet badges are/were.

Still a bad idea. What will happen then is someone on a paid account will invite a disposable character on a free account he created and put on his friends list into an SG and use the disposable character to rob the SG blind, then quite the SG. After that he'll transfer the loot to his paid account, abandon the free account, and repeat the process with some other unlucky SG on a new free account.
