Quote:You can sit there and be stubborn all you want, but the devs have made their decision and have flat out told us the restrictions are in place because of RMT spam.I'm not looking for justicfication from the Dev's. They could require us to wear hats made of peanut butter in order to play and asking for justification would be silly, their house, their rules.
What I'm wondering is, how posters can shoot down the replying to tells part of the suggestions, claiming it has something to do with RMT. I just can't see how only being able to reply to tells sent to them is an opening for the goldsellers is all.
I'm open to being illuminated on what I'm missing there. If the suggestion is being shot down simply because they want to entice the $5 thats one thing, just don't pretend it has anything to do with RMT if it doesn't.
Quote:Chat restrictions were placed on Free accounts to protect the game environment from RMT Spam and other such unsavory elements. The investment required for being able to utilize private tells is enough to discourage most.
We've said this before and we'll say it again - We will always err on the side of protecting our Community from the constant harassment of RMT spam.
I've worked on games where free trial accounts/endlessly free accounts had unfettered access to PM's and multiple Global channels. The results were disastrous to the in game environment and served as a major drag to developer resources.
If City of Heroes Freedom were solely a Free to Play game, relaxing chat restrictions might make more sense, however the cornerstone of our business is, and will remain, our VIP subscribers.

Because that would defeat the purpose of making them spend $5 bucks to get a reward token and unlocking the chat channels. And that's all the reason the company needs. They don't have to justify their decisions with us.

Quote:It's not a global friends chat. It's just a friends chat using the regular /friends list on an individual server. And RMT can't abuse it because both parties have to be on each others /friends list to work. The problem was likely because your free friend didn't friend you as well. Both have to be friended to each other to see each others messages, otherwise one may not be able to see the others message.
As for RMT's using it, I'm worried about that too. The idea of free accounts allowed to use global friends chat may be a good idea. RMT's could spam you with global invites but wouldn't be able to send their message and would likely not bother.
RMTers can add hundreds of players to their friends list and spam all day long and no one will see a thing because none of their victims have the RMTers on their /friends list. -
Quote:You don't remember that the robot was put on a boat and set on fire and pushed out into the lake? The fire could have easily hidden the robot being teleported away or the robot could have simply waited for the boat to sink underwater before teleporting away.Given how many fixed points the Doctor seems to be involved in, one might conjecture that the Doctor's entire existence is a line of fixed points. But then you start getting into arguments about free will.
I had a thought today: what happened to the Doctor and the Tesselecta crew when the Tesselecta Doctor was burned? They never had the opportunity to leave without River, Amy and Rory noticing.
You don't actually think that something as mundane as a little fire was powerful enough to destroy the Tesselecta robot. -
Quote:Unfortunately freebies cannot use the friend channel. We tried it. My friend could see my comment but i could not see his replies. I believe the reason for this is that server friending someone requires no confirmation on the other person's part and a free rmt'r could load up a friend list with names it sees in game and simply spam its rmt messages in friend chat.
1. As Agge demonstrated it does work.
2. RMTers can't use it to spam anyone because they have to be added to their targets /friend list in order to be seen first. -

Quote:River also has Rule Number One in her book. So anyone reading it knows it's very possible that the Doctor could have lied to her about how many regenerations he's been thru. The Doctor is famous for keeping secrets.Except for the fact that River Song has a book containing a list of incarnations 1-11 (minimally), complete with pictures.
The Atraxi also seemed to only be aware of 1-10, so if they saw a new Doctor running about they'd know it was 12+.
No the Atraxi are only aware of 10 incarnations that defended the Earth. They have no idea how many other incarnations existed. -

Quote:If I had to guess it's because you've been going on and on and on over something you keep claiming isn't a big deal.As I've said repeatedly, I was trying to make sure that I was understood.
What did I do to you, exactly, that made you feel the need to pile on?
But I'm just guessing at her motivations. -
Quote:No, proof would be a dev statement that they are only adding new items to the store on a specific date each month. That way you could point to it and say players that get their points before this date have an advantage over players that get their points later in the month.I have offered proof that, beginning in November and from that point forward, one player is getting their points 27 days before the other, despite the first player having subbed at an earlier date. This is not imaginary. It is fact, given the information we have been provided, and that you have accepted.
Players simply getting points 27 days apart is not an advantage or disadvantage. -
Quote:I know there were some on Virtue because I was approached a number of times by members who understandably mistook me as someone who may have been from that region or at least spoke the language because I have some Latin themed/named characters.Hi everyone! I am helping out a new hero on Infinity who is Brazilian. She does not speak English, and I do not speak Portuguese, but with Google's help, we are able to communicate a little bit.
I was wondering, does anyone know of any Brazilian or Portuguese sites or groups I can suggest to this hero to visit or talk to and help her in helping Paragon City? Or if someone is fluent in Portuguese, could I maybe tell you who they are so that you can be, I don't know, kind of a Paragon City ambassador and welcome her?
Thanks for any help you can offer!
Hope that helps. -
And you won't get them all up front. They will doled out on a monthly basis over the course of your 12 month subscription.
And the devs did apologize for giving us the wrong info on how the rewards were going to be awarded. They honestly thought they were going to be given to us up front. -
Quote:No. You are misunderstanding. It doesn't matter who joined first prior to Sept 13th, 2011. Simply claiming there is a problem doesn't make it true. You haven't offered any proof that one player is better off than the other. The imaginary problem is imaginary.Based on these two statements, I think you're still misunderstanding what I am saying. Joe subscribed before Steve. Steve did not subscribe first.
Joe subscribed on April 28th, 2004. Steve subscribed on May 1st, 2004. Yet despite subscribing 3 days before Steve, Joe gets his points 27 days later than Steve does.
We've known since June that we'd be getting our points on our billing date. All veterans had plenty of time to adjust their billing dates if this was going to be something that was going to get their panties in a bunch. -
Oh and just an FYI I based my Nun off of these amazing ladies.
Praise the Lord or they'll kick your fill in the blank. -
Quote:Yes I see your numbers and as they clearly show (except for the Oct 11) that there is no advantage. Everyone is getting exactly what they were promised, when they were promised.I paid for my account the earliest possible date anyone could ever pay their account (April 28th, 2004). If someone paid for theirs 3 days after me (May 1st, 2004), they get their points earlier.
Joe subs on April 28th, 2004, and never goes inactive. Steve subs on May 1st, 2004, and never goes inactive.
Date, Joe's point total, Steve's point total
9/14, 1750, 1750
10/11, 1750, 2300
10/28, 2300, 2300
11/1, 2300, 2850
11/28, 2850, 2850
12/1, 2850, 3400
12/28, 3400, 3400
After all the wackiness with September and October gets sorted out, Steve winds up with 1 month's allotment of points 27 days before Joe. If he got it 30 days before Joe, nobody could argue that he didn't actually get 1 month's allotment of points more than Joe. How is this not an advantage?
Again, it's not that big of a deal to me. I'm just trying to make sure you understand what I'm saying.
Now you might be able to make an argument if the devs said they were only going to add things to the store on the first Friday of the month. Then you could make the argument that players with earlier subs had an advantage of buying stuff sooner. But the devs haven't said anything like that. -
Quote:That's not an advantage, that's just means one person started paying for his account 27 days before the other. It could just as easily be argued that guy that started his account on the 28th of Sept has an advantage over someone that starts his account on the 1st of Oct because he'll get his points on Oct 28 while the other guy has to wait until Nov 1st.Someone with a billing date of the 1st of the month gets their points then. Someone with a billing date of the 28th gets theirs 27 days later. That advantage.
Again, not a big deal, but weird when it means people who have been active since release get their points 27 days later.
The fact remains they both have to wait the same length of time to get their points. No one is at a disadvantage. -
What one time advantage? The extra points the devs awarded players that had accounts active during July,August, and September? If someone didn't have their account active for one or both of those months they aren't eligible for them. Everyone else got exactly what they were supposed to.
-
No one is getting more points than anyone else each month other than vets that unlocked the extra 150 bonus. Points are awarded on a monthly cycle that begins the previous month and is awarded on the renewal date of the current month.
If your renewal date is the 14th then it started in August 14th and ended Sept 14th with the points being awarded in Sept. Octobers period starts Sept 14th and ends Oct 14th. -
Quote:No. The only way you won't get points on Oct 14th is if you let your account lapse on Sept 14th for 30 days and reactivated it on Oct 14th.Huh...
So, if I have a billing date on the 14th my next token award is going to be in the middle of November? (Since the one extra I started with when things went live last month was supposedly the one that would normally have been awarded in the middle of October? o_0) That's.... bizarre. -
Quote:Not seeing a problem. CS/GM's doesn't work in the same office as Paragon Studios. If they get asked a question that they don't have an available answer to they have to forward it to the appropriate department where it gets put in a queue and wait for a response. Once an answer is ready it gets sent back to CS/GM's where it gets put in another queue and waits until the rep can get back in touch with the player. It took support 14 days to come up with this response, you can follow Caulderone's support ticket in this thread. Pay attention to the answers support gave on the 22nd.
All that takes time, especially when you consider the thousands of issues that get sent to them on a daily basis. So there's nothing unusual about them sending a generic response letting the player know his issue is still being worked on. -
Yep pretty much all a future Doctor has to do to keep the secret that he didn't actually die is say, "What? I'm going to look like that! some day?" and everyone will assume that he's simply an earlier regeneration they hadn't encountered yet.
