Quote:Only problem with that logic is that the game still gives VIP's 192 free slots (as well as the ability to get another 576) whether a player chooses to use them or not. It's not the fault of the company if a player refuses to use the game features to it's full potential.I'm not sure why examples for these types of things always assume you have over a hundred characters, which "proves" it's pretty cheap. I could do the same thing in reverse. 1 server with 1 character for a total of $20 per character! That's pretty damn expensive!
The only way it wouldn't be a bargain is if it only applied to existing characters or individual characters and had to be purchased again for new characters. -

Quote:Agreed.
Freems should be able to reply to tells.
Freems should be able to chat to people that have accepted them as friends. But isn't that available via the friends channel?
Freems can chat with people on their friends list as long as both parties have the other /friended.
This is why RMT can't spam the friends channel. No one willingly /friends them so no one ever sees anything they say on that channel. -
All these tears of entitled anguish give me a happy.
More delays for everyone!

Any claims that the player base doesn't want free transfers is untrue. People have been coming to the forums every 30-60 days begging for more free server transfers ever since they gave them out on the 2009 Winter Event.
That being said I think the devs would have done better by giving us a window where we could select a free respec, server transfer, or name change token depending on what we needed that month -
Quote:Well looking at your reg date I figured you were around when RMT was at it's worst, and didn't need it spelled out why it was so bad that the devs decided to take drastic measures with the chat restrictions.I don't get why you're so worked up over this but thanks for finally giving me a straight answer. That is, after all, all I was looking for.
Sorry if a assumed wrong on that.

Street sweeping bores the hell out of me. So did the old sewer runs. I guess I'm the only one that liked the illusion of variety I used to get from having 10 starting contacts in two zones instead of being forced to do the same starting mission arc over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over . . .

Quote:reread what you postedYou do know I already said that right? I said that she had never been there apart from as a baby.
<Pause while that sinks in>
Now I don't know about you, but I don't remember every detail about when I was born. I don't remember the colour of the room, because you know...I was a baby....
Quote:I do wonder though, how does River know about the battle of demons run before it actually happens? Watching the story of River Song, it shows that she knows everything about demons run before she goes there. If she hadn't been there yet, apart from as a baby, she shouldn't know about it. -
Quote:Posters aren't hiding behind anything. They are giving you the exact response they've been given by the devs, and no it isn't blanket market speak. Yes RMT would abuse a respond back to tells feature because they've done so in the past before the chat restrictions were in place.If you don't think that quoted post from Z was blanket market speak covering chat 'as a whole' I have nothing further to say on the issue except;
I don't see how your overlooking this simple concept, I'm not 'dead set' on anything. Just pointing out how silly it is for posters to hide behind the RMT excuse when it obviously doesn't apply.
I also don't see how asking the community to use common sense when defending their particular position is something you wouldn't want...
They would pose as looking for teams and spam people that sent them tells.
They would join teams and and spam their advertisements.
They joined SG's and spam them some more, as well as try to raid their storage.
They joined global channels and spammed them, which in turn caused many of the global channels to silence all new members or switch to private so no one could join without an invitation.
The devs made a decision to lock the channels behind a $5 dollar purchase, and it seems to be working. We haven't been inundated by RMT and the price is low enough that anyone can afford it. And that one time $5 dollar purchase doesn't just get those people access to the chat channels, it gets them all the other benefits of having a Premium account. -
Quote:I didnt eat it, took one bite, said its nasty and am trying to send it back
Eating it would be getting a StJ to 50,
getting to 15 and saying, this stinks, thats a bite.
I did play it on beta, but I dont remember it being this bad, and I cant remember the numbers so I cant say why it feels worse if it wasnt changed.
Simple. You don't like the price so you want to believe you aren't getting what you paid for. -
Yep. Been working for tens of thousands of CoH customers for almost 8 years.
Quote:Most players ingame don't even know about the test server
Quote:imagine the f2p ones.
Quote:May work for you, for me, but we're regular forumites, most players aren't.
Quote:And some people won't want to install another game instance
Quote:not all have fast internet and you have to search the forums to find out that you can 'shorten' the install process by copying files. -
Quote:You are just dead set on wanting to believe there has to be another reason other than RMT abuse, even after being given a week old post from the devs. (and that is being stubborn by the way.)I didn't realize my confusion came off as being stubborn, how's wanting to have the concept I'm missing pointed out to me 'being stubborn'? *Shrugs*
Shooting down the suggestions with SCR or even with 'The Dev's said' is fine with me, shooting it down with 'It'll let RMTer's run wild' makes no sense to me, and I wanted to know if it did to others.
It's entirely possible they just can't code it for one-way communication.
If it was an issue of not being able to code one-way communication they would have just said so. They have told us that on other suggestions in the past when coding was a problem. They aren't going to stop doing that now. -

Quote:This could be useful.
the rest isn't.
I know you are obviously a fanboy and willing to defend all criticisms of this game with your last dying breath but you want to defend the market? Really?
You list a whole bunch of workarounds that the average person can spend a couple of hours doing but why should we?
Why should we spend a few hours to find a way to send the Dev's some money? If they want our money, they should make giving it to them as easy as possible.
Don't argue against a user interface fix which has no negative impact on anyone in this game, it just shows you are willing to argue against anything in defense of the developers regardless of justification. As such, it pretty much invalidates your opinion in it's entirety.
The devs did make it easy. In each of my examples you can see exactly what you bought without ever opening the store interface. If pointing that out to you makes me a fanboy so be it. You can believe what you want. -
Quote:I wasn't trying to discount the opinion that some people think some prices are too high. Heck there are things in the store I will never spend a dime on regardless of price.Well, that doesn't really discount the opinion that the prices are too high.
I mean, yes, we can only use VIP given points to buy things, but some of us are saying that we'd likely add in real money purchases for things if they were lower priced.
Of course, other people are fine with paying at the current prices. So, all we can do is let Paragon Studios know and then they can decide what to change or not change.
Still... just because we get stuff for free doesn't mean that real money and pricing are completely out of the equation for us VIP peoples.
The way I look at the store is, there are things I don't mind spending money on right away if I have the cash (which I rarely do, because of my limited budget) and there are other things that are out of my price range. So while I can't get them immediately, I can save up my free points and get them later, maybe even on sale.
If the devs start seeing people only spending free points on high cost items
they might decide to reconsider lowering those prices.
We already know they keep separate tally's on free points and purchased points in regards to awarding reward tokens, so they shouldn't have any problem knowing what purchases are being made with free points. -
Quote:Or you can use the test server to try it out all you like before deciding to make the purchase. The Android Market had a 24 hour refund policy, no questions asked. Then google screwed up and lowered it to 15 minutes (wth? If I buy a 300 meg game there goes 10 minutes if I'm home).
A system of 6 or 12 hours refund would be nice imo but maybe they should limit it to some items like powersets - because one could make good use in 6-12 hours of the expensive 10 extra enhancement storage or the auction house thing in that time, while 6 hours is a good time to test a powerset or see how your toon would look ingame with new costumes imo. -
Quote:Ive brought this up
Companies can not insulate themselves from poor product by just putting a buffer in there
If you went to a burger place and told you, you had to buy a gift card with points on it, then use the gift card to buy a burger.
you would sure as heck expect your money back if you found a rat;s tail in it.
Even though what you actually bought was the gift card and not the burger itself.
And customers can't claim they were cheated when the information about the product in question was available before purchase.
You didn't bother to check out the changes to Street Justice when you had the chance, now you have to live with your disappointment. -
Not seeing the problem.
I get free points. I don't have to pay for anything extra if I don't want to. There's nothing in the store that we NEED in order to play the game. They are all fluff items. Only the people that desire instant gratification suffer the delusion that they have to pay for items in the store.
If the F2P and Prems want stuff for free from the store, they can sub just like the VIP's do. -
So you are irritated with the store because you can't remember what you've bought.
You can see what costume pieces you've unlocked by looking at them in the costume creator.
You can see what power sets you've bought by looking at them under the list of power sets when creating a character.
You can see how many costume slots you've unlocked by looking at the number of costumes you have while in the game.
You can see how many character slots you have unlocked by looking at the character selection screen.
You can see how many storage unlocks you've bought by simply logging in and looking at how much storage any given character has.
And I'm pretty sure that there's a command you can type in (someone will have to confirm this) that will allow you to pull up a list of all your purchases from the chat logs. -
Quote:You do realize that River was born at Demons Run just prior to the battle right?I rewatched the episode. Now watching it for a second time It was actually a huge amount better than the first time.
I do wonder though, how does River know about the battle of demons run before it actually happens? Watching the story of River Song, it shows that she knows everything about demons run before she goes there. If she hadn't been there yet, apart from as a baby, she shouldn't know about it.
The question, 'Doctor Who?' could mean one of two things.
1.) Doctor Who? Ie Who is the Doctor? Could this be the time River finds out his real name? She doesn't know it yet, but does in her future.
2.) Doctor, Who? Ie Someone asking the Doctor Who is X. The Doctor knows many secrets and someone could be asking him about one of those secrets.
This isn't the last we've seen of River, that is for sure.
<Pause while that sinks in>
She didn't know about it before it happened. SHE WAS THERE WHEN IT HAPPENED. It's all history to her. -
Quote:All it takes is $5 bucks to buy 400 Paragon Points or they can buy a cheap boxed edition for less than $5 (and gets them a month as a VIP) off of Amazon and they are automatically upgraded to Premium.I agree with 99% of the Restrictions. but one of the best things about City of Heroes has always been the Community. How can we be welcoming when they are not allowed to Join a VIP's Super Group because the VIP's invite is restricted to the new Player.
Not seeing the problem. -
Quote:I agree on the inspiration issue. That's puzzling.Yeah. I can kind-of see why they added the communication restrictions, but this one just baffles me... We could drop Inspirations on trial account users with no problem, but it's not allowed with freebies? 'Not a Good Thing in my opinion, and I said as much several times in Beta.
Seriously, would it really open the game to horrible RMT abuse if I'd been able to drop a breakfree on the little newbie fire-blaster Anigan was running DfB with yesterday? Would NCSoft really take a huge monitary hit if I had been able to hand her a couple of greens when she needed them?
Somehow, I don't think so...
